We waited for a while over 1 hour but got seated once we got in. Be ready to wait some more around 20-30 min for foods but it was good! The soft serve margaritas was amazing!! They even give you an extra shot on the side but you couldn't really taste the alcohol. They make there soft serve homemade and it's so delicious tastes like real fruits. Overall, support local businesses and as we came on cinco de Mayo it was extremely busy.

I really enjoyed the food here. I also love the fact that it's open later than a lot of places. The server was friendly and accommodated us. However, the music was VERY loud. Perhaps we were sat really close to the speaker but we were unable to hear each other talk. I loved their pescadito (battered cod) taco.

My first time visiting, I ordered the wings and my cousin ordered the beef tacos. I wasn't impressed but the customer service was great.

Their seasonal stuffed chilaquiles are amaaaazing. I hope it never goes away. I do wish they put more sour cream on them.

La Mejikana was pretty packed when I went, but I got a seat right away. The place had a lot of energy, the music going, people talking and laughing, just a fun atmosphere. I ordered a few different tacos because I wanted to try a mix: carne asada, lomito, and fish. The lomito ended up being the winner. It's marinated ribeye with a slice of panela cheese and even a thin slice of apple. I wasn't sure how apple would work in a taco, but it actually worked, the sweetness balanced the flavor of the meat and cheese. The fish taco was also really good, fresh, crunchy, and piled with toppings. The carne asada hit that classic taco flavor, juicy and well-seasoned, exactly what I was hoping for. Portions felt just right, filling without being over the top. Service was friendly and pretty fast considering how busy it was. I really enjoyed this spot. Definitely a place I'd go back to and try more from the menu.

We went what seems like their late night service. Space was moody, dark and eclectic, we were seated right away and our waiter was super attentive. They had a DJ playing a good selection of music, we ordered drinks which were good. The only suggestion i have is the restaurant giving cups with ice when ordering a soft drink. My friends ordered finger ale and received the can , no straw no cup. Their elote and guacamole were really good as well as their shrimp tacos! Looking for a late night Mexican food spot with a good vibe, this is a good choice.

Small place. Loud music. Food and drinks were amazing. Came in during lunch time on a Saturday. Place was not busy at all and the staff were friendly. They do have the music pretty loud so be prepared. Tacos were delicious and the guacamole is a must try!

    House special margarita!!

This place is definitely a hidden gem. But how can it be hidden if it's on the Main Street?? Great question, maybe it's just hidden to me. Well the food and drinks were great, just a plethora of tequila selections. Good service with a smile and on a Friday night, the ambience couldn't be any livelier with a DJ who mixed all genres f music and never skipped a beat. Had my wife dancing on the way out!!

This local gem serves killer margaritas that set the tone for an unforgettable meal. The showstopper? Half a grilled pineapple overflowing with velvety cheese and a generous bounty of shrimp, octopus, and imitation crab--far more than just eye candy. This hearty dish was a feast worthy of its own story. The service kept everything running smoothly, while loud punk and rock tunes created an energetic atmosphere that I loved. The space itself--with soaring ceilings and a long bar stretching wall to wall, lined with inviting bottles of mezcal and tequila--delivers a rustic saloon vibe that perfectly complements the experience.

It's definitely got the Tulum decor vibe. My friend made reservations and we were seated right away. Tables are close together so I could hear others conversations but pretty typical city restaurant stuff. I could hear my friend fine so music wasn't too loud. They have a bar and tvs playing sports on the side too. Service was fast and nice. I got the Tulum Special and the limeade. The Tulum Special is a mix of nicely seasoned chicken, shrimp, cheese, rice, and fajita veggies. It also came with several corn tortillas wrapped in a vibrant colored fabric (which ngl, do they wash and reuse those?) that I could scoop the mix into. Pretty tasty (and also something I could make at home?). Portions were good - I took home about half and the leftovers made another two small meals. The limeade was freshly squeezed and nicely sour - really worth a try! My friend got veggie tacos and said they were watery. Overall good experience! I'll be be back for the fish folks rave about.

We were lucky to come for happy hour and enjoyed every food option on the menu short list (yum croquettes, chicken and the chefs special taco!) as well as a strawberry margarita and Mezcal old fashioned. Flavors were fantastic and the margarita was not too sweet. Finished off with pulpo (what a fun, tender yet crunchy take!), bone marrow (so decadent and relatively large portion with crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside bread), and ceviche (I think it had sesame oil? What a delight). Not a surprise, since I've always loved chef Rick Bayless, and chef Jackie is great as well. Came with two kiddos and they were very accommodating with kids menu and coloring options.

My hubs & I ordered the tlayuda's. He had the candied special & I had the traditional w/ grilled chicken. The ambiance was nice which is what drew us in. The staff was friendly. The quesadillas were essentially 3 soft tacos w/ melted cheese. The tortillas were chewy & not in a nice way and they weren't flat & crispy like a quesadilla. My hubs & I tried them too & didnt like it. The tlayuda's were as if they were made by 2 different chefs. Mine, the traditional, had zero flavor except an over powering taste of just oregano. My husband's was amazing! Thankfully they're ginormous - enough for 2 people so I ate 1/4 of his to at least fill my belly until dinner time. We enjoyed the chips & salsa. The tomatillo was much more flavorful than the other. The chips were good. So idk how to give a proper rating for a meal where we basically loved only 1 dish. If you choose any item - get the candied tlayuda, it won't disappoint!

I think this is an expansion of El Taco Azteca on Cermak, which has amazing tacos, with beautiful, creative menu items. The presentation of the food surprised me because I didn't know it was Azteca, I couldn't take a picture before diving in. Freshly fried chips came with a thick, mole-esque red sauce that was delicious without any heat. We had a vegetarian torta and a birria chilaquiles. Both dishes were well presented and tasted great. The torta bread was slightly pressed and had an amazing crunch to the crust. Flavorful vegetables were a highlight. The chilaquiles came with a side of rice and chara? beans. A couple of small dings that resulted in 4 instead of 5 stars. They ran out of eggs so I was substituted a small piece of chorizo, kind of wish there was more there. Also, we ordered a side salad with the torta and fries came out. Otherwise, I recommend trying this place. I'm excited to come back and try other dishes.
