How lucky are we to have such a great chinese restaurant, that is also halal? I understand that they wanted to open the restaurant in the area where all the Asians are, in Bellaire, but selfishly, I would like if they were more on the north side, because that's where we are. This has quickly become our new favorite restaurant. The pan fried beef dumplings to start out with are amazing, and we've got them every time at this point. We absolutely love the orange chicken, the corn soup is good, you can add a few different sauces to it to make it to your liking. The short ribs weren't my favorite. They were chewy and just that something that I liked as much as other options on the menu. But if you like beef, you might like them. Although they weren't my favorite, the waitress said they were quite popular (which is why we ordered them). Chicken chow mein was pretty good, and I think a pretty good option if you want noodles. Wish they had a chicken szechaun option, but they only do that with tofu. Every time we've gone, we have had good customer service. The first time we had someone named sister Lilly, who was very nice and the second time we had a young girl woman but I don't remember her name. Sometimes they give you fortune cookies and sometimes they don't. The place he was pretty quiet when we come during lunch, and so the food comes out quick, but it is fresh. We are planning on coming and trying more items soon!

This was an amazing halal Chinese meal at Ma's House. We loved everything and the service was great. Food was served quickly and hot. The restaurant is bright and all the tables are set for larger crowds with 8 seats though there are booths for smaller groups. We started with the Chicken corn soup and beef dumplings. The main course was walnut shrimp and black pepper chicken. We also got the chicken chow mein noodles and the 3 flavor fried rice. Nothing was too spicy and the flavors were delicious. Check them out for halal Chinese food in Houston.

This place is so beautiful when you walk in with high ceilings and nice tables. I'm surprised to find such a fancy place in Chinatown next to Duang Huang plaza. The nice thing is they have their own parking lot, so you don't have to mingle with and the people scrambling to go to DH. They have a diverse menu from chicken, pork, fish and vegetarian options plus dim sum. We ordered the chive beef rolls, orange chicken, crispy duck and mixed seasonal vegetables. We found it funny the waiter didn't know what kind of vegetables were in the seasonal. The food portions are huge and we had a lot of leftovers. Everything tasted amazing and fresh. I wasn't as big of a fan of the beef roll but it didn't taste bad. My favorite was the crispy duck. It's not like peking duck, more like the crispy pork you get ag bbq places. The downside is they do charge for rice - 0.95 cent per bowl but you can get away with ordering just 1 for 1 people. Prices are a little high for Chinatown, but given the portion sizes not too bad. Service is fine. Polite but not too intrusive. Refilled our water s few times. Love the food and the ambiance. I want to come back and try some more dishes.

Slept on Chinese halal restaurant that's huge and right next to the plaza that's always busy. Honestly I think my group just ordered the wrong things that weren't Chinese halal specialties (ie lamb). We got standard Chinese dishes that are passing but definitely not as well made as other Chinese restaurants. I heard their version of scallion pancakes is a specialty, and each one was huge! Definitely a highlight. I hope to be back soon to try some of the specialty halal dishes.

My first impression of Ma's House is that it is huge and nicely decorated. I'm at a group of nine and they accommodated us easily at a round lazy Susan table. They were patient with the orders and took time to explain everything. Everybody was super friendly. We ordered eight or nine things and everything was truly fantastic. From the crispy chive sesame bread to the filet mignon dish. I was also excited to see hand cut thick noodles. Those are my favorite and I had been missing those from Chinatown. The Mongolian steak and pepper steak was excellent as well as some of the chicken dishes we got. Everything was delicious It's great to have such a big clean, organized and high quality Chinese halal police in the hotspot of Bellaire and beltway 8. Definitely coming back here and catering from here. That bread was amazing. All around awesome place

I've tried the original in Anaheim and really enjoyed it, so I was delighted when I first heard it had come to Houston! I decided to give it some time before trying it so it could work out any kinks they might have, which are inevitable when opening a new shop. We finally tried it this week, and it wasn't quite like the original. Let's start with how large this place is! It's massive which is great because you don't have to worry about wait times. The folks who work here are incredibly sweet, patient, and helpful. They helped us select dishes and waited until we figured it out! There was so much to choose from. Their servings are also large, so you'll have leftovers which is always a nice perk! The food was where it just didn't meet the mark. Everything was just bland. My husband did comment that maybe that's how authentic food should taste, and we are conditioned to American Chinese that is much more salty? I'm not entirely sure if that's why we found it bland, but it's a thought! We ordered the garlic and jalepeno beef, the dough/hand pulled noodles chicken chow mein, pan fried beef dumplings and the thin bread with green onions. The bread with green onions is SUCH a large helping- 16 pieces! The dumplings were... my husband enjoyed them but I hated how it was a giant chunk of beef wrapped in the dumpling. Not much else going on seasoning or flavor wise. The noodles were better once I added soy sauce and Chili oil. And the beef was not spicy, but again serviceable with a bit of chili oil and soy. All in all, we'd come back to give it another try given some time. It wasn't bad but it was also nothing to write home about.

