I see a lot of negative reviews on here and I'm shocked, really. I had a HUGE, noticeable wrinkle across my forehead. Searched or a company on Groupon. I found Marlene mash and got a great deal for 40 units of Botox. My first visit they used 30 and saved ten for a later date. The results from my first visit were absolutely phenomenal. I didn't see the recurrence of a wrinkle for at least three months, I went back to use the remainder of my groupon and it almost instantly took care of it. Dr Mash is great! She removed a few warts from my face and I look great! She really works with the insurance.

I just left Dr. Mash's office. After waiting 50 minutes, I left. You ALWAYS have to wait at least 40 minutes. I think she is rude, arrogant and greedy. She overbooks and shows patients no consideration or respect. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. I am done with her office. By the way, you only have to wait for routine appointments. If you schedule a $2,000. procedure like Ultherapy, you do not have to wait. You only have to wait 4 to 6 weeks for the bruising to go away. read more

Started going to Dr Mash years ago. Mainly, her daughter would take care of me. Everything stated in other reviews about them not caring and acting money-hungry is true. At first, I felt connected to Dr. Mash & her daughter, who did a fine job with annual checks, removing moles & dealing with other skin conditions. After that, I noticed it was difficult to know whom would see you, even if you made an appt. specifically for Dr. Mash. Once, I insisted on seeing Dr. Mash, as well as once for Mom. She has a few female assistants who seem to be there to be sure she stands and moves correctly & functions properly, There was something very wrong with her! I would not allow her to touch me now. Her daughter is quite capable, but the emphasis seems to be on cosmetic - that's where the money is - and they don't seem to want to do basic patient care. I don't like any dermatology office that appears to emphasize this kind of "care". It's a racket. I notice that past skin issue removals have not healed properly, leaving keloids or they lack melatonin and leave white spots. I am VERY disappointed that I was told there would be no scar or issue. Now I'm looking for a new Dr. for my skin care. It's also true, as the other reviews state, that you receive some sort of double billing. You have to be careful that you don't pay twice. I don't like the uncaring staff. I also got the hard sell from a skilled saleswoman on the ridiculously expensive and potentially harmful skin care. It's snake oil as far as I'm concerned. I've been going to this office for years for standard dermatological treatments. They removed a large mole for me that needed mutiple stitches and it healed nicely. They have also taken off a few small ones, again with great healing results. I'm in my 30s and still have acne. I've gone to a lot of other doctors and used a lot of nasty creams in my day, but Mr. Mash found the perfect combo for me and I couldn't be happier with the results. I can't speak to all of the cosmic treatments they do because I haven't had them there. But, I did get microdermabrasion from the American Laser Center because I won a package. They suggested practicly the same type of treatments as Dr. Mash including adding a peel, and how many and how often I should come in for the best results. If you start asking, they will mention the products they sell such as moisturizers, face srubs, masks, etc., but no more than a hair salon trying to sell you their stuff and for the same reason - it's higher quality than over the counter and to make a few extra bucks. I don't see a harm in that as where else are you going to get products recommend by a doctor who treats your face and can show you the best one for you? The couple things I've got I liked. The truth is there is no magic bullet to make you look like a photoshopped airbrushed model without makeup. Google your favorite models without makeup to just give you a reality check... honestly us ladies need to do that every now and then because it's no where else in the media. Whatever cosmic procedure you do could have risks, and it can look like you had work done, because you did! If you do decided to do something, always do your reach and see mutiple doctors. Just came back from having Botox around my eyes. This was the first time I went to Dr. Mash. I had a Groupon for the visit. Previous to this, I always went to a plastic surgeon to get Botox done. My other doctor always did a great job - no marks from the needle, no bruising, etc. BUT, with Dr. Mash, I now have (next day) numerous bruises around my eyes and red marks/puffiness from the needle! I am trying to cover it all up with makeup, which looks terrible. The lighting in her office is bad along with her being very old and shaky hands - it all made me nervous sitting there in the chair. Needless to say, I will never go back to Dr. Mash's office again & now know why they have Groupons for her office - she is not good. read more

