After taking some neighborhood streets, we arrived at the location and parked in their small lot. There was room for perhaps for 6-7 cars. Each space was labeled for whether it was for the restaurant or not. Entering, we were greeted and seated. We had about 1 hour and 14 minutes before boarding, so the staff were very accommodating and pointed out what could be made quickly (basically everything except their tandoori). They also answered questions about gluten. We ended up getting aloo tikki chaat and a lamb shank masala. They provided chickpea flour crisps with mint-cilantro and tamarind chutney. They also brought us their complimentary chai tea, which was very nice and satisfying. Their chaat was well-balanced, gluten-free (the crispies are made with chickpea flour), and it had pomengranate, chickpeas, and potatoes. The pile was dressed with yogurt, tamarind chutney, and mint chutney. Their lamb shank masala came bone-in with the curry sauce surrounding it. The lamb was well cooked, and mostly moist and tender, though there were parts that were dry. Both dishes were well-adorned, which was a nice touch. Best of all, however, was how exemplary all the staff were at the restaurant. They exuded a wonderful calmness and hospitality. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in Syracuse.

I've never eaten here in person but have ordered delivery and take out multiple times and feel that the portion sizes are well worth the cost. My recommendations absolutely include the Saffron Special Biriyani which was incredibly flavorful and had SO MUCH different proteins in it and the Lamb Shank Masala. I'm used to many places only giving the lamp shank and nothing else but Raj Saffron House gives lamb shank with multiple pieces of lamb as well. It was incredibly delicious and tender. The chicken saag and the lamb karahi are also tasty! Best Indian food in cuse!

Dining In-Person: 5 Stars Take-Out: 3 stars (0 for service,…read more5 for food) The food is really good, and if you're a regular they are always welcoming and remember you. It's been awhile since we've sat in the restaurant but whenever we do it's always a great experience. Take-out is a different story. When we've ordered on GrubHub we never get a notification stating the food is ready so we just go a little after the specified time it's expected to be ready. I don't know how orders come in from GrubHub but it seems like they don't always see them. There have been numerous times when the food isn't ready and based on the extensive time we have to wait to get the food it it's clear they hadn't even seen the order come in. This certainly isn't every time but it's happened multiple times. Recently we tried using GrubHub and but were having issues with spotty wifi so we called it in instead. They said we could pay when we arrived. I was quite shocked that the order which totaled $40 on Grubhub rang up as $53 in person (see receipts attached). I stated my surprise but their response was to try DoorDash instead next time. If you compare the receipts each main dish rang up about $2 more expensive in person than it did on Grubhub and each appetizer or dessert was $3 more. The quantity of food we received was no different than when we order via Grubhub and when called out for this I would have expected a better response. So if you're interested in picking up take out, NEVER order direct. But if you order through a third party always call to check the food is ready before picking it up so you don't waste your time waiting.

So much Indian food outside major metropolitan centers in the US is either terribly underflavored, in a sad attempt to level down to provincial palates, or by contrast overspiced, in the equally ridiculous assumption that you convey authenticity via sheer capsicum, that one approaches a place like this warily. And yet what you have here is delicately-calibrated sauces, food in which you can actually taste individual seasonings and savor their interactions, the way it's supposed to be! Samosas are fresh, crunchy crispy crust rather than the doughy glop for which we so frequently settle, and rice is perfectly fluffy. Lunch servings are just the right size - not the gargantuan american portions that let you know how dubious is the quality of the meat (margins can only be maintained on those stupid portion sizes by sacrificing quality). I won't say this place would get 5 stars in London or Chicago but it's well worth your time if you're in Cooperstown instead.

The staff were so welcoming & friendly. Very important note here- they are located upstairs in the building they are in. You'll see an entrance on the street but you have to go upstairs to get to the restaurant. Very beautiful view from the windows. We got two meals that we shared & an absolutely spectacular starter. My biggest appreciation was the fantastic flavors. Every bite I took (even of the rice) was seasoned & popped with flavor. The plates came with fresh lemon that was the perfect addition to squeeze over our meals. We had fresh herby sauces that also came with the meals that I couldn't get enough of. Fantastic meal & we will be going back. I'll also make sure to actually write down what we ordered!

