Madison was great for the facial and so kind and relaxing and the gal up front was super nice. I came in for a 60 minute facial though and was taken back at 11:58 and then another 5 or so minute consultation and then the facial was done at 12:40. I was expecting a 60 minute service as that's what was booked and it was super short! I understand consulting time is factored in and dressing, but the facial was basically only 30 minutes long I felt like it wasn't worth it/ wasted time in my day. Came here for a massage since I was having a rough week, but I am not motivated to return to Massage Envy in general. I've gotten better massages at other small business/family-owned massage parlors in the past, so after the first time visit discount, I don't see ME being worth it. After checking in and confirming items though a health questionnaire, I was taken to a waiting room before taken to my massage room. They didn't offer me a robe so I had my massage with my street clothes on, which felt odd. I also requested a medium-to-firm pressure, but my masseuse was way too light. I also felt like the session was cut way too short from the 60 minutes I had scheduled. Like others have said, ME is truly nothing special. If it's your first time getting massages, ME can be a comfortable choice, but if you're hoping to get your muscles feeling like a punching bag, this is not the place. read more

I've been going to this massage envy arbor walk location for about a year now and really like it. My masseuse/service provider Rachael is really awesome. She always listens to what areas of my body that I feel like I need work on, and customizes the session to emphasize treating those areas. She's also great at finding other areas of my body that need work that I didn't comment on or know about, and then works on improving them and removing those muscle knots too. She's a 5/5 A+ service provider. I also had a different session with someone named Amy (if my memory serves me correctly) and she was solid too. The only reason I'm giving this location a 4 star rating is because of how far in advance you have to schedule; right now they're booking about 5+ weeks out. read more

If you're just looking to pay for and receive a single massage, they're fine. Nothing special. Whatever you do, don't let them talk you into a subscription. They make it as difficult as possible to put your membership on hold, and as difficult as possible to actually cancel. Their tactics are the same sort that results in class-action lawsuits against unscrupulous fitness clubs, but unfortunately these guys have learned the lesson -- they make you sign away your right to sue. I've had the Massage Envy membership for years and am so excited to start using my credits again after COVID. I've been to this location twice in two months, and it's exactly what I expect from Massage Envy: clean office, nice staff, good but no frills massage. They do seem pretty busy though so book ahead to make sure you can get an appointment. I love getting 2-hr massages bc I usually have so many knots to work out but this location seems to only go up to 90 minutes. Not a deal breaker but kind of a bummer. I took off a star bc I miss some of the nice touches that my previous location in a different state provided. I don't know if it's this particular location only, if it's due to COVID, or if it's bc my last location went above and beyond, but my prior location had warm towels they used to wipe off the oil at the end of the session and the masseuse would always send the session by reminding you to drink lots of fluids and offer to bring a cup of warm tea or water when you walk out of the room. So not mandatory things but nice touches that really up the relaxation. That said, I primarily come for someone who can help work out aches and pains and this place does the job! read more

These people keep double charging my credit card. I'm not happy about this. I don't make a lot of money so this is a luxury for me after having cancer. Being taken advantage of is not right. This is the second time they have done this the last time I told them to cancel my membership and they refused to just to screw me over again. Now because of them my six year niece won't get a gift for her birthday. But what do they care they just steal money from customers. I'm so upset. I emailed them 4 times and will be calling bout 100 times until I see my money back. Having cancer at a young age is hard and this not something I can really afford. After two email requests I presume I'll have to go in personally to handle my request. I've also tried calling to no avail. Pay attention to the bad reviews! I had been a member here for years with no complaints. Sadly, my busy job kept me from going as often as I should. I racked up 37 massages! About 9 months ago I called to freeze my account and spoke with the manager. I explained that I really wanted to stop my account from being billed until I could use up the $2000 dollars of massages I currently had. The manager explained that I could cancel my account any time and still use my massages myself or give them to others at $10 a piece until I ran out. This sounded great! However, when I called in today, they explained that they are under new management who do not honor what the old management said regarding my 37 massages. They explained that I can start a new membership with a year contract or pay $20 each to use the 37 massages that I have already paid for! At no time was I notified of any change in policy! I asked to speak to the manager, but she is out of the office for the next five days. I was told that when she returns she will call, but will probably tell me the same thing. I asked for the corporate number and they explained that the corporate office would not help me because each franchise gets to decide if they will honor credits on canceled accounts. When you change a policy, it is good practice to change it moving forward and honor the previous policy for existing customers. At the very least, notify people. read more

