The massage was great, but unfortunately the customer service is terrible. The "Lead" front desk woman was down right rude and degrading. There was a miscommunication on their end, and as new customers they booked us something that we were informed we weren't allowed to use because we were not "members". We were informed of this only during our appointment time They then argued with us for 5-10 minutes until the therapists asked them to let us receive the treatment. They did not reimburse us for the time lost. Additionally, after the stressful beginning and the massage we were aggressively confronted by the lead front desk. Informing us that it was our fault that we were not aware as first time customers what we were and were not allowed to book. She said she only let us receive the treatment because she didn't not want to deal with us. Terrible experience and will not come back. Please fix your front desk, they are the last people the customer sees and the final impression. This is not how you act in customer service. read more

I was down in Orlando visiting the family and was feeling stiff so I decided to take a shot at going to Massage Envy. Boy...it was just what the doctor ordered. I made an appointment the same day and got in to see Andresa. Let's just say that she is wonderful. I was skeptical about going to a woman for a deep tissue massage (I have a ton of knots) and boy did she handle them. I called early morning to schedule a massage appointment for later that afternoon. Since the massage envy near my house was booked, I settled for this one that is about a 30+ drive away from me. I arrive 10 minutes earlier for my 2:00 appointment where I was greeted by the receptionist (a blonde younger girl). She asked me to spell my first and last name about 4 times and then stuck out her finger in my face to shush me so that she could sneeze WITHOUT covering her face. Disgusting AND extremely rude. She then notified me that my appointment was accidentally scheduled for tomorrow and they only have a facial open today. I told her I only needed a massage because of my back pain. She only said sorry and they didn't even bother doing anything for me to recompensate my time and drive because of their mistake. Never going back. read more

Massage Envy is what it is... a cheap massage. I got talked into the one-year membership, which I have tried to get out of since after my first massages, but to no avail. First off, the good things are that the place is very clean, organized, and it seems to have a standard - yet robotic - set of procedures. Now, for the important stuff: The receptionists at the door are absolutely horrible at first impressions - frigid, uncaring, and total lack of interest and eye contact. They SEND you to the "tranquility room" when they should be escorting you there. The massages are very lackluster. Although they make you believe they are interested in your history, preferences, and medical issues, it is apparent they never look at that paperwork again. Being an acrobat and tumbler, I have many aches and pains throughout my body. I always relay my current needs to my therapist before the session, but seldom do those needs get any more attention than anything else. I also marked that I would like my glutes worked on (a box you can check on the preference list, and a must-have for a tumbler), yet no one has given it any attention whatsoever. They pretend they "specialize" in various massage techniques (Swedish, deep tissue, reflexology, etc) but almost every single massage is the same - generally a rubdown with lotion, sometimes painful if they think they want to show how strong they are! IF you happen to get a good therapist (as I did with Patty), he/she will not survive there for long, because there are much greater places for them to work and get better clients and tips. My BIGGEST PET PEEVE is that Massage Envy advertises one-hour massages, but never even ONCE - NOT ONCE - have I gotten anything over a 50-minute session... and usually is is more in the realm of 45 minutes!! The therapist may come and get you on the hour, but then they spend three minutes talking to you about your "concerns and preferences" (that never get attention), then allow you to change (but don't return for several minutes while it only takes seconds to prepare yourself), and by the time they start, it is typically almost 7-8 minutes after the hour. And they always stop - like robots - at the 50-minute mark. Therefore, if you are lucky, you might get the 50 minutes; if not, you will get 45... but they do go fetch you some water! If I add up the lost minutes from my one-year contract, they still owe me two 80-minute massages. If that is not enough, they plaster their "tip chart" like eye sores in every nook and cranny of the cookie cutter building. They all state that the massages are worth much more than you are paying, and that standard tips are up to 25%. This is nonsensical, gross, and unnecessary! The massages have a value of $39, regardless of what they claim to be "worth." If I buy from McDonalds Value Menu, the hamburger is $1, despite their ploy to convince me it is worth $2.79. Therefore, you should be tipping off the actual cost, NOT the perceived value! I personally always leave a $15 tip (unless I get someone who cares, like Patty), but if I left what I should, it would be significantly less. Bottom line is that you usually get what you pay for. Yes, a good massage typically costs more than $39. However, I have had better massages at a massage school, where the students pay really good attention to detail because they want to gain clients and are working for tips. Massage Envy should be envious of everyone. read more

