SAL FISH SPECIAL with Everything BAGEL

I've always wanted to come and try this place and finally got a chance. Was craving for a bagel with lox cream cheese tomato and onions and it hits the spot. Nice seating area and also very cozy. The service was awesome and the workers are very nice. Will definitely be coming back.

The bagels and cold sandwiches are good. I've tried the fat boy and the chicken cutlet sandwich. The fat boy was so thin (not fat at all) and very dry. I added hot sauce but ultimately couldn't finish it because of the lack of flavor. The chicken cutlet sandwich was alright. It originally comes in a ciabatta but they ran out so I ordered it on a hero. They charged me an extra $1 for the hero without telling me. I think this was unfair especially since they ran out of ciabatta at 12pm. My friend ordered a hungry man sandwich and they only included one sausage and cut it in 3 thin slices, and one bacon. Very disappointing. To top it off, the owner's son came in with his friends to order hamburgers and they put their orders first which caused everyone to wait 20+ minutes for their order. The cashiers also need to speak up, it's very hard to hear them. You have to lean in to hear what they are saying especially when they are calling out orders. It's always great when there are new spots in Maspeth but they definitely have a lot of kinks to work out.

Great bagels. Brought them back to Virginia for my NTC/Queens diaspora friends. All were satisfied!

worst place in Maspeth, you place an order and they send whatever they want, besides taking an hour for delivery

Seriously it's like walking back into the 90s in Ridgewood. I'm not gonna lie, I had high expectations for being a bespoke southern breakfast sandwich shop because I like my morning flavors savory. They had some fun ideas like a cheese something biscuit whatever but I wouldn't know cause they gave me the wrong sandwich. It was busy so I didn't bother mentioning it... but this place always seemed busy, so maybe they should be used to it? Anywho, I ended up with two of their classic BEC and it was pretty standard and kind of a letdown for Southern. The wait on the line and the 15ish minutes after and the price weren't so standard but this was their last week, so you pick your battles.

I honestly have faith in anything that comes from their kitchen but their "New Yorker" with the spicy bacon and jam is my favorite combination! Make sure you order it on the cheddar and chive biscuit as well, and I must say that they definitely make one of the best chive and cheddar biscuits that I've ever had! They also make a MEAN bundt cake that I forgot to take a pic of. My ONLY hiccup with them is their wait time. Called in my order 20 minutes before I arrived and still waited an additional 30 minutes once I got there smh.... But don't worry I'll be back lol Ambiance is like a local coffee shop. Literally a Corner Shoppe lol.

After ordering, you need to wait 15 minutes before your sandwich is out - at least there's a lot of searing inside so you can definitely enjoy your sandwich inside!! Got the two most popular sandwiches - dill party and chicky. - dill party (4.5/5): this sandwich was almost perfect - the only thing it was missing was the crunch factor. The bread could have been slightly more toasted (it was a bit soft and didn't have a crunch), there could have been more pickled, or the addition of chips in the sandwich, but other than that, the ingredients of the sandwich were so fresh and the turkey was perfect - not dry at all, not too much as it may seem - chicky (4.5/5): this sandwich was a bit heavier. the bread was cooked a bit better but could have been a bit more toasted, but the chicken meatball - holy moly this was perfect. it was so soft and juicy and full of flavor Overall, this sandwich spot is definitely worth the trek and visit to try it out. the only thing that would make it 5 stars is just slightly more toasted sandwiches :)

As far as the dining area- The restaurant was spacious, composed of neatly lined tables and chairs with their centerpiece luncheonette bar gracing the room. Their al fresco arrangement was remarkable- with their lighter hued blue and green colored metallic seats and tables quietly lining the corner of Menahan street. A softboi haven. I imagined this to be a type of restaurant where a newlywed Mormon couple in the Great Plains would run. A place where pleasantries and support for one's neighbor is what mattered. "Another delicious sandwich, Hezekiah. See you guys in church." but truthfully, I felt a bit sour overriding my preference for the reliable in favor for the novel. A half chicken over yellow rice with plantains might have been the better option for my pocket, palate, and my need to protein max. But woe is me. Regardless, I'll have to respectfully pass on seconds at the Salty Lunch Lady's.
