Biggest scam around! They intentionally make it difficult to cancel. My wife is going to call her credit card company and do a chargeback. I am filing a claim with the attorney general in Ohio. Look at the complaints about this company and how hard it is to cancel. A class action law suit against the entire company is coming. I have cancelled auto renew memberships and it shouldn't be this hard. read more

I was a member for years and went to Strongsville location. This location (Avon) is one of the most unprofessional businesses I have gone to. They charged me 80$ for the last month of my membership, took my last credit away for no reason (before the 60 day expiration). When I tried to get a refund or the credit back, I was told to stop contacting them and they blocked my email, even though the manager (Terese) took weeks at a time to to respond or was never in the office. They are so unprofessional that it's unfortunate for their massage therapists who have to work for a business like this. The management is awful. A corporate company being so greedy to their customers is distasteful. Please seek massage therapy at an independent practice - this isn't worth the headache. I scheduled a customized facial a couple of weeks ago, thrilled for a little relaxation on a Saturday morning. I was greeted upon entering, sitting a few minutes while I waited. After time passed, the receptionist came back to let me know the esthetician didn't show up, she wasn't answering her phone. Only thing is had a massage therapist that was not a good fit - I've never had a massage therapist pinch my muscle to pull it away from my body and shake it hard? Was a super rough massage that was like no massage I've ever gotten before - felt like they were trying to adjust bones, not muscle and gave me no relief from aches or even a sense of being relaxed. Also focused on parts that are not muscular areas instead of the usual points so it hurt. Disappointed and left so sore days out that my clothes touching me hurt. read more

I travel from Columbus for 3 days, every other week, to support my husbands treatment at the Cleveland Clinic. i was thankful to have found a ME near our family, where we stay in Avon Lake. The front desk staff are always welcoming and helpful with accommodating my schedule. I was blessed to be scheduled with Sydnee for my most recent massage. I am truly grateful for her competence in assisting me with breathing while she targeted tight muscles to help me release and relax. The best massage that i have ever had. read more

My husband and I both work full-time, raise kids and run a household. Those are the things that tend to cause knots in our necks & backs. Going to Massage Envy every month (we are members) is the main thing that helps remove said stress knots. (Yoga helps, too!). We usually go on Sundays (members only day) and enjoy having our massages together, in the couples room. I don't want to tell you who my favorite masseuse is, for fear that she will get insanely popular off my recommendation and then not be available to massage me. But: I will say that there are several masseuses that I've had who are really good! They ask about specifics that you want before the massage so that the experience is customized, and then they actually listen. I definitely recommend this establishment. The only thing stopping me from giving 5 stars is that they charge you $10 to transfer a credit from one spouse to the other. There are some months when one of us can't go (Browns game, work conflict, etc) so we like to give our massage credit to the other person. But they charge $10. That seems ridiculous to me. Like having a fee just for the sake of having a fee. If they changed that policy, I'd revise my review to 5 stars, for sure! read more

I have been a member for a long time. First at Westlake, and then moved over to Avon. Gary was one of my first visits and fantastic. He was my regular person for a long timeand then Ashley. Both of them A++ and then I had Sydnee and my world turned upside down! She is what I call the old school massage. It's always good to spread the love and go to different therapists. They all have different techniques. I had the cupping enhancement and oh boy, my horrible lower back just popped and Sydnee worked them out like never before. I give Sydnee the 5 stars. So thankful. I always paid tip in cash (minimum $30 for a 60-minute session that is supposedly $60 or $75 value?) since this is better for the employees for obvious reason. One time, I did not have enough cash so I offered to pay the tip by CC. (I was a member so the fee for the session was automatically charged each month since they have a CC on file.) But their CC machine was done and it would not go through. So I said I would come back in a couple of days with the cash tip since I lived nearby. And I did, and gave the person the $30 tip in cash, and wanted to book my next monthly massage. But guess what - the receptionist demanded that I put down another CC on file to cover future gratuities in case this recurs, and otherwise could not "hold a spot" for me. I was furious. First of all, gratuity is optional, not mandatory. Secondly, I always tipped handsomely and I came back voluntarily just to give the tip that they could not accept because their CC machine was down. They should be thanking me and appreciating me. But instead, look at what they did. Such ingrate. I guess that's why they say no good deed goes unpunished. And guess what - I stormed out, and never went back, and never will. I even called my credit card company to cancel the CC they did have on file, just so I donot have to deal with them. I haven't had many massages and this was a gift, so this will be a quick review. I did happen to catch a glimpse of the prices and to me they were very high. I don't have anything to compare it to but $80 for a full body seems outrageous to me. The woman I had was fantastic. She listened to what I wanted and used the exact pressure I was looking for. I hate small talk so the fact that she just let me listen to the music and close my eyes was awesome. I was so refreshed after. I went with a big party and the other reviews were not nearly as good. Everyone had a different masseur and I was hearing too soft, too hard, talked too much, didn't concentrate on the areas they asked for, etc etc. If I was only reviewing Tamika, I would give her 5 stars. Since this is an establishment, I have to be fair. The other masseurs were mediocre and I myself wouldn't pay that much for a massage, even from Tamika. read more

