I'm not going to lie, I had very low expectations for Massage Envy just knowing they're a chain spa and from the previous negative reviews I read. But, hey! I had a great experience, so why not give credit where credit is due?! My husband booked me an hour massage with Tammy after a few stressful weeks of work, life, etc. Again, a little skeptical of a chain spa company, but I was all in for an hour of relaxation. Massage Envy was great about texting me to confirm my time, and I immediately felt welcomed and cozy when I walked in. The girl behind the counter checked me in and went over the areas I'd like my masseuse to focus/avoid. Tammy then came and got me and introduced herself. She instantly made me feel comfortable and relaxed. The only thing I worried about was that I'd fall asleep and she'd hear me snoring! The hour went by wayyyy too fast, but I enjoyed every second of it. On the way out, the receptionist gave me their spiel on signing up for membership, but they weren't pushy or mean about it. I decided not to purchase a membership for now, but I would definitely come back to Tammy for another massage in the future! read more

I'm not exactly sure why this location has such bad reviews, but I had a good experience here. Arrived for my first massage 15 minutes early, the front desk lady asked me a few questions, then my massage therapist took me to the room shortly after. The rooms are a bit chilly but the table is heated so it makes for a nice balance. The massage therapist left when I got dressed and undressed. There are envelopes in the massage room so you can tip the MT without awkwardly handing it to them, or leaving it at the front desk (I left the top when he stepped out). Luke is great. read more

I'm really sad because I am not hard to please when it comes to massages. I had Sheena and it really just felt like she rubbed baby oil on me for the whole 90 minutes. It sucks because I was really looking forward to this massage. I asked her for firmer pressure probably about five times. The manager, Alexis Saunders was very rude to me and passive aggressive in tone after my appointment was cancelled after the card on file did not process payment. I did NOT receive notice that my appt was cancelled. I came in to the facility ready to provide a new card on file (old card was lost) but when I tried to explain to Alexis Saunders that I was prepared to provide a new card, she stated there was nothing she could do to help. She did not offer to reschedule my appointment or make it right in any way. How do you cancel someone's appointment without notice and then when they're prepared to provide a new card, you state "there's nothing I can do"? This manager was nasty, unprofessional and passively aggressive. My condolences to those that have to tolerate her behavior. I chose to cancel my membership as a result of Alexis Saunders. read more

I had never been to a Massage Envy. I was gifted 2 gift cards. I walked into the spa to learn that they really want to become a member. I chose to have a basic facial. I did not use the full amount of my cards, so I scheduled a microdermabrsion with the same esthetician about a month later. I went in today for my appointment for my microdermabrsion. I did not learn that my appointment was change to a basic facial until on the table and facial was started. Yes I had to pay for the damn facial and will not recieve any discount for the microdermabrsion if I chose to schedule. Since I do not want to become a member, that woud cost me $180. And one of my gift cards had $10 remaining on it, but their system said it was 0 balance. So if you use a gift card make sure to use the total balance in one use. If they are going to have you looking up to the ceiling dring your service, you would think they would clean the vents. The vent has layers of dust, you can see a family of dust bunnies. Expecially during this pandemic, you would think clean vents would be a priority. I feel like I was scammed. read more

Massage was great. I get a lot of massages and usually they are decent at best at massage envy but jasmine at this location is awesome! Front desk staff will harass you about a membership. Not everyone has $800 to pay a year for a monthly decent massage.... but they don't seem to understand this. I usually spend more than this anyways but the last thing I want to do is to have a monthly bill for a shitty massage chain. I'd give this place 4-5 stars for the convenience if it wasn't for the anxiety I have about having having to defend my payment decision after I'm nice and relaxed. read more

Booked an appointment the day before online and received the confirmation and everything. Showed up 15 minutes early as recommended for first time customers to fill out necessary paperwork, just to find out they couldn't take me because of a glitch in their system and them double booking the 1:00pm slot. The front office staff really weren't apologetic or anything even though I took time off of work to get a massage. They only said "here's corporate's number if you want", no "I'm sorry" "let me see what I can do".....nothing. I understand these things happen but some empathy would've been nice. DON'T USE MASSAGE ENVY- Ibrought a gift card from them during the Christmas holidays and gifted my husband with a full massage. He redeemed it on 4/18 and when they checked him out he was told that he owed them an additional $10. When I purchased the gift card, I was told that it was for a full massage, nothing was said that if their prices increase that you would have to pay the increase. I feel that the service should be honored at the price it was on the day I purchased the gift card. I contacted them about the additional fee and was told by their manager that there was nothing she could do and that the price of their massages had increased. This is not how you do business and I'm very upset that I gave someone a gift and that they were charged additional fees to use it. I disputed the additional fee and requested that the funds be returned to my husband. I also will no longer do any business with this company since they have such unethical policies. They can close all account associated with us for we will never patronize them again. I only gave them a one star because that's the lowest possible, they deserve a zero!!! read more

