Unfortunately, the massage therapist I prefer is hardly available. I have to scoop up time immediately each month - otherwise I'm out of luck. I received a cancelation hours before my massage that my massage therapist called out. I called to figure out when to rebook. Unfortunately, the person working the desk, Reba just wasn't up to par with trying to figure out a game plan. It was clear she had a chip on her shoulder and was giving attitude. I asked about scheduling, she seemed bothered. I asked about general availability, she seemed bothered. I decided to cancel the membership because I am not reaping the benefits they sold to me. She was challenging me on their process, which made the cancelation even more rewarding. I am tired of dealing with this location. They're awful. Good riddance. read more

Well hands-down I miss the Plainfield location so much, the whole atmosphere is so spa lIke compared to my new location. Plainfield makes every session special and I sure missed it. I have been going to Envy for several years now. I started going to this location after we moved to IL just over a year ago. I see Heather regularly and love her to pieces. I have some real muscle issues that cause migraines, Heather (and a handful of other massage therapists in MN and VA) have helped me avoid medication for my migraines and I couldn't be more thankful. Note: this is not a promise they make but for me it works. I love the options to upgrade; aroma therapy if I have nasal issues going on, foot scrub when my feet are killing me, deep tissue treatment when my shoulders are extra tight. If I have to miss a month or I am extra stressed I will opt for 90 minutes or a hot stone massage. I don't do it every time but I really like the option. read more

I have been a member for a long time. As with every place, some therapists are great, some are just ok. My issue is with scheduling once you find a good therapist. I have accumulated 12 massages because of difficulty scheduling. And if I cancel I lose the massages, they should let you use your massages you've paid for when you cancel membership. This Massage Envy was friendly and professional. My husband and I each got an appointment at the same time with short notice. My therapist was Darren. I have had over a hundred massages in my lifetime and this may have been one of the most therapeutic. He truly listened to what I was looking for in a massage and was able to use his hands to diagnose the issues. It was therapeutic and very successful for my aches and pains. I joined member for about 2 years and have running in multiple problems. The so called member benefits, actually is nightmare and trouble. Front desk and management has no knowledge in the system and provided false information. If you are using your monthly paid service, Maybe you will be fine. But if you have credit accumulated and you will have problems as staff can't figure out if you have credit or not. I was told have credit and after I went for massage the front desk told me I have to pay for it cause I have no credit left. Then when I called the next day I was told I still have credit. This has happened multiple times at different locations not just Plainfield location. Massage therapists are great. I have no problem with the massage service. read more

I have been a member of massage Envy for a few years now and have always had a good experience. My regular person is Renee and she is awesome. When I tried to get in with Renee she had nothing available so I went with Shea and I have to say I was not pleased at all. she didn't focus on my shoulders which is what I requested. she spent 20 minutes going up & down my back very slowly no real massage. I also felt like there wasn't enough lotion being used. so now 1 day later I was rubbing my back and felt a scratch so I had my mother look and she said there were several scratches so it wasn't the lack of lotion but her hands were very dry or rough. when I call and spoke top a manager they were not willing to give me my session back on my account. and said she never heard of anyone stating the therapist hands were rough. I will never go with anyone else besides Renee she's my girl. read more

