The friend who recommended ME told me that the quality of providers varied greatly and I should have listened. Her recommendation wasn't available for a few weeks so I booked with the person who was and alas, this treatment could not be called a massage. It could be considered a light application of oil to a few body parts, with lots of time spent adjusting the sheets and the table height. Also my therapist left me on the table for 8 minutes while she went to get several drinks so my session started late and ended early, which was fine because it was a terrible experience. Our story: First thing when I get there is the "masseuse" tells me not to sit in the massage table (that had a blanket draped over it with a sheet below it) because, as he said "this is against Health Dept. Violations". Where the hell is a person getting a massage supposed to sit? In other words the masseuse was basically a rude little nerdy dope giving me the big brother power trip routine. Bizarre. Then, the massage was mediocre, at best. It's true, you do get what you paid for! If you go cheap, cheap is what you get. This appears to be the place where the beginner or low end masseuses can get a job at minimum wage. They rely on tips. Speaking of tips, here's a scam they pulled on my wife. She placed the $20 tip in an envelope on the massage table and told "Eliza" (her masseuse) that the tip was on the table on the envelope that they shove in your face. This "Eliza" acknowledged that she got the tip. A few days later their office calls my wife and tells her that she forgot to leave a tip and they asked if they can charge her credit card to leave one for Eliza. SAY WHAT! So, here's the scam as far as I can interpret it: the masseuse tells the office desk (YOU) that you did not leave a tip. Meanwhile, she DOES have the tip and pockets it. Then, the office calls the client and attempts to get the client to authorize them to charge the client's credit card for more money. What else are we to think? When was the last time you had a business call you back to tell you that your waiter said you did not leave a tip and ask to charge your card again. WHAT THE HELL?! So, if you go here for a low end massage, pay by credit card and INCLUDE the tip on the charge card at your checkout when you pay. And make 100% sure that you know that the manager knows that you left a tip and the exact amount. Ridiculous? Yes, I agree. Therefore, avoid this place!!!!!!!!!!!! There are thousands of masseuses in Santa Fe that charge the same and give outstanding service. read more

This is the worst massage I've ever had, bar none. On the questionnaire they make you fill out, I noted what areas hurt, and also mentioned that I like it when a therapist actually LISTENS to what areas I want worked on. I've been moving for the past month (long process) and a good long massage sounded wonderful. The therapist spent close to a full hour of my 90 minute massage on the same four-inch strip of my upper back between my shoulder blades. I'll be very surprised if I don't end up with bruises. I almost ended the session several times, but then he'd put a hot towel on my feet (and give them a few half-hearted squeezes) or my back, so I'd get hopeful that a change up was coming. When it was finally (thankfully) time to turn over, I could barely move because my shoulders were so tight from tension from the pain, and my lower back almost went into spasms. Evidently he didn't know how to address any other parts of my body that I had listed, like hands, feet, arms, shoulders, legs or LOWER back. Never returning - not for discounts or a different therapist. While the session was going, I heard several loud voices, slamming doors, etc. The net effect of the hot towels on my feet was to leave the sheet cold and clammy on my feet when they were covered. This place needs to hire professional, trained therapists, and learn proper massage area etiquette. read more

I love this place! I am on an extended visit to Santa Fe and I managed to hurt my back shortly before getting here. On my second day in town, I limped into Massage Envy and had Brenda work on me. She is amazing. From the first touch, it was clear Brenda knew what she was doing. She worked my painful areas with a firm touch but not so much that it just added to the pain. She understood when it was time to press and when to soothe, and I walked away from the first visit feeling more human than I had for a while. I've now had 3 additional sessions with her, and each has been better than the last. I wish she could move to California! In fact, everyone here is quite warm and welcoming, particularly Kaylynn the receptionist. She remembers my name when I walk in, and she seems to take a genuine interest in me as a person (she actually seems to WANT an answer to the obligatory "how are you?" question! Lol) I also appreciate that this location recognizes my out of state membership (apparently, not all of them do). It was so easy to step in and have all my information available with little fuss. I've been a client of massage envy for a few years. I've had many different types of massages, but my favorite is a super deep tissue massage that a lot of masseuses aren't able to provide to cut through my athletic muscle. The front desk has always been courteous and helpful to get me the correct person to meet my needs. I like to try different massage therapists and always receive satisfactory results when I am specific about my problems. I've gone to many high end massage places in Santa Fe, and the expensive price of other places never seems to tie into quality. This place is by far the best massage I've ever had, with full consistency. Best massage and experience by far, regardless of price. read more

Spent 90 minutes feeling frustrated with what felt like Luke warm handshakes, I could tell the therapist didn't want to put in any more effort than minimally, even with repeated requests to dig in, she continued to make awful meek motions. Completely apathetic customer service. They did a last minute cancel of my appointment, after I had arranged my work day to take off early. Keep in mind that this business charges clients for last-minute cancellations but offer no kind of way to make up for cancelling on a customer at the last minute. They clearly didn't care at all to lose my business. I was in town for a horse show and on my day off my mom and I decided to get massages and thought it would be a great experience being at massage envy, but it was far from a great experience. The place was rundown and aesthetically unappealing. The massage I received from my therapist was one of the worst massages I have ever received and I get massages regularly. I am honestly not sure if she even went to a massage school, it was that bad. Instead of being relaxed I spent 90 minutes being upset about how bad this massage was. My mom also experienced similar issues. The price for both massages with tip was 200, which was extremely painful. I would 100% not recommend this place to anyone. read more

