San Francisco parking in the union square area can get VERY expensive as most hotels in the area charge anywhere from $60-$70 a night. This time, my hotel didn't even offer parking so I had to look nearby for available parking and found this GEM a block away from my hotel. For $43 a day, you can park here and it is secured. You also get in an out privleadges here. Just make sure to go to the teller to get your ticket validated for in an out perks. I was staying here during a festival weekend and still managed to find parking here easily each time I would return. There are two entrances into the structure off of Mason and off of O'Farrel so just a heads up on that. Overall, I will defenitly be back if I ever need parking again. The staff here were incredibly kind and polite so that was a huge plus for me. Truly a great experience . read more

Very convenient parking near union square. Was a 5 min walk from our hotel. Had a mid-sized sedan that was partially sticking out so if you got a bigger car, might need some extra time finding parking. $38 daily self parking beats $90 valet parking in the hotel. Down the street there's 433 Mason St garage - valet only for $50 which I personally don't feel safe unless the service is provided through a hotel. read more

Parking on average is about $40 overnite but Mason O'Farrell was a little cheaper at $38. I was driving an SUV. This made driving in and out a bit difficult going through the curling ramp to get to the higher floors. The 1st two floors were reserved for the car rental companies. You can only pay for your tickets by the elevators on the 1st floor. So, be sure to keep your ticket with you. If you want in and out access you can pay $5 more for that. Might be worth it depending on your plans. I'm not sure how to set that up. You may need to speak to a staff member for that during regular business hours. The area during the day is okay. At night it gets sketchy. Be aware of your surroundings. Plan your trip ahead to avoid undesirable situations. read more

** Specifically reviewing for pricing due to having tickets at The Curran ** We accepted the fact that this garage would be the most convenient without having to circle around to find street parking. If you have tickets for a show at The Curran, there is a discounted rate of $15 for 5 hours. This is a steal. Definitely take advantage. Now the spaces are kind of tight. So be careful of dinging the car next to you or go to a floor where there's less cars. The first two floors are for rental cars. Starting at Floor 3 is where you can park. If you're running late, I would say just keep going until you see a lot of space instead of taking the time to circle to hopefully find a spot. We had roughly 12 minutes left to find parking before the show started, we finally found spots at floor 7. We did took some time on Floor 3 and 4 and then decided, we were wasting time. So we kept going up until it looked more free. Paying was really easy. One of the attendants stays near the payment machines and you put your ticket in, and they put in a ticket to put in the discount. Overall, it's convenient especially when you have a show at The Curran. Spaces are tight though so just be careful. read more

I believe it was $37 for overnight parking, which isn't very off from most parking in this area. My biggest issue was the slope to get up and down the lot. It wasn't like a normal garage, but was a windy/spiral pathway. It made it incredibly hard to get up and down the garage. If you can find a better garage for the same price, I'd recommend it. read more

This is a garage that is well managed and open 24 hours. It can be a little expensive where for about 4 hours but is more cost effective for longer stays. There is a security guard at the entrance who monitors the coming and goings of all the cars. read more

With tickets to see the Soul Train musical at the ACT on Geary St., we were thinking as to where to park for the show. While on the ACT website, I saw that theatergoers can park up to five hours at the Mason & O'Farrell Garage for $15 upon show your show ticket upon exiting for this theater discount. The garage is down the block from the Theater on Mason St, which is the entrance to the garage. The sign says general parking starts on the fifth floor. Taking the elevator down to the lobby, you pass by the pay station machines to Mason St and make a left up to the ACT on Geary St. After the show, they had parking attendants at the pay stations. The attendant was efficient and guided me through the pay process and getting my special discounted price. You insert your parking ticket into the machine and show him your theater ticket and the $15 price is reflected on the machine. Pay and take your parking ticket and you're ready to go. A convenient parking garage if you're watching a show in the area. If your show is at the ACT, you even get to park at a special rate of $15 for five hours. read more