After speaking with Anne, they were able to extend the expiration date of my unused massages (of which I have 5) for another 6 months if I were to pay a one time fee of $59.99. Amazing establishment!! I visited monthly during my pregnancy and was so relaxed and comfortable. Staff is so welcoming and the place is pristine. Never pushy, always smiling and on time. I'm always hesitant to go to a new place/try a new massage therapist, so when I made my first appointment at Massage Envy Plainfield, I was cautiously optimistic that I would have a positive experience. I am happy to report that I had an AMAZING MASSAGE. My therapist was Renee, and she is hands down one of the best, if not THE best massage therapist I've ever had (and believe me, I've had more than my fair share of massages). It was immediately clear that she has extensive knowledge of the human body's muscular system, and was able to discern what type of therapeutic treatment I needed based on her assessment of my "problem areas". She is also a skilled and gifted therapist, and was excellent at working out the tension, knots, and muscle aches and pains I was experiencing. In addition to all of that, she was friendly and professional, and I could tell that she has a genuine passion for her career and ensuring genuine results and a positive experience for her clients. I will absolutely request her for each and every appointment. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that I'm, in principle, not a fan of "membership-type" service providers. This was not, at all, a fault of this location (it was clean, modern and comfortable) or the staff/my therapist. In fact, I would give everyone I encountered 5+ stars. However, the corporate nature of this chain kind "forces" you into a membership to reap the benefits it has to offer. In order to avoid a membership application fee, (which was the price of a massage in and of itself), I had to sign up for a 12-month membership rather than a 6-month membership. A nice incentive to pay the whole year ($65 x 12 = $780) up front was that I received $150 in vouchers I can use throughout the year for "add-on services" (such as hot stone massage, aromatherapy, exfoliation treatments, extra time) so I opted to pay up-front (I had a gift certificate from Christmas for a large chunk of it). However, the thing I like least, is that the one-hour massage is actually only 50 minutes. The other 10 is for the consultation with your therapist/dressing. So, in reality, you're paying $65 for a 50 minute massage. You can find better deals at a number of other spas, especially with Groupons or other specials. Therefore, despite the fact that Renee is amazing, unless I receive a gift certificate to pay for a large portion of the membership fees next Christmas, it is unlikely I'll renew after my year expires. read more

I allowed my girlfriend to use my credit card in August to get a massage at Massage Envy. That is the only time she was in Massage Envy. I checked my credit card statement months later and saw Massage Envy was charging me $59.99 monthly. I called, they stated she signed up for a monthly membership. I stated that it is my credit card and I never signed a contract for a monthly membership. I asked them to cancel. They initially refused. I filed a complaint with BBB, at that point Massage Envy said they cancelled the membership. This was a lie. They charged my credit card again on 01/03/17. They are defrauding consumers. They refuse to issue a refund and continue to charge my credit card. read more

My wife and I have been to massage envy just a few times and had a great impression of this location, and really enjoyed their services. Last November we purchased some massages in advance, or so we thought, but it turned out that it was actually a three month membership that expired at the end of the three months. We weren't aware and don't remember them telling us of the expiration, if they did, neither one of us remembers otherwise we would have used the services within the three months. I called today to verify how many massages we had left and that's when I discovered that the "membership" had expired. I asked the receptionist if we could still take advantage of some of what we paid for(almost $200) and she stated there was nothing she could do. I of course asked to speak with a manager and she stated that she was the manager and that she couldn't do anything For me. I am disappointed that a "manager" is not willing to work with a customer who paid for a service they received. read more

I am very disappointed with this company, I had transferred my massages to another family member and canceled my account "or so I was told". No payments have been withdrawn from my account for almost 5 months, now all the sudden there is a $200 withdraw from my bank account. I called Massage Envy quickly and was told that they had been trying to contact me and gave me some number which was not mine that they had tried "to contact several times". I feel taken advantage of and so far I feel like I have gotten the run around. Companies should want to keep clients by customer service not charging large amounts of funds 5 months later. I will not be recommending services for this company. After receiving no phone calls to even authorize this absurd amount I am left with a foul taste in my mouth. Not a great place for prenatal massage. They don't have an adjustable table, so I was on my side uncomfortable the whole time trying not to fall off the table. The masseuse just gave a generic massage without specially addressing the trouble spots we talked about. I arrived early as requested to fill out paper work, but was still made to wait 30 minutes. Because they were running behind, they shaved 15 minutes off the massage. The massage was a gift from a friend and I was glad I didn't pay for it. I slipped out to avoid the sales pitch. read more

