She immediately told me while on the table that she didn't do deep massages, so what I got was a Swedish massage with a back rub. I also paid extra for hot and cold therapy, which I did not receive. Making plans to come into town for a graduation ceremony and the ladies in our group decided we wanted to get massages. A couple of weeks ahead, I called all over the area looking for a spa that could accommodate several appointment times near each other. Massage Envy could accommodate us so yea. If you haven't been to Massage Envy, the introductory price is lower than follow up services. Even if the service is other than a massage. You get a discount 'trial' which is nice. If you get monthly massages, they have a membership that costs the same as the introductory price. We arrived fifteen minutes early for our appointments, were greeted immediately upon arrival by reception and given tablets to fill complete a brief medical history and what type of massage we are expecting. She also explained everything to us and assured us we are in charge so if we want more pressure, or less, or don't touch my feet, etc., that we only need to say the word and it would be accomplished. It's our massage. I have to say everyone of us wanted something different and everyone of us was super happy with the results. Our pregnant friend was absolutely thrilled with her pregnancy massage. Her masseuse was well trained, very personable and super sweet! Another in our party wanted the knots to go, but told them 'not to leave bruises' and she got what she requested. Me on the other hand, I wanted those pesky knots *gone*! I had gotten a massage a few weeks before and the knots remained. I asked her to do what needed to be done and by god, she got them out! Was it comfortable? Not always. Most of the time, but I had a couple in my back that were just determined not to move. She used several techniques and she got rid of them. I did bruise, but I knew in the moment I would bruise and I was happy with that as long as the knots were gone. And to be clear, I have been experiencing head/neck/shoulder pain for months. After my massage here, the headaches are gone. I call that a win! The bruising is temporary and as I could have told her to stop, that's on me. She did as requested and I am very happy to no long have those things causing constant pain. The facility is very clean. Reception is bright and sunny. The back area is dimly lit and we waited in a small waiting area in the back which helped us to wind down. We spoke with our masseuse prior to disrobing to be sure they understood what our needs were and the massage was 50 minutes as advertised. A couple of gender neutral restrooms are in the back area to use before your appointment if needed. The cost of a monthly membership is quite reasonable for those of us who try to get a massage monthly. As a long time customer of Massage Envy, having been to locations all over the United States, I have come to expect a level of service commensurate with the majority locations. Sadly, this location has a few 5 star employees however one in particular is destroying the property for the owner and its employees. The destruction comes from a woman named Emily. Emily exudes negativity, is happy to mask her gas lighting with smiles and gibberish while her condescending words and insults burn your ears and demoralize others around her and insult others not there to defend themselves. Emily is a massive disservice to this business and has ZERO business interacting with customers, let alone representing Massage Envy. I have asked the owner to call me so that we may discuss my experience but instead I received a long winded email 'reaching out' to me about topics I had not discussed nor asked about which, if the owner calls me, will only help to illustrate my point that Emily is not representative of Massage Envy because instead of passing along a message to call me, Emily clearly filled her boss' ears with garbage because that is exactly what I received. I look forward to hearing from the owner as per my requested call and not a predisposition message based on whatever Emily thinks I need to hear. That was wrong of you to do that Emily. Great customer service!! We had a problem with our last massage and we called the front desk to express our concerns. The employee was friendly and listened well. She agreed that our concerns were valid and should not have happened. Before she could offer a discount on a future massage or something similar, she had to talk to management, whom wasn't in the office at that time. She was excellent about calling back and fixing our problem. That was quite refreshing to know she had my back. Well you can expect a warm greeting and see excellence at her duties. I traveled with another customer and her appointment was before mine. So I spent sometime with Taylor and she made me herbal Tea and made sure I was comfortable . She was kind and caring to all who entered . I met Drew a masseur and he was just" Great" for my companion . I liked him right away and my companion said she would highly recommended him and she'd stay with him if she could for future appointments. I had Vee as my masseur . She really wanted to know what my expectations and concerns were, and I found she really followed through on attacking these areas that I needed her to contend with. She always made me feel I could ask for more or less pressure . That is very important to me. I felt heard and lucky for me she has talent and a way to make you feel at ease . I had a really great experience at the massage envy in Covington! I'm really glad they are able to offer their services during this time and it seemed like they had a lot of happy customers going in and out. This was my first time at a massage envy so I was not sure what to expect but it's a very nice facility. My sister booked my massage and took me with her so I don't have any information on pricing or packages. You can probably find that online but my sister says it's a great deal and very convenient if you like to get routine massages. Upon walking in, we were greeted and had our temperatures checked. Everyone was wearing masks but you can still tell they were smiling and cheerful. The atmosphere was welcoming and friendly. I didn't have to wait too long before getting to go back to the room. Diane walked me back, she was great! She explained everything very clearly to me and asked me what I wanted/needed and made sure I was comfortable. Felt rushed I went in for a 60 minute facial and left within 40 minutes I received no neck wrap when checking in (normally I get offered one but not this time). The front desk was moving too quickly for me to get completely comfortable and on top of that my facial was rushed. I went ahead and canceled my membership and I STILL got charged for the next month! My husband has been to several Massage Envy locations, and really enjoys this location a lot. The customer service here is great. Once, my husband had a therapist here he really didn't connect with afterwards, he left the office pretty dissapointed and in a hurry. 2 days later the management here called and followed up with him, because they noticed he left quite abruptly and wanted to see if everything was okay. They gave a chance for him to explain the situation and it was great. I really appreciate this type of follow-up. You hate to be the one to go out of your way to complain, and when the staff notice something is wrong - it just goes to show you how much they pay attention to their clients and their satisfaction here. He's never had a customer service experience like that at any other ME location. Covington is great. :) read more

