I received a three month membership for Christmas 2014 but only had a chance to use it the other day. This location is very clean and comfortable. The front desk staff was also very kind and helpful and explained everything to me. My massage therapist was Megan and she did a wonderful job. The massage was good. After being relaxed, I had to deal with their high pressure sales techniques. I wasn't expecting it to be like a used car lot or a time share. So if I go back again, I would be charged $100. $60 for an hour massage is only for the first time. However there's a monthly plan for $70 which is one time a month but you could come again for $ and if you don't come at all it's still ok, ya da ya da ya da. I really enjoyed my massage w Daniel, he was so chill and massaged out all my tight kinks. He did a great job on my back, I chose the swedish massage w/ aromatherapy. If you want a relaxing massage ask for Daniel. I was very pleased being an Esthetician and understanding his knowledge of the body and its trigger points. His muscle relaxing massaging was well needed. The staff at the front desk took the time to go over my paperwork and I felt very comfortable. It was a great experience. I'm extremely grateful that I found massage therapist Louis at the Bayside location recently. As a Chronic Pain sufferer for 21 years, massage has been one of the most beneficial treatments and I've seen many many therapists across the country over the years. Without a doubt, Louis is the most skilled and exceptional therapist ever who has managed to pretty much put me out of neck pain completely after each session. My only regret is not having found him earlier. I give him the highest level of recommendation for anyone looking to have a long lasting level of relief. His natural skills coupled with superb techniques when it comes to massage truly set him apart from anyone I've ever seen. The rest of the staff is super friendly and courteous and the office ambiance is very cleaned and relaxed and I will truly miss them when I relocate out of the state soon. read more

The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is for the front desk service. I have gone to this location twice and have left in more pain than when I entered. The first time I went, I was in desperate need for a massage because I had done some physical activity that left me very sore. The massage hurt like hell, but I chalked it up to the physical activity that brought me there. The masseuse, Louis, told me that I needed to come back in 2-3 weeks or the pain would return. I didn't think anything of it because my back was in so much pain. I had my follow up today, and it hurt so badly that I almost cried. He also only massaged one arm and hand, which was the only part that actually felt relaxing. At the end, he told me to make a follow up appoint ment for two weeks from now. The answer is HELL NO. I'm lying here in pain because of the massage that he gave me. I feel like he did that so I would come back. This was not my first massage, and it wasn't my first time going to a Massage Envy. I have never experienced pain during or after receiving a massage. This location is not good, and I won't be returning. read more

Just beware an hour is not an hour and 90 minutes is not 90 minutes..they shorten each session by 10 or 15 minutes.

Decided to get a massage for the first time in a while, and chose Massage Envy because I had good experiences at other locations. I signed up for a hour massage, which would good - I would rank the massage itself at 4 stars or higher. When I went to pay at the front desk, the associate gave me a pamphlet with some notes from the massage therapist suggesting I do 90 minute massages, monthly - this could be for legitimate concern of my muscle and join health, or could have been an upselling tactic. While I was reading the pamphlet, the associate kept trying to push me to sign up for a membership. The massage was great, but I don't know if I'll be back. read more

Massage Envy Bayside is a brand new hidden gem in a sea of subpar, Manhattan wannabe spas on Bell Blvd. The staff is superb - Lauren and her crew are down to earth - no snooty attitudes here - and immediately made me feel at home and at ease while maintaining a high level of professionalism. After completing the initial paperwork, and having a glass of lemon water, I was whisked away to a well appointed, spacious room where I received a sublime, medium pressure massage and a heavenly facial - I didn't have to switch rooms...yay. The warmed massage table is covered with sherpa and was a welcome respite from the cold. After my massage and facial, I felt as loose as a noodle and ready to start the new year. Overall a fantastic experience - I cannot say enough about this place. I am looking forward to coming back. read more

