My therapist was pleasant and was really good. I like medium to hard pressure and that's exactly what she did. It was painfully good at times. I really enjoyed the attention to my feet and would have loved an hour of that alone. Like most Yelpers mentioned, the spa is nothing fancy, but gets the job done. Another great find in Gilbert! I've been making the drive from my home to Gilbert several times a week due to my kids' pickleball obsession and the fact that they train near here. When they do so, I typically occupy my time by either watching them play, finding somewhere with wifi to do some work, or running some errands. Not Monday however. It was good... painful but good. As others have said, this place is not a relaxing spa that you go for pampering but more a place that you go deeper body work, etc... Today I went to AJ Reflexology for my first time having reflexology. I found them on Groupon and called to see if there was availability today. They were able to get me in within 15 minutes and said I didn't need to buy the Groupon. The detox foot bath was nice. I struggled to get totally comfortable until they propped the back of the bed, wish I had done that at the start. Then the massage started. I honestly thought reflexology was just the hands and feet, but it was more like a full body massage with clothes on. I asked for medium pressure which was nice except for a few areas that I had to breathe through. Then when my masseuse asked me to turn over I was so surprised when she sat on my back and massaged with her knees. I didn't expect this, it was a great massage though. I almost laughed because I was caught off guard. I left there feeling like a tenderized piece of meat and like I was drunk. That may not sound like a great description, but my muscles felt very loose. The only thing I wished had gone on longer was the foot massage part. I will return. read more

I was meeting a friend here and unfortunately there was lots of construction and it made me 15 minutes late to our appt. I told the guy in the front desk that I wanted a 30 minute appt instead since my friend would be finished before me and not only insisted but assured me that I would get the FULL 60 minutes so I took the 60 minute and sure enough I was CHEATED time on my appt. I brought my friend here a few days ago. We both got the deluxe reflexology massage. This was her first time and she loved it! We were both in the same room and we loved our massages! Both of us like super hard pressure and don't mind them rubbing our butts and adductors. Don't forget that they have a cultural difference and this is how they massage from where they come from. My husband and I have been coming to AJ's for several years and I have never felt violated or molested by them touching me. The place is sanitary and have never used "reused water" from one review. They could have been adding water into the bucket to cool down the other water because they add a blue solution which requires hot water for it to dissolve completely. Also, I have NEVER had any type of theft occur. Expect them to cover your eyes when you are face up. This has been their standard practice for years. If you are worried about theft then don't bring any jewelry, and secure all of your items in a bag. At any point of the massage you can say "too hard of pressure" or "too soft of pressure." At the very end they clasps their hands and gently bang them on your back which makes a clapping noise which indicates that massage is finished. If you're not into getting a REAL deep tissue massage and don't like people touching you on your butt and thighs to get all of your muscles then this is definitely not the place for you. However, I love how they do their massages. Traditional American massages are way too wimpy for me. I also leave a generous tip which is obviously expected. read more

Quite arguably the WORST massage I've gotten in my entire life. Here's why: I got the 60-min Deluxe reflexology massage. They lead you into a room with a makeshift bed and a bucket for your feet - when my therapist walked in with a bag of warm water she took the bucket that had leftover water and poured it into the warm water- The first RED flag . My first instinct was to run, but I powered through thinking this was like any other reflexology place - spartan but good. Boy was I wrong. As we began, I noticed how incredibly light the pressure was, I had to ask my therapist to increase the pressure multiple times to no avail. She laughed at first, told me I was too small and skinny for someone to ask for deep pressure-- Second RED flag. 12 minutes in, my therapist walks away for 8 minutes only to walk in with a pillow and some hot stones. She then proceeds to apply lotion all over my legs and feet- I squirmed the whole time- no pressure was applied at all it just felt like she was applying lotion and tickling my feet. Third RED flag: service not as described. She covered my eyes with a towel while I lay on my back, but I could see she was scratching her arm multiple times while massaging my foot- she had an itch on her arm that she kept scratching. By this time I wanted to cry. Fourth RED flag : she wore two layers of latex gloves which made the massage really weird and her nails kept digging through my skin even with the latex gloves. I however was getting a pedicure next door at prestige and had to wait. So I decided to get a 30 min massage at AJ with Hannah. She was amazing! She asked if the pressure was ok. To be fair the only good part of this experience was that they got us in on time with the three of us. I'm female and had a male masseuse. Typically I'm fine with that but he was VERY aggressive. At times you could hear his hands hitting my body. I have a high tolerance for pain but there was one point during the massage where I was in tears because he was so hard. We didn't get the "Deep Tissue Swedish Massage", just the regular Swedish Massage. I walked away very sore. I also had to adjust the sheet multiple times so that my crotch or bottom wasn't exposed. At the end I felt like the receptionist was trying to trick us into tipping more when we had tipped very generously. They have a sign that says you should "tip 20%-30%". WARNING: THEY STOLE MY WEDDING RING Very bad experience here. I left my expensive wedding ring in the table before the session. During the session, I was as asked to take my shirt off. Due to a previously scheduled (and difficult to reschedule) late morning medical procedure in Phoenix, that I explained to AJ Reflexology owner Angela several days ago, she kindly offered to treat my painful arthritic condition by having me come in well before normal business hours so that I could still make my critical to keep medical appointment. I shared my gratitude with her and let her know this would be a one time request. Early this morning, Angela kindly administered a gentle, but persistent, therapeutic massage that finally, after years of built up pain & tight tension (broken back in a car accident several years ago, made worst by arthritis.) suddenly triggered a sudden pain release which has happened only once before by another therapist 17 years ago in another state. The surprise release of pain was overwhelming and was received with emotional gratitude. My lower back feels incredibly better and I'm so grateful.