Surprisingly good. Lamb was hiding inside of the mountain of rice. The owner lady told me, Afghanistan food is similar to Indian food. The difference is the ginger part. indian uses ginger, the other don't. Indian food is spicy, the other is not. Friendly service.

When my order came, it only had the paneer. The receipt on the bag had only the paneer on it, so I'm assuming it was on the restaurant's end. I can understand if they were out of that item, but they made no attempt to contact me and let me know and ask if I wanted to substitute something else. I later called the delivery service and they refunded me, no hassle, but still, this was a major bummer. By the time my food came, I was headed into a meeting and it was too late to order something else-- plus, I wasn't about to pay double delivery fees. I was really looking forward to this meal so it was a bummer that it wasn't what I was expecting, and there seemed to be no attempt at contact. The paneer was ok, but the flavor was a bit on the sour side and I wouldn't call it the best Indian food I've ever had. I'd be willing to give this spot a second try eventually but I'm not running back here after a bit of a letdown.

If you live near Syracuse University or work in the area near Upstate University Hospital, the VA…read moreor Crouse Hospital then you must be familiar with the Royal Indian Grill on 147 Marshall Street. Most notably, they serve a lunch buffet during the week that costs less than $13 and is bar none the best value for your money. I often partake in the take-out buffet during the weekdays and can't deny that its the best option for when I am really hungry and want a satisfying meal. The staff are associated with other well known Indian restaurants in the area (The Clay Oven and the Dosa Grill to name a couple) as denoted by their various polo shirts with the named establishments screen printed on the chest. On various days, I have experienced questionable attitudes from the wait staff but, most of time, I don't dine-in so my experience in this regard is not very reliable. But, be forewarned that some previous reviews have criticized the customer service of the staff and called it into question on more than a few occasions. The buffet has a wide variety of options available and they try to mix up the entrees beyond the usual Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Curry and Tandoori Chicken. On Fridays, they sometimes serve Fish Masala which is a personal favorite of mine. There are also a wide variety of vegetarian and vegan options as well beyond the salad bar. In fact, if you ever consider converting to a vegetarian diet, Indian cuisine is the way to go. The variety of options consisting of chick peas, cabbage, cauliflower, potatoes, eggplant, okra, lentils and cheese are so expertly prepared with herbs and spices that make any traditional Indian dishes absolutely delicious. If you are new to Indian cuisine you can feel confident in the knowledge that the spice levels are very mild (unless you specifically request a certain level of spiciness). Overall, its a great and affordable experience for any foodie who enjoys fragrant cuisine highlighted by herbs and spices that aren't overbearing. The buffet is all-you-can-eat and the to-go option is very filling. This is my go-to option for anytime I am famished and just want something delicious that always leaves me satisfied. You owe it to yourself to try this out. And the price point will never disappoint. What have you got to lose?

Beer recommendation: too many to list (That is a very good…read morething) A mix of very positive experiences muddled by the occasional menu item that shouldn't even bother be offered, this is a much appreciated redo of the World of Beer. A menu full of takes on classic American fare run through a different flavor profile, and it maintains the large and excellent beer selection of this spaces previous tenant. Take their menu, full of fusion into dishes like their garbage plate and flatbreads that feel unique in this area and still fit the expectation of the originals. Then there is the occasional misfire, like the vindaloo cheesesteak that looks like some premade microwaved slices on a bad roll. This has been pretty good, but if you find something like the cheesesteak, try something else. That's the weird part, for a place with excellent service, an amazing selection of beers, and an experience which places it well above other Destiny locations like Bullfinch and other generic options in the new expansion (it should always be a bad sign for a site when Cheesecake Factory is in the short list of better options to eat at like Karma and the wildly overrated Bullfinch); it needs to have a solid menu top to bottom, don't make us find out what things are crap. It's tough enough to handle the noise in there even when it isn't busy. Overall, really good spot, but a few changes to remove the dead matter will make this the only option in Destiny worth anything. ANYTHING. Do not settle, if you want food and/or beer at Destiny, this is the place
