Passing through and decided to check out Egg Haven Pancakes & Cafe. We ordered a cup of the chicken soup with 2 rolls, the Eggs Benedict with extra sauce and hashbrowns as well as Baconado Omelet with hashbrowns and pancakes. Not bad, but not the best. Our server was nice, but not attentive. Didn't seem care much about the guests only doing what was needed to move the guest along. The facility appeared to be clean for the most part.

The restaurant was really full, but there was no wait so we were really excited to give this place a try. The one thing that I did not like is that the tables are really close together. The table next to us was less than a foot apart (see video). So if that will bother you make sure you tell them you want a booth. You hear every conversation because they have instrumental music playing in the background but you can barely hear it. Our waitress was very sweet and nice. She paid good attention to us. She kept out beverages filled without us having to wait too long so she was an A+ waitress. I ordered the two egg breakfast with pancakes and I told him to keep the hashbrowns because I believe that is way too many carbs for one meal. I wish they would let you substitute the hashbrowns for cottage cheese without the $2 up charge. I would eat here again, but I don't think I would go out of my way to dine here again. They do have salads so that is probably what I will have if / when we dine here next time. The restaurant is very clean and everyone working here is really nice and polite. We asked for two water glasses to go and that was very nice of them to accommodate us.

We met Dylan, our sever, at another restaurant - but he relocated to this LOVELY location, so we did too! He was, as always, prompt, friendly, and above all HONEST, about suggestions. We split the Market Bowl - added ham. The portion was huge. It was perfect. The staff was all super nice, even though there was chaos because of a cheer event going on, the decor was not overwhelming, charming. Will be frequenting this local often. Pete, the manager, was engaging and loved our comments on the way out. .

We tried to come here for breakfast a couple of months ago but the wait was too long. We came back on a Saturday noon in February, and we got lucky this time. We were seated as soon as we walked in. The place was clean, and bright. The servers were friendly and efficient. My kids ordered the BUTCHER SHOP BOWL and the FARMHOUSE BOWL. Both dishes were filled with goodness. I liked their hot and strong coffee too. Overall, I will definitely come back here when I am in the area. The service was great, the place was neat, and the food was satisfying.

Wow! Amazing hidden gem on the border of dekalb and Sycamore. Amazing food, very flavorful and fresh and exciting features cleaner than conventional ingredients. Staff are very friendly and attentive, and everything looks very well maintained and put together. Showed up for a late Sunday brunch date and was seated within 10 minutes despite them being extremely busy. Definitely would come back.

Spent the weekend in town due to homecoming and had to stopped here before heading home to the city. This was one of my favorite breakfasts spot when I lived in Dekalb and attended NIU. The customer service and food did not disappoint. I had the Egg Haven Club that included french toast, scrambled eggs, hashbrown, and my choice of bacon. My friend had the chicken and waffle. Food is still just as good as I remember it.

The price is increasing and the quality is decreasing. This tiny piece of chicken on this big piece of bread is ridiculous. We have to stop patronizing places like this and take a stand. They are taking advantage of us hard working customers

There's good reason this place is packed in a Sunday morning. Outstanding service, and tasty food! Omelettes, and other egg dishes looked great and tasted just as good. Coffee was also surprisingly excellent. Asked for a travel cup which they topped off to go. No reason to stop at Starbucks!

Service AND food here are amazing! This was my second time back and did not disappoint. Definitely worth checking out!

Great, fast, fun breakfast food! Let's start with the service. Unbelievable how quickly this staff worked the room. With it being as crowded as it was, I expected a wait for a table and food, but no the case. This team hustled and not only took care of their tables, but others, as we were offered coffee refills by more than just our server. The only thing that can top 5 star service is 5 star food, and again, Egg Haren delivered. The fresh squeezed orange and orange/strawberry juices were outstanding. I ordered the Butcher's Bowl with eggs over easy. It was very well balanced between the meats, cheese and potatoes, and tasted great. I stopped eating several times, as I was full, but I couldn't help myself to steal just one more bite several times. Also had one of their speciality pancakes that was also very good.