I been to this location twice with Shon being my therapist. I've had a number of massages by several therapists at other ME's and other places and Shon just blew me away! His technique is unlike any I've experienced. He is very professional and made me feel comfortable the entire time both times. I'm not a member but I've been to this location several times and this has been my worst experience! First when I made the appointment they told me 2x to make sure I was there 15 min early and they said it again when they called to confirm. My appointment was at 7pm and I arrived at 6:43pm. At 7:15pm, I went out to the reception desk and asked what was going on and why was I still waiting. Come to find out they never told the therapist I was there. Overall the massage was just decent, but nothing to write home about. I'm kinda disappointed with the whole experience and I hope this was just a one off situation. read more

I presented the front staff with documentation and was ensured that I could transfer or used THREE paid visits. It was noted on my account and when it was time to use them we were denied service. I spoke to the office manager after several phone attempts to be told that the staff member did make notication but was no longer employed there and I would not be reimbursed OR be able to use the THREE paid services. It was the scalp only because I didn't want the oil in my hair because I had places to go after and that my massage time was 45 mins instead of 60. The last three massage therapists I've had work on places I said no to in my preference sheet. Today, my therapist was fifteen minutes late. I did their facial service for 3 months and had developed acnes because of their pathetic products. post acne, i have acne scars now that dont go away with any sort of treatments. Unfriendly astheticians, pathetic service. they just mint money by selling their products. worst worst nightmare i had 5 months back. when i tried to cancel my membership, i was told its a clause that the membership is mandatory for one year. beware of that clause if you are going to sign the membership. i am paying $80 per month now till october this year t for not availing any service. such low standards of service and customer interaction. one of the worst place on earth. OMG! This location is one of the worst ME's I've been serviced at. You try to call the establishment and NO ONE EVER ANSWERS and if you leave a message it is never returned. I spoke with a front desk rep the other day and told them that because of my emergency surgery I had back in April and the amount of my hospital bills (that are still rolling in by the way) that my year contract won't be up until February, since I did a 6 month suspension. I told them that I will not be able to pay them and that the card they have on file will be declined because I used the remainder of that money to go towards some of my hospital balance. So then they told me to have my doctor's office fax them a statement saying I can no longer continue my services with them because of financial hardship. I'm just so over ME altogether! read more