Went to @mashousechinesehalal, New halal chinese spot in town. I have heard a lot of positives about the original location in LA, so definitely had to give it a try. I went with the Filet Mignon Black Pepper Sauce off the lunch menu, which comes with a veggie spring roll and the soup of the day, which was Chicken Corn Soup. and also ordered the Steamed Beef Dumplings. The meal also comes with complimentary tea. First off the the Filet Mignon was amazing, so tender and juicy. overall a great portion size for a lunch special. And for the Steamed Beef Dumplings which were great aswell, Soft dumpling exterior and the juicy flavor beef inside. Overall this place is great and definitely worth the hype.

BUMMED. This place has room for improvement, and seeing as it just opened...I think it has the potential to turn itself around to be close to the OG Ma's Islamic Chinese in Anaheim. The place / ambiance is PHENOMENAL and if that's all the matters to you -- then GO FOR IT! It has its own semi-spacious parking lot (though I do see this being a battle during peak hours). The SERVICE, on the other hand, could use a lot of work. We were being helped by Lucy, and she seemed aloof from the get go. My husband was giving our order, and her mind seemed to be focused on the server taking another parties order next to our table. YIKES. She even apologized after noticing our dismay. She forgot to get our drink order, didn't bring us our water, and we had to ask another server to go grab her after 10-12 minutes. I think we saw her maybe 2-3 times in total for our entire dinner there. Ma's -- there needs to be better staff training. If this was the service when half the restaurant was empty - I can only imagine what it is like when it's a full house. On to the food, ARGH. THIS ONE GETS TO ME THE MOST. Our order was: 1. Orange Chicken (medium spice) 5/5 this one was the one dish that was completed in its entirety! Crispy and absolutely delicious! 2. Sizzling Black Pepper Beef -- came out SIZZLING, yet bland. I'm not too sure where the flavor got lost, but this wasn't it fam. 3. Steamed Rice. 4. Chicken Chow Mein. This one was good for the kids. The chicken wasn't too overpowering and the noodles were not rubbery. 5. Chicken & Creamy Corn Soup. I was expecting this to be piping hot, but it was on the colder side. I actually ended up taking this back to the hotel room and warming it up myself. Tasted better! I personally like mixing this with vinegar, chili oil, and a little bit of soy sauce for ultimate flavor. Overall, 3 / 5. Lots of potential, but just needs time. I hope to make a pit stop next time I'm in HTX, at least for the orange chicken.

A new Halal Chinese food in this area of Chinatown, and it is not Uyghur Chinese food bit traditional Chinese food that is also Halal, they have great lunch special here. The service is fast here and the food is pretty good too. The restaurant is a little bit big for the amount of customers they have so far so it may feel a bit empty. Come and check out this place and even if you do not eat strictly Halal.

We arrived at 745 on a weekday and this place was packed. The food was great but in a huge restaurant the management needs to keep more than 2 waiters. The two poor waitstaff were overwhelmed and we waited an hour for food because they were tending to 70 plus customers. The scallion pancakes were delicious. Management do better with supporting your staff.

    Soo L.

The staff is welcoming and efficient. The restaurant has plenty of room to accommodate big families. The lunch menu was pretty good, except Ma's short ribs. They were very flavorful, but chewy. A lunch plate comes with a nice corn soup with little chicken bits and an eggroll. The sole with asparagus was tender and we'll be ordering that again! The eggrolls were a bit mushy inside. The chicken with cashews was good. We'll be bringing friends to share more dishes!

I had an opportunity to try Ma's House during grand opening. Was overwhelmed with the amount of options on the menu. Thankfully was not disappointed on the result of deliveries. The food was flavorful and authentic. The staff were super busy and only came over to the table when called upon. The restaurant was giving a friendly family style vibe. Definitely a solid spot for Chinese food.

Amazing amazing amazing! As someone who lived in Asia and experienced a ton of Halal Chinese foods, I am at a loss for words! This was authentic, tasty and fulfilling to the point to where I had leftovers for the next days lunch. The quality of the meat is bar non and you can taste it I every bite. Overall I give this new restaurant a 5/5 for everything including quality of food, ambience, and service! I highly recommend it. The Sizzling Black Pepper Beef was melt in your mouth awesomeness!

