Very disappointing experience. I was charged for an additional month after my membership and went in to cancel because I was traveling for work in January and couldn't attend. I was told my credits would be extended to February. When February arrived, all of my credits were gone, and the manager refused to help or offer any resolution, relying solely on "policy." What made the situation worse was being told, in so many words, that my understanding of the prior conversation was incorrect -- essentially dismissing the communication that had already taken place. There was no effort to make it right, only a rigid stance that nothing could be done. From a customer perspective, it felt like my money was taken without any service being provided in return. The focus seemed to be on keeping the payment rather than honoring what was discussed or ensuring the customer actually received what they paid for. I would strongly caution anyone considering a membership here. Be very careful and get everything in writing, because if something goes wrong, you may be left paying for services you never receive and with little support to resolve it. read more

My massage was on a Friday night and getting a massage was the perfect start to my weekend. I arrived a little bit early to fill out paperwork but the ipad was acting up. The ladies up front were patient and apologetic while remaining professional. We soon figured out the issue (aka it just started working) and I was able to customize my massage even further. Not soon after my therapist came out, introduced herself and we were on our way. My only critique would be since this office relies on wireless devices so much I would suggest that they get a wifi extender or update the front desk devices. Anna reviewed my selections from earlier and confirmed what I wanted to focus on but I also told her to take free reign on if something needed work. She asked if it was alright to do a scalp and face massage and I am SO glad I said yes. She checked in with the pressure and her draping, communication, and overall professionalism was top notch. As someone who doesn't get a lot of time to myself I must admit I had a difficult time relaxing when I first was on the table. Anna helped me so much with that by just doing her thing. I made an appointment 3 weeks ago for a massage that i got for Christmas. I came in for my appointment 1-11-22, and they told me my appointment didn't exist and accused me of taking someone's time slot when i showed them my confirmation email. I asked if there are any other times for me to come within the next week and they told me I can't get an appointment until late March!!!!! This is absolutely ridiculous, do better! My husband called to speak with a manager and was told she wasn't in. Because he spoke sternly the receptionist hung up on him. I came into the location to talk to the manager in person and told her he was hung up on. She said that she heard the whole thing and told the receptionist to hang up because he was "cussing" (he wasn't). So somebody lied to one of us. Either the manager LIED TO MY FACE, or the receptionist LIED to my husband. Was the manager not in or was she standing right there? The reason for calling was because it was the second time I was cancelled on the same day. I felt that if costumers are expected to pay 50% of the massage if they cancel, then the costumer should be entitled to 50% off if they're cancelled on an hour before the appointment. Their cancellation policy is highly hypocritical. I had one last massage I had already paid for a few days after this. There was a detour and I got very lost and didn't make it. I called as soon as I had service to tell them what happened. They still charged me 100% of the massage anyway. So that was a nice little cherry on top. Got a last minute appt with Paul for a massage this weekend. First time I have seen him and it was an excellent massage. I let him know about my tight shoulders and vigorous exercise routine. He listened to what I wanted out of the massage and addressed those issues. I asked for firm pressure and got it. He was professional and gave a full body massage. I will definitely book him again. So nice to get a more therapeutic massage rather than those that just rub around aimlessly with minimal pressure. read more

I've visited this location twice in the past year. I have to begin by saying that the people working the desk have been very cordial and helpful and the massages I've received have been satisfactory. However, the first massage I booked ended up with a no-show on the part of my therapist. I waited for about 30 minutes then the helpful people at the desk said they were going to provide a free massage for me and they needed to reschedule. I was a little inconvenienced, but I appreciated the effort on their part to make things right. The massage I received as a follow up was a good one. Today I went in for a prenatal massage. I was booked at 8am and showed up at 7:53 knowing I had some paper work to fill out. I entered the room around 8:05, spoke to the therapist and disrobed. Since it was a prenatal massage I had to lie on my side, so there were some supportive bolsters on the table. When the therapist came back in the room it was 8:11. She said I was lying on the bolsters wrong ( no explanation was provided) so she left the room for me to adjust. I adjusted quickly, but she didn't come back in until about 8:17. This was meant to be a 1 hr massage. She finished up at 8:53. This was after the last 10 or so minutes of the massage was just her rubbing the same spot in my back repeatedly with what felt like minimal effort. I mentioned this to the desk clerk when I came out to pay. My total "hands on" time was only about 36 minutes. She said I should have had at least 50 minutes of hands on time. This was very disappointing. She provided a new member rate of $55 and I still tipped because I don't want to be difficult, but I won't be visiting this location again. I'd rather drive to another location after the experiences I've had. Hopefully this won't happen to anyone else, although judging by some other reviews I'm not alone in my experience. I genuinely hope they are able to remedy this for future customers. ***Edit : I was contacted by the regional manager via email today with an offer to try services at the same or another location. I appreciate his efforts to keep me as a customer. I will be taking advantage of this and hope to have an improved review in the near future. read more

I've gone here a few months now and I usually go to Deb who is really good but she wasn't available the last two times I called for a next day appt. I went to a girl last time who was okay but she started me late and finished early, which I didn't care for. Today I went to Ashley and she was awesome!! She found all my knots in my back quick and I feel so great after! Probably the best massage I've ever had! The staff is always very friendly and nice! Can't wait till my next appt! read more

