The pickles were also great too. The pickles reminded me of a Japanese style appetizer I can't remeber the name of Delicious sweet potato fries and dipping sauce. The portion was surprisingly generous for the price, and the flavors were spot-on, spicy, sweet, and savory all at once. The chicken was perfectly cooked, and the spicy peanuts were such a good touch. I also grabbed some fried pickles, which were dangerously good, especially with their homemade ranch. I couldn't stop eating them. My friend joined me later and ordered sweet potato fries and another round of fried pickles, both of which we destroyed without hesitation. The sweet potato fries are so pillowy and the sauce that they came with had like a creamy Sriracha sauce, which I was in love with. Overall, the food was way better than I expected. Great place for burgers - no seriously their burgers are Amazing! Our party of 3 all got the Seneca double burgers and they definitely hit the spot after hours standing at a concert! The fried pickles and sweet potatoes fries were so delicious as well. Upon entering you will see a sign that states to seat yourselves. I thought that this place was pretty cool at first because there were some alternative people when I was first coming to this bar but when I came up the bartender she was extremely rude to me and my friend. We were polite the whole time and every time we would say thank you she would say just say "yeah sure" but also made one of our drinks wrong. This place is good time to hang out with your friends and catch up! The ambiance is nice and dark, kind of like a darker lounge but also a very casual place. It is self seat so just find any seats open and sit down! My other two friends and I came on a Sunday night and there weren't as many workers so service was a bit slow/not super friendly and welcoming. We each ordered the Seneca single patty ($11 each) which is similar to a smashburger, ordered a tray of fries ($9), sesame salad ($13?). My friend also ordered a beer - total came out to be $78 with tip. My favorite was the salad which complimented the burger really well because there were no veggies in the burger except for one pickle. The fries were shoe string fries but my personal preference is the thicker type. I would probably come back here again fro the salad and maybe grab a beer next time as well! Went here for a birthday party and had a good time! I had a burger and fries and they were soooo good. They're thin like a smash burger and thats my favourite! The cheese and sauce were perfect. The ones we had were smaller, so I definitely could have eaten like 5 of them. The fries were good, too. Thin and crunchy. It wasn't too busy since it was during the afternoon, but the wait at the bar was still long. I got the cucumber gin drink and it was pretty tasty. The ambiance was nice, but again I was here during the day. It was pretty chill, low key. Not sure what the vibe would be at night. Tom Ballinger, the owner, has become a life-long friend and I'm constantly amazed at how much time and investment he puts into this amazing bar. I also have to shoutout Roof Alexander for being a wonderful friend and bartender. I split the RODEO burger with a friend with the plantain appetizer (know the menu is always rotating) and I was in heaven. Roof made the best espresso martini. Tom recommended a wonderful IPA. I miss this place so much I could cry! I have a hat that no one else has and I have worn it delivering mail and every single day when I am outdoors. Despite being located firmly on the Queens side of the Ridgewood-Bushwick border this place is very much of the "New-Brooklyn" variety that has became so common to the point of over-saturation in the past decade plus in that borough and across the planet. It's evident the moment you walk in and see that particular breed of design and layout, as well as the thoughtfully selected local and rarer craft beers on offer on tap and bespoke cocktails offered, sadly at a good 2-3 bucks higher than at any other bar in the area, and likely 4-5 more than some of the longtime dives that may be barely hanging on at this point. This is surely one of the ugliest and most infuriating aspects of harbingers of gentrification like this, new establishments pricing drinks significantly higher in order to keep a "certain element," aka longtime residents who made the wonderful neighborhood what it is to begin with, out, while catering to yuppie scum who will immediately pick up in this dog-whistle pricing and fork over the extra dollars to avoid the possibility of having to rub shoulders with their working class neighbors. Happy hour is extremely limited in terms of options offered and generally include none of the good beers I would like to drink. Despite this disturbing pricing and the dark culture of greed and elitism/racism behind it, this place has become something of a go-to of mine when in the area on the strengths of its other good qualities, of which there are many. Firstly the food is really really solid superior the a good number of the similar bars in the neighboring borough. Really excellent burgers, of the more shake-shake-esque fast-food "smash" school, on a delicious potato bun, as well as excellent super thin fries accompanied by an awesome house made ranch dressing are probably the menus stars. It's surely ranks as one of the better burgers in the borough, once you remember you are in Queens, that is... From there you've got solid, somewhat new school wings breaded and non-traditional but yummy, along with an equally solid if extremely ubiquitous Mac and cheese with bacon. The only dish I found somewhat disappointing, despite eyeing up a delicious looking dish a patron was inhaling across the bar, was the spicy crispy chicken sandwich. While adequately cooked and juicy, it was overpowered by an odd tasting and saccharine-sweet hot sauce. They