She is the best of the best! I realize, thanks to Emma, just how much better my body can work. I suffer from chronic pain and horrible osteoarthritis. Emma has helped to ease some of the pain. She seems to know exactly what I need and where without me saying a word. When I do voice areas of concern she works her magic and I feel better. Honestly I will take the fault in not carefully checking the time I scheduled my appointment. HOWEVER When I walked in one of the front desk ladies (3 in total) greeted me, asked me my name and if I had a appointment. The usual questions. I honestly thought I had one but it was for the pm. My mistake. However, the older front desk lady that chimed in this morning was very rude. After a 12 hour shift over night i was not In the mood for her. So I told her that's fine just cancel it and she proceeded to explain the cancellation policy with the same rude tone. So I said again yeah it's fine just cancel it. I didn't even have a Karen tone it was my am/pm mix up, so fine. As she continued. Me, not in the mood to listen anymore I just walked out. With the understanding that my appointment will be canceled and if no one takes the spot I pay 50% (which was explained to me) which again fine It was my mix up. But I checked my app an hour later and they didn't cancel it. So I called another location asking if it showed canceled and how long it takes on the app to update. I was told it was not canceled and give it about an hour. So now I am kind of mad that they didn't even open it up to be filled. So it would look like a no call no show and I would be stuck with the 100%. So I called and thank god she (older lady) didn't pick up! Instead I got one of the other ladies. Whom was also up front when I walked in. I told her why I was calling (the app still has me as having this appointment. And I was in this morning and I need it canceled). I didn't even have to say my name she knew exactly who I was and told me by name that she will go ahead and cancel it. (So now I am thinking they did it on purpose) Not a minute later. I refreshed my app and my appointment was canceled. Basically I am writing this because I feel bad for the masseuses that work there. Because the front staff is who sets the mood for your experience and if it starts out with attitudethen you aren't going to want to come back especially if it's your first time at this location. (Not my first time at this location, but only place that had an opening for what I thought was an am appointment) Mind you it's not my first choice of locations. However I have truly never had a unpleasant experience at this location till today. Normally it's a neutral experience. And by the looks of it other people have had the same experience with front staff being rude.(maybe the same lady?) The reason for 2 stars is because one, the lady on the phone was not rude or inconvenienced by me, and two it was my mix up on am/pm. And I knew it was a different person then the older lady was because she has a distinctive voice. Basically, I won't be back to this location even if they are the only ones with openings. read more

This location has a severe inability to honor its appointment times. I have scheduled a total of 3 appts in the last 8 months, and every time they were cancelled by Massage Envy at the last minute (often less than 6 hours prior). Batting zero, they offered me a $10 add on as a compensation on round 3. Which is comedic, because had I cancelled last minute, I would have lost the entire cost of each session (times 3!), an amount averaging 10 times the $10 add on they offered me when I expressed appropriate frustration. That doesn't even speak to the fact of my schedule and how it's impacted with other things I rearranged. If you schedule at this location, you roll the dice on whether or not your monthly membership cost will actually be honored with an actual service. It's so much fun to pay for services not rendered! Then I asked for the number posted in the lobby to connect with the owners for any problems/comments, and that got me to a voice mail with the names of 4 different people (none of whose names match the owners listed)...leaving me with no recourse to discuss this issue with anyone in a position to actually be concerned with the reputation of their location. read more

I had 2, massage envy gift cards worth $600 that were stolen when the massage envy system was hacked. The gift card numbers (I had the physical cards with me in CA) were used at this Gilbert location and the Gilbert Highland location. My gift card numbers were stolen due to their lack of security in their system and then they allowed a customer, actually, a criminal, to use the gift card numbers without a physical card in hand and refuse to reimburse me the $176 that was stolen off my gift card. The franchise owners for the Gilbert location were very responsive and gave me a new gift card with the amount stolen but the Gilbert Highland owner has been completely unresponsive to me, and to the manager of the Manhattan Beach location where the initial gift cards were purchased. The owners were told by the corporate office that it is good policy to reimburse clients that had their gift card numbers stolen but I guess this location doesn't care or maybe one of their employees is in on the scam!! Do not buy gift cards from Massage Envy!! They do not have a secure system and or protocol in place to protect the purchaser / and recipient of the gift card. Definitely do not go to this location! Go to the other location in Gilbert, at least their owners are ethical people who will right a wrong, and know how to run a customer service-oriented business. read more

