Interesting place--it's definitely big enough for dine in, but somehow it almost feels like a takeout only place as there's no server; the female owner is running the register, packing takeout orders and running dining in section. They come with fried rice, vegetable tempura, California roll (4 pieces), and 2 fried dumplings. The fried items were done well - they were crispy but not overly battered or fried. Overall: Their assorted fish is fresh. The rice is perfectly seasoned. The food is well portioned. The presentation is on point. For the maki rolls, we got eel avocado, salmon avocado, and shiitake mushroom/crispy shallots. All were amazing. I took a risk with the shiitake mushroom/shallot roll, but it really surprised me with how savory it was. This place is my new sushi place. Its 20 min away, but well worth the drive to pickup especially for the lunch specials. (Their kitchen/not sushi menu is extensive too. I haven't tried it and will soon to report back. This one was even better - which other place serves 2 generous portions of Chu Toro in their chirashi fish selection and for only $16. True connoisseurs know that it is not just the quality of the fish but perhaps more importantly the rice (gohan) and its seasoning that impart flavor to the sushi (or edo style "zushi"). We ordered the sushi/sashimi set, Hawaiian poke and Chirashi bowl. The sushi rice was perfect and the seafood was fresh and generously portioned. And despite being in a takeout container, the plating was so beautiful complete with fresh flowers. We also tried the Vietnamese porkchop bowl as well as the Penang fried rice.. Both were excellent as well. It is very nice to have this gem of a place in the suburbs.
