As you walk in, you are transported. It's like taking a mini vacation. Santell is absolutely AMAZING. I did the 90 minute Breathe Deep massage and I can't say enough positive things about him and the entire experience. From the moment you walk in, his positive, calming energy prepares you for the amazing experience you are about to have. He is so welcoming and just an all-around genuinely good person. He makes sure you are comfortable beforehand: he lets you select an essential oil and even adjusts the temperature of the room if need be. During the massage, he is SO in tune with your body. This is no cookie-cutter massage. He pays close attention to the areas you indicate and he works to find the EXACT location of the pain. I decided to go check this place out after hearing my buddy Darren R. rave about how amazing the massages are, and boy was he right! They had a special for Thanksgiving where I got a 90 minute full body massage for the price for a 60 minute massage. The owner, Wendy, was able to quickly schedule me in for a Saturday afternoon appointment. You can call, email, or schedule on their great website. Darren recommended that I opt for the hot stones and hot bamboo massage option, so I made sure that Wendy knew ahead of time, so she could have it ready for me. The place was very tranquil and relaxing. You remove your shoes in the little hallway prior to entering the office to fill out the paperwork. The massage rooms are very inviting...dimly lit with relaxing music playing. (you have your preference of music types that you note on the paperwork) Wendy makes you feel very comfortable and at ease. If you have certain parts of your body that are causing you pain or soreness, then you can let her know and she or any of her massage therapists will be sure to focus more on that area. I had a lot of knots in my back, more so in my left lat than that my right, which was odd to me. My calves were very tight as well because of my plantar fasciitis and the same with the right side of my jaw from my TMJ. (yeah, my body is a mess!) She put extra effort into those areas and I felt so good coming out of the massage session! I highly recommend the hot bamboo treatment. It really helps to roll out the knots. I think I liked the bamboo more than the rocks, but both felt great! Wendy gave me some good advice about stretching before and after my workouts, and using a foam roller (which I already had) to push out the knots in my muscle fascia. She also provided suggestions about treating my plantar fasciitis. She's very knowledgeable! Prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere is great inside! I'll definitely be back! And imagine my surprise upon finding a familiar face when I walked in :) I have been in yoga classes and events with Bryan in other locations, but did not know he was also a massage therapist, and at Breathe! I came in for a Thai Massage & Sound Therapy after 2 consecutive long bicycle tours, so it was a definite need. What I really loved about the experience was not only Bryan's massage (which was ON POINT for what I needed attention to), but that the entire experience was so personalized. Based on the great massage reviews here on Yelp, I purchased two Groupons on a recent offer - one for "acupressure" and one for "reflexology." I ran into a little snag when I tried to book because - apparently - individuals should only be able to purchase one package or the other. There was no notice on Groupon to this effect and it allowed me to purchase each in my own name. I ended up speaking with Stephanie at Breathe and she was very accommodating and agreed that others had similar issues. Hopefully this will get sorted with Groupon. So I booked both at that time. I discovered at my first appointment that both sessions were "energy work" sessions and not a form of massage. I cancelled both and requested refunds from Groupon as this was not clearly identified in the marketing language. I have never left a yelp review in my life. This was the most wonderful, healing, powerful massage ever. It's not in some fancy spa, it's inside an old office building. What set this apart was my masseuse- Wendy was a freaking healer. It was the first time I felt like my masseuse was personally interested in healing me, body and spirit. I did the "do whatcha gotta do" massage and she incorporated massage with energy work and I walked away feeling like I just left my therapists office. My only regret is not finding this place sooner. Wendy used heated bamboo to get into my muscle tissues and break it up. I have never had a professional massage until today. I was a little nervous because it was my first time but after my visit I can easily tell others to relax, let go and just Breathe! After my 90 minute session my back felt like it just got a breath of fresh air. I had a work related back injury a few years ago and went through physical therapy. Physical therapy helped a little but not much. After therapy I had a few chiropractic sessions which helped way more than therapy. A couple weeks ago my buddy's fiance, who is an amazing chiropractor, adjusted me and felt a hard knot in my lower back. She recommended I schedule a massage. I found a few good deals on groupon but wasn't happy with the reviews I read and with a bad back I wanted to put my back in good hands. After some research I found "Breathe" on yelp and the reviews were outstanding with 5 stars across the board. Sure it was a little more than other places but you get what you pay for sometimes. The facility was very clean and welcoming. The memory foam massage table was ridiculously comfortable. From the atmosphere, decor and massage table I got the sense that "Breathe" is a business that puts money back into their work and they aren't just scraping by with just enough to get the job done as I imagine some places might do. Wendy, the founder and business owner herself, was my massage therapist. She was very friendly but most importantly she was comforting. I never felt out of place or uncomfortable at any point during my visit and I had no idea how tense and tight my muscles were until after my session. I walked out of there feeling refreshed and noticed my back feels so nice and loose now. Wendy is very knowledgeable in her field as she explains her practice with an explanation as to what she is doing and why she is doing it. Online I reviewed the types of massages and clearing that I knew I needed but wasn't sure which combo to choose. Wendy recommended Lomi Lomi with Singing Bowl Therapy. Very nice! Lomi uses very fluid movements and Santell applied heavier pressure to release tight muscles where needed. This was my first experience with singing bowls. Santell used the bowls throughout the session. At one point placed couple of different bowls on my solar plexus, I found it very relaxing energy work. He coached me re stretching every day which I am in need of and discussed finding a good yoga studio as I live in California. If I were a local, Santell would be seeing me on a regular basis. I initially chose Breathe because of a Groupon with a great rate. I had the Lomi Lomi massage and tuning forks therapy with Santell. He used fluid movements and just the right pressure. My tight neck muscles must have released, as I have more range of motion than I've had for awhile. Very relaxing massage, beautiful, peaceful, uplifted facility. My last massage studio did not even have an initial questionnaire which I did not like. But Breathe has you fill out a detailed form to know exactly what your health and condition are. Santell took time to talk beforehand, asking if I had questions, and my preference for massage scent, etc. I could tell he knew his stuff, was experienced and expert in his knowledge and skill. This place was amazing! Very friendly staff and great atmosphere. My husband and I went for a couples massage and they offered us many options for what we would like. I am pregnant and Wendy did my prenatal massage which was great and made me feel super relaxed. My husband also really enjoyed his massage; we both did a foot soak before the massage and then had the sweet and salty snack option afterward. The robes they give you to wear were very soft and the blankets were also very comfortable. This is by far the best massage place I have ever been to and plan to return.