An ok massage tonight. I scheduled my usual female massage therapist , but was reschedule with a male. His massage technique was fine, but he used an abundance of oil. When I left, I felt as though I could slide on out the door instead of walk. I came home and immediately showered, which ruined the entire relaxing and soothing effect of my massage. I really did not want to write a bad review, but I feel like it's necessary as a learning curve for this company. I've been to massage envy a few times. There was only once I felt genuinely relaxed and well worked on. This last time was just a repeat of poor professional experience. Most of the people working for this company are so young, inexperienced and awkward. For some reason I always end up with those girls. The girls try and have a conversation the entire time they massage you, and vent about their day, or their stress (which really complicates your mood to relax) and I left with more of a head ache and tension than I came in with. I love deep tissue, but I felt the girl in my most recent visit overly worked my back, and did little to no work on the rest of my body. I woke up with a major head ache and my back feels like I was slammed against a wall. I am genuinely shocked there's no bruising, but my back is extremely red like I have a sun burn. My husband bought me a gift card for $100 (which is the only reason I came here). The front desk looked at me like I was crazy when I tipped the girl $25. I didn't do it because I thought she did a great job.. I did it because I never want to come to massage envy again, and the poor girl was barley 20 with 3 kids and completely uncomfortable and stressed out in her work environment. I get this is a franchise, each one can be owned or operated differently with their staff and treatment of their hiring process.. The pattern seems consistent no matter what massage envy I walk in to. It's young kids at the desk who are absolutely useless, or inexperienced unprofessional massage therapists. I called and was able to get a massage for the same day. I needed it and was so glad I could get in. Hannah, at the front desk, was very friendly and got me settled. Bianca was my LMT. She made sure I was comfortable and I liked how she truly focused on the areas I needed. I got an upper body massage because that was where I was having issues. I liked that she took time to talk to me and make sure everything was how I wanted it (heated table, pressure, etc.) The massage was relaxing and I feel much better. Check out was nice and quick. I'm bummed about my experience here today. I was looking forward to a nice relaxing massage on my day off, especially with everything going on right now in the world. I was excited when i called this location at noon that they had a walk in availability at 3. They asked what pressure i liked and told me they had a gentleman who does medium-firm and also told me to arrive 15 mins prior since i was a new customer and needed to fill out paperwork, I did so- everything was great. The girls up front were nice and friendly and had great attitudes. I sat in the waiting room about 5 til and was scrolling through social media waiting- a little after 3, I saw a gentleman, who i assumed was my masseuse, walk a client up front and i knew he'd need 10 mins or so to change the bedding so I wasn't worried, I cut hair and I've ran behind a time or two. After he called me back it was around 3:10, we walked in the room, he asked if I wanted anything particular. I said I was there for some relaxation on my day off but I do hair and I am also a student so my neck and shoulders could use work as well as my hands and feet. He said alright, asked if I wanted full body then, I agreed, he left the room for me to change and came back a couple of minutes later to start at what I'm assuming (I didn't check my phone before laying on the bed) around 3:15. At 3:56 he claimed "okay that's time! Got any questions?". Now thinking back I should've asked "that was an hour?" but I knew it wasn't. The entire massage felt very rushed, like maybe he was hungry and just wanted to get it over with or maybe he was almost off and I was his last client, I'm not sure. When I said my neck, shoulders, hands, and feet, were problem areas, I had thought a little more time would be spent on those- my soles of my feet were rubbed on for maybe three passes each, my palms barely touched. He did stretch my neck and did some nice pressure points behind my skull, but only for what felt like a minute. When I got dressed after and walked out, he even said "oh that was fast" and sped walked me up front and said have a good day. No water offered (every single massage I have ever been to offers water because of the lactic acid they break up), no double checking everything was okay, no recommendations, nothing. Just a nod of the head. The girls up front asked how everything was and I said "eh fine". She asked what was wrong and I mentioned briefly "it felt rushed and like he had somewhere to be, I don't know if he normally doesn't work on women but it was very odd and not like any massage I have ever had." The gal did give me a coupon for next time and offered to rebook me with someone else but I'm not so sure there will be a next time. I don't fault him for running behind and I know that an hour massage typically is more like 50-55 mins with the consultation and what not before- but I walked out of that salon done, dressed, and paid, before 4pm when my appointment was scheduled for 3. To sum up my long banter, I was really looking forward to this relaxing massage. I have heard excellent things about Massage Envy, and my first impression was great, the girls up front were fantastic, the salon was clean and cozy, the COVID precautions were there, my lasting impression however is not the finest and I'm bummed out about it. read more