If you are looking to throw away your hard-earned money, this is the place for you. They are certainly willing to take your money in good faith but good luck trying to make an appointment in a timely manner. I have always preferred deep massages which were never available for at least a month out -- if they were available at all. The area Massage Envy locations are completely understaffed and will make using your membership very difficult. And guess what? When you can't use your massages in a timely manner, they cancel your membership and take your money. When this happened to me and I complained, they were completely unresponsive and ignored my request for a resolution until I annoyed them into having a manager call me to address my missing money. Her solution was for me to sign up again and renew my membership to get more hours of service -- it was not to fix their poor staffing problem. Her attitude and unwillingness to correct the situation demonstrated a staggering lack of customer service. There are many many places to get a massage in the area. Please don't waste your time and currency with this horrific organization! In my opinion, it appears that this organization is unethical, immoral, disreputable, unfair and downright unfriendly to good paying customers. read more

I had a great massage my first visit and bought a year membership but it went downhill from there. It turns out the one good therapist is nearly impossible to book. The others I saw were mediocre at best. Recently, a service issue developed that I tried to resolve. The staff was unapologetic and the management was unresponsive, leaving me with a very bad impression. There are plenty of other great therapists in the area. I just paid $105 for a mediocre at best experience. My appointment was for 3 PM. I arrived at 2:55 PM, got in the massage room at 3:04 PM, the therapist asked me 1 minute of questions, I quickly ran to the restroom, came back had to wait on her, she then showed me where to hang my things, and she fiddle faddled around the room, left so I could get ready which took all of a minute because I intentionally wore a summer throw on dress and flip flops. I got on the table at 3:08 and she started hands on at 3:10 and was done at 4:00 PM. So she shorted me 10 minutes! Yes, I did time all of this because I had a feeling from the first time there prior that something wan't right. I paid an extra $10 for a sugar scrub to my feet which was short lived as well. They have these iPad looking things they put on the wall to use as the timer but there was a stationary digital clock on the wall as well, cause by the time I got off the table she booked it out the door with her iPad. Just overall a rush type of feeling I got while getting the massage. I didn't want my legs done, specifically noted that and she reiterated that to me and what did I get??? My legs massaged. I said I didn't want deep tissue massage and she had her elbow up and down my spine and in the base of my neck, it hurt so bad I could hardly stand it, I was wincing and clenching my hands, but thank God nothing lasted too long so I just knew it would be over soon, and just sucked it up. When I went to pay the receptionist asked if I wanted to add a gratuity? I said No, because she shorted me 10 minutes and her reply was "Sorry about that but we count 5 minutes for consultation at beginning and 5 minutes at end for you getting dressed. Her consultation was 1 minute and my getting dressed was 30 seconds. So do the math, because I already did. This one place is making a ton of extra money each year just by shorting each customer 10 minutes. Multiply that my all the Massage Envy's around the country. It's a rip off and I will never, ever be back. I hate DECEIT!!!! And will support my local independent massage therapist that charges $50 for a complete 60 minutes and her technique is 100 times better. read more

I had an appointment at 3:30. When I arrived at 3:25, I was told that my appointment was cancelled. They claim that they called and left me a message. However, I did not have any missed calls nor any messages. Why would I waste my time driving there had I received a cancellation? Then it became difficult to rebook. Horrible experience. The enestitician applied steam for less than 2 minutes and plowed an extraction tool into my face leaving a scabbing sore on 2 areas of my face. She never fully cleaned off my make up as I had mascara flakes around my eyes when finished. She seemed more interested in selling me products after the procedure. It was awful. I joined Massage Envy a few months ago. I work in retail management, so I am always stressed. I mean really stressed. I came here on a whim after shopping at the TJ Maxx across the street (great stuff there). I had been to a Massage Envy once before, but never joined. This one had a fairly laid back vibe while still being busy. I had a good massage and a facial. This office was just getting started on facials and they use the Murad line. Great product. I tried a few massage therapists and found one person who is my massage therapist soul-mate. (no I will not tell you her name because then she will be too busy to work on me!) I go there every 2 weeks for an hour massage each time and only pay $100 total a month plus tip. I feel like I won the lottery every time I leave this place. My muscles are all loose and I usually have that I-am-too-relaxed-to-move-quickly gait. The contract is for a year at $59 per month, receiving 1 massage a month. I waited until tonight to leave this review, giving a manager four more days to contact me. I had a membership and recently canceled. The South Park Shops (my home location) was booked, so I scheduled for the first time here. My therapist was very pleasant, and it started out great. I asked for significant focus on my feet during my 90 Min massage because I run. When she got to feet, she was holding them a majority of the time not doing anything else. Then, she'd "jump", I seriously think she was nodding off. I was going to ask if she was ok, but thought maybe it was some technique I was unfamiliar with and it would get better. It didn't. I then asked for more pressure, rather than asking if something was wrong, because I didn't want to be rude. It didn't happen. I was very disappointed and it was the worst massage I've ever had. I told the woman at the counter and she is the only reason, I'm not giving a 1. She was helpful and said she would comp half my message and the manager was in a meeting, but if I wanted she could call me and see what else they could do/discuss. FRAUD! Canceled membership and they have kept putting through my card, which has been declined 5 times by my bank beginning on 3/17. Message Envy tried again overnight and changed the expiration date on my card and put through 2 months worth of charges! This is outright fraud! My spouse bought me a gift card knowing how much I love massages. Over the years I have had many and understand pricing and services. My appt was at 3:00 for which was the time I arrived. After all the paper work and upsell questionnaires were done it was 3:07. I proceeded to my room and met my therapist for which she gave me instructions for disrobing. She returned 8 min later at 3:17 or so. At 3:50 she ended the massage and proceeded to tell me massages are only 50 min... (For which I was not informed). So basically my $50 gift card got me a 30-35 minute massage, That is unacceptable in my book. I used the massage envy website comment section to inform them of my concern and it has been 2 weeks and no response to make it right. The therapist was okay, but Massage Envy at least in McMurray/Peters Twp is definitely not customer focused. There are many choices in my area and will go else where.