I've had over 8 massages in this location and from 5 therapists and I must say WOW! I absolutely don't like it, I loveeeeeeeeee it! The front desk staff are very welcoming, warm, and friendly. The massage therapists I've had were Mui, Megan, Joey, Dai, and Dominique and they are all licensed and skilled/experienced. For your first visit you get an introductory member rate and get to customize your massage with one of the staff members. I mean where else can you actually go to customize your massage? Normally in other spas you just pick a massage from a simple list. I highly recommend this place and suggest telling the sales associate over the phone when booking the appt what your main concerns are...relaxation, problem area and etc, because they will actually schedule you with a therapist who will best fit your needs. read more

Lauren the owner of this franchise "Massage Envy" is one of the rudest people I have had to ever deal with. She has zero business, people and social skills. Lauren is extremely unprofessional to say the least. It's amazing how this place is not out of business. I am someone who loves my massages and have had massages from many different spas. I value great customer service, friendliness and being treated special when at a spa. After the disgusting treatment I have received from this location, I will be sure to let my family and friends know to cancel their memberships here and take their business elsewhere. So not worth being treated so rudely. Lauren is unfriendly and grossly rude to her customers. She certainly should not be in the service industry. When customers pay a monthly service membership to come to your spa...the owner of all people should make it as pleasant, stress free and comfortable for their customers as much as possible and not be confrontational and rude! They said they still need my credit card in their file . I had a wonderful experience at Massage Envy Bayside. The location was away from the bar area so I had not problem finding a parking spot. I was greated and checked in by the friendly front desk staff, who called me the day before to confirm my appointment. After I was checked in, I was brought into the quiet room where I was offered lemon water. My therapist was superb and professional. My entire experience, check-in/out, massage & price was great. First a comment @Simone - there is nothing shady about the credit card request policy. If you cancel at the last minute or fail to show up they lose business. Someone else could of had that slot so they and their worker would lose money. That is unfair to the business. Most businesses do this, I guess you just don't have any experience using these places. In any case this place is lovely. It is clean and comfortable. The staff is very easy and nice to deal with. I too had a gift card. I had no problem getting an appointment. They did tell me after my facial about the membership but when I said I was not interested they said fine, no pressure at all. The facial with Cecelia was wonderful! I've been going to this location for over 2 years now. The therapists are very professional and great at what they do. Booking appointments, however, is very difficult and the Sunday front desk staff needs to work on their customer service skills. I've always made my appts on Wednesdays at 5:30pm, but my service history on their computer system says that my appts. were always at 7pm. I tried just now to book the usual Wed, 5:30pm appt, but was denied cause it's ALWAYS BEEN the therapists' break time. I've been coming regularly for over 2 yrs. now and always came at 5:30pm, and I have the receipts to prove it. Maybe there is a glitch in their computer system? The least the Sunday staff could have done, if they had any form of customer service skills, was give a regular and loyal customer like myself the benefit of the doubt, and looked into their hard copy files or spoke to my therapist further to see if I did in fact have been coming at 5:30pm, instead of insisting that I've been coming at 7pm all along. Even the Sunday manager I spoke to was abrupt and unprofessional. She could have said that she'll look into it further, speak to my therapist, and get back to me, instead of insisting that I've been making 7pm appts all this time. It's basically implied that I've been lying about my appt times. I am really considering of withdrawing my membership and telling my girlfriends to do the same as well. I have been a member of massage envy for about a year now and it has to be one of the worst decisions I have ever made. There are never appointments available, and the front desk staff is incompetent. I recently booked an appointment for a Thursday at 9:30. I received a call on a Tuesday at 9:30 wanting to know where I was. I was surprised, that they expected me. I was charged for 1/2 an appointment because they had left me a message the day before to confirm that I had a Tuesday appointment. So, I was charged a 1/2 appointment for not showing up to an appointment that I didn't know I had. I was told this was per the owner. Tried to get the appointment for the Thursday at 9:30 that I thought I had, but was told sorry we are busy, it's the holiday and we have a lot a gift certificate appointments. This tells me that they don't value their members. Can't wait to cancel!! I was charged $61 cash and a massage was deducted from my account, so not sure how this is considered to be 1/2 a normal cancellation charge (massages only cost $49 for members). I don't consider this to be accommodating. Usually when an error is made, the business takes responsibility but not in this case. I don't have a history of not showing up for appointments or of cancelling, so I think this was a poor way to handle the situation. I've since tried Massage Envy in Port Washington and that will now be my studio of choice. read more

