I am finished attempting to use this clinic. I found a therapist whom I felt really benefited me from a therapeutic standpoint (Shelene) a few months ago. I attempted to book a f/up session with her online (as recommended). Nothing was available with her name as far as the calendar would allow me to search. I called. A customer service gal booked me 1 March appointment AND 1 appointment in April. My March appointment was scheduled for 03/20/24. Just before the appointment, they called telling me Shelene had some kind of issue & could not be in the clinic that day for my appointment. Same customer service gal tried to convince me to reschedule with another therapist. I explained that I could easily schedule with another therapist myself on the massage envy website, but I really appreciated the massage Shelene (specifically Shelene) gave me, and that I didn't want a different therapist. I explained that I already have another appointment with Shelene for 04/08/24 & that I would prefer to wait for her. Though I was already frustrated, and had explained the preceding, the customer service gal ignored me completely and again encouraged me to reschedule with someone else. The complete disregard for my explanation was disturbing and disappointing to the point that I calmly and matter-of-factly asked her, "DID YOU LISTEN TO A WORD I JUST SAID? ANY OF IT?!?" This brings me to today. Today is April 8th. I came to this clinic 6 minutes prior to my scheduled massage with Shelene (scheduled for noon). The front desk gal told me I could not have an appointment with Shelene as she was not on the schedule today. WHAT!?!???? The front desk gal took my phone number, and she plugged it into the system. She saw my appointment, and she told me (lied) that they texted me to let me know that Shelene doesn't work Mondays at all anymore because she is doing private "in-home" work outside the clinic. I looked back at my text threads to confirm, that there was no such text attempted (there was not). I was not overly surprised at the news she reduced her schedule to only 2 days per week because Shelene HAD told me in my previous session that she did do this private work outside massage envy "on the side" in client's homes, but I was surprised that the clinic allowed her to just change her schedule ("at the drop of a hat") without accounting for clients ALREADY ON HER SCHEDULE ... PREVIOUSLY SCHEDULED WELL IN ADVANCE ... LITERALLY MULTIPLE MONTHS IN ADVANCE. This is unacceptable. I had been looking forward to, finally, getting the therapeutic massage I needed with her, and they just canceled out from under me like that. Furthermore, I thought it was a "no-no" to openly speak from the front desk about they fact that the therapist had basically blown me (a long term loyal member) off to do at home work on the side. Again, I am so frustrated and disappointed. Again, the front desk girl tried to convince me to go in for a facial instead (right now) or rebook with another therapist. Again, she made multiple efforts to continue to do this. When I insisted I wanted Shelene, the soonest appointment she could give me was 05/14/24!!!! Now, I need to wait over another months time to have this massage with Shelene. I was canceled on at the last minute NOT ONCE BUT TWICE. TWO MASSAGES IN A ROW! TWO MONTHS BACK TO BACK! Talk about poor customer service. Again, that particular therapist is great, but one cannot count on the scheduling AT ALL. They are completely undependable. It is as though having a scheduled appointment means absolutely nothing to them as they need not abide by the schedule. I would be a fool to continue to allow them to treat me this way. They gave me a card for a free massage for the inconvenience, but I already have 19 or 20 prepaid massages banked so it doesn't really help me as I have plenty and am very selective as to which therapists I allow to work on me. read more

I had 34.credits earned . I have been a member since the rates were $39.00. Because I'm a senior I don't go as often as I used to . I opted to cancel my membership. I was not aware that I would lose my credits. It took 3 tries to cancel. After I tried to book a massage with my credits, I was told I had none. I called Massage Envy Shea and asked to speak to the manager. I wanted to put my membership on hold as to not lose my credits. I never received a callback from the male manager. I also made 3 calls. I feel as if the salon had stolen from me. Be careful and always check your credits who knows what other ways they are taking from you Or move your membership from this group to another store. read more