I am a member of Massage Envy in Chicago. I've always had a pleasant experience at the location I frequent. I grew up in Santa Fe and will sometimes visit the Massage Envy with my sisters when I am in town visiting family. My sisters are all members of Massage Envy. Every year I will buy a massage gift certificate for one of my sisters for her birthday. The past two years I have purchased gift certificates at Massage Envy in Santa Fe over the phone and they have disappointed both times. It's unfortunate because my review has absolutely nothing to do with the massage therapists, but with the lack of competency and professionalism that the reception desk employees exhibit. This afternoon I received a voicemail from "Trimela" (sp?). She was nice enough, but wanted to know if I happened to recall the purchase price of a gift certificate that I bought for my sister in October of 2016 because Massage Envy could find no record of it. I am certain that everyone remembers the exact dollar amounts of gift certificates they purchase for loved ones over the years. I was dumbfounded at how a company could call me and ask me to refresh their recollection on a purchase that I made almost a year ago. I laughed and told Trimela that I had no earthly idea because that was the truth. I bought the gift certificate and then moved on with my life as most people do. I had a vague recollection that I bought a 90 minute massage, but I couldn't confirm that without digging through my credit card statements. I immediately texted my sister who confirmed that she had been trying to use the gift certificate to redeem the massage that I bought her almost a year ago, but Massage Envy would not allow her to because she did not have a tangible gift card. I purchased this particular gift certificate prior to Massage Envy updating their website which allows purchasing gift certificates online. Prior to the update I would have to call the reception desk of the Massage Envy in Santa Fe and purchase gift certificates over the phone. I did this because I do not live in Santa Fe, but know that my sister enjoys massages, and it was the only way to purchase a gift certificate at the time. Every year I was told I could do this and there would be no problems whatsoever. I was told that the gift certificate would be placed in my sister's member file so that she could use it at any time. That has never been the case. Every single time my sister tries to redeem a gift certificate at Massage Envy they tell her they have no record of the gift certificate and they need a tangible gift certificate in order to give her credit for the massage. Every time this happens, I have to dig through my bank statements and find proof that I purchased the gift certificate, the date of the purchase, the dollar amount of the purchase, and then provide proof of the purchase to Massage Envy. It is utterly ridiculous that I have to do this. It is not my problem that Massage Envy has such poor accounting practices. Massage Envy promised me that my sister would have no problem using the $90 gift certificate I bought for her. It is almost a year later and I am getting calls from Massage Envy because my sister has been repeatedly told that she needs a tangible gift certificate. If that is the case, then why did Massage Envy tell me she did not need a tangible gift card and they would note her member file? Why did they take my credit card over the phone and process the transaction? Why do I have to find proof of this transaction? read more

Been a member for 7 years. This place used to have a solid, long-time staff, a chill and peaceful vibe, and awesome bodywork. I enjoyed massages from some of the most skilled therapists around town during the years 2010-2013. Then, something happened, and one by one, the finest therapists (most of whom could lecture a course in anatomy), began leaving and migrating to top-notch bodywork business around Santa Fe. I wanted to follow them but gave the place a chance because at least the front desk staff still knew my name, treated me like family, and had remained for the long-term. Now, they're gone, too. The owners went through a messy divorce over a year ago, and this seems to have had a ripple effect. The last time I was there, my massage was elementary and there was a heated altercation between the manager and a very unhappy customer. When I showed up for my appointment, a young woman at the front desk barely glanced up at my face and dully said, "Who are you?" I had to give her my full name, the name of my therapist, and the time of my appointment. For years, all I had to do was walk in, and I was greeted by name by all the reception staff as one of them would cheerfully chirp, "You're all checked in! Enjoy your massage!" Now, everyone acts sullen and lost, and the place has a chaotic vibe. Massage Envy has been going through a 3 year nationwide class action lawsuit for "fraudulent and deceptive business practices", and a settlement has recently been reached where they have to restore thousands of massages that they withheld to former customers. Maybe this has influenced the direction the business has taken. I'm considering cancelling my membership because they don't provide the great services they used to, and in this day and age, our money has to go where it is of best use, I guess. My therapist Keziah does a superb job and has a great attitude and connection to clients. She always inquires as to how I am feeling and what my priorities are. I trust her to determine what needs work and how much pressure to apply. I always feel great after her massage. The office staff is very helpful. Hands down the worst massage I have ever experienced. I told the guy that I wanted him to focus on my shoulders and my lower back. He spent the majority of the massage rubbing his forearms down my middle back, he never once touched my lower back or my shoulders. When he went to rub my feet he actually just rubbed his hand on the side of my foot for like five seconds as if he were quickly petting me and then he was done. I asked for a deep massage and it was super light, I can't imagine what a light massage would be like. He basically just rubbed his palm or his forearms on my skin, but never actually massaged me. Horrible! I will never go back there. I left with the same amount of discomfort that I went in with, but less money. What a waste. read more

I will not go back. The first time I went I really enjoyed it. I went a few years ago and really loved a masseuse by the name of Laurence. He was great. Claudia was also great. If they are still there I would only recommend them. I have had several massages after with different masseuses and it was not enjoyable and relaxing, especially for how much you pay, there was no pressure at all. The last one I had was with a masseuse by the name of Ryan. He did not apply any pressure. He asked how the pressure was and I kept telling him I would like him to add more pressure, but he said he would, however it was continuously the same, as if someone was just rubbing my skin and hardly pressure or work on his part. I left probably more stressed at the fact that I wasted an hour and half and got no results. I informed the lady up front that the gentleman was nice but that the pressure was way too light. She just apologized. They were not able to compensate me or refund me for my massage, or to offer me another massage with anyone else, for a later time. I was very disappointed. The last time I went was a year and a half ago and will not go back. I recommend ten thousand waves or ojo caliente for the best massages. It is a little drive, but so worth it. read more