My boyfriend surprised me with a facial which was your chest, shoulders and up and a couples massage for my birthday. The facial was soo relaxing and my face felt so nice and hydrated when I was done. It including a wonderful face massage and also a good 5-10 min arm / hand massage and she got my neck and back too while my masks where on and she explained everything she was doing and gave me knowledgeable tips on my skin type. Then I had Steve for our couples massage and I heard that he was one of the best AND HE SURE IT!!! He has magical hands and listened when I told him I was on my feet all day so my legs where achey and he gave me a good 15 min massage on each leg and foot, front and back. I also mentioned my shoulders and neck where always achey and man oh man did he put in work!! My whole body felt like there where angels singing around me when he was finished! Booking the appointment for my sister and myself via phone was easy. As many people will not use a male therapist, they failed to ask if it was okay to use a male therapist (all the other establishments always mention this fact when booking); luckily, they told me the therapists names and one was obviously a male. That wouldn't have worked with my sister, so we had to switch appointments. My sister and I had a 4pm appointment and were to arrive at 3:45pm to fill out paperwork. We were getting their introductory 1 hour massage at $49.99 with an add-on $10 sugar foot scrub. Now, I've had literally hundreds of massages before this experience with Massage Envy, using all different establishments from all over the country. Due to a mix up in locations when booking the appointment which was straightened out via phone while on the road, we ended up arriving shortly after 4pm (about 4:05 by time it was our turn up at reception). We both filled out the paperwork in less than 2 minutes, but had to wait another 10 minutes for our therapists to be ready for us (?). The therapist spoke with me prior to the massage starting (which is normal), but we spoke for way too long with repeated conversation. Typically, a therapist leaves the room and gives you about 2 minutes to disrobe and get on the table before knocking on the door to come in and begin your massage. I laid on the table waiting so long I began wondering what was going on. The massage table was very comfortable, heated perfectly, with clean, soft sheets and mattress pad. The head rest was broken and made distracting noises when being massaged. The room was basic, dull, no ambiance at all (which was surprising based on the nice reception area), the music seemed to come from a loud speaker for the entire place and was so soft that I could hardly hear it (so I wasn't able to request the volume lowered or turned up or music changed, which was weird as this is a basic at every place). The massage started great, working on my troubled shoulders. But then the rest of my body was pretty much skimmed over. Literally, my legs got about 20 seconds each, and an entire arm didn't get even touched at all. The $10 sugar foot scrub ended up being your feet wrapped in super hot damp towels (like, burning, get the towels off me now. And I like really warm/hot, but this was like McDonald's coffee scalding hot), but once they cooled off to a good temperature, it was really nice. The scrub part was an utter joke though. Using about the amount of scrub it would take to do your big toe, they attempted to smear this over my entire foot (and dry)-obviously, it wasn't enough to do anything so there wasn't any "scrubbing" going on at all and it didn't even last as long as it would take to put lotion on your foot before it was being wiped off. When the massage was finished, I noticed there were little plastic containers with lids (the kind restaurants put condiments in when you order food to go) on the table which had a sign "Sugar Scrub" above them that contained about a nickel-sized amount of scrub in each container. (Hmmm, maybe not even enough for my big toe.) The clock indicated 4:49 when I walked out the massage room door. If I had gotten an hour massage, it should have lasted until 5:25 (or 5:20 since I was 5 min late, or generously 5:15 with paperwork). Many spas do this scam though-say you get a 1 hour massage, but then deduct the 1 to 3 min chat at the beginning and your disrobing and re-dressing times from the hour, so you end up getting only a 50-55 min massage. But this experience was a joke. I think the therapist had to follow the establishment's scams. It's like they were giving you a discount on the price, and stretching out all the empty time so you only got services worth the amount you were paying-and deducted their late time from my paid time. After the massage, the receptionist hands you a paper with your "treatment" plan on it and tries hard to book more appointments with you (my treatment was once per month and my sister's was every two weeks), and they really try hard to get you to join their monthly membership club. I would never go to this place again for numerous reasons. Out of the approximately 40 different establishments that I have had massages at, this is the second to the worst. To make it even worse, in the car afterwards, my sister said that her therapist told her that she had a troubled area that really needed a deeper massage and for $3 more she could work into it more. What?!? My therapist had 2 years experience and was okay (on a scale of 1-5, I'd give him a 3.5 for the real massage he did give me on my shoulders; his pressure was perfect and consistent and he adapted easily); this was my sister's second massage she's ever gotten and she really liked her therapist that had 9 years (if I recall correctly) of experience. read more
