I signed up at this location for a monthly membership and the receptionist Princess was amazing inside and out. If she was there every day maybe it would've changed how today ended. The therapist Dorethia? I think her name was - for hot stone massage was awful. And a part of me feels bad because she's an older lady. But then I remembered how much I paid for the massage and it aggravated me all over again. First - I walk into the appointment and she said I needed to pay attention when I schedule massages because I didn't give her any time to clean her rooms (I then explained that through the app it doesn't show us their schedules - we choose the day we want and the type of the massage and it gives us a list of techs available in the city) - she didn't care to hear this. Secondly she started the massage - with all the lights on full blast. And I got hot stones but never knew they were going to be that hot. She said it was wayyyyy too hot then took ten minutes out of my massage to go back and forth to get cold water (leaving my door open each time). I thought the hot stones were an add on- to the massage. Little did I know you don't get a massage at all........ no hands on time. Whatsoever. She just took the stones and rubbed them on my skin and that's it. Lastly she didn't greet me after the massage with water or anything then when I went to check out- the receptionist could care less about how my massage went and proceeded to ask how much of a tip I was leaving. So. Long Story Short. I drive past Gahanna location and now I'll drive past bethel to go to Dublin. Today made me want to cancel my membership. And of course no manager at the bethel location. No one that said "sorry you had a rough time let me talk to you or explain things or give you a discount" nothing. read more

I was on day 3 of a killer migraine. I called all over Columbus looking for somewhere to get into right away, and Massage Envy got me in later the same day. When I arrived, Courtney greeted me, went over the policies and procedures and was extremely friendly. My masseuse was Deb, and she was PHENOMENAL! As a migraine sufferer, I can take really deep tissue pressure. Most people don't believe me and start off too soft. Deb dug right in and found knots in places I didn't know knots could exist. Deb was friendly, professional, and most importantly, a damn good masseuse. 90 minutes later, every knot in my body had been worked, I went home and went straight to bed and slept soundly for 10 hours, waking with no headache. At check out, they let me know about their membership plan, but in no way did they pressure me to sign up. However, I did not have to think twice before signing up. I did not catch the name of the woman who checked me out, but she was also very kind, professional, and informative. All around A+ facility and service. read more

I give a one rate only because I had to put something. I have not found a good therapist for years I have traveled from location to location only to be disappointed and also have my sessions canceled day of. I would be charged if I canceled late. Also, because I've had several cancellations by the therapist I have credits unused and the office is unwilling to refund me because I quit the membership. I would not have credits if they would keep me on the schedule and not cancel. This is not a good office because they promise one thing and deliver nothing as promised. I love how easy it is for me to book a massage for my husband as a secret present for "special occasions." Plus when I get there they are super friendly and courteous to both of us. My first time booking for my husband was 2 years ago as a Valentine's Day gift and the guy had never had a massage before in his life. He came out of the room feeling like a million bucks! I mean the women must have had the magic touch because he could not stop talking about his experience there from then on! This experience was so pleasant he insisted afterwards he needed a massage every time his muscles was experiencing some sort of pain. This didn't occur of course but we did get one in during our honeymoon and he was in heaven, let me tell you. So my one year anniversary is coming up and I booked him another massage here but I'm a bit nervous since he expressed he only prefers women to do the massage's and I could only get a guy to do his massage at that hour. Therefore, I'm hoping he still enjoys his experience from this massage therapist. Someday, I will book a massage for myself and see what the whole experience is like and then review this place again. For now, I want to see how my husband takes this massage this weekend. I hope it's a peasant experience since I know he needs it badly from all the pain he's experiencing right now. About a year and a half ago I decided to sign up for a membership based off of what my friend was telling me: - $55 a month (usually $60, but $55 with referral) - 1 credit = 50 min massage or 50 min facial - can go to any Massage Envy location - credits roll over When I first signed up, I just did it over the phone. Mistake #1 right here. $55/month turned into $60/month with taxes. My friend signed up in Covington, KY and was not taxed on hers at all, so I didn't feel like the referral bonus really counted. When I called to inquire about it, I was told I had to get a doctor's note to nullify the taxes. So if you still decide to sign up after this review--call a place in Kentucky. They will do it over the phone, tax free. I saw another review that said to go a couple times to find a masseuse you like--this is a waste of time and money. If the service isn't consistent, why are you spending money on it hoping for luck of the draw?! Luckily, my first experience with Lloyd was great so I knew one person I liked, but that's where the good service halted--at Lloyd. I had another male masseuse that didn't use lotion which was dragging my skin (Bethel location), and another female masseuse (Grandview location) who had her gut pressed against my head constantly throughout the massage. She also hadn't eaten so I was listening to her stomach gurgle the whole time. Recently I have been trying to make an attempt here and there to discontinue my membership. The Bethel location is especially hard to get in contact with in general, whether you are trying to schedule an appointment or cancel your membership. I will call in the dead middle of the day and be sent to voicemail. I'll try to call closer to closing time when it's slower and still be sent to voicemail. I will try to schedule appointments online--which isn't even possible. Online you are promoted to fill out a form with vague time windows that work for you and wait for a call back. Not exaggerating--I have never received a call back this way. Additionally, since it is a franchise, masseuses have very limited schedules and work at different locations throughout the week so it is hard to consistently see a masseuse you like. I've had the microdermabrasion (microderminfusion?) facial a couple times. I pretty much only resort to it if my skin is unbearable and I have credits. It's alright and will make your skin supple but you could get the same if not better results from buying a Microneedle Derma roller (~$20 on Amazon) and pairing it with a serum yourself. Not really worth the money. Despite my efforts to cancel my membership before the first, I was told that it wasn't allowed because it had to be in writing. After calling Bethel a couple times with no answer, I called Grandview and tried to cancel. Grandview referred me back to my home store and told me I had to cancel with them. So I had to go out of my way and go to the Bethel location in person. Went in and no one was at the front desk. Peeked in the side office and no one was there either. Wandered around in the back hallway three times to see if I could detect the sound of any living beings or if the sound of the swinging door would prompt anyone to come to the front. Eventually someone came out and told me there was no way for me to be refunded for February. I swear these people make themselves inaccessible just to prolong your membership. There was another time I came into the Bethel location for a scheduled appointment and no one was at the desk, which ate into my massage time. Additionally, the "roll over" credits stop once you discontinue your membership and you have 60 days to utilize all the unused credits. Massage Envy is a franchise and should be treated as such. At $60 a massage, I shouldn't be *hoping* I get a good masseuse that day. After speaking to my friends who are masseuses and friends who get massages themselves, they pay $60-$70 for their one hour massages at specialists. Had I known this, I would've gladly gone to their masseuses, paid the extra $10 knowing I'd be satisfied, and not been locked into a contract. I'm not really bent up about another $60 lost, I just simply hate spending time here and it's not relaxing at all. read more