I've been coming to Massage Envy Covington for over 6 years now and the last 2 times I've arrived there has been a mix up with my appointment time and I was unable to get my massage. Their receptionists are at fault. Double check your times folks because the receptionists are inept at their job. It felt more like a body rub that an elderly person might appreciate. She spent so much time on one area that she didn't even get to my legs and feet. The last two weeks at work have been stressful beyond belief, and yesterday I hit critical mass. I needed to do something to release some pressure or things were gonna get ugly, fast. I decided a massage was the way to go. I'm no stranger to professional massages, but I was a stranger to Massage Envy. Didn't feel like driving to Seattle, and I was enticed by their $39.99 introductory offer. They weren't able to get me in the same day I called, unfortunately, but that's only because I was only comfortable with a female therapist (they had two openings the day I called, but both were with male therapists). What can I say, I'm old-fashioned. But hey, at least they answered the phone, unlike the Renton location, which I called twice without getting anything but an answering machine. So, the big day arrives, and I walk in, already feeling a little chilled out by the relaxing atmosphere. I will say it was a little odd how many people were there, there were 4 or 5 people working the front desk and a steady stream of what I assume were regular customers going in and out. After I filled out my first-timer paperwork, I was lead back to a "quiet room" (also very chill-inducing, nice!) to wait for my therapist. I used their bathroom and it was classy and continued the relaxation vibe. They even had some "French Vanilla Latte" sugar scrub at the sink for me to use, which was very luxe, I loved it. Helped set the tone for the massage to come. My masseuse was Kayla. She was a woman of few words, but it's only a 50 (not 60) minute massage, so that's okey-dokey with me. She did a good job, adjusting the pressure as I requested so we got it juuust right. I splurged 10 bucks for the Aromatherapy add-on, which basically consists of them holding oils in your face three times throughout the session and asking you to breathe deeply three times. They put the essential oils into your massage lotion too (most places would do this for free, btw!!), but you can't really smell it while they're working on you. She did give me the leftovers in a little plastic bottle afterwards, which I really liked. I am using it often to kind of try to recapture that mid-massage feeling. So, the end result? She hit all the right spots and I got off the table feeling loosey-goosey in all the right ways and grinning like a simpleton. The part that sucks and really killed the post-massage vibe, was the hard sell sales pitch (given to me by a front desk-er) before I could pay to become a "member"- 60 bucks a month gets you 1 massage plus any additional massages are $39.99. I was expecting this due to the 50% off introductory rate, but it still sucked and was a bit of a downer. As I get massages maaaybe once a year, this really wouldn't make sense for me, and at least they accepted that and let me move on. Overall, I got what I was looking for. The feel was a little more "chain-y" then I like (but they have 800 locations, what did I expect?), and the non-member price for a massage after your first one is 80 bucks! So next time I will go elsewhere. But if I ever need massages on a monthly basis, I would definitely consider a membership here. read more