I came to Dr. Mash's office for adult acne. First, I was charged an exorbitant amount considering I was paying out of pocket and there are groupons available. Second, when I saw the NP I was completely confused. She pushed a difficult treatment on me and then prescribed me so much medication but with little financial help. Furthermore, she never even called in 2 out of 3 of the scripts and I had to call back, etc, just to get the basic medication. After a week of going back and forth (and using it wrong because so much was thrown at me at once- at least 8-10 different treatments) I finally got everything at home and looked it up online how I should have been taking everything. I got organized, took the pills, and realized that she prescribed me medication I am allergic to! I was so ill all night and so frustrated at this whole experience. I would NEVER recommend her to anyone. I will be finding anyone, anywhere else to continue my treatments. read more

I just had my Botox appointment yesterday and am already very happy with the results. I was taken in quickly, seen within a few minutes. Very no nonsense. Which is what I like. I did not have any questions, and when I made the appointment they asked me to go to their website and fill out paperwork which saved me time as well. The staff was very friendly. The injections were absolutely painless which in my opinion means the injector is experienced and qualified. The worst experience I ever had with botox injections. I ended up having to remind Dr Mash EVERY time to be gentle and not hit a vein as I have prominent veins and bruise easily. If I did not remind her, I would get badly bruised and one time more noticeable veins appeared. On that day, to Dr Mash's credit, she noticed how upset I was and did not charge me that day. Her daughter did my forehead which was the worst experience of my life. I never had a problem with veins protruding on my forehead, now they are not only prominent, but a year later, I still experience throbbing and soreness that was not there before. I went there for a number of years, but after continuous disappointing results with bruising from the botox, the forehead nightmare was the last straw. I went there to look better and ended up looking and feeling worse. On a positive note, the overall staff are nice, friendly people and the office is neat and clean, and it was a convenient location. I was not going to post a review, but I thought it may be helpful to patients who have similar issues and helpful to the staff to be more mindful of their patients needs. read more

No, Dr. Mash is not the warmest person. I also expected the worst when I went for botox treatment and she used ice packets to try to cover the fact that she was spilling some (I felt it dribble down my face, especially when treating the second eye's crows feet). They were friendly and also had an online form to fill out so that when you get there, you are all set and seen quickly. I used a Groupon to find a place that does Botox. I had had it once before at Look Great MD and this was a much better price so I switched and I'm glad I did. Dr. Mash was nice and I appreciated that she spread the Botox across my forehead and listened to my concerns. It seems like a lot of people had a poor experience here, but I was very pleased. I only really write reviews on here when I believe they're warranted. I read a lot of the other reviews which seems mostly negative, but I bought a living social deal for here for micoderm abrasion and a super peel, now I understand that most of the negative reviews were regarding Botox, which I can not speak on but my experience was wonderful. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable (namely Hallie who preformed my procedure). Everything was very organize and ran seamlessly. I'm not sure who made the uneducated comment of front desk staff doing her procedure, but I can't imagine this ever being the case here. Perhaps a doctor did not administer the procedure but a licensed esthetician did (which mind you is very common). I will absolutely be back, my results were amazing as was my overall experience. Its my first time getting botox, so I can't say yet how I feel about the results; however, I do want to comment and give five stars to my overall treatment and friendliness of the staff and Dr. Mash. Everyone was super nice, from the front desk staff, the doctor herself who did my botox, the other medical staff and even the check out lady. I couldn't have felt more pleased with their demeanor. To be honest, as a doctors office, they are pretty terrible. I have never gone for anything "cosmetic." I have been there about 6-7 times in the past 4 years and the only reason why I stay is because I don't really feel like searching for a new derm. Each of those 6-7 times I have been there I have seen a different doctor. When I call, I can't even say who I want an appointment with because they have such turn over. When I went in college, the prescriptions were way to expensive for me, so I called to ask for something less expensive or perhaps something OTC that would be good for me. I was given a snarky response like "if the doctor didn't think you would need it she wouldn't have prescribed it." Also, their billing is a pain. I've paid before at the counter then received a bill in the mail later for it. I'm not really sure why I keep going back, it's basically because they have my info and it's easy, switching doctors can be a pain. read more