I am a single mom who works a physical job as a painter, and I absolutely NEVER take a moment for myself.. well, today I did that, and Massage Envy - Shea DID NOT disappoint!! Ian, the assistant GM, is running a good ship over there. I walked in and was greeted with a friendly, welcoming smile from Megan. What a doll!!! She was kind, friendly, efficient, just on the ball!! She was helping a client when I walked in but still acknowledged me. "Hi! welcome, give me one moment. " She had to ask Ian a question, who was helpful to her and allowed her to learn. When she came back she said "sorry it's only my 4th day" to my surprise she was killing it. She was made for customer service, and for someone who is extremely uncomfortable doing things for herself, Megan helped ease that. Andy, my massage therapist! What a gem of a man. I normally wouldn't ever schedule with a man, but my body is in such bad shape. I wanted some deep big hands, and he delivered. A couple of things in the room - I got low bed warmer, but I should have gone with medium. There were times I was a little chilly but by no fault to Andy. I think the music would be better on a loop so that there is no silenced before the next song plays. Andy really listened to me about my needs and problem areas and then really went in on them. I will say that when he was massaging my little booty and hips, he left the blanket on which I would have preferred he not. I do understand in today's world why he went that route. I would go back to Andy again. One thing is I'm quite very quiet. I prefer to say absolutely nothing until the massage is over, Andy Likes to talk, which is NOT bad. He is friendly and carried conversation well. I am thankful for Andy and his honesty. I felt safe in the room with him, and he was professional! Now, the star of this location and the reason Megan and the rest of the team were so kind and professional Ian!!! Ian, man. At check out, he offers me an upgrade to the membership, which in the long run saved me money and will allow me self care monthly at a cheaper rate. I didn't feel sold - see as I said Ian OFFERED there was no pushy sales or you need this - I didn't give much push back because of that, where on the norm I would absolutely never sign up for something that I literally never take time for. Ian made me feel I deserved this for myself, but not in a sales way. he was genuine! I can't wait to go back and use my FREE 60 min massage, facial, or stretch! I didn't know they offered that now, and I'm excited to try it out. I also was gifted 2 free enhanced therapy cards and also a rewards card after 5 massages. You get a FREE one again!!! The membership is $75 a month that is one 60 min massage - and if you don't use it YES it rolls over!!! Well with that said. I am a very happy client. Had a negative phone call with the manager Cara of the Thunderbird and Tatum location my husband had several massages canceled at other locations he went to Thunderbird was on the table to begin his treatment and the therapist told him she was feeling ill and was going home he could get dressed and leave he was frustrated as another appointment canceled but we understand she needed to go home if she was sick I called Cara to make sure he was credited for this appointment and asked her to credit him an additional massage she told me she is not responsible for other locations canceling past massages and even though this one was canceled at her location I said I understand it's a franchise but it's all still massage envy she said I'm not responsible then she said our therapist got sick she could either go home or get sick all over your husband I told her that was an inappropriate comment and asked her to stop she said she wasn't going to stop and talked more about vomiting it was literally nauseating she was aggressive and on the defense during our conversation I don't feel like I can go to this location as her demeanor made me uncomfortable and concerned as to how she would treat me if I scheduled at this location I am also concerned that she would retaliate as our conversation was so negative I really expected a manager to problem solve and not talk to a customer the way she did especially since this customer has been with massage envy since 2005 The manager at Shea is awesome by the way very professional and provides excellent customer service It's obvious from my review I'm unable to work with the manager Cara so I'll just add this experience to my other social media accounts after the way Cara talked to me I'm very uncomfortable talking to her read more

Add to that, when I contacted the corporate office to lodge a formal complaint, I was told, "Policy is policy. This is my first time ever writing a review for the small business( I just posted same review at google.. so may be 2nd time?) Got a text message and voicemail to confirm my appointments one at 3 pm and one at 4 pm before the day of appointment but when I checked in I was told no appointment scheduled at 3 pm but only 4 pm. THEN while I was waiting for 4 pm appointment found out therapist that i was scheduled with only work till 3 pm. Most frustrate issue is not only scheduling but also attitude of front desk. She treated me with attitudes with smirking. I was told I would be contacted by manager on Monday but guess what...maybe they don't care. No "Happy Ending" here but if you want a really great massage for not much money (about $1 a minute) check out Massage Envy. It doesn't matter where. They are pretty consistent all across America. Most places are open late. Some close at 10pm but most are open until 9pm. This is the one and only place that fits my schedule. This one is located in the Pima Crossing Shopping area. It's your typical Massage Envy. Clean, friendly and helpful staff and awesome masseuses! You can't beat the prices for a massage especially here in Scottsdale/Phoenix area where massages can cost over $100 (in most cases for only 50 minutes)! I became a member a couple of years ago. The fee ($49) a month goes to 1 massage for that month. You will find that what you don't use rolls over to the next month. Isn't that a great program? I spend my life on airplanes and in front of computers in cramped places (OSHA where are you?) I have also spent thousands of dollars trying to find that one "great" massage. With Massage Envy, I can afford to have 2 massages in a week! Awesome! read more

