Elizabeth cakes and dessert (available on Tuesdays for Lotería night)
    Juliana R.

This bar has become a staple! From fun theme nights to excellent brews- this is a great little brewery. While the service can lean a bit slow, the taste of everything makes up for it. I was there on a Tuesday for loteria night and they had amazing chocoflan for sale as well. The loteria was fast paced, fun to play, and had TONS of prizes. They host magic the gathering night on Thursdays where you can play others or your own group as well. They have a great selection of beer and awesome smash burgers! If you are going for the burgers- note that on days they have pop up vendors (check instagram) they will not serve their typical menu. I look forward to returning for more events.

Tacos are AMAZING here. They are made fresh and hot. Be careful not to burn your tongue. The cheese is crispy and pan-fried to the tortilla. They give you a lot of the ingredients so it's hard to fold it and eat it. Get a fork! It spills out on your plate. The sauces that come with it adds that kick and extra flavor. I personally like the steak better than the chicken, but both are still good. Their smash burger is good too and it's a double patty. It's more on the salty side so make sure you get that drink on the side! I had the honey water and it tastes like kombucha. I had the Korean roasted barley drink which was very unique and different. I'm use to drinking the flavor as a hot tea so having it in a sparkling beverage form blew my mind bc it was so different. Not sure how I feel about it tbh.

We stopped in for a quick drink before heading out of Chicago. We are happy we did. I got a michalittle and he got a few tastes of beer. We ordered the burger and it had grilled cheese on it. It was super cheesy and full of flavor. The double smash burger was filling and great for the price. It comes with fries and they taste just like McDonalds fries, we loved them! I wish we had found this place sooner or lived in Chicago. We would be regulars!

The okc smashburger with an extra patty, added bacon. Excuse the messy counter in the background, it's my cousins haha

Really good brewery, great for drinks, great for the burgers, great for hanging out with a group of friends or family. The interior is nicely decorated with its own unique flair, oval shaped bar and nice custom wood feature above the middle of it. There's some TVs for games, a big pull down screen too. They have a nice glass area to see where they make the beers and also have a little store front with beers and merch to buy. Service is always great, attentive and friendly. The okc smash is great, I just wish they made a sauce for it, it's got a great crust on the smash and taste great. I was hungry so I added another patty and bacon because sometimes it be like that. They serve a wide variety of brews they make, cocktails (the manhattan is pretty good), and thc drinks. I've been a decent amount of times and will be going again.

Brat with side of potato salad during Oktoberfest

Went during Oktoberfest and got to witness a hilarious polish sausage eating contest and sampled some brats. I can't say I loved the sausage because the kimchi it came with tasted alittle off but I did love the potato salad. When it comes to the beers I love their huge variety including THC drinks. THEY ARE DELICIOUS. Would recommend the Half and Half.

I brought my mom here after a trip to zap props, and we were impressed with the overall atmosphere and food. I don't love ordering at the bar, but the folks working there were very helpful and kind. The beer was good, and we also got some loaded fries, a shrimp, quesadilla, and a Smashburger. Everything was very tasty. There were lots of little kids and babies there, which I appreciate because it can be difficult to find kid friendly places sometimes. Would definitely go back!

Everything was good, I didn't know how delicious crusted cheese was we ordered the fries the bar drinks were light but good hop & honey water tasted like sparkling water with honey literally sublime fries 10/10 no complaints.. i would suggest the salsa in the bar there is adequate street parking we dined in but ordered at the bar and food was brought to our table. a server didn't come to us..

I already love the vibe of this place and all of their unique craft beer selections, but tried their food for the first time, specifically their smash burger and it was DELICIOUS.

