For a therapist who advertises herself as experienced in working with hospice patients and people with cancer, we expected so much more and were disappointed from start to finish. Julia came unprepared, having forgotten the covering for the face cradle and put paper towels over it instead ("we'll make do"). She was taken aback that I didn't want her to put the AC on while my elderly mom was on the massage table and exposed (the room was comfortable for both myself and mom). She was defensive when my mom said the massage table was uncomfortable ("nobody's ever said that before!") and when I tried to ensure she safely turned onto her side ("no one's ever fallen off my table"). And when my mom, who is in the end stages of cancer, became nauseous and had to sit up, instead of giving her a few minutes to feel better, she suggested she could just keep working on her legs (her clock was ticking). I gave her a rating of 2 because the actual massage was nice for my mom. But Julia's demeanor was cold, rude, and she had very little empathy, which is the last thing we expected or needed at this difficult time. read more

This is my first review and sorry to say it's not good. I spent nearly 11 hours in the ER last week because of this lady far from having a touch for a massage therapist and rude I may add. After leaving her I was in pain from my neck down to my back. Wasn't sure if I did something wrong to her or maybe she was mad about something else. I'm currently on bed rest I don't recommend her to anyone. Very rude and a lot to say for no reason I'm a fan of good conversation but some of things she talked about was not for me. I scheduled post surgery lymphatic massage sessions with Julia almost a month in advance. The day of the appointment, I was in a tremendous pain after my surgery and took a pain pill an hour before, as recommended by my doctor. Having not slept a whole night before because of pain, I fell asleep for an hour. Our appointment was at 3pm and I called her back at 3:09. She said she called my friend who was supposed to show her where to park but my friend never received a call. Instead of just parking at visitors spot and going up to my apartment ringing the bell where we certainly would have heard her and opened the door, she left. When I called her begging her to come back at 3:09 and explaining the situation, she abruptly said no and hung up on me. For a person who works with cancer patients, I would expect her to have a little more compassion and understanding. She left me in tremendous pain and without an opportunity to book anyone else on such short notice. People like this should not be in business of helping people heal. Update: my friend never received your phone call. I explained it to you and your cold and rude response made ME feel disrespected. It's not my fault that you have arrived earlier than we agreed. If you were a responsible and sensible "business woman" as you call yourself you would be more understanding and would not take off 4 mins after appointment time. After all, any person with a half of brain would figure out how to find a visitors parking spot or at least made an attempt. You told me never to contact you again, but here you are, being petty and responding to the review that you did not like. My advise to you is to focus on finding another job as people like you should not be dealing with sick or recovering people. You have zero compassion. It seems like you have time to respond to the reviews and write rude text messages to me but you did not have neither 5 minutes to wait nor cognitive ability to find a parking space. read more

In addition to bringing on complete relaxation, she can tell the difference between physical problems she can improve with massage and physical problems that should be reviewed by an MD. Julia is truly a massage therapist. Her massage eliminated the pain in a tendon in my arm, while for a different medical problem, she correctly told me it was time to visit an MD for evaluation.