The massage was great; I stopped in for the introductory $39 for a one hour massage. Nancy was my masseuse, she was excellent, she listened to my feedback on the problem areas and did a great job. I do highly recommend her if you plan on going to Massage Envy, it was a 4 to 5 star massage. The real downer was the front desk's over aggressive and pushy sales tactics (after the massage) in trying to coax me into buying a membership. It caught me off guard and killed my blissful experience. I can handle pushy salesmanship, but their pitch is quick, they don't tell you all the details, and it's not written down for you to read. So much information on costs / potential costs / fees / ramifications is verbally thrown at you that you'd think they'd have it all documented - - but that's not the case. If you think about it - it's easy to see why. She tries to get me to sign up for a "contract", but doesn't tell me for how long it will be (it's 1 year). And she never said that if you chose to opt out of it midway that you're penalized a fee (or lose your money) - - which I had to pull out of her. She says "you can save $150 today if you sign up right now!" - - I'm like "where did you come up w/ $150?!?". She said if you decide to come back for another massage you will have to pay the premium rate and additional fees (if you choose then to sign up for the membership). In other words, sign up right here and now before you leave, or else you'll get dinged if you wanna come back. Can I see the breakdown of what you're talking about? Nope. So as I continue to probe (my massage euphoria has already worn off thanks to the horrible pitch) I ask her why is the majority of what she's saying not documented somewhere for me to review and evaluate? "We only print out partial information" (really?). She then asks: "why are you hesitant in making this commitment?". I respond: "Well, I just had a great massage, I'd like to digest this overload of verbal information, and it's only the 2nd massage I've gotten in the last year, so I'm not a regular at this." What a total mood killer. I'm sorry, but if 75% of the critical information you're communicating (in regards to processes, memberships, rules, clauses, and contracts) isn't documented or printed for customers to evaluate beforehand, then that's a red flag to me. Some call it "aggressive sales", others say "shady sales tactics", I say it's similar to a "pressure valve" - - and that's not what I'm looking for at a place of business that's supposed to help me reduce tension and stress. I have always had issues on my left side...but telling massage therapists, chiropractors and other doctors, no relief until Stacey. Someone else referred to him as muscle whisperer. We were just there to get the introductory $39 hour massage and aren't members, so I don't know how hard it is to get an appointment regularly or if the good massage therapists actually stick around. Pros- - Was able to schedule for Saturday late on Thursday afternoon. - They have a 'couples room'. - Both of our therapists (Grace and a woman whose name started with an A) were great. They focused on our problem areas and seemed knowledgeable. - Nice atmosphere in the waiting area and in the rooms. Never ever again. The admin staff was rude, and the manager essentially told me " tough luck check your emails." I did not know my membership increased, and that I had a time limit on when to use them. I got so many mixed messages from these people about how log I can keep my credits before they expired. I ended up losing 3 1/2 credits. I feel bad for the LMTs that work there because they probably don't get the money they deserve. This place is awful, I even got a facial once and I had to pay for the supplies. Kid you not, I paid for my own facial supplies. Sidebar, the facialist sucked. Immediately upon walking in, there was a receptionist at the desk without a mask on. She didn't bother to put one on after seeing me come in with one either. Not only that, she took me to the waiting room and proceeded to stand directly over me (still unmasked) while talking and holding the iPad and watching as I answered personal questions about my health. Completely ridiculous. Regardless of whatever someone's personal feelings are about masks, the fact is we are in a pandemic and the nature of massage services is one that requires close physical contact. Masks are a no-brainer. I felt so bad for my massage therapist. She let me know that the company had lifted the mask requirement, which means she has customers in and out of her room and on her table without a mask, and there is nothing she can do about it. I have zero interest in giving my money to an establishment that has no desire to protect its clients or its staff. I walked out of my appointment and won't be going back. read more