I came to this garage earlier today to quickly pick up lunch nearby. I parked on the 5th floor and paid for my parking using one of the ticket machines on the way out. After inserting my ticket and paying with my credit card, I never received the ticket back -- so I assumed it was one of those license plate recognition systems that registers payment automatically. When I went to exit and realized the gate still required the physical ticket, I asked one of the employees by the gate for help. He was polite and told me to go inside, and that he'd keep an eye on my car. When I went to the office, however, I was met by an extremely rude employee who immediately started berating me. Rather than calmly explaining the situation or helping resolve the issue, he called me a "f***ing idiot," "stupid," and continued cussing at me for simply not having my ticket. Regardless of whether the machine malfunctioned or I didn't see the ticket come back out, that level of verbal abuse is unacceptable in any customer-facing job -- especially when I had already paid. Eventually, after continuing to insult me, the employee opened the payment machine and found my paid ticket still inside. So clearly, the issue wasn't entirely on me. Even if it had been, there's no excuse for the way I was spoken to. Also, for what it's worth, it cost $9 to park for less than 20 minutes -- which feels excessive -- but the cost isn't why I'm leaving this review. I'm doing it to make sure this kind of behavior doesn't happen to anyone else. That employee needs to be retrained on basic customer service and human decency. Completely unacceptable. read more

Went to a play at the Toni Rembe Theater. Tickets suggested we park in this garage. So glad for the recommendation! 1st - garage is easy to access. 2nd - garage is literally right around the corner from the theater. So it was easy walking distance. 3rd - bonus - if we showed our ticket stub from the performance - we only paid $15 for parking! 4th - they had staff waiting at each of the pay stations to assist us with providing that discount to us. Very efficient and pleasant process. The only reason I'm giving this review a 4 is that the first couple of levels of the garage are for car rental return - so just be prepared to park on a higher level. read more

If you need nearby parking to the The Curran theater, this is a good choice. It's less than a two minute walk from the theater and our originally $38 parking fee was $15 because we went to a show. There is a lot of signage at the entrance that it's overwhelming. We ended up driving to the bottom floor which is for car rental returns. After you get your ticket and drive up, the first two or three floors are reserved for car rentals because this place is connected to a Hertz. They have staff on the bottom floor to direct you back up if you find yourself down there by accident, staff at the pay stations in the lobby to help give you the discount, and staff at the exit to insert your ticket into the machine. read more

The mason O'Farrell garage is in a very good location to the Curran theater. We use this for went to see Sesame Street live. The only thing that I would say would be a con is if you had a larger car; like an SUV, because the ramp to go up and down from each level is super narrow with a small wall to the right of the ramp. The lanes on each level of the garage are really narrow as well. Just forewarned. read more

Ok, May experience at this garage was freaking horrendous I lived in San Francisco my whole life everyone says don't get a car I decided to get a 2015 BMW which obviously I cannot park on the street in my neighborhood near this garage. For about a week I've been taking advantage of the $45 In-N-Out Pass yesterday at 11 AM I parked my car in the garage and I need it to be moved today by 11 AM when I got to the garage this morning I skateboarded Down being that I live up the hill as I walked into the garage I was stopped by A man named Eddie asking me if I had paid for my parking I proceeded to tell him politely oh yeah I paid for it yesterday he then wait for me to get on the elevator takes the next elevator up to the fourth floor and gets off I see him watching me so I asked him if everything is OK he proceeds to tell me there is no skateboarding in the building. My skateboard is in my hand no intent to ride my skateboard anywhere As I proceed to the direction of my car he follows me all the way to my car and actually asked me to get away from my car because he doesn't believe that it's mine I hear him on the walkie-talkie saying "he doesn't have a car here" I felt so unwelcome in this garage personally I would already rate this garage two out of five stars. I get into my car eddy basically follows me all the way back around towards the down slope. Had a great experience at this parking structure yesterday. Had been researching where to park for a show I would be attending at Curran theater. I was reading a lot of reviews and getting freaked out with the bad comments. Was pretty worried about my car getting broken into or damaged from the tight parking spot or even being able to find a spot because the garage is in downtown San Francisco and figured it would be full. Everything worked out perfect though. It was easy to get to, lots of signs showing you where to go, I did have a bit of trouble finding a spot and was on the 7th floor (I think there are 9) and all spots were taken on all the floors up until then so I was starting to worry I would not find a spot. Saw some people coming out of the elevator and going to their car right in front of me so I lucked out. The spots are skinny and long but I happen to have a tiny fiat so I was able to park far over next to the pillar and way back so when the car next to me opened their doors my car was so far back that they could fling their door open as far as they wanted and it was nowhere near my car (perks of owning a tiny car). Took absolutely everything out of my car to prevent break in and had no problem with that. Also when leaving to go back to car a very very nice worker that was in a small room across from the elevator that goes up to each parking floor helped me with the pay machine and gave me a discount on parking due to having gone to a show at the Curran. If you go to a performance nearby and show a parking attendant your ticket to the show you just went to you get a discount and pay only $15! He was so friendly and nice I wish I had gotten his name but I did not. Anyhow didn't hang in the garage too much but it seemed well kept and the workers were there to help and I would for sure use this garage again! read more