I didn't even get a chance to try this location. What's the point of even having the ability to schedule on the website and if you don't receive a call back! I ended up finally calling myself and I soon as the representative got on the phone, she didn't sound happy. I went through the whole process of letting her know I schedule via the website and never received a call, she informed me doing it that way will not get me scheduled. How am I supposed to know that! If it's an option why can't I get scheduled? After I scheduled the appointment, I guess she tried looking me up in the system since I am a massage envy member, I had informed her earlier that I usually go to the Scottsdale 101 location, she read back a wrong address for me and then placed me hold. After a brief hold someone else picked up the phone, did not identify their self and proceeded to do the whole scheduling process again. I was immediately confused because I thought it was the original representative I was speaking to, I had already scheduled the appointment and the new person on the phone was basically giving me different information about my appointment which was told to me from the previous person I spoke with. What turned me off was both of their tones. It was one thing for me to have to deal with one person who sounded like they had a problem, but the second person got on the phone I was just like, nope nevermind. If it sounds like reception is not happy to be there then I know I probably won't have a great experience. They're the first point of customer contact for crying out loud. Maybe it's just me,.since I am used to going to the Scottsdale 101 location, the girls sound much happier over there, and I guess I wasn't expecting the attitude. read more

Had used this location for a few years. When new ownership took over everything changed. The desk staff is totally incompetent with atrocious customer service. One time misbooking can happen but this is consistent. I never know when I book an appointment if I'm going to get in or not. They have one excellent masseuse, who I have used for years and recommended but I'm having to book her two months in advance. She is greatly overworked. Management simply does not care. My account was frozen during pandemic, I was told by the previous owner when I reactivated I would have to pay $30 per month to reinstate the account. When I wanted to do that, the new owner told me they will not honor that and I would have to pay $75/month like a new membership. But I did have 11 massages already paid for and "banked" which I could use in addition to the new ones I pay for at $75/month. I am looking into another location. THIS IS THE WORST MASSAGE ENVY I HAVE EVER BEEN TOO!!! I have been a member with massage envy for over 4 years and never had a BAD massage. Sure, I've had therapists that weren't my favorite but never a massage I could not wait until it was over! Last week that was the case! I booked an hour and half massage because work had been so stressful! The therapist was late by about 5 minutes and then took forever to get going. Once she got going it was seriously just like someone was lightly applying sunscreen on my back. She would rub a few circles on my back; switch sides do the same thing, then switch back and do the same thing - for 90 minutes! Meanwhile the whole time sighing like she hated being there! She never did any other part of my body than the small circle rubs on my back. It felt like time was going by so slowly all I wanted to do was leave! I finally called back the next day and talked to the manager about this poor experience. She assured me that this was a onetime mistake and invited me to come back in and give their location another chance. She offered to give me a one hour massage with one of their "best and most requested" therapists free of charge. I agreed and went back in. I went in for my re-do last night. First, I checked in with the receptionist who was clearly reading the notes from the manager after I called her. She brought one of her friends in the back office out to read it as well. At one point there were 3 people reading the notes about me calling in and complaining. They were all talking about it which was so awkward because I was sitting 4 feet away and could hear everything! Ten minutes after my massage was supposed to start the girl finally came and got me. The massage itself was better, but not by much. When she finished I thought to myself, "That was short" and then looked up at the clock. It was still 10 minutes until 7 O'clock when my massage was supposed to be over! So I really only got a 40ish minute massage! I went to check out and there was a new girl at the front who made a very bratty comment of "was everything up to your standards this visit?" I said it was OK and left. I went to Mozhi for a facial. While the facial was fine, the peel she applied tingled at first but after I left (and after hours) there was a reaction and I felt burning on my face and neck. I called when they opened the next day. I told the receptionist of my aesthetician's name and the reaction to the peel. She took my name and said Mozhi comes in later in the day. She never called to apologize or tell me what the product was that she applied. I was very disappointed. read more