They were nice enough to call later in the day to tell her that they were going to bill her since they could not fill the appointment time. She not only worked out my knot but explained how I did it, how to avoid getting it back again and again. She was very sweet. I hate massage therapists who are scared to push hard on me because I am petite. I can handle the pain. lol Pricing is good, $39 for a hour massage, but it isn't a entire 60 minutes, more like 45 minutes. They take the time you need to get undressed and dressed, fyi. Not my first massage, but my first visit to a Massage Envy location to take advantage of their discounted promo. A massage for $39? Sign me up. Pros: Brand new, very spa-like decor. Spotless. Peaceful setting. Professional staff. Heated massage table was wonderful. Soothing music. Cons: sign informing you how much to tip in the room (tacky). No way to quietly write in the tip if you are paying by credit/debit card. The receptionist has to key it in for you before you sign so you have to announce the amount to the lobby. (Should have just brought cash, but I never carry any!) The massage itself was fine - the 50 minutes did not seem to include my feet or my head, which surprised me. However, Sara made an effort to target the area I mentioned I had pain & did a good job. Bottom line: worth it for the discounted massage, but the regular price for a 50 min massage is $78 (!!) if you aren't a member. Membership is $60/month which gets you the massage at that price. I can't afford $60/month - so I will be looking elsewhere for a massage next time as I'm sure I can find one for under $78. read more

My husband and I first found this place in December. They had a special and we were able to schedule both of us that same day so we went and had our introductory massage. We were please about being both able to get in that first time and we purchased the massage a month for a year package. We went in January and February and haven't been back for our March massage. I like a deep tissue sports massage and was told when we purchased that they do those. The problem is they are difficult to schedule since most of the practioners do the Swedish type. The therapist that does that type of massage is rarely available on the weekend. Even though I have credits here I needed to find a different therapist who could work on my sports issues. I will come back again since we signed a contract for a year. If I did not have the contract, I would likely not go back. read more

Update: My mother went to her first massage appointment, after the appointment my mother was hesitant to schedule another appointment. After leaving my mom informed my sister that the therapist (who she just met) told her she would go to her funeral and what a wonderful lesson she was teaching her grandchildren about death. I would like to say: Yes, my mother has cancer, however, that doesn't mean she is dying. The therapist also question my Mom's reason for having a massage because it could make the cancer spread faster. I am pretty sure my mother's Oncologist wouldn't recommend a treatment that would harm her more. Let me not forget that to top everything else the therapist told my Mom she had never gone for training, but has been giving massages for over 20 years. Need I say more? The upset and hurt this therapist caused my Mother is monstrous. *** My first review (how wrong I was): I want to say how helpful the branch administrator, (Sean or Scott- can't recall the name off the top of my head) was today! I am pretty ignorant about message therapy and wanted to see if they had any certain messages that were specialized for people with cancer. His first words wasn't to try and sale me a package or list off prices, but to ask if my Mom was doing okay. This meant a lot to me. He took time to explain a bit about each therapist he would recommend, what type of cancer patients they had dealt with, and their years of experience. He then gave me a brochure explain different messages and packages for me to show my mother along with his card so we could call him directly anytime with more questions. Let me tell you, this woman knows her stuff and really makes you feel AMAZING with a beautiful glow after a session with her. She is professional, super sweet, and overall wonderful person who makes you feel at ease. HIGHLY recommend her! The reason why I am only giving 3 stars is because every time I try to call and make an appointment, it's IMPOSSIBLE to have someone pick up the phone. I called this location on Monday and was able to be seen on Wednesday which was fabulous. I was experiencing more neck pain that usual due to stress (getting married in ten days). When I entered, I was very happily greeted by the front desk who gave me paperwork to fill out. He then showed me the rooms and led me to the quiet room. I had specified that I have constant hip pain as well and that I needed a very deep massage. When I met Sharon I knew she understood where I hurt, she explained to me her process and we started. My god, what a heavenly massage, I tend to book with men masseuses because they can put a lot of pressure on the areas I need but Sharon was amazing. Immediately she found my trigger points and dug in. While this type of massage is only for people who can handle it, I was honestly in heaven. My neck, back and hips feel great. The only downfall is that corporate sell at the end, luckily I got out quick, but I'm tempted to sign up just because of Sharon! read more

