Pretty good experience for my first time. I loved my service. It was a pregnancy massage and the girl was helpful and efficient. I did not like the overly friendly mouse of a receptionist who kept trying to upsell me at every turn. That was not relaxing. She had a look of shy fear in her face which was awkward... My appointments were made quickly online and within an hour or so I was having my massage. My massage experiences were great, the pressure was just how I like it. Massage experience was decent, but overall working with the company was very trying. I think it's a larger franchise issue, so I don't solely blame the location, but blame the owners instead. I called because they had a giftcard promotion on this location's webpage for Valentine's Day. I was told that they aren't doing that promo at this location but they'd honor it since I saw it before it was removed online. The next day I went in person to make my couples massage appointment which I was quoted at the introductory rate for. (this was about 3 weeks before Valentine's Day which is around when my appointment was) 1 week before my massage I'm called and told that despite what I was quoted, I now had to pay the full non-member fee because the franchise owner didn't want to give specials during Valentine's Weekend (aka they wanted to make more money). I informed them that this is an extremely poor business practice and a decision like this should have been made weeks in advance. I let the manager know that I was not interested in paying more than I was quoted for and if I had to cancel then I wanted a cash refund since that was my only reason for buying the gift card. Since they can't give cash refunds for gift cards, she said they'd work it out and I could still come at the original appointment time. 30 minutes before my appointment I was called and told that one of the masseuse had a family emergency so my partner could get a massage and I could get a free facial or I could cancel. Yall, I signed up for a couple's massage to get a massage! I understand things happen, but this was thing number #3!! I went through a similar spiel about canceling and cash refunds so they said they'd try to work it out so we could still come. We get there and end up waiting 30min only to be told they couldn't work it out and we'd have to come back 4hrs later. We had to completely rearrange our plans just to make this work! The manager said we'd get the member rate due to having to reschedule, but when I checked-out, they tried to charge me the higher price until I reminded them. A fun relaxing experience with my partner who came in from out of town, turned into a very hectic Saturday centered around Massage Envy. I love love LOVE Massage Envy! You get the quality massage service without having to pay high prices for extra amenities like at a regular spa. The one on Forest Drive is the first I've been to and so far, I've been extremely happy with each one of my visits. First, the staff is great. They are ALL very professional, courteous and personable. The girl who helped me did a good job of explaining the various services they offer as well as their Wellness Program (which I decided to join, totally worth it if you plan on getting regular massages). Second, I've been to two massage therapists. The first girl I went to was very good, but the second was excellent (her name is Jenny). I totally recommend her..she is awesome! I had a prenatal massage done and she helped me to relax but simultaneously worked on my problem areas. Let's try this I said to myself. How bad could it be. 1st - I waiting until 10:18 for my 60-minute appoint which would've not been so bad but my appoint ended at 10:58. The room was bare, in inviting and there was a week connection in the lighting that made it so that if I hadn't keep my eyes closed that I'd probable had a seizure. Now, I don't blame the massage therapist for any of this. Especially not the room that was missing chunks of paint so that you could see the plaster below the regular purple on the walls. Or that they allowed people to speak loudly in the relaxation room, which is usually made for meditation or relaxation. I do, however, have a bit of an issue with a massage therapist who has no understanding of some basic massage touch techniques. Having my hip worked on with one hand while she starts trying to massage my calf, under the sheet with the other. If you don't care about relaxation, ambiance or that the location provides a positive working environment then I can recommend this Massage Envy to you. For the money, I'd go back to Empower Massage where you're in a small dark closet with someone who is actually really paying attention to you and not the clock. read more

my mate and I went to the Forest Acres Massage Envy location on April 23 for a couples massage. it was our first time at Massage Envy. we have both had massages in other locations in other countries and different states in the USA. After writing what we wanted and being asked by both massages, it was the worst massages that we have ever had. The massages were for 1 hour and the female that had my mate did not do anything that he had written or communicated directly to her. When he told her, she said " you would need an additional 30 minutes ". No apology for her lack of service. He only requested his back and knees, really..... She didn't know what she was doing. The other massage that I had wasted her time putting a bunch of oil on my body with really no type of pressure. Light massage doesn't mean do nothing. The front desk was told but they didn't even offer a coupon for another visit or anything. We shouldn't have been surprised since there were lots of openings when we booked and only one time for couples. We will never go there again and will let others know not to waste their time. I was still kind after letting the front desk know and gave a tip but they didn't deserve a penny. it was out of the kindness of my heart!! read more