If I could give this zero stars I would! My boyfriend works as an intern as a management trainee and does many pick ups and drops off at this location. Never has he had an issue with this location until today June 22nd (around 4:30-5pm)  as he was dropping this car off an employee harassed him for some sort of identification to prove he was working for the company and would not let him leave after many attempts! Needless to say, he was black and had to prove he was picking up a vehicle and that he worked for the company. I hope this location takes this post into some serious consideration, because if it's happening once then that means its happening twice. read more

Cars can stay here overnight and if you're not planning to leave it's just $38 per day versus our hotel a block away that would charge us $70, plus we don't have to tip a valet. read more

There's nowhere else I'd be found parking at night after 5:30pm than at the Mason O'Farrell Garage. For a $15 flat rate, it's a steal compared to any other garage! Ever since I became a regular at Ruby Skye from 2005-2007, I never had any problems parking at this garage. It's airy and cleaner than most garages in the area. And now that I'm too old for clubbing, it's become my preferred garage when I'm in the area. I parked on the third floor during the 2009 Yelp Unwrapped Holiday Party. At 5:38pm, parking was easy to find. Upon rolling up the entry ramp before grabbing the validation ticket, there's an electronic board which monitors the available spaces in each floor. It's not accurate to the point, but I find it very helpful. Even if you get there before 5:30pm, the parking attendants will sometimes let you slide by and reprogram your entry time so you can get away with it. HINT: Don't park in the corners. Sometimes when people are drunk and you can't find an immediate restroom, the next best place to pee is in the corners. Be careful of puddles! read more

As I write this review I need to make it clear that I am not too familiar with SF Parking Garages besides knowing that rates at any garage you go to are going to insane and you're going to feel like all your hard earned cash is going to park your car. With that being said, I did what I thought I'd never do and busted a mission to SF for a show at Ruby Skye. Was it worth? Yes because the headliner/DJ I came to see made sure the night was lit. I stayed for roughly 2-3 hours and my parking fee at this garage came out to be $24. On first glance I was like "Bye monies!" but I guess in retrospect and in terms to just HOW CLOSE it is to Ruby Skye I really couldn't complain. Like, fees could be worse (is the assumption I am making - so please do correct me if I'm wrong)! But maybe my perspective was also biased and jaded, which I am only saying because 1) I'm down to pay for convenience and 2) IDGAF I was ready and down to turn up and get my groove on and I was already scared enough driving in the city. SO, all in all - Yeah this place is pricey, but it probably could be a lot worse. If you're down to pay for convenience and you want to ball out do it. But be aware this parking garage is nowhere near to fancy. It's pretty small and old & as you're trying to maneuver around (yes, even with a regular old sedan) it can feel like it's harder than it should be. So weigh your options. Do your research. Figure out your budget. Or make someone else drive and chip in for gas and parking. But don't say you were never warned to do so! I mean you could always take public transportation or a ride share to your destination, am I right? Haha. read more