I don't even know how to begin except to say I am going to cancel my massage membership with Massage Envy that I have had for at least 5 years due to 2 front desk associates Victoria and Elizabeth. I have NEVER been treated this poorly at a service industry business in my life. I called to transfer a massage to my son for a birthday gift (something I have done many times in the past for our other kids) and both girls were incredibly rude and inconsiderate. I can't believe massage envy would stand for ANY associate speaking to a member in the ways these girls did. I will be not only speaking to all management, but also owners as well. It is already extremely difficult to book appointment s with massage envy due to lack of masseuses so to have rude associates is ridiculous when we pay monthly. Amber C gave me one the best massages I've ever had and gave me real relief-- which I think is what a massage therapist should do. This place is a sham. My appt was at 1:00 I arrived 12:50 - front desk checks me in and assists in completing the online questionnaire. They take me to the "relax" room - double check to see of any specific areas or pain that I needed attention to (although that was part of the online questionnaire.) She said she would let the therapist know. Then another lady comes in and said she called me that and that they had to cancel my appt. I looked at my phone in my hand and said I have no calls. I asked if she left a voice mail and she said yes, but she must have gone dialed a wrong number. Mind you, i received two texts and two emails confirming my appt, one text was TODAY. This is the SECOND appointment with a Massage Envy that has been canceled on me! But getting checked in and go through the whole pre check and then being told it was canceled? there is NO excuse. You can't tell me that the front desk didn't know that the person doing the massage called in sick? I have a gift card that i have been trying to use for a YEAR now. All i can get from ME on appointment times was at 9:00 PM ...really? So i decided to take time off from work for today's appt. i made this appointment 2 weeks ago to find a time that would work for my schedule. My previous time, I made the appt 3 weeks in advance. It is unfortunately that the ME locations are separate franchises. Classy way to avoid the awful customer service that these locations provide. I wasted 40 minutes in driving to get to and from this location. I had a give card I received a year ago and just need it refunded. I will not give this any other chances. Worst ever.....used this girl(will not use her name) that was recommended by the desk girl as a deep tissue specialist. Yea right... All she did was rub across my skin for an hour then she asked me if pressure was ok, i chuckled and told her not at all. So then she just pressed straight down with all her weight trying to make it hurt. What a waste. Also told her the area to focus on was my legs and calfs. 5 mins each gently stroking them. Never even touched my gluts. Will prob cancel my membership after six years if this is the "best" (according to the desk girl) therapist they have for deep tissue. Massage was decent. Service was kind of odd.... front desk was very involved, I would think the massage therapist should ask the questions, not the front desk agent. Additionally, I was asked if I wanted aromatherapy - said sure, why not? She had me breathe in 3 times while something was under my nose, barely smelled anything, definitely did not benefit from it. And then find out as I'm checking out that it cost $10 ? $10 to take 3 deep breaths? Had I known it cost anything, even $1, I would have said no. Nothing worse then companies who try to sneak in additional cost without notifying the client prior to agreeing. Will not be returning for that reason alone. read more

I went to Massage Envy the first time because I had a huge knot in my right shoulder. My chiropractor said a massage might help and my previous therapist was no where to be found. So on my first visit, I was greeted politely, scheduled with a nice massage therapist and got my massage. The therapist was great. When I went to check out and pay, the receptionist told me the cost was $70 unless I got a membership, which then it went down to $40. She duped me into the contract not knowing I "had" to keep it for one year. One week later I found out about a lawsuit involving Massage Envy (please read the lawsuit for explanation). I had 3 massages after this and each time I walked out of Massage Envy with bruises. Even after telling the massage therapist I only wanted a light message. While she was giving me a message I told her it hurt too and she stated "It hurts because your muscles are so tight" HA! Not on my rib cage they aren't! So THREE times I walked out with bruises! I was extremely unhappy and not willing to go through that again. I knew I was going to have trouble getting out the contract, found I no longer had time to squeeze in a massage and met someone who was willing to endorse me to go to massage school. I wrote an "intent to cancel" letter in August 2015 and signed it in front of the receptionist, and explained my situation. She said she would have the manager call me. When the manager finally called, 3 weeks later, she said she was checking in on me. Nothing else. I was charged again ($59.99 per month) in September 2015 and when I called they said they didn't have anything on file and she would need to call her manager. When the receptionist called me back 2 hours later, she said my membership had been canceled, I WOULD NOT be able to use the remaining 6 massages I had already paid for because I was not at the end of my contract (see lawsuit) and she could not refund the $59.99 I was just charged. In closing, if you want a decent massage therapist... keep looking! Do NOT go to Massage Envy! A really good massage therapist does NOT need a contract to get clients. I've learned my lesson and am writing this in the hopes you don't have to experience what I did! read more
