I went to ME in Metuchen. I went for a 90 minute hot stone massage which I paid extra for. The woman I had talked the entire 90 minutes and barely massaged! I couldn't relax because I felt I had to chat with her. She had to keep changing stones , which I understand, but it shouldn't take 5+minutes to do that! It was very disappointing. My massage therapist left the room without telling me the massage was over. As I was putting my clothes on, I observed a Dried Blood Stain on the sheets on the massage table (Photo Attached) I addressed this w Angelica (front receptionist) whom was more bothered that I brought this up to her attention than concerned. As of Mon Jan 6, 2020 I have yet to received a call from manager. They had their chance to address this with me and they failed. Angelica also had Zero idea on how to process my 3 month gift card membership and ended up charging my card even though it's 1 free massage every month and discounted rate after the first one. I went for a 9 AM appointment this morning - 9/29. I was very excited to get a massage and I was extremely disappointed with the woman I got. I have been to her once before and didn't love her but she was good so I decided to give her another try and I was appalled. While she was giving me my massage, SHE WAS EATING!!!! She was constantly stopping in the middle of the massage and eating something that was in a wrapper the entire time. She even burped in the middle of my massage. She was stuffing the wrappers in her apron so when she was leaning against the table I was hearing the wrappers crinkling. I think my toddler could do better ..... Just got done with what was supposed to be a 60 minute massage with a GC for 60$. The good - Front desk was nice enough. I got there early as indicated over the phone to complete paperwork. They asked for specific areas to focus on and medical history, pretty standard. You are ushered over to a "tranquility?" Room but another women was on the phone and no mask. Awesome start. The bad- I was brought back to the room but was left in the room for what felt like 7-10 minutes before the massage even started. There is a clock/timer thing and a picture of a human body that is sectioned off my body parts. I guess this is to keep the masseuse on track? I asked for a small pillow to support my chest as I am still breaSt feeding the the masseuse seemed off-put buy the request so I said a towel would be fine. She must have found a knot in my shoulder but probably spent 15 mins trying to work it out. I said politely that it has been there for a while and not to spend too much time on it... I asked for a full body and she was obsessing on one spot! Still she continued to poke and prod the one spot. Even moving to the other shoulder - she would still poke at it! I've had a few massages in my years and this was definitely the worst. She would only do one circular motion over and over again - didn't even feel good and abruptly move on to a new body part. I had stated I'd like my shoulders and lower back focused on and she didn't even touch my lower back? I kept waiting for her to go back but never happened. She even ended the massage very quick and ran out the door. Is this how they do business? Felt like just a # in a machine. I kept thinking --is this her first day? Is this April fools? -- who pays any amount of money for this? Am I being treated differently because they know I'm partly paying with gift card? I came here to relax after a long week of work and my back was hurting so I called to make an appointment. I was happy they had something for Friday since it was the holiday weekend ( even though I've never been to that location before) I decided to give them a chance. The front desk girl was really sweet and polite. The massage however was nowhere near relaxing. I was 15 mins early and started exactly 4 Pm but the massage was only 45 mins. (Make sure you don't book with Kamil as your masseuse) I was confused on why that happened but I was secretly glad it was over because it was one of the worst massages I've ever gotten EVER! To make matters worse, their system went down as soon as I went out to pay and I waited for at least 15 mins and the girl wrote my credit card number down!! I couldn't be mad at her because that's what she had to do but that just a bad security move especially in today's world. Nonetheless to say, I won't be back. read more