This is the best location I have been to thus far. Friendly staff, efficient and didn't try to push any add -on or extra services. This location has a separate waiting room which I hadn't experienced before. Bathrooms were clean as was the waiting room. I had a 90 minute prenatal massage with Laquanta and I wish she lived in Scottsdale! She makes you immediately feel calm and at ease just with her personality. The massage was relaxing with the right amount of pressure. She also used therapy balls on my glutes which felt incredible as I now have to sleep on my side. She was absolutely fantastic, and gave a great scalp and face massage which often gets overlooked. read more

I've been going to this Massage Envy for almost a year. This rating is for Tiffani specifically. The first 3 masseuses I had were so-so, but after I got Tiffani there was no need to try anyone else! Regarding what the earlier poster said about the masseuse being "called in" for each appointment is news to me. Tiffani (as well as others) work 5-6 days a week, for shifts lasting several hours. (Like most people working in America.) I went to Massage Envy to get relief from my back and neck pain. I never thought it would actually improve or go away altogether. I was in mild pain every single day of my life (from stress, bad posture and having a desk job.) I started out going once a week because I had such discomfort. It was Tiffani who told me I could scale down to once every two weeks, then three weeks, and now I go once a month. Tiffani is a GREAT deep-tissue person. What she has done with my upper back and neck in the past 10 months is unbelievable. My recommendation is to plan on going a few times to find the right masseuse for you. And if it's deep-tissue you're after, Tiffani's the best! read more

This place is a little hit or miss. The masseuse is paid per diem and actually called in for your appointment so the office staff is not very knowledgeable on the expertise of their staff and often makes mistakes on matching you up with the masseuse that will suit your needs. I went for a one time $39 appointment and didn't see the point on signing on for any of the package deals since I wasn't that jazzed by the quality of my massage and didn't feel like wasting the time or money on finding the right masseuse from their list. This place is good for a decent all around relaxing treat but not your best bet if you are looking for something specific and expect the service to deliver. read more

I got scheduled with the new girl (I figured she was new because she got lost taking me back to the room), and with all the empty rooms they stuck in the room that shared a wall next to the hammering and drilling! Terrible! They also call you 5 times after the appointment to harass you about joining their membership. Very upset about the construction noise while you are trying to get a massage. After calling every location near our house on Sunday and now Monday there have been zero openings both days. The receptionist asked for my name and said she had booked the appointment and would see us on Sunday at 4. I called another massage envy just to make sure we hadn't booked elsewhere and asked what do they usually ask for when they book an appointment. She said they usually ask for name, email, credit card and how did they hear about us. Looking back on it, none of those things were asked of us at this location. The employees there are trained to violate health codes through "draping protocols" designed to stop customers from touching the blankets. EVERY customer touches the blankets at some point and the blankets are only washed once per week. The fleece pads that are under the sheets and facerest covers are NEVER washed, nor are the massage tables themselves ever sanitized. You might get a good massage/facial there, but you also might catch something from the blankets and tables. read more