My rating is not a reflection on the Massage Therapist at this location, but a rating of the office managers and the company as a whole. I signed up for membership after my son purchased me a gift card for my birthday. My schedule didn't allow for me to visit at least once a month and when I reached the end of my 1 year contract I had a visit that I transferred to my husband. My husband decided to sign up for his own contract and provided his credit card information when he signed up. When his bank changed the card number this location decided they would revert back to charging my card without my permission/consent. A notice was never sent to my husband, instead they charged my FSA card for 6 months worth of visits all at once. REALLY PROFESSIONAL - NOT!!!!!!!!!!! I've been a member for about 4 mos so thought it about time to do my review. My first intro massage was with Walter. He was so good that I joined. I had previously been a member (for a whopping one month!) at Elements Dillworth. Basically I joined them, and the next month they shut down. That is shady shady shady, but I wasn't out any money. I try and shop local when I can. Anyways...enter Massage Envy. They are close to my house..win. And like I said my intro massage was excellent. My next massage was with a therapist I don't remember. That tells you something. Walter, while excellent, his hours don't jive with my schedule. The 2nd massage was wasted money. It felt good but the pressure was all wrong, way too light. The therapist didn't ask if pressure was OK and I just kinda rolled with it. I knew I wasn't going to re-book with her. I left an honest review via their automated surveys - and here's where they excel. I received a call from the manager in response to my feedback. She took in my comments and responded appropriately. She also worked with me to find a therapist who has hours that work with my schedule and does the kind of massages (ie therapeutic). Tekila (like the drink) is awesome. She has done my last 5 or 6 massages. I find the services to be affordable and so far I'm a fan. To be fair I haven't tried to cancel a membership, and too be honest I probably won't. I am currently 23weeks pregnant and had booked a prenatal massage for 90mins at 06 30 Pm et.i was asked to come by 06 15 but I was delayed in office and traffic and reached by 06 35Et. I was never told that if I arrive late ,the lost time will be cut off from my massage time ,by the time I completed paper work I lost 30mins and was given only 60mins massage out of 90 mins..out of ignorance I asked about it and they are very rude in their reply and started arguing that they informed about it which they never did. I have gone to several Massage Envy's and I have found this to be typical. I don't know what the deal is with the management whether they make it a policy to start late and end early or what the deal is however this happens every time with this place. This was my second time going to this location because I like the Massage Therapist. She is very good. They tried to sign me up and I did all the paperwork. Once I got home, I changed my mind and call them saying that I was not going to sign up and please cancel my membership. The person that answered the phone said that was fine. 3 months later, I just got a call from them that they couldn't get the fund from my credit card (good thing it was lost so it was cancelled.) They asked me if I signed any cancellation paperwork. I said no because there was none offered via phone. She said she will check and have someone get back to me. I wish there was better communication. Not sure how it is going to turn out but I want this out there so other can be more careful. I would still use them because I like the therapist but this certainly is making me think. As far as the place, it is a place to get a massage, nothing else. Take it as it is, nothing more. Do not use this spa. They do not honor contracts. I had planned a wedding-related outing for 14 ladies (many out of town guests). I was told twice that the spa was reserved for our party by April Rowen over the phone. Then they cancelled my entire event via EMAIL. Their excuse was that I didn't confirm the guest list fast enough, although I responded to the email in under 48 hours. I was also accused of not paying a credit card deposit. Since it was my first time my massage was suppose to be a lot cheaper ($55) and the two women at the desk said that promotion ended yesterday so I was charged $95. Yesterday was July 1st by the way? Doesn't make sense... I pulled up the website and mentioned it states it on there an intro massage along with the price and they said they had no way to fix it even if the website said that. Went online to make an appt. The site doesn't indicate what's available and what's not. So you have to select a time out of thin air. Then you get an email saying they will contact you. Then hours pass and they don't. Then you call them. And they don't answer the phone. And then they don't return your voicemail. And then you wonder why you wasted a whole day waiting to confirm an appointment when you should have just called someone else that actually would have appreciated your business. And then some employee probably writes some generic comment on your Yelp review stating "we're sorry, please call us..." Today we get a phone call for our Saturday appointment in three days that my husband's therapist is no longer working with them and they cannot find him another. Let me start by saying this is not my "home" ME - my "home" location is at East Arbors where you can never get an appointment if you work normal 8 - 5 hours because they rarely have any appointments available and when they do, they call and cancel because their therapist is going to be out sick all week - it's happened several times. So, after getting the run around for several months at East Arbors, I was told to call and schedule my appointments at Northlake - btw, they were really quick to charge my card $10 to transfer a session to my daughter (which I now find out is not refundable). I called, scheduled my appointments with Northlake and confirmed the date and time with the receptionist several times. Imagine my surprise when my daughter and I show up 15 minutes prior to our appointment time only to find out that she's booked it on the wrong day. No offer was made to try to find another appointment time and, of course, my fees can't be refunded. This company is a scam! Don't waste your money - they'll get you in for an initial massage or facial with a decent therapist and suck you into a year contract (which you also have to go back into one of their locations and cancel 10 days prior to the contract end date or it automatically renews) and then they'll never have time to squeeze you in again. read more

Here's the letter I tried to send to corporate, but there is virtually no contact info to find for Massage Envy corporate. In fact, they tell you that if you have complaints, to contact the local location--as if you aren't doing that already. This went to the email address you get if you want more info on setting up a franchise. "I am cancelling my membership due to the most ridiculous charge that I have ever gotten. I've been a member for 18 months. I booked an appointment at 9:45 this morning for noon today, and, due to a doctor's appointment running over two hours (obviously unexpectedly), I had to cancel my appointment. I found out that same-day cancellations require a $20 charge. I asked, "Even though I booked the appointment 2 hours ago?" Yes. Apparently so. Seriously? How many calls did they get for an appointment over 2 hours during the same timeslot on a workday?? And, now I find out that there is NO WAY to contact corporate to give customer service feedback--no phone number, no email, no nothing. How do you expect to maintain the integrity of your brand, if you don't allow consumers to contact corporate to give feedback on individal franchises? Must be nice to work at corporate and hide behind a brick wall, thinking that everything is going just fine out there. I am just irrate. And next, this is the best, you have to physically go into the location to cancel your membership. How wonderfully CONVENIENT!! I have to say that I've always received great massages and facials for the last 18 months, but pulling back the curtain on your policies is scary. Due to one cancellation for an appointment two hours after the appointment is made, there is no forgiveness. This place is ridiculous. Not only is it tough to get an appointment, but they don't honor them. I set my husband up with an appointment; requested and confirmed it would be a female masseuse. It wasn't. It was a male and my husband was super uncomfortable but did not speak up because he didn't want to cost the guy business. I should have listened to past reviews. Additionally, I signed up for a package for multiple massages, paid for them. Then I tried to use my last one and "it expired last month, this was explained when you signed up". Ummm no it wasn't, because I wouldn't have bought a package then. So basically I bit $120 worth of massages. Why would something you pay for expire. Makes zero sense!!!!!!