Ambiance - super cool interior, bar in middle, lots of tables, they have themed nights (Thursday is karaoke night) Service - order at the bar and staff brings food to your table Food - smashburger is a must get (love how crispy the edges were), the protein for the tacos were a bit dry

Marz Brewery makes the most savory comfort food. From their gourmet ooey gooey cheesy smashburger to their cheesy fried tacos, everything here is the PERFECT weekend treat after a hard week of work, you know what I'm saying? Although you can definitely come for tacos and a beer on their trivia days, too. Bring all your friends--this place is quite huge and have long tables for large parties. Tip: Order on the left innermost part of the bar if you're just there for food, and remember your table number when ordering!

Went for the first time and I enjoyed it. Ordered the guacamole, steak and shrimp tacos. The food order did take some time but it states that on the menu so I was prepared for it. Ordered a cocktail and it was just okay - tasted like juice. I should've opted for one of the canned options. The tacos were good! I loved that the meat was plentiful and not dry. I will say the cheese they use (I'm assuming) or some other component on the steak taco is a little salty. But other than that I enjoyed and would return.

loved it here. great family vibes on a sunday afternoon. you can bring kids. they had a guy making some excellent empanadas. i think casa empanadas was his company. loved the beer, staff, food. everything was excellent. plenty of free parking and easy to find. need to go back for a burrito. chicken taco was also great.

Great service and great everything. The place is sooo cool and I'm sad my phone died bc I didn't get to take more photos because there's just so much coolness inside this brewery. Recommend this place highly. The tacos and the amazing salsa was to die for. Kudos to the person who makes the red salsa. I'm a little jealous bc I make salsas myself. Loved it!!

Ask the Community - Marz Community Brewing

Are the CBD seltzers available to order in while eating or are they only to go?

    Both are acceptable

    Is the place children friendly?

    Yes

Can I get beer to go?

Yes! They do curbside pickup and also you can get package goods to go.

Do they require or take reservations?

    No, the patio is walk-up.

    Can we bring our kids?

You sure can. They even have high chairs.

Their website shows three beers. Is that all they have? No food menu, so no food?

They definitely have food! It's an interesting selection. It's filling food, too. They have more than 3 beers. They have quite a lot on tap and bottles. They also have a space where you can buy their bottled beer from a fridge and merch.

Does this place have TV's in the bar section? I know most brewery's don't

yes, they have one big screen for sure. most of the times I've been there its tuned into some sort of non broadcast channel, very weird programming, but they had World Cup on earlier this month.

Do they take reservations? A group of 6 or so people would like to come for lunch on a weekend. Not sure if it's typically packed.

No reservations from what I have seen. When I was there on the weekend we arrived around noon and it wasn't full yet but it did fill up shortly afterwards.

The halibut. This was very delicious. Somehow the blueberry nuoc cham works? The fish was tender and flaky. The sauce was salty and full of umami with a hint of blueberry sweetness. This fish dish made me crave for a bowl of steaming hot bfluffy white rice. The string beans. Unless you are allergic to nuts, this is a must get dish. Perfectly cooked string beans (still crispy but not raw) sautéed with fish sauce vinaigrette was an absolute delight. It's also on the salty side which made me crave rice but it's such a flavor bomb. The cashews provided a contrast in texture but yet complemented the seemingly simple dish. I wish the portions were bigger. The galbi. It's was good but compared to the first 2 dishes, didn't really wow me. The meat was one rib strip (4 rib bones) cut into 4 pieces so it's a rather small portion for the price. The stone fruit slices was a nice pairing in that it provided a sweet and tart contrast to the heavier meat flavor. After trying this dish, I felt I personally prefer the LA galbi marinade flavor and preparation for short ribs. Overall, I'm glad I got to try this place. I've heard the wait is insane, so it's recommended to make a reservation on Resy. Off the bat, I was already side-eyeing this process. I had to pay $2.49 per person to secure a reservation, which is crazy. This is not a deposit either, which I would have understood. I've just never encountered a restaurant that charges a fee to make a reservation. Upon arrival, we got seated immediately (which I would hope so, after paying to make a reservation). Our server collected our orders quickly and our food came out about 15-20 minutes later. CRISPY FRIES - 13.99 Charging $14 for a side of fries is wild enough, but topping it with a completely solid fried egg was baffling. I'm not sure what the culinary vision was. Are we supposed to mash it all together into some sort of hash brown situation, or awkwardly eat the fried egg on its own? The fries themselves were fine, nothing to write home about. However, I did enjoy the mornay sauce and garlic aioli that came on the side. SINGLE CHEESEBURGER - 17.99 +3.49 for egg Over $20 for a burger that doesn't come with sides? I was a little disappointed my burger came with a side of a knife instead. I thought the whole gimmick was having the knife strike straight down into the burger. Beyond that, the burger wasn't anything unique. The bun itself was dry and mid, not the soft and fluffy bun I had envisioned. Everything else was fine -- not bad, but certainly not great. While it wasn't a bad burger, I can't help but feel incredibly disappointed given the hype around Au Cheval burgers. My friend told me the way to "fully experience" Au Cheval is to get the cheeseburger plus both the egg and bacon add-ons, which our server also recommended. I did try a piece of my friend's bacon with my burger and it does add a depth of smoky sweetness. However, that becomes a 17.99 + 3.49 + 6.99 = 28.47 for a burger. That's insane. The add-ons themselves cost more than half of the burger. I'm not doing that to my wallet. Sorry, but this was a disappointing experience for me. I'd rather just go to Shake Shack, which at least comes with tasty and juicy burgers for 1/3 of the price.