I've had an ME membership for several years and I swear, I have never had a bad massage at any location (this location in the Arbor Walk, or the one on Lakeline, or Cedar Park, northwest San Antonio, Albuquerque). I always ask for a deep tissue massage and for someone "strong" so maybe that's the difference between my experience and others? There IS a bit of a turnover rate but to paraphrase Kristen Bell's character in Showtime's House of Lies, I would "take a foot rub from a homeless person" so I don't have to have a relationship with my therapist. My current favorites at this location are Stacey, the "muscle whisperer" (male) and Katie. I've had facials here too and in fact, it's why I use mostly Murad products now because that is what they use (my skin loves this stuff). You are locked into a membership for a year (I think) and when you decide to cancel after a year, you have to give at least 30 days' notice in writing. Your massage/facial credits build up and there was one point where I had more than 5 hours' worth saved up (I would never have imagined not going for at least one massage in a month) and if you do cancel your membership, you have to use whatever credits in your "bank" within 30 days or lose them. I think you can gift them to someone else for a $10 fee, but I'm not sure. What I really like is the fact that several of my best friends in other cities have memberships so if I'm visiting them in Albuquerque or San Antonio, we can usually get appointments for massages with little advance notice or interruption of our cocktail time. read more

I was given a gift card for my birthday for a massage. I am a massage therapist myself so I knew what I wanted done. After arriving and filling out a few forms, I go back into the room with the therapist. I had booked for a 90 min. hot stone massage but had to remind her I wanted the stones. I get ready and lay down on the table excited to get a great massage. She comes back in and right away I knew there was going to be an issues because her hands were moving so rapidly. She spent very little time working on the obvious knots in my neck and shoulders but instead spends a good 30 min just pushing on me calling it accu-pressure( my ass!). I finally tell her to stop pushing on me and saying its accu pressure because what she was dping wasn't that. I explained again How I just wanted the stones and that I WANTED TO RELAX! I was really annoyed when she giggled when she said sorry for not doing what I asked for. About 20 min into the stones on my back She told me to roll over when I told her again, to please spend more time working on my shoulders. Instead she spent 15 min on each arm instead of my back! How hard is it to go slower and more relaxing with a massage? I still have one massage left on my gift card so I will be going to someone else next time! Terrible experience! read more

Save your money. I'm out $150 bucks because these guys basically stole it. They offered a "pre paid" massage package that gave you a discount. "Great," I thought, "I'll use half of it now, and half later when I feel like I need a massage again." So I bought it, used half, then a few months went by. I didn't need a massage so I didn't use it. Then when I did, I called. I was told that MY CREDIT EXPIRED. "Whoa, what?! Nobody told me there was an expiration date!" I said. I asked to speak with a manager. S/he wasn't there, so I was told, "I'll talk to the manager tomorrow and call you back." That was a couple weeks ago. I have yet to hear from anyone and I'm still missing my money. Look: if your business depends on screwing people out of money instead of providing value and service, you don't have a business, you have a system of legalized theft. So if you go there, DO NOT let them pressure-sell you on the massage "packages" or anything pre-paid. You will very likely regret it as I now do. Instead, I recommend you talk to your doctor or chiropractor and ask for a referral to a massage therapist who takes insurance. That's what I did and I was able to get a much better, medical-grade massage for only a few bucks and zero screwball pressure-sales crap. read more