I can not express how grateful I am to have such a great group of massage therapists close to home. Today I saw Sharon. Let me start by saying that I was in a great deal of pain when I walked in there. I threw out my back four days ago and I haven't been able to walk normal ever since. I was nervous going in thinking that a new therapist might not go deep enough. Not Sharon. She dug right in. I cried my eyes out. It was amazing. I CAN WALK! She got places that no one has ever touched before. Sharon knows what's up.My experience was great, the girls at the front desk are very kind. All around great day. I would also like to mention that Darren and Joyce have helped out both me and my fiancé a great deal in the past. Four and not five star: The essential oils are amazing BUT a little pricy so I just use them at home. Unless I have extra money at the time of the massage. If my review was strictly about my therapist (Kayla) I would award her five stars (i'd add a sixth, if I could). I have been getting massage therapy every two weeks from Kayla for nearly a year and a half, and it has been very beneficial for a couple of chronic issues as well as my overall well-being. Kayla is very intuitive, she knows many techniques and no two massages are ever exactly the same, and she has a very calm and soothing demeanor. Likewise, I have always found the staff at the front desk to be exceptionally friendly and service-oriented; all the people at the Covington location are first rate. There is a nice "quiet room" where you sit while waiting for your therapist, and you are always offered water before and after the massage. All good. What lowers the rating is simply Massage Envy's corporate business model. There is a teaser rate for your first visit, and then if you wish to continue, you'll either be paying a very high rate or else you'll need to sign up for a monthly membership. They make it quite difficult to get out of a membership, you are obligated to stay for at least one year and after that they require to give 30 days notice before they will end the monthly billing. The membership fee of $59/mo only gives the member one hour of massage, additional time is at a discounted rate, but even if you go for 2 or 3 hours in a month, you aren't saving much (if anything) over rates at other clinics that do not bind you with a membership. And unlike some other chains (like Elements, which is now in Maple Valley), Massage Envy does not permit you to grant time or your discounted rates to other persons in your family...everyone must have their own membership. Obviously, if you have a doctor's prescription for massage therapy, the membership model doesn't really work for insurance reimbursements, and you'll want to seek out a clinic that can directly bill your medical insurance. Other aspects that annoy me include the fact that the same music (at the same non-adjustable volume) is piped into each of the very plain rooms, so you can't get the music changed if it is not to your liking. And if you are used to an independent therapist using scented oils, know in advance that ME therapists use a generic unscented oil unless you pay extra for "aromatherapy." The therapists all wear the same corporate uniform. The company seems to want the experience to be as uniform as possible, but the rigid and bland sameness strikes me as rather off-putting for a relaxation experience. It is nice that you can get massage at any of ME's many locations...but that's a benefit I've never used. It is also nice that ME is open 7 days a week, and the fact that they have evening and early morning hours is extremely helpful for working people. If (like me) you get the right therapist, you'll likely find the trade-offs of the Massage Envy model are acceptable, and that given the very competent and friendly staff, and the other positive aspects of the business, a membership is an overall positive experience. read more

Came here because I may be relocating to this area, and I had bad luck with the Massage Envy in the landing so I gave this one a try. I liked that they actually ask what type of massage you want instead of just assume like most places. Not everyone likes hard pressure! I also liked the warm towel on my back to begin, and the bolster under my knees and ankles. Also, when I laid on my back they put the headrest under my head like a pillow. No one has ever done that for me before! Knocking off a star because I was mid-massage half asleep super relaxed, and someone barges in the room asking if I was "Kim." I was like umm...nope. Not Kim. She then proceeded to say " I lost Kim!". Was a bit weird and completely woke me up from my nap. Was a bummer. But I will for sure be back when I move into the area. read more

As a long time Massage Envy member, I can honestly say this is the best location and therapist I have ever been to. The person who I booked the appt with was very professional and asked a lot of questions to make sure I was set up with the right therapist. It was clean and quiet in the reception area, waiting area, and room. Bathrooms were bery clean as well. My therapist was Kelly and she was amazing. She really took the time to work on my neck pain and by the end of my massage I had full range of motion back. I just can't say enough what a pleasant experince this was! I get massage about once a month. I was visiting from out of town had some time to kill so thought I would get a massage. They were able to get me in same day which I appreciated. The front desk staff was super nice, helpful & professional. Everyone has a different opinion of a good massage. What I like someone else may hate and so it goes. My therapist was OK. Wasn't the best for me but someone else might love her. She dug right in without any light strokes to kinda warm up my muscles and even after I said "too deep" she didn't change her pressure.