This is a very long overdue review but I figured better late than never! I started going to Dr Mash's office back in 2003 or so and have used many of her services and have seen many of the nurse practitioners. Some of the services included microderms, chemical peels and lasers. First and foremost, this place is money hungry and truly do not care about their patients - only how much they can get you to spend by telling you that you need microderms on top of peels on top of lasers every 3-4 weeks. I was desperate, ingnorant and foolish not to do my research or seek other opinions because I wanted so badly to get rid of acne and acne scars. I didnt have severe acne and my scars weren't terrible either but I was so vain that I thought I needed to take desperate measures to rid my face of such imperfections. Dr Mash and her staff took advantage of that and put me on some crazy, expensive program that has literally changed my face/skin forever - and not in a good way. I would take pimples and scars over what I deal with on a daily basis which is ULTRA sensitive skin, thinning & aging skin, and loss of volume/fat in my cheeks. They were so aggressive with my treatments advising that I need to come once a month for hard-core peels that you would normally give someone who has very mature skin and Pixel Laser treatments on the highest setting that would make me look like a burn victim for several days that I couldn't leave the house. I was convinced though that this was the answer to perfect, flawless skin...I put my faith in this office and trusted them...shame on me. I have seen other renound dermatologists in Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs who were beyond shocked at the treatments I received. I have read several articles and blogs where people have had similar reactions to the peels/lasers I have had. One dermatologist at Jefferson University Hospital said that the laser I had is something older people would start having ONCE every 10-15 years!! And I did these treatments once a month for YEARS starting at age 25. Not only was it money thrown away, but I'm left with bad skin and I'm only 35. I come from a family with amazing genes who look half their age. My mom is 61 years old and looks incredible - her skin is plump and radiant - no hollowness in her cheeks. Had I not gone through with these procedures that were presented to me in a way that I too would look a lot younger than my age, I wouldn't have to deal with the gaunt look I have now. I don't smoke or drink, use sunscreen on a daily basis, eat healthy, workout and get 8 hours of sleep every night. I do not live a stressful lifestyle. I actually weigh more than I ever have but am still below average as I'm 5'6 and weigh 123 lbs - but the point is, the rest of my body has a little more meat but my face looks like I weigh about 100 lbs. I shouldn't have to go to therapy and take anti-depressants because I have no self confidence anymore but because I listened to Dr Mash and her office staff, these are repercussions I have faced for the last few years. DO NOT go here and DO NOT give them a cent for their awful services. You will regret it. I certainlty did and I'm left with skin that I hate looking at in the mirror. It is not worth it...the thousands of dollars I spent and countless treatments were a total waste and left a permanent scar on the outside and within. read more

I've been to the estitician here. The effect on skin is only so-so. The price is really expensive. $85 for 1/2 hour treatment. I think $165 for the whole hour. None of the several peels I had did anything amazing to my skin for the price. Make sure you specify you want the estitician. They have office clerks doing peels as well. They say they've been trained specifically for the peels. Sometimes the clerk gives you a peel, and other times when you're in the office you see her filing and/or working the front desk. 100% absolutely horrible. I purchased a groupon that consisted of 40 units... I'm 33 and This was my very first time to ever get Botox. The "very experienced" nurse practitioner (Lisa) I think her name is didn't listen to one word I said... My exact words were "if I don't need all 40 units then I'll be happy with not using them no refund necessary" But oh no she pumps all 40 into my face (mostly my forehead). Now I'm stuck with saggy skin on my eyelids and nonstop puffiness under my eyes. Yes, I get plenty of sleep and lead a very healthy lifestyle so there's absolutely no reason why my eyes should look like this. Furthermore, my eyes have never looked like this until after my Botox set in. And just to be certain I went and got a second opinion and they agreed I was "WAY over botoxed" I have to use my finger to lift up my eyelids so my makeup will look half way decent. Save your money. I bought the groupon for 40 units of Botox. The Physician's assistant did the injection. Her and the aid were leaning over me discussing where the injections should go. You could tell the PA wasn't comfortable. Results horrible! When I was there, they did offer that I could return in a week if a touch up was needed. I tried numerous times to get hold of this office. There was no answer, and at first not even voice mail to leave a message. When I finally got my appointment, the botox was injected by an assistant, not by the doctor herself, who i never even met. I made my appointment and then read the Yelp reviews. I was a little nervous but I am thrilled I kept my appointment. I cannot believe anyone would have anything but wonderful things to say. The front desk staff is wonderful and Lisa took the time to listen to my concerns and did exactly what I requested. No one attempted to sell me anything I wasn't there for. I have been a patient of Dr. Mash for the past 8+ years and would not even think of going to any other dermatologist. I have had botox, fillers, facial peels and microdermabrasion over the years. Every time I walk into the office I feel like part of a family of professionals who are there to assist me in whatever is needed. This is not a hard sell office. Dr. Mash takes the time to listen to my concerns and makes gentle suggestions for improvement. She is the consummate professional yet so warm and friendly every time we meet!