I set up my appointment online and someone called me to confirm and ask me some questions about various preferences. The receptionist staff was very friendly from the moment I walked into the door. After checking in, I was seated in the waiting room which is very relaxing!! My massuese was amazing and listened to my preferences and areas I wanted her to focus on. I've been very skeptical of Massage Envy in the past due to some not-so-great Massage Therapist experiences, but last year I was gifted a 3 month membership to Massage Envy and during that 3 months, I met my Massage Therapist, Tom. I have since re-purchased a longer membership and see Tom every month for an hour and a half. It's the day I look forward to most every month and it's the best gift I've ever given myself. I can't say enough good things about Tom - he listens well, he's a great massage therapist and he's kind. My BF took me here because he's amazing. My masseur was Paul who at first seemed disinterested but then worked some magic. I'm not much of a massage/spa services person because, well, sure they feel good at the time but then its over and you get addicted to the feeling and have to go back. Anyway, long story short I would give paul 5 stars but Massage Envy really is such a racket that its hard to give them 5 as well. The massage costs $39.00 afterall. If you want $80.00 an hour service with cucumber slices on your eyes go pay for it. For me, my experiences have been very, very nice at the one on North Mopac. I have had several different massage techs and they have all been excellent. I have no complaints and I am admittedly picky as crap. The rooms are clean and nicely appointed and if you did not know this was a franchise you would be hard pressed to tell. The counter help is young, granted, and occasionally they do not behave exactly like someone who really cares if you live or die...but...you are not there for the counter service. For a reasonably priced, thorough and complete massage, I recommend Massage Envy heartily. For those of you whose expectations run more to the upscale, toffee-nosed climes, I would council you to go somewhere else, and thereby make it easier for those of us who like this place to get appointments. I know a lot of you out there have something against chain massage places, but give this one a chance. Or at least give my girl Kysha a break. I started my membership at Massage Envy after going with a friend. I thought it was a pretty good deal, $49 a month for a 1 hour massage. It would encourage me to take time out for myself and it has. I've had 3 other therapists and now I only see Kysha, she is awesome! The plan itself is pretty basic and I agree with a few other reviews that the "scammy" part of the deal is that the $49 I pay doesn't include tip, but there is a little chart with suggestions: for a 1 hour "good" massage $5 and an "excellent" on $10. So it comes out to $59 for an hour of relaxation. read more

Overall, the massages are good and very professional. Every now and then you get someone truly exceptional and once in a blue moon you get someone fresh out of massage school it seems. Like a lot of the other reviews say, it's hard to get an appointment when you want, and twice I made an appointment only to go in and they say they reschedule it for the next day but didn't bother to call and tell me. WTF! Read the contract carefully too. Sign up for a year of automatic drafts from your account. No early cancelation, but they'd be happy to put in a request to cancel when the year is up. Pros: Highly recommend if you are wanting a good massage for a good price. I have been to Massage Envy twice, once at this location and another in San Antonio. Both masseuse's listened to my preferences and were very well trained. The lighting in the massage rooms are dim with soft music. The experience is relaxing and enjoyable for the most part. Cons: If your expecting to go to a full-out luxurious, modern spa with all the works, Massage Envy is nothing like it. Massage Envy reminds me of a tanning salon because they sell massage memberships and the rooms are as small as a tanning bed room. The five stars are for Apatua. Totally amazing - I walked in totally stressed and tight in my shoulders and neck - and by the time I left I felt like I had someone else's shoulders and neck. This place is impossible to schedule for massage. Have been a member for 4 years and consistently get the "we're booked - sorry...." story. There are a few good therapists there, but I just called on a Monday afternoon and got the response that "We're booked the entire week" for ALL therapists and letting me know it's been "really busy".....so good for them!! However, I am very tired of striking out 9 out of 10 times I call them. NOT a good way to run a business, especially one that charges you monthly and provides very little availability to get a massage.....think Frequent Flyer miles - you have them, but can never use them. I have been going here for about a year and take every chance I get to rave about this place. (How I haven't posted a review here, I don't know.) I've had several different therapists in the time I've come here, all of them great. It definitely takes a few tries to find somebody that works for your preference, but the staff at the front will always do their best to match you with the best person for your preferences. More recently I've started receiving prenatal massages. Worried at first that they would be nowhere near as relaxing (laying on your side doesn't seem ideal for massages), I was completely wrong. I've definitely fell asleep to the point of drooling the last couple times I've been in. I have no doubt that I'l continue my membership here for years to come. And now that I know I can use my FSA to pay for it, I'm even happier! read more

I absolutely love massage envy, no more days of having to searchf or a therapist. I had been to a couple of other places and sometimes the therapists were not up to par. I like deep tissue massage and when I request that, that is what I want. Because of my petite size most therapists are scared to go that deep. Here are massage envy they have several therapist that are competent in their styles. My favorite therapist is BJ, she has been my therapsist for the past three years and I never have a problem getting in to see her for my hour and a half session. She really listens to where I want to focus and she gets me feeling brand new when I leave out. But if Bj is not available there are several other therapist that are great, Nova, Grace and Marcus are ones I would recommend! read more