i went in looking a mess in my pajamas after coming from the hospital because i wanted to try it but hadn't planned on it when leaving that morning. even though i looked a mess and was on the verge of tears my entire time, their service was so good and my server along with the person who picked up my dishes and even those i saw on my way out were so nice. i liked the atmosphere because it felt classy yet comfortable which i enjoyed. the place is beautiful and each table looks wonderful. onto the food. first off the portion was really good size so made for good leftovers (eating them as i write) and so delish. the biscuits were so fluffy and soft and exactly how i hope my biscuits are. gravy not too thick or too runny. eggs soft but not undercooked. tasted amazing. i got an iced vanilla latte which was a little sweet for my taste since im picky about coffee but still really good. tldr definitely recommend. loved the service loved the food good atmosphere! perfect for brunch date.

Hi there! Hub-hub and I (and let's not forget our little Puppy) wanted a nice spot to eat breakfast…read moreon a beautiful Saturday morning. We ended up here! We were seated promptly, and brought menus- which we immediately perused! I ordered a build-your-own omelette with Havarti cheese, peppers, and sausage. It came with hash brown taters and pancakes. Ok- now a place that purports to be a pancake place should have good pancakes and syrup that's awesome. The pancakes weren't all that. Too tough - and the greater sin was that the syrup was already on the table in portion-controlled plastic containers. In other words- it wasn't hot, fresh, nor was it that good. And sure enough- the pancakes were tough. The syrup was cold. The omelette was nice and fluffy- no issues there at all! The hash brown taters were - well- abundant! Probably too abundant (darn it) as I couldn't finish them all. Hint - bring out warmed up syrup with the pancakes, please! Hubby had an acai bowl which he labelled "Yummy" - yay! One of us got a good breakfast! Service was just fine- not special over great. The prices were reasonable and the ambiance was just perfect. So- will we come again? Maybe. Maybe. But I'll avoid the pancakes - they need some work.

We already loved the food and atmosphere but Double Egg goes the extra mile. With how busy they were, we didn't have long of a wait. They said about 15 minutes give or take and I feel like it was less than that. We were seated in a booth and attended to fairly quickly. Quick enough that I barely got a chance to look at the menu and get ahold of my toddler. Our waitress gave us more time to check out what we wanted without us feeling rushed. Something I will always love at any restaurant is fresh squeezed juices. My favorite being orange juice, but they do have several others as well. The complimentary soup was delicious. Chicken and rice. I didn't think to order my toddler one because he can be fairly picky and I didn't want to waste it. Bad idea on my end apparently because I only got two bites -- while my toddler devoured the rest. I ordered a quart of the soup to go. SO glad that is an option! When our food arrived, which was fairly quickly in my opinion, my mom's was missing cheese. She brought it to our waitress's attention and her plate was immediately brought back with the missing cheese in place. I got the chilaquiles which were phenomenal. For those who are curious, the salsa verde that is used can be a little spicy for those with a more sensitive pallet. My toddler and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I feel that the prices are very reasonable. When we were leaving, my mother and I were each handed a rose and told happy Mother's Day. This was the extra mile. Not only do they provide so many made-in-house options (fresh squeezed juice, etc), and complimentary soups; they knew that something so small as handing out single roses to mothers, could make a huge impact.. and they did it. For those of us that are single parent and have toddlers, such a small act of kindness really goes a long way. Thank you Double Egg for going the extra mile. We'll definitely be back again.

First of all the catering food that was ordered was for 20 25 people, yes there are way more guest than that but some came late and here were no more food by the time they came. Once again thats ok because they didnt go there to eat. Example food ordered was 25 people but guest are around 35. The restaurant charged all 35 people for food even tho they only provided food for 25 people. And people who camr and dis not eat are eqsily spotted if staff wanted to count properly and pay attention. They also put out a shrimp cocktail with the buffet that has extra charge and they should have monitored this instead of putting it with the buffet food. Or not put any at all. Drinks was at their own (guest) expense and i feel like the price for the drinks were doubled. Our party had a karaoke set up and at the end they said that if we wanted to continue karaoke we can do it in the.main dining because they needed to clean the section we were in but never mentioned that they are charging for the additional time. Everything was not done upfront and clear and therefore not going back to support this place. Basically food is ok but shady transactions and CLARIFY everything before booking a party.