I've been a member of Massage envy for a few years now and received wonderful massages. The masseurs I've tried have been wonderful particularly Megan. That being said I've been a loyal customer, showed up for appointments on time, dutifully tipped generously and paid their ridiculous transfer fees for transferring services to friends without complaint for years. I booked a massage today because my back is hurting badly. I wanted one this week but they told me they had one open today so I took it. They told me I had an hour's grace period to cancel. I rethought the wisdom of the massage and decided to let my orthopedist decide on Wednesday. I took the grace period to mean I could cancel up to an hour before the service and they meant I had an hour from the time I booked it. They would not bend at all and now they are charging me for half a service. I can't believe how inflexible they are. They probably would not have booked that hour had I not called today and even so I have been a faithful customer for years. Doesn't that count at all? Again I have nothing against the masseurs but I do take issue with how the business is run. I know many people take advantage but take a look at a persons record before you impose these harsh rules. My girlfriend received a gift card for her birthday from her sister for 1 hour and a half of massage at this company. As the gift card described, the service was already paid in full. We printed the gift card online with the barcode and we went to this place in Bayside, NY called Massage Envy Spa. My girlfriend had previously called them on the phone explaining that she had a gift card from her sister for her birthday and wanted to get an appointment, but they said they needed her credit card information. Being extra careful as everyone should be today, she decided not to give the credit card information, also wondering why they needed the credit card since the services where already paid in full. Instead, she decided to print the gift card and go to the actual business facility. When we got there, they once again asked for her credit card information. At that point we asked "why do you need her credit card information, since we have the gift card with bar code right here and this has already been paid in full?" They responded that they needed the credit card on file in order to make the appointment and couldn't scan the gift card print out. This is all the explanation they gave us. It's only because we insisted arguing and asking why they couldn't use the information from the card that already paid the service, that they finally explained to us that they needed her credit card in case she cancelled. You have 24 hour from the appointment you make to cancel or reschedule and if you cancel, your card will be charged 50% of the service you were going to get (even though the services where already paid in full with the gift card from her sister). So we said "what if she misses the train or there's some major delay, since she works in lower Manhattan, and she can't make it and she can't cancel 24hr prior to the appointment? what is it going to happen then?" In this case, if you don't cancel within 24 hours from the appointment, they would charge you for the full amount of the service you scheduled on that card. At this point I said "so basically, if I don't cancel within 24 hours you're going to charge me $120 for the service scheduled, plus her sister has already paid $120 for the gift card. It's like paying $240 and still not getting any services whatsoever". The manager (Rachel) seemed confused, and smiling she responded: "No, in this case, you can come with the gift card that you printed and then we will cancel the charge on your card with it." In other words, her sister would've paid $120 for nothing. To me, this looks just like a fly-by-night operation. People should be informed of the way these people operate, because it is clear to me that is very shady to say the least. I'm going to look further into this and make sure other people hear our experience. I work for City University of New York, I have about 2,000 people in my mailing list and I will certainly spread the word. By the way, before leaving the facility I asked: "can her sister be refunded for the gift card, since we are not going to use it?" Rachel, the manager, responded: "sorry... they don't do refunds on gift cards..." Lauren then contacted me via email defending her manager and basically repeating the same things. She also claims that the credit card information is safe and encrypted in their system and if you want you can ask them to delete the information afterwords. This is not a serious business and I will investigate on whether it is legal to request a no-show fee even if you cancel (keep in mind, if you cancel 3 days prior to the appointment, they still will charge you 50% of the service). What if the therapist is late or cancels the appointment (which seems to have happened reading other reviews) are they going to credit 50% of the service to the client? read more