I have been to many massage places and the atmosphere at all the places I've been to was exactly what you'd expect at a massage place. dim lighting, relaxing. this location is anything but that. you walk in the door and it's like walking into a retail shop. everything is bright! then when you go in the waiting room, everything is bright again! It's a well lit room, and they have all the lights on bright. I hate that!!there is absolutely nothing relaxing about that. of course the massage rooms are dark and the massages are great, but if you can't feel relaxed when you walk in the door, especially when you're sitting in the waiting room, then it kind of defeats the whole purpose for me. I don't like it at all, it needs to be very dim lighting when you walk in the door, and the waiting room area should be dark and very dimly lit. The front office staff is very professional and helpful. I have been going to this location for 9 months and absolutely love it. Monica (my massage therapist) is amazing. I live with chronic pain which changes regularly and she is very in-tune with what I need. She understands the way certain medical conditions affect the body and has helped me with the relief I need to function. If money was endless I'd go way more often as recommended by my doctors, but fortunately the time I am able to go helps a lot. A massage is as good as your individual therapist, and how well that therapist's style meets your preferences. I've had massages from about six different therapists, and when I find one who is very good, I just keep going back to him or her. Every therapist's style is different - so I suggest keep going back until you find one with a style you like. Last year they did significant upgrades to the front area of this location, bringing it up to standards set by other locations. It is much nicer now. They've also apparently replaced many of their face rests, many of which were in very bad shape, making it difficult to find a comfortable position to rest your face. But that problem appears to have been addressed as well. You really can't get a much better deal on a one-hour or 90-minute massage anywhere else. They achieve this price, however, by giving the therapists only a fraction of what you pay. For that reason, I suggest tipping generously. I never tip less than $15 for an hour - sometimes more. I just hope this is enough to keep my therapist coming back! read more

The rationale for my review is based on my recent experience with billing and want others to buyer be aware of this overcharge! I've been a member of this loyal member of this location since it's opening approximately 15 years ago. I've been able to use locations across the United States as well as my home location and have found some wonderfully talented experts in the space. That said, I've been told a recent 2019 technology upgrade has impacted the billing. I've been paying $49.00 a month for the last 14+ years and in 2019 that rate changed to $69.99 due to a glitch in the system. Each month for the last 11 months I've called to report the issue of the ~$20 overcharge, I've sent emails with little response, and they continue to tell me they "will submit a ticket." I've been told they will credit my account with a massage and offer other add on despite my request for the issue to be corrected. Personally, I don't want to monitor this every month, make the calls, write the emails, etc. Buyer be aware and long standing members please check your credit card statements diligently! read more

I've been a member at this location for at least 6 years. I have been unable to use some of my massages because I travel for work and often some of the massage envy locations where I travel are booked or have limited therapist available for last minute massages. I've been calling the Shea location to transfer my membership since I live in California and I have been unsuccessful in reaching the right person to assist. I have $2000 in massages that remain unused and have asked the Shea manager for assistance on the transfer. He also offered 2 credits for the lack of prior response but never came through on the credit and didn't send me the transfer form he was immediately going to email me. At this point I feel like canceling since no one seems to return calls from this location. I would not recommend my friends, family nor co-workers to this location at all due to lack of customer service. My next step will be to contact the attorneys that are handling the lawsuit as I've given this location 6 months to speak with me and come to a resolution on how best to transfer my massages to a location near my CA home. The transfer was offered as a resolution to be able to manage the stop payment option until I use some of my services. Poor customer service. Update: 10 March 2017 Jerome Jones, manager, at this location has contacted me on 08 March 2017. He provided great service and is taking care of my issue. The next day I found out they had changed me anyway. When I called and explained I didn't know and nobody called me ten day before they said that's a courtesy call and there was nothing they can do. Ask for David Ralston and you will have the best massage you've ever had in your life. I have had many massages..and not a single one compares to what he can do. He listened to every concern I had and focused on those areas, while also keeping it relaxed and enjoyable (I have a lot of knots in my shoulders and my hip gets locked up sometimes). I went for 90 mins and have already booked another appt for next week since I almost feel like a new person. I've been to many massage envy locations, but this one is the best! They were the friendliest of all the ones and I seriously think I had the best massage in my life with the therapist, Denise here. She was just great. So attentive and so calming to talk with. I had a few bad experiences with massage envy in the past so I was losing faith until I came to this location. I live in phx and go out of my way to come to this location because of the quality of service I get. Apparently all the therapists here seem to be on their A game because as I was finishing up with Denise we both overheard another guest gushing to their therapist as well. A shoutout to a great massage therapist, Jose. It always takes some trial and error to find the "right" massage therapist, and luckily a few years ago I found Jose. I always get deep tissue and Jose never disappoints and always finds all the problem areas. I followed him from another ME to the current store on Shea, and will follow him wherever he goes, because he is that good. Difficult to book with, as he is usually booked 2-3 months out (another good sign of customer satisfaction) but well worth the advance planning. Thanks, Jose! You deserve a raise! read more