were however also accompanied by those delicious shoestring fries and ranch dip, offering some carby-consolation. Beyond the delicious food and drink, this bar managed to carve out its place in my heart as all good bars do, on the strength of its staff, overall really cool and professional, and offering a good cross-section of random New Yorker clientele, including, yes longtime residents as well as recent transplants from every where you could imagine and more, of which I have managed to have some good, interesting and properly weird New York conversations, as you should and any good NYC bar. While the pricing is unfortunate and hopefully maybe the owners may see this and be inspired to drop drink prices (I won't hold my breath), the place has also nonetheless and in spite of itself seemingly endeared itself to the hood to some degree by hosting movie nights, trivia nights, community council events and other such community-fostering events. Also, the space while the design would maybe rate as cliche even 10 years in BK, its undeniable gorgeous and welcoming. Wow. What an unexpected spot in Ridgewood! I'm so happy to have stopped in. The vibe is awesome. A pretty low key, beautifully decorated bar/restaurant with plenty of space. Drinks are on point (as others have said) and the limited menu (my favorite kind) was stacked with classics: burger / chicken / salad... Friendly service, FANTASTIC burger and fries (think Shake Shack), and nice seating. I will most certainly be coming back to try more of the rotating beer and cocktail specials. When I ordered my French toast it came with cold apple topping as well as cold French toast. I waited for about 10 mins for the server to come back to see how the food was I kindly let her know the food was cold. The server took the food back, brought back the same plate heated up, the food was soggy and had bad taste. The Seneca has really done a lot to endear themselves to the neighborhood, and they've only been around about a year. They have delicious, eclectic food that they're constantly switching up and experimenting with. They have great cocktails, a superb beer and wine selection, and a really respectably stocked bar. They also function as a great cafe during the day with excellent brunch fare, coffee and wifi. The space is large and beautiful, and you can always hear the person you're talking to. It's a relaxing and fun spot day and night that has become a go-to for me and my wife. But the main thing I wanted to write this review about is what they did for my wife and I for our wedding rehearsal dinner. We had wanted to do something with the Seneca, as it's one of our favorite local spots and we were trying to keep everything in the neighborhood. What we were expecting was to piece together a dinner for our family with the stuff they had on the regular menu, and to set up a simple bar tab - but Corey and his team went so far above and beyond to make the dinner truly special. They sat down with us to figure out exactly what kind of food and wine we were into, and designed a menu based around that and our budget. What came out the other end was really fantastic. I even suspect some of the stuff they came up with for our event ended up on the regular menu. In short: really good food, delicious drinks, chill vibes, and an amazing team working there. Go there to eat, go there to drink, but most of all talk to them about doing your next event because they absolutely killed it for us. read more

The place looks nice, but we had to leave. Someone had their dog wandering around by their table barking (it was at least on a leash as far as I could tell). This is both disruptive to the nice ambiance that the restaurant seems capable of and absolutely disgusting and unsanitary. Needless to say, we didn't stay to eat, so I can't comment on the food. So, if you're a "dogs are people too" type, this is your spot, bring Fido along. However, if you prefer to dine exclusively with humans, go elsewhere. read more

I really liked this place. Decided to check it out before class. They have a really awesome beer selection - you can even do a flight if you would like. They also have kombucha on tap which is so hard to find! We got the wings and there were delish - a little small- but great none the less. I'm ashamed to say that I haven't been to The Seneca until this morning, because apparently this gem has been around since June! And I'm sad to say that I decided to come by and visit while partaking in 'Dry January' because this place looks like my dream neighborhood bar--great happy hour specials, a robust selection of drafts and cans, and a well-stocked liquor selection. What I can personally attest to is that the food here is delicious. As a former Austinite I have pretty high standards for breakfast tacos, but I have no hesitation saying that The Seneca's tacos are worth swapping your morning bagel routine for. I tried the egg, cheese, and avocado taco with salsa and was in love... the flour tortilla was grilled to perfection (none of that sogginess) and there was *plenty* of avocado to go around. I also got the avocado toast because it was one of the cheaper versions I've seen at $6. Glad I did - just like with the taco they didn't skimp on the avocado and topped it with some peppers and greens to add some texture. Add some salsa to the top and you're good to go! The vibe of this place is amazing. I'll have to come back at night during traditional bar hours, but there's plenty of seating and comfortable booths if you want the traditional brunch experience. Bartenders are some of the friendliest I've met and let me know about their events which include jazz brunch on Sundays and DJs on the weekend. Sometimes bars in Brooklyn (and anywhere, really) have an air of pretension but I didn't feel that at all here. All in all, I'll definitely be back to The Seneca soon. read more