If you like a "tingling" on your face that feels like fire then sure... this is the place for you. I called and made an appointment and when I showed up they said they had tried to call me to reschedule. They had tried to call but I had not received the message and had not called them back to talk to them about rescheduling because I had not received the message. I felt like they could have been more proactive about trying to get in touch with me or at least called more than once. So I rescheduled and came back. When I arrived the second time I was asked to sit down and one of the ladies from the front sat with me to fill out some paperwork. I wasn't pleased that these questions were being asked in the lobby right by the door where people were coming and going and anyone could hear our conversation. I was taken to the back for my facial. The table was not very comfortable. I was told up front what would be done but not which products would be used. I was told that the mask may tingle a bit but the warm towel would stop the tingling. This was all true except the tingle was more like burning. Near the end some kind of moisturizer was put on my face (and into my hair... my hair was so greasy when I left) but I don't know what any of the products were because I was never told. I prefer the esthetician to tell me what products they are using as they go so if I really like something then I'll know what to ask for if I want to purchase. So then it was over and my whole head felt oily and I was definitely super shiny. I paid and left. When I got home I looked in the mirror and saw my face was bright red. It remained red for a couple of days and finally faded back to a normal shade. I would not return. I've had a much better facial at Seven Doors Salon where the esthetician was nice, the products were wonderful, the table was much more comfortable and the price was right. read more

First, let me disclose that I have yet to even step foot in this location or any Massage Envy. I made an appointment for a 10:30 AM 1.5 hour massage. I am having terrible jaw muscle pain, so I requested the cranial sacral therapy. They do not provide this service at this location. -1 star. You should not be advertising services you cannot provide. The day before my appointment I received a confirmation call a little before noon to confirm, which I did. At 8:30 PM that same day, the spa called to cancel my appointment. -1 star. Had I done this, I was informed I would have been charged half the fee. So what do I get? "We can reschedule you for 6 PM." Not even close to the 10:30 AM massage, AND they offered me a therapist who couldn't even provide what I needed. -1 star. If Massage Envy had any pride in their company they could have called one of their many other locations nearby and found something comparable for me or remedied the situation at the Forest Acres location in a way that actually compensated for such a late cancellation on their part. I greatly enjoy the spa and treat myself to massages often. However, I have a gift card here. I will 100% be decreasing to the 1 hour massage so they receive no money from me personally and will never return after that. read more

Two emails and five phone calls and I still haven't received a response to my email or a returned call from the manager, who is apparently the only person who can cancel the monthly recurring charge to my card that I did not sign up to receive more than 12 months of services for. My experience varied regarding the quality of massage depending on the therapist. The biggest issue I had was in canceling my membership. It was a convoluted process in that the front desk staff did not have the form and the message had to be conveyed to the manager who then emailed me the form, but all the while they were really pushing for me to just suspend the account rather than canceling. Be aware that it takes 10 days if the form is processed on time for the account to be cancelled so during that time, another automatic withdraw occurred and then you only have a month to use that session from the date of cancellation. It was a lot of time, money, and effort spent. read more

I was able to book an appointment within a couple of days, however it was not a very good experience. My message started late even though I showed up a half hour early and the foot scrub I paid for took away from my supposed to be hour message. I requested that my mesues, Chesnee, focus on my neck and shoulders. She did not. I asked if she could return to those areas toward the end. She did not seem to have a good attitude and ignored the large knot on my right shoulder. She suggested that I come back and get a longer message. I left unhappily with my knotted shoulder. If you're going to get a massage here, you need to see Big Mike. There's two Michaels at this location and the other one is little, so make sure you get the right one! He used to be a trainer for USC and by far he is the best therapist they have! My back has never felt better and I've never met a more enthusiastic, honest masseuse! He even shows me some stretches and makes recommendations for me to help in between sessions. I wish I could put him in my pocket and take him with me every where I go!!!! read more

How this place stays in business is beyond my comprehension. I called to make an appointment for a couples massage and spoke to Heather. She said they were only making appointments for existing customers. I asked if they were booked for the day and she said there was an 8pm appointment available. I said "Well if an existing customer does not book that appointment can I book it?" She said yes and to call back at 5pm. I called back at 5pm and another girl answered the phone and said "We are closing at 6pm today^ so no appointment. The only reason that I am giving this location two stars is because the massage therapists are phenomenal! They really do try to make you comfortable and focus on the areas which need the most help. However, the receptionists and managers of this location are extremely rude and lie about appointments and the membership policies, and keep yearly memberships going after the year is up, even though they told me repeatedly that this would not happen. I waited for three weeks for a manager to call me back (that was with me calling daily trying to reach one and leaving messages with them to try to find out why I was still being charged after my year was over). Then they would not let me get the massages that they had charged me for. I will definitely not be returning to this location or any massage envy for that matter. read more