The massage was sub-par, but what was worse was the front desk help. I called earlier in the week to book a massage- after being placed on hold for a good 10mins. I think the girls on the phone shove marbles in their mouth before talking? I can't understand a word they say. And the manager in charge is, ahem, not pleasant. Hindsight is 20/20... Probably the worst massage I've had. The massage therapist was clearly sick, and she sniffled her nose and chomped on her gum throughout my appointment. On Friday August 30th I stopped into the Massage Envy in Metuchen. My back and neck were hurting and thought a massage would help. The girl at the desk told me there was no one available until 2pm and it was for a chair massage. She said that should help with my problem. It was 1pm. So I told her I would be back. When I got there she had not arrived. I was asked to fill out a medical form. I waited for several minutes. Finally after 10 minutes she came in. She did not look professional. She did not introduce herself, did not ask my name and did not even look at my chart. She brought me to a dark, dreary room where the chair was. She asked me to sit. I had a dress on and she started to massage my back. I asked her if there was anything I could cover my hair with knowing they do facials there. She brought me a small used towel and I refused it. She started her massage over my clothes with no cream. I told her to stop and that I was leaving. I went to the front desk, the girl was not surprised an told me I would not be charged. Then she asked if I would like the manager to call me. I said yes. She did not call. There is one more thing I should mention. There never seems to be anyone available even to make an appointment. I remember that I had a difficult time trying to get an appointment a few years ago. I had to go somewhere else. Something is very strange about this salon. Let me begin by saying that no matter what, you should 100% listen to the previous reviews about this establishment. To say my experience here was horrible would not begin to explain how it truly was. I am currently disabled and 100% reliant upon crutches to move around. I walked about the entrance doors of this place and the secretary who could clearly see me struggle to open the doors with my crutches did not even bother to get up to help me. She preceded to make a face the entire time once I told her my name and my appointment time. After using the restroom I came back to the front, and sat myself down on the only chair I could see, the moment I sat down , she said "Oh you can go sit over there" , so here I am having to get back up with my crutches , OPEN another door without her help or concern and proceed to go to the other room. Once there, no came to me with a tablet allowing me to personalize my massage. The person who was in charge of doing my massage did not come in until 10 min after 4, my scheduled appointment time. Then after she came to get me and dropped me off into my room, she left again for another 5 minutes. She was talking a lot in the beginning giving out a lot of personal information , but I thought this would only be temporary , and that once the massage started she would stop. NOPE, she kept talking very loudly throughout the entire massage about her entire life story . I gave obvious looks of discomfort and tried to show that I just wanted a quiet relaxing massage but to no avail. I was counting down the minutes for this entire thing to be over. She was very unprofessional, the entire massage she had her shoes off! I was looking down at her socks for most of it. There were also noises from the surrounding stores so I could hear shouts and screams , things falling, and smell the odd smells from the waxing place next door. Also throughout the entire massage while she was talking about her self she tried selling a bunch of different things that Massage envy offers. It felt as if you were at a sales pitch not a massage. The entire massage did not even last for an hour! I got in at 4:15 and the massage ended by 4:55. After the entire thing was over , I walked back out to get to the front doors, the secretary did not even ask how my experience was , judged me for the low tip, but still generous, amount I gave and then preceded to STARE at me AGAIN as I struggled to open the door with my crutches to get out of the place. NEVER TAKE MEMBERSHIP. You will not be able to cancel it. If you call to cancel , you will hear "only manager can cancel and manager is not available". At store they never tell you that its a 1 year commitment and only cancellations options are doctors note or you move 25 miles away. Though i am not sure even that will help. read more

Horrible massage and dishonest. Both my mom and I had gift cards for one hour massages. We showed up 4 mins past our appointment (1:04pm). They asked us to complete forms which took a few minutes. By the time we got into the room, it was 1:12 mins. The massage felt very rushed and not relaxing. When the masseuse told me he was done, I looked at the clock and it wasn't even 2pm. This place is absolutely clean as well as well maintained. There is always someone willing to help which is very rare in different places. I went in for a 90-minute massage which was absolutely astounding. From the moment I walked in I just felt like I was being pampered and it took me away from all the stress that I felt before I came in. I want to be honest I was a little nervous about the checkout part because that's usually where the stress begin but the girls upfront were very efficient as well as informative. I am very disappointed with Massage Envy right now. In may, my son and husband purchased a 3 month massage package (3 massages) from the Metuchen, NJ location that expire in August. I've tried making appointments numerous times only to find out that they are booked up or closing early. I just called today to check on this package and make an appointment, and they told me that it expired 10 days ago. No reminder emails or phone calls. When i told the girl that I've been trying to making appointments and could never get one she said that she was sorry. I asked if they could accommodate me since it just expired she said no exceptions. If they would hire enough therapists I would have used it within the time frame. Also, they really need to send expiration reminders. They did have my phone number and email address. I am not happy at all and can not recommend your company to friends and family in good faith. read more

I called to schedule an appointment back around March to redeem a gift certificate. The female who answered the phone was abrupt but that didn't bother me as much as what followed. I gave her my gift certificate # and she said it wasn't working and that it happens a lot with their system. I offered her other #'s that appeared on the receipt because I had a copy. She insisted that i give her a credit card number or she couldn't book the appointment. Because of her attitude i felt uncomfortable giving her my credit card# and also because she acknowledged that their system is flawed. I told her i would think about it and call back, to which she responded "well I can't book or hold this appointment without the card#." I decided not to call back and instead try a different location because she was rude and it made a bad first impression. the kicker is that she called me on the day I tried to book the couples massage for and rudely said " you didn't show up and we have a fee for no shows." I said " I am not a no show, you refused to book it because your gift certificate # wasn't working, you told me clearly I was not booked." She insisted that she could waive the fee this time only and i would have to pay next time." I responded,"you are not waving anything, you are not doing me a favor, you are not entitled to a fee for a massage you refused to book." She kept repeating, "i'll waive it just this time !" She was so rude I couldn't believe this was allowed.