However, I do believe that, with so much big competition in this area, some of their dishes can be better. 1. Ha Kao - Pretty nice and plump dumplings with a good wrapper to filling ratio, though the wrapper kept falling apart on us and sticking to the container and didn't complement the shrimp on the inside. 2. Siu Mai - I'm so mad I didn't enjoy this, despite it being one of my favorite things to get at dim sum. The ones we got were just really meaty with none of the other flavors coming through. 3. Shrimp Rice Rolls - I adore these, and Crown thankfully makes it really good. Perfectly bouncy, and unlike the Ha Kao, the texture of this is right for the inside to complement it. I do wish their sauce was a little more complex, though. 4. Fried Shrimp Balls - This is one of the dishes that seems to be pretty uniform across all the restaurants. You're either going to like it or not. I enjoyed it though. 5. Soup Dumplings - Yummy, light broth and not overly medicinal. The wrapper texture was a little inconsistent from bite to bite overall. 6. Egg Tart - I usually don't really like this, but this one was made well. Nice crumbly texture and a very light eggy taste in the filling. Other than that, there were no major flaws in either the service nor the albeit bare interior and exterior of the building. Overall a really good experience that holds up well compared to the other dim sum places in the area.

Ironically, I'm not big on oysters either, so I ordered the Jumbo Golden Fried Shrimp which hit the spot real good. Large shrimp, well fried, flavored, and the tartar sauce was addicting. The fries that came with it were perfectly seasoned, carrying a bit more of a cajun flavor rather than just regularly salted. My parents definitely enjoy oysters, so they ordered the Charbroiled Oysters and really enjoyed it, as well as the Uni Oyster with Quail Egg. They also got the Cowboy Lobster Shrimp Roll that was gone before I even took a second look their way. We finished the meal with a yummy, dense basque cheesecake! When I arrived there was nobody dining in the restaurant, that was a bit worrying, but I figured it was a bit early for the dinner crowd and late for the lunch crowd. They had nice flavor, but there just wasn't anything "special." 3.5* Then it was on to the crawfish, and my oh my. Superb, the flavor is delicious and unique. This more than made up for the noodles dish. The potato and corn was good too. Service - 5* Solid. When I first arrived the owner was quietly reading a newspaper and eating his own lunch. He paused to greet me and advised that I could sit anywhere. He provided water and adequate time to determine what I wanted to order. The food came out quickly and he checked in a few times to make sure everything was ok. As time went by, the crowd of folks showing up increased quite a bit and he still managed to check in on tables consistently. Pricing - 4* This is where it was odd. Always subjective but I found the noodles to be overpriced for not only the size but what I felt was a pretty simple dish. The crawfish on the other hand was priced very competitively and made up for the overpriced noodles. Love this renovated and classy version of Hai Cang. It was a smart business move as there aren't as…read moremany upscale Vietnamese Chinese restaurants in the area that 1) have live seafood and 2) also offer private rooms for larger parties. Came here with family to celebrate Father's Day so we splurged on the Tamarind Dungeness Crab (MP was $38 at the time in Jun 2026) and it was the most memorable dish I've had in a long time. The coating on the crab is super light and was fried perfectly so that the juices were all sealed inside. Since it was fresh, the crab meat is super sweet and soft. The tamarind sauce is also SO addicting that I ate 2 bowls of rice with it. One crab was enough to feed 3 of us. Another must order dish is their snow pea leaves. I don't know why but it tastes 10x better than when I make it at home myself. Skip the chef's special chicken - the sauce doesn't contain the green onions, only the ginger, making it not as fragrant and missing the mark on this iconic HK dish.

Service was good, better than most places I've been in the Chinatown area. They seemed attentive and responsive and even refilled my water before I had to ask. They did have high chairs for small toddlers but no child's menu, FYI, for those visiting with kids. Here's what we ordered: Snow pea leaves (8/10) - good vegetable dish to balance out the seafood. Soft and sautéed well to make it a solid side dish. Clams in Black Bean Sauce (7/10) - another good dish we had as a starter/side. Flavorful and the clams were just the right texture. Black pepper lobster (10/10) - the star of the show. Loved this dish. Seasoned and cooked perfectly. So flavorful and delicious. Would highly recommend this dish. Fried fish (8/10) and fried tofu (7/10) - solid dish. Came out fresh and hot and fish was fried perfectly with a nice crisp bite. Tofu was also cooked well but I think I enjoyed the fried fish just a bit better. Peking Duck - (9/10) - another signature dish, in my opinion. Duck was cooked great with a nice crispy skin and perfectly steamed baos. Another dish I would highly recommend. Overall, good visit with great food and good service!