Prefer this location to the one in Hunters Creek. Office staff really nice and helpful. Love that they take the extra step to pair you with a therapist the meets your needs. Also have been happy with both therapist I have had, Rene and Brian. Really listened to what my concerns were and helped with my back and shoulder pain. Now I am a regular. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS LOCATION. Booked a couples massage. They got us into the room about 8 minutes after our appointment. Next thing you know, they were done 10min early. Massages were not good at all. Regret using 2 of my membership massages at this place. I believed that signing up for a 6 month membership would be beneficial. I had no issues with the actual service but with the way they handle business with paper handling is a bit cold and employees in the front are clueless. The policy, cancellation must be 24 hours prior, for pretty much everywhere but I have never been to a service company that didn't sympathize with specific situations like mine. I had absolutely no control over cancelling my appt. and even called the second I knew I wouldn't be able to make it in order to alleviate short notice for therapist. I called about 10 times to dispute it and in between I got a hold of the manager. She explained how backed up she was on her stack and that she would get back to me within 48 hrs. She did not. I called today (about 5 days later) Just so she can tell me the same "too busy and backed up" speech. I let her know that I only had a short amount of time to use my session so she proceeded to listen to my situation again. I called for the millionth time just so she could tell me the policy is the policy and nothing can be done. She did correct me on my deadline to use the session which brings me to the incorrect information other employees gave me whenever I would ask questions regarding my membership. They would always give me the run around and give me WRONG information for everything. Do not sign up for the membership... don't even bother going here at all. read more

I was fortunate to find Roberto available for a 90 minute massage. I've never had a male masseuse, but I was in so much pain that I didn't care. He was kind, knowledgeable, professional, and quickly put me at ease. He listened to my concerns and quickly went to work targeting the problem areas. This morning I feel so much better. I went here as a first timer and got the 1 hour massage special for $50. It was AWESOME.....Beatrice was great. I told her I wanted to take her back to Chicago because I doubt I'd find someone just as good. It's been a while since I've had a massage that put me to sleep and well, I don't snore but I was THIS day. lol. Great amount of pressure applied and she worked my problem areas really well, which were my neck, lower back and feet (due to my occupation). The membership is one that can't be beat. It travels with you wherever you go, it's reasonable and includes a free massage monthly. If you don't use the massage, it rolls over to the next month. If you want more massages in a month, the rates are seriously discounted. Who knew that massage envy was so diving??? I'm definitely a member. I have been to this massage envy before and have had some of their BEST therapists. I called to make an appointment and they recommended I see a woman named Janet. Big mistake. The whole massage was awkward. Not only did she tell me every little move she was about to make, but it felt like she kept making passive snide remarks about some of the other therapists I have seen in that location. It seemed to me she was trying to talk herself up by putting her coworkers down and it made for a very uncomfortable massage. She also wouldn't give me the pressure I wanted stating that "deeper pressure isn't always good." So it felt to me she was more concerned with how much work she had to put out rather than helping me. I would never recommend this person so anyone, but this location does have some amazing talent otherwise! They have a friendly front desk staff who try to work with your needs and a lot of the therapists are very accommodating otherwise. This was my first professional massage and I left with very mixed reviews. The staff was professional, and the location clean and very welcoming. The room was extremely relaxing. They offered a $39.95 special for your first session and I had been having some shoulder pain so figured I would try it. The masseuse was somewhat awkward, and this definitely wasn't for me. I have a location that is closer but they say I can't cancel there. They require that I cancel In person and at the location I originally joined. Not able to cancel by email or phone or fax. Personally really upset with this location. 1 Didn't call me when I had massages ready (as a member) so three months built up. 2 when I called to check if any were ready they told me no I didn't have any ready and I won't for a while. They don't seem to have things together, frazzled and unorganized. I will be going back to the winder garden location even though it's further because they really keep their customers happy. Decent massages at all massage envy's, however, I do not recommend getting a membership. I highly discourage anyone from doing so unless you have taken a lot of time to consider it. They specifically told me when I signed up that the massages I did not use during the year would role over for 6 months. This is not true. Now they get to keep my money from massages I did not use. No matter what the situation it was never a relaxing experience dealing with whoever was on the phone/front desk at any massage envy. They do not have good customer service skills at all and made getting a massage more stressful than it should be. read more