This was quite possibly the worst experience I have ever had. I was early for my 60min massage yet didn't get taken back to my room until about 6:05 where I then was left to get undressed so the massage didn't start until at least 6:10pm. The therapist, Shay, was so bad. There was NO technique used other then rubbing her knuckles up and down my body over and over to where it just hurt. Once she finished, I thought "that was quick". I look at my phone and it was 6:50pm. I walk out and the manager (I'm assuming) asked how it was and I said "I thought I booked a 60 min?" She goes, "yeah there's a 5 min unclothing and clothing time at the beginning and end" That would put me at 6:55pm end time that is if It actually started at 6, which it did not. Then the manager (white woman with shorter dark hair and tattoos on her arms) couldn't have seemed to care any less. In the most monotoned, uninterested voice, she was asking if I wanted to get a membership. I said ill think about it. She says "okay i charged your card on file. Have a good night". Massages are usually low to mediocre quality. Usually due to they hire therapists that are right from school with little experience which is why you pay so low. That said, if you can get one that has been there a while the quality is usually pretty good. But those are few and far between as a good massage therapist usually leaves for a better opportunity. I've personally found 2 I like at this location, both have moved on to better. But for $39 a massage, its okay. If you have a contract that pays more than that, it isn't worthwhile. (I know some that pay $59, for that price you can go to a better place with a massage therapist with more experience.) That staff can also be a little immature. read more

I made an appt to get a massage the day before Valentine's Day. When making the appointment, I asked the receptionist how much the massage would be. She told me since my husband and I were new customers, the cost would be 65.00 each so I moved forward with the appointment despite the unavailability of couples massage where my husband and I could be in the same room as one another. Upon checking out after the massage, the receptionist told me the total would be $230.00! I asked her why it was so much considering f they told me 65.00 each for new customers when I made the appointment and that I only planned to spend $130.00. She told me that they were running a special for Valentines Day and that the new customer price doesn't count for Valentine's Day. Normally a special would mean I'm saving money so that did not make any sense. I then asked her if they could honor what I was told over the phone since I hadn't anticipated spending that much and wouldn't have made the appointment otherwise since I've never spent 115.00 each for a one hour massage. She then said she couldn't because of Valentine's Day and said corporate wouldn't allow it but that if I were a member or signed up to be, they could give it to me at the member cost. I traveled an hr to be there and I don't have massage envy around where I live and certainly didn't want to become a member after how I was already misled. She was absolutely unwilling to work with me despite their error and miscommunication. I will never go back. Call every month or so to remind about massage but when asked - have no appointments available. Why call if you have no appts??? Front desk Staff not friendly - appears as though customers are inconvenience to them....more of an interruption than a welcomed client who supports the business. Wonder is the manager is aware of if they actually care. Been this way for awhile - may be one reason that multiple massages build up. Nothing worse than poor customer service in a place that you would expect excellent service. Disposable income can be spent anywhere. I've had a membership to Massage Envy for the last 3 years. I've also been to both locations in Columbia ( Sandhill, & Forest Acres), the Forest Acres locations is my favorite for massages. It's been the best due to at least two of their staff being exceptional at deep tissue/ sports massages. Not to say the rest are not as good, but that's just the type of work I usually like and those that specialize in it I see more often. Having had others from time to time I can say all the staff from the desk to message therapist are very professional, clean, and accommodating. The establishment is very nice, from the waiting area to the bathroom... They also carry a nice array of skin care products that is also used by the Esthetician on hand the does facials and not just someone putting products an chemicals in your face saying it's a facial. I had at least two in a year and a half and that's a lot for a guy, lol but it's good to have a licensed professional look at your skin and tell you how to keep it healthy by asking what you use and really assessing what your issues may be. read more

She was asking all sorts of questions about whether I had been there before...I told her I was from out of town but she kept asking questions and would not tell me if they had an opening even though I repeatedly ask. Finally, I got her to tell me they had an opening in 15 mins...I told her I was in my car driving to their location for the appointment. She told me she would not hold the appointment without my credit card....I told her I was in traffic and couldn't give it to her at the moment but I would be there within a few minutes. What a Waste of time and money. I leave hearing "what you get is what you get". Presented with no massage options even though it takes no time to set up the options they provide, she said it herself. I know they're capable of other massages. 'The Head' masseuse, or whoever that was, was professional at first but then completely UNPROFESSIONAL to me after i paid and brought attention the the fact I was given no options. No wonder the low reviews. Should be ashamed at the customer service I was NOTHING but nice but you guessed it, got horrible attitude instead. And that's the truth. My masseuse was great and nice but made sure to gossip to the counter girl my problem ASAP in private so she could demean me and get ready to intimidate me as soon as I paid. I'm a nice guy too, that attitudes gonna blow the wrong person up one day. Like I said I'd be embarrassed. I've worked with service for years. I know how it works.
