Caldwell is culinary bad news. Even the McDonald's can be substandard - as I have found to my disappointment various times. If you are there between 11 and 2, the kolache shop on highway 21 does good sandwiches. Otherwise you may be in trouble. That said - the place that gets the vote of the locals is Masfajitas. At lunchtime, the place is MOBBED - and as a people watching place, the restaurant is just fantastic. How is the food? I have had some good meals there. But you do have to be cautious. This is a good cook - cheap raw materials place. Shrimp is frozen and usually acceptable. Beef is tolerable. AVOID THE CHICKEN AT ALL COSTS. The econo chicken that shows up in lower end Mexican restaurants and Chinese buffets is often old and questionable. It tastes okay on the plate - but as you walk out of the restaurant - you get an aftertaste that tells you you have just eaten old borderline chicken. This is never a happy moment - and I have had those moments at Masfajitas. Fortunately - they buy fresh fairly decent vegetables and these can be your salvation. Go vegetarian and you will probably be okay. So nachos, cheese enchiladas, and salads are all reasonable options. If the salads have meat on top ask for beef) On the plus side, oil workers and farmers drive in from out of town particularly to eat at Masfajitas. Locals fill every table. So Masfajitas is definitely doing something right. Choose carefully and you can get a good meal. read more

Solid TexMex restaurant. We were passing through Caldwell after camping at Mother Neff State Park. We were glad we stopped. We got the taco and enchilada with rice and beans lunch special. Everything tasted fresh and was hot. Salsa was spicy and good consistency. Server was cheerful and responsive. I like a spicier chili gravy for enchiladas. The flavor of theirs is cumin forward without much heat but this was a more old school experience. Altogether it reminded me of the Monterey House of my youth when it was good. Living not too far from the location, it has become a staple of lazy nights when I just don't feel like cooking. The meats are well seasoned and their salsa is both spicy and refreshing. I usually go for the the beef fajita chimichanga while my girlfriend tends to stick with the chicken quesadilla. If you are feeling a desert, try the flan. The service is always great, I can honestly say that I have never had a negative experience. read more

Finally came back here since the Covid-19 lockdown. It was busy busywbu we had amazing service from a new wonderful waitress and the margaritas were on point! The food was amazing. Service was great. So glad to see our local Mas Fajitas back to in house dining since Covid and honestly...it's better than ever! read more

Passing thru town on the way home and stopped for lunch on Sunday. Arrived abt 1120 am and were seated and attended to promptly. But, wow, it got busy fast! Graduations and lots of big parties is what we were told, probably in addition to the usual church crowd. We got our food fast and were on our way an hour later. Everything was hot and tasty. Salsa was very flavorful. Will be happy to come again when in town. read more

We had them cater a reunion for us. We had fajitas beef and chicken with all the fixings they were great. Delivered on time and hot. The portions were ample and fed forty. If you need to have a party catered they are the guys. If you just want a meal they are pretty darn good at that too. read more

This is the second time I have made a to go order. I had ordered 100 dollars of food each time. I get there and they lost my order. This time they claim they gave it to somebody else. I waited for them to remake it. they were supposed to have rushed the order. I had to wait 25 minutes. there was no rush. Don't bother ordering from them. The Baja fish tacos were awesome. The rice was fantastic as well. You have to try the tortilla soup. For dessert try the flan. Very friendly service. I'll go back when in Caldwell. My only issue was the numerous flies around and the restroom didn't have paper towels. Also, my father-in-Law didn't care for the enchiladas. read more

Wow!!! We just moved to Caldwell and are Mexican food fanatics so we decided to try every place here. Masfaijitas was the best hands down! First of all the customer service was incredible. They paid close attention to us and always checking on us and super fast! My dish was AMAZING and so was my husbands and moms. Everyone was so incredibly nice!!! It was also SOOOOO CLEAN! First Mexican resturant I've been to in awhile that was clean! The atmosphere trumped every other Mexican resturant here. They played Texas country and espn games on the tv. If you enjoy good Mexican food at an affordable and realistic price, do not come here. My family and I spent less than an hour inside of this establishment to eat lunch and at the end the waitress pops up with a $70+ ticket and just stands there waiting for us to produce payment. Can we have some time please? First off, you can tell from the get-go that this establishment is sourcing the lowest quality products possible and put little to absolutely zero effort into creating good tasting food. On top of that they charged us $3 for the mango and chamoy inside of the margarita which was already overpriced. I've never been to a Mexican restaurant that didn't employ a single Mexican, I think that says everything about the lack of culture and tasteless imitation of truly good cuisine. This place needs to seriously rethink what it is Mexican good truly represents. Will NEVER go back to this place and recommend you do not as well. read more

We had dinner at MasFajitas on 8/26/14. After reading the previous reviews we were a little leary about eating here. But the restaurant was very clean (even the restrooms were clean), the service was good and the food was good! My husband had the Roadkiill and said his chicken was moist, had a good flavor, and the grilled zucchini was great! We would have given this restaurant 5 stars but the guacamole was a little too salty for us. We would eat there again. read more

The food was great but.... The server, while talking about his/her family, used hateful, bigoted slurs that made me want to get up and leave. Even if it's a quote, it's not okay. The food was wonderful, but my Christian faith doesn't have room for second-class citizens, and that's a category those words create, propagate, and preserve. It didn't help that s/he mentioned how much her/his spouse hates my city, but the server didn't know whom s/he was serving. I think I'll just keep driving next time. I hope the server will eventually understand how violent s/he was, as s/he was a decent server. S/he seemed like a really nice person... the kind of person with whom I would like to be friends - sans hate speech, of course. read more

Masfajitas - What can I say I love good food, I love consistency, I love Burgers, I love Seafood and this place even has great Mexican food. Voted by me - The best hamburger in Caldwell, the best seafood in Caldwell, the best atmosphere in Caldwell and definitely the cleanest restaurant and bathrooms in Caldwell. So if your family wants something more than Mexican food I suggest giving Masfajitas a try. There is something for everyone to eat there. Nothing like enjoying an Angus burger with cheddar cheese and grilled zucchini not to mention you get to eat chips and sauce while you wait for your burger. If you want something different ask for the "Eric's Plate" tell'em I sent you, you wont be disappointed. read more

Being from Houston I tend to be quite a critic in regards to Tex Mex. I ordered the roadkill platter, considering we were the only patrons in the place for 20 minutes I could only assume they went out to high way 36 to find some roadkill to make my meal....that being said the taste was decent...if you're lactose intolerant dont bother with coming here, they drenched my entire plate with chili con queso. Don't get me wrong, I love cheese, just not a bucket of it on top of my food. There aren't too many options for eating in Caldwell, but I'd still come back and give it another chance. read more

Tonight was our first time at Mas Fajitas, and it will definitely be our last. The food and the service were both lacking. Everything tasted very generic and store bought... you could probably find better "Mexican" food at Taco Bell. Tortillas were straight out of the package and we only got 3 with our full order of fajitas for 2. We didn't even bother asking for another, it wasn't worth it. Disappointed. Again! I've tried this restaurant a couple times in the recent past, and the food was average, and the service was poor, but I'm always willing to give a second chance, and even a third chance sometimes. But never again. Went today during the lunch hour, and I couldn't even get seated. (There is a sign asking you to wait to be seated.) I noticed that there were patrons seated at maybe 3 or 4 tables at the most, and at least 5 employees were just standing around. Now I understand the lack of any sort of crowd there. When I called and spoke to the manager about their poor service that I received today and in the past, he agreed that they had poor service there.