I received a gift of a massage. I usually get massages at my Chiropractor's office and I have never gone to a place like this. I was expecting something a little more calming and relaxing. When I walked in the door, I was greeted quickly and in a friendly manner. I spent a good deal of time filling out all the paperwork, then waited for quite a while in the outer waiting area. I was approach by someone, I do not know her position, who chose to talk to me about all my confidential information in the waiting room where 3 other customers were sitting. She proceeded to talk about my aches and pains, my massage preferences, the date and reason for a recent surgery as well as stating very clearly my email and phone. Well, there went calming and relaxing, I was now more tense then when I walked through the door. If she was going to "interview" me, then why did I waste my time filling out this information in the first place. After this, she showed me around the place, then asked me to sit in an inner waiting area. Other than the low lighting, it was exactly like the area out front. The massage itself was great! The therapist was kind and made me feel comfortable right away. After the massage, I walked out of the building very fast without looking back, I didn't want to get caught up in one of those high pressure sales pitches that I overheard earlier. If I could have walked in, sat quietly until my therapist was ready and forwent all the other crap, I would have had a more enjoyable experience. I don't think I will go back. read more

I've been going to Massage Envy for about a year or so and I have had great luck with my massages. I recently signed up for their package program and I'm actually saving a ton of money in doing so. Also, I have found a masseuse, I hate that word for some reason, that I'm really happy with. I've seen Allen the last couple times and he's amazing. Steady pressure and he's able to work out the knots in my shoulders in no time. Plus, he sends me home with exercises to maintain in between visits. You should check him out sometime. I had such an amazing massage and experience that I signed up for a membership which is not a bad deal! The reason this did not get a 5-star is because I've had a facial there also and I specified that I wanted to do extractions but the esthetician just did a mask and said that it would remove all the blackheads--it didn't really work! This business is awful! I scheduled two appointments two weeks ago, one for me and one for my husband. They called the VERY next day to cancel my husbands appointment just saying they couldn't keep it and didn't give us any other reasoning. They didn't mention having an issue with my appointment at all. Mind you, we gave them both of our phone numbers when scheduling the appointments at the same time. I showed up on time for my appointment to be told they cancelled it and "tried to contact me two times" in the two weeks and they must have a wrong phone number for me. I left so upset because I had been looking forward to this massage for weeks and called the manager letting them know how upset I was. Only to be HUNG UP ON by the manager Sierra. This business clearly doesn't value their long time customers and was not willing to do ANYTHING to make it up. I will NEVER recommend this business to anyone!!! I've been going to Massage envy for about a year. The massages themselves are fine, but they are way too pushy and try to upsell all the time. I guess they are in it for the money, but I think they could be a little more user friendly. Once you sign up for a year membership there is no getting out of it even for a fee, unless you can prove you are moving to an area where they aren't. My husband and I are in the process of adopting a baby. I completely forgot an appointment because we had just found out that our baby was on the way. Because I didn't call to cancel the appointment they said they could only refund me 50%, except I already paid 100% because I'm a member. So the only way I could technically get my refund would be by paying additional money to schedule another massage. Craziness! I will be canceling my membership as soon as possible (which you have to do in writing, in person, 30 days in advance). There have been lawsuits against gyms for similar membership loopholes. read more

FIRST, I GIVE FIVE stars for Richard's relaxing light touch massage which was excellent! The facility was also a clean and relaxing environment. HOWEVER, I GIVE 2 STARS TO THE MANAGEMENT FOR THE FOLLOWING REASON: The in your face signs suggesting an amount to tip and informing the clientele that the tip should be based on the non member price is an unnecessary, unprofessional sign that I found to be offensive. The lame excuse posted on the sign states that members ask what to tip so that is the stated reason for the sign. The sign is a thinly veiled attempt to pressure clients to tip at a certain level irrespective of the service and makes me suspicious that it is also to make up for low pay for their therapists. I have been to many Massage Envy facilities all over the country and this is the only one with these offensive signs posted. I tip based on service and the price I pay for services and not based on a sign telling me what to tip and how to calculate tip. I will look for another Massage Envy that does not post these signs and regret not returning to Richard who I generously tipped for an excellent massage experience. read more

sent my husband here for a deep tissue massage because he has had cronic back pain. Signed up online first then confirmed appointment over the phone, details on asking for a male therapist were specific. My husband told me later they switched him from david to bev and he did not get the releif from his muscle pain he was after. was hard to get him to go for this type of therapy as he feels its awkward so to have them switch without asking was very rude. when I called them afterwards they blamed my husband for not complaining and told me I had not specified male. My forms were clearly read back to me over the phone. Terrible customer service will not return. My husband still tipped the required $15.00 though. read more