These people seriously need to adjust their timeclock. My sweet friend Nan recently treated me to a writing workshop held at the King George Hotel, and the Mason O'Farrell Parking Garage seemed like it could be a good place to park, given that it was right across the street and we knew we'd be parked for at least 4 hours. We'd originally decided against it, when we saw their rate is 2.50 for every 20 minutes, or $29 for a flat 24 hr. rate. Given the fact that Nan offered to pay for everything since she knows I don't have the money to be going out at ALL while i'm on an unpaid writing sabbatical, I voted we park south of market and just backtrack a few blocks. But then she sees the part where it says if you enter AFTER 5:30, it's just $15, and according to the clock in Nan's car, it's now 5:20. She's says what I'm thinking too: Hell, let's just sit here in the car, shoot the shit while we listen to Stevie Nicks, and wait 10 minutes till it's 5:30 so we can qualify for the evening rate. So, we waited in an empty area just to the side of the entrance. When her car clock says it's 5:30, we decide to call "popcorn" juuuuust to make sure it really is 5:30 and we won't get stuck with a day rate by clocking in at, say, 5:29:59.... Well, according to Ms. Popcorn, at the tone the time was five..... thirty..... and FIFTY SECONDS, might I add. It was ALSO after 5:30 according to my watch, Nan's watch, BOTH of our cell phones, and, again, the clock on Nan's dashboard. So, we figure it's safe to proceed into the garage. Right? Given the fact that ALL SIX of our time resources dictated it should be AT LEAST 5:31 by the time we pushed the button, it was a little surprising to see the clock-in time on our ticket actually read "5:27 PM" (Nan didn't notice but I have a seriously suspicious hawk-eye for this kind of thing). "What a bunch of bullshit!" I said. "F--- that, Nan, we're not paying 29 bucks! I'm talking to the manager." I try to get out, intending to kick some orange cones out of the way so she can pull over to the side, but all the doors are on auto-lock and Nan is too busy trying to push the button again to make another ticket come out, to realize I'm trapped (either that or she was just pretending to be preoccupied while she was afraid of what I might do if she unlocked the doors). A garage attendant spots us, stalling there while 3 cars are now lined up behind us (I felt like telling them, look people, this little delay is probably going to save you 14 bucks so stop giving us that look). "Hide the ticket!" whispers Nan as Mr. Parking Attendant guy walks over to our car to see what's up. I shove it under my seat. Nan says, sweetly to Mr. Attendant, "I don't know what's wrong with the clock. It didn't give us a ticket." She continues pushing on the button, demonstrating how there must certainly be something wrong with the machine, as a couple of innocent looking gals like us surely wouldn't be the type to make this shit up. I know, maybe we should have just complained that their clock is off, but I think we both realized this route would end up saving us a good amount of time and headache in case he tried to give us the "well-you-pushed-the-button-so-there's-nothing-i-can-do-about-it" routine. Luckily, the guy seems to believe our story, opens up the box, fiddles around with something, closes the box and pushes the button again for us. Out pops our new ticket which reads, like it should have the first time: 5:30 (only because a few minutes have passed). Now, I know lots of clocks don't sync up, but if your clock is FOUR MINUTES SLOWER than what 6 other sources in your average customers' cars are coming up with.... it looks a liiiiittle on the fishy side if yaknowwhatimean... If someone who works there can vouch it's been fixed, i'll be more than happy to adjust this pissy-ass review, but... I'm not holding my breath. And I'm not buying the idea that the clock just needs to be fixed, cause with all the extra money this place has been making from all the people who've been over-charged fourteen bucks, it should have been fixed by now. I always park here when I am going to the Curran Theatre...it is especially great because its only $12 parking when attending a show! The garage is very big and very well lit...my only complaint and what kept it from getting 5 stars is that it ALWAYS smells like piss!!! Like ALWAYS, I don't get it...we're grown ups people!! Can't you go before you leave the club/bar?? or wait till you get home?? Word of advice, DO NOT park next to any wall or type of barrier that could be used to hide some jerk taking a piss cause I can guarantee you will step in a piss puddle that way! No real complaints. The garage was right next to our hotel and charged ten bucks less, so it was a relative deal. There was another garage up the street that boasted $20 with in and out privileges, but we didn't check it out. The pay machines are abundant and fast. We kept the car here for three nights with no problems. I just wish that we could have been able to use the car in between without having to pay another fee. The elevators are a little ornery. They like closing, and they like closing fast. We saw two families lose a child in the elevators. Unfortunately, one was quite small, and the family freaked that he was alone in a sketchy elevator in SF. Bottom line: hold on to your children! read more

This parking garage is not only expensive, but it's filled with hooligans who loiter around your car and make you fear for your car's life. Oh, and did I mention its a total mc dump a dump??? Park your car on the street (if you can find it) it will probably be safer. My suggestion though is to go to the sutter parking garage. It's easier to navigate, cheaper, and you have the security of free valet parking (which means liabilities fall onto them, what whaaaat). Even if it's a convenient location, park in the sutter parking garage and just burn some calories by walking farther. read more

Been parking here for over 3 years since my office is a block away. People that work in the area can get a discounted rate by providing proof. The a**hole employee decided to not honor the discount even with my proof of employment, so I was forced to pay an additional $21 without the validation. The man behind me was given the ticket validation even without showing any kind of proof. Completely ridiculous. Will not be parking here again. read more