Despite having previous issues with gift cards bought for others at this location, and against my better judgement, I scheduled my appointment online for the Avon location. When I showed up 20 minutes early for my scheduled appointment, they begin to tell me I never scheduled an appointment, that I was at the wrong location, and then the assistant manager says "you can't schedule an appointment online." After looking into THEIR OWN website, they say "oh yeah, you can schedule online. Well that's why I always say to call in, because we don't have anything to do with the online scheduling." Despite having the online confirmation, my appointment was taken by someone else and they offered no rectification or attempt to solve the situation. Support a local business rather than this unprofessional, unhelpful chain. read more

Couldn't book when I first called because they had a new system then when I went in for my 90 minute massage, 15 minutes early, I sat in waiting room until 5 minutes after my appoint was to start and had to go get them to remind them I was waiting. Started massage 10 minutes late due to their own scheduling issues and then my masseuse ended promptly after 77 minutes. He talked the entire time and had terrible breath. I'll never set foot in this place again. Oh and they couldn't check me out because,surprise, there were issues with the system and they said they'd call me when they charged my card which they didn't. read more

I am formerly from the east side and was concerned I would not be able to find a good masseuse on the west side. I experience with Massage Envy has far surpassed my hopes. My chiropractor has suggested I get a monthly massage to help relax the muscles in my back and neck. Every masseuse I've had work on me has been wonderful. I request deep tissue massage and every one of them has been able to identify the areas that need the most work. I have a membership with Massage Envy and go twice a month. I'd love to go every week. I schedule ahead a few months so that I am assured of getting in. Every time I go I am greeted with a friendly hello and absolutely love my masseuse! I am hooked on Massage Envy! read more

Watch your financial account! Most of the therapists are just fine- My problem is that when I closed my membership account I realized I had been charged 160 dollars in cancellation fees! I was told explicitly about 1 of them (a legitimate cancel), the rest were same day calls to reschedule my appointments- A few times when I was very ill. I was not told at those times I would be getting charged for half the session. I understand it may be in "the fine print" but it's just not good business to be so flippant with charging and not communicating adequately. Very disappointing, glad I cancelled my membership and sent them a message to remove my banking information from their database. I just don't trust them. I want to warn others to be careful giving out their payment information to this branch. read more

So I have a gift card to Massage Envy, and my skin is in desperate need of a facial. I'm getting married in a couple months and I need to start my beauty routine. So I book an appointment, no problem. They call me a day before and say the esthetician is going to be out can I reschedule. Of course things happen, I understand, I've worked at a spa for 3 years, so I rescheduled for the next week. This time the day of the appointment I get a call, same thing, no esthetician, can you reschedule, at this point I'm a little annoyed I've been waiting two weeks for an appointment for a simple 60 min facial. They offer me an additional 30 minutes complimentary, so against my better judgement I scheduled a third time for my facial for the next week. Today I wake up, morning of my facial, guess who called to ask if I can reschedule. Four different appointment times, across four weeks and somehow Massage Envy cannot uphold a simple standard as a professional organization in the Spa industry. Very unreliable. Update: My fourth scheduled appointment was confirmed and I was able to get a facial from Lorraine. She. Was. Fantastic. She made up for the crazy bad experience of booking the appointment. She was knowledgeable, easy to talk to, friendly, and just a sweet person. She helped me pick out product for my face, but kept in mind that I was on a budget. Despite having difficulties initially, I will be returning for more facials, just for Lorraine. read more