Then I get a call 30 minutes before my appointment that they are cancelling it. No apology nothing. The woman who called was rude and abrupt and could care less. Seemingly every time this happens and I try to book one on that day there are no openings. So I end up delaying gratification like I did today. So I decided to take my girlfriend for a treat, a couples massage. It was weird walking in because it felt like we was going to a doctors appointment. We got there a bit early so they took us to the "relaxation room" and it was a dark room with several couches. It was not relaxing it was full of people lol. So we went in this room where we were told to undress and go under the blanket. So we did... The beds were a bit too warm for me. I must say Kay (my message therapist) was fantastic! I was so relaxed, she massaged my back, arms, hands, neck, feet, calfs and buttocks. Ohhhh my it was A+... Although my girlfriends massage therapist Manuel was so loud, he kept rolling around in a chair.... It was pretty annoying because every time I got really relaxed he would disturb my peace! Needless to say my girlfriend had the worst experience ever sad thing it was her first time! So I guess if you are in search of a good massage therapist see Kay!!! She is fantastic! read more

Well this massage business is all new to me so I don't have a standard to judge by, but it seems very straightforward and above board to me. I tried the introductory $39.00 deal and really enjoyed it. I wasn't kept waiting, the young lady (Monica) who took care of me was very nice and asked me if there any particular treatment I wanted. I'm new at this, so I just said go ahead. She left me to get undressed and get on the massage table (which was heated - a nice touch). The massage lasted 50 minutes - maybe a couple of minutes over, as I expected and I felt great afterwards. But I was still a bit suspicious about the whole "membership" business. Sounds too much like a health club to me and they are almost always a scam, so I asked about a shorter membership. They told me they had a six month membership but that had a joining of fee of $39, otherwise the same price. I still wasn't convinced but I made an appointment for the following week. I went back to the website and it talked about a "fully paid" membership which hadn't been mentioned. When I went back, I asked about that option. They were OK with that and waived the additional fee. I paid $294.00 (six months) on the spot and that was that. The Manager even made it a one time payment, so it won't auto-renew unless I request it. That made me feel MUCH better ! My massage that day was #1 of six and I can take the other five any time in the next six months. If I want additional massages after that, I pay the members price of $39.00 Seems like a good deal to me. Monica gave me my massage and it was as good as the first - maybe better. If I could afford it, I would go every day on my way home from work. Now there's a thought ! So, all I can say is so far so good. I'm sure the quality of the massage depends on the person giving it and I'm sure some are better than others, but I have no complaints and I'm looking forward to the next one. read more

I had the worst experience at Massage Envy! I wanted to surprise my husband for Valentine's day with a massage. It turned out that my appointment time was messed up. They called me an hour earlier trying to rush me to get there telling me that I was supposed to be there right at that time and if I don't go now I will be charged for no call no show. This is ridiculous! I had my plans made, we were getting ready to leave so we'll be there on time and actually we did not get a massage had our plans all messed up and payed a fee for that too.... It really does depend on the therapist. I've had 3 over the years that have been fantastic! Most others have been good but not exceptional. It's frustrating though that it's hard to get in on short notice. Hard to plan ahead at times, especially when your body calls for one that day or the next. They are busy and that's good for them, but it does seem that they could have additional therapists available if they can't accommodate the calls that come in. I've found all the therapists to be pleasant. You don't get a full hour. The time it takes to check in and get dressed afterwards are lopped off so that your real time is more like 50 minutes. read more

Back in April I purchased a gift card at this location, for my parents. With the purchase, came a voucher for an additional 30 minute massage & enhanced therapy. The expiration date on the voucher was 9/9/16. Because my parents weren't able to use it, I decided to. The process of booking my appointment was quick, while booking I mentioned the voucher to the receptionist, and mentioned I would be adding to 30 minutes to my hour massage, and my husband would just be getting an hour. She confirmed us for the following day. We arrived 15 minutes before our scheduled appointment to fill out paper work - I brought up the voucher to the receptionist to THEN informed me that I was only booked for an hour and that my therapist wouldn't be able to stay an additional 30 minutes. Needless to say I was pissed. The only reason I even booked this appointment to begin with WAS to NOT LOOSE the VOUCHER!!! She said she would honor the voucher another time. I wasn't happy about that at all. If that was the case, I would've booked for a later date, not rearrange my entire schedule to accommodate the voucher. I agreed to just use the voucher towards aroma therapy to my massage (which basically added a scent to my lotion, whoopee!) .... I entered my massage room at 12:00 .. after small talk with the therapist she stepped out for me to change and entered at 12:10 and was done at 12:56. IT WAS SUPPOSE TO BE AN HOUR MASSAGE!!!!!! My husband had the SAME issue as for as the timing of his session and quality of the service. The massage was less than great. It was a basic rub, nothing special. This was my first time here, and I would never go to a massage envy again. We're use to real SPAS... where you don't feel like your entering a massage factory. Where each service is catered to your every need & quality is never an issue. I'm glad I used the gift card that was originally for my parents. I would've been even more upset if THEY had the same experience as I did. read more