Came here for lunch with my coworkers and had a really enjoyable meal. Our waiter was super…read morefriendly and attentive so it was a good experience from start to finish. We started with the poutine to share, and it was a solid appetizer. I especially loved the pickled onions on top, which added a nice tangy contrast to the rich gravy. For my entrée, I ordered the fish and chips and was pleasantly surprised by how large the pieces of fish were. The fish was flaky, fresh, and cooked really well, while the fries were nice and crispy. We ended lunch with the vanilla crème brûlée, which was a great way to finish the meal. It had a nicely caramelized sugar topping and was a solid dessert overall. I'd happily come back to try more of the menu.

I celebrate my birthday with my family at Ema every year, and at this point it's become one of my…read morefavorite traditions. Ema is, hands down, my favorite restaurant in Chicago. From the food and ambiance to the consistently outstanding service, everything is truly top-tier. This visit was just as exceptional as every one before it. We shared the Sweet Corn Hummus, Spicy Whipped Feta, Brussels Sprouts, Crispy Wild Mushrooms, Crispy Potatoes, Grilled Chicken, and the Lamb & Beef Kefta. Every single dish was outstanding. I wish I had taken more photos, but we were too busy enjoying the food as it arrived at the table! For drinks, my sister loved the Strawberry Rose Paloma, and I enjoyed a glass of Kir-Yianni Sparkling Rosé, which paired beautifully with the meal. The warm, seasoned pita deserves its own recognition. It's soft, pillowy, and absolutely addictive. Honestly, it's hard not to fill up on the pita and spreads before the rest of the meal even arrives. Our server struck the perfect balance between friendly and attentive, without ever feeling intrusive. We usually make room for dessert, but we were completely stuffed this time. In the past, though, I've loved both the Warm Sticky Date Cake and the Frozen Greek Yogurt, and I'd recommend either without hesitation. I was secretly hoping for a tiny scoop of frozen yogurt as a birthday surprise, but my server didn't mention it and I didn't remind him of the celebration (and honestly, we were way too full anyway ). As a huge Top Chef fan, it's always special dining at Chef CJ Jacobson's restaurant. I had the opportunity to meet him during my very first visit to Ema, and he was incredibly gracious. His creativity and attention to flavor are evident in every dish. Ema continues to set the standard for what a great dining experience should be. It's the restaurant I recommend most often when people ask me where to eat in Chicago, and it remains my go-to place for special celebrations. I can't wait to come back again soon! #ImNotAFoodie #ImJustAGirlWhoLovesFood #YelpEliteSquad PS: the hotel next door no longer provides parking validation.
