Using medium to deep pressure and very specific technique, he addressed my left neck/shoulder discomfort, left hip tightness and lower calves in one fantastic hour! Note this location is easy to get to, has a super friendly front desk staff, caring new management, pretty easy parking, and offers a comfortable waiting area with water/tea and clean restrooms. This locations decor was pretty boring I must say. There was literally no relaxing waterfall, decor, or anything calming. The front seat was like every other massage envy . I hate writing negative reviews for hands-on service, but I went in for a 60 minute full-body massage and all I received was a 30 minute massage on one leg. Mike is kind and passionate about anatomy - but we spent the first 15 mins standing up with him showing me exercises and having me do them with him for things I kept telling him I am already going to physical therapy for. I told him my physical therapist sent me for a massage for a leg and knee issue, but that I wanted a full-body massage as well. We never got there - he spent 30 mins just on one leg, 25 mins belly down, 5 mins belly up. I would have paid more for 15 or 30 mins of discussion and PT type work, but I was there for a 60 minute massage, and should have received one. I gave this feedback to the front desk when they asked how the session was, and via text after the session when asked for feedback - no one has followed up on my comments. In addition, I was brought into the room 5 mins late despite arriving 15 mins early as asked, and had to keep my eye on the clock because we would have gone over time if I hadn't reminded him of when I had to leave, several times. read more

Imagine getting a facial by a person who has never had a facial themselves; no flow, non-therapeutic touch and several minutes of slow, light tapping to my forehead to pass the time. Overly gentle... timid even; felt very inexperienced. Can't recommend the esthetician I saw, but would maybe return to one who has excellent reviews on here. 2 star for massage envy, 4 star for my therapist. I'm 34 weeks pregnant and my independent therapist I've been using through pregnancy was out of town so I decided to try massage envy. I called ahead to ask if they could accommodate a pregnancy massage and I was assured that wouldn't be an issue. Someone even called later the evening before to insure me that I would have supper pillows and props to help make me comfortable through my appointment. When we got to the therapy room there was just 2 regular bed pillows available for my to prop my body on it's side. I asked if there was any type of wedge for my bump or something to help support the mid section of my back, and there was not (not even a towel I could roll under) I made the best of the position I could obtain on the table with what we had. I was uncomfortable from the start. I could not super myself enough with two queen size pillows and balance against the massage pressure to keep from rolling into my stomach. About 30 minutes into the massage I had horrible cramping in my mod back from the weight of my belly and trying to keep myself on my side. We had to take a break so my back could stop spasming. We then switch over to the other side but the spasms in my back continued. We eventually rolled me onto my back and propped up the table. Again there was not enough pillow to support my back and my neck hung awkwardly over the short pillow. This table did not allow enough elevation to feel comfortable this far along in pregnancy on my back. My therapist did his best to help make me comfortable but massage envy truly does not have the tools to accommodate a 3rd trimester massage. I think this would have worked just fine if I was 20 weeks pregnant but being further along this wasn't enjoyable and I left with more pain than I entered with. read more

If I could give Massage Envy a million negative stars, I would. I was gifted two credits by a friend of mine who had cancelled his membership but then had continued to be billed by Massage Envy for the entire following year. Once he discovered he was still being billed, he was told that the money wouldn't be refunded, but he could gift the massages to others. He was very upset, but gifted two to me. That story should have been clue #1 that Massage Envy is horrendous in terms of customer service and basically a predatory business that is more interested in getting your money than in providing customers with good service. I tried to make appointments using the credits online and was not able to make two appointments at the same time for my boyfriend and I, So I called the Queen Anne branch. I was told the only appointments available at the same time were over a month out. I was told that I could only use one credit for myself, and that I would have to pay for my boyfriend and use the other credit another time. I was not informed that the credits had an expiry date. I booked the appointments. For the three days before the appointments, my boyfriend and I were badgered by at least five calls and text messages each asking us if we would be at our appointment. We replied "yes" every time. An hour and a half before the appointment, Massage Envy called to cancel, saying that the massage therapist could not come in. I was told that I would need to reschedule. My boyfriend and I would be out of town for the next three weeks, So I rescheduled for another month out. I was again, not told that the credits had an expiration date. I was offered nothing in return (not even an apology) for the cancellation, so I asked if I could at least be able to use the two credits at the same time at the next appointment. The person the phone said he would have to ask his manager and get back to me. Several days later, I got a phone call saying that not only would I not be able to use both credits at the same time, but that the credits were expiring in a week, so I needed to book both of my appointments within the next seven days if I wanted to be able to use them. I told the person on the phone that I was pissed off and that that response was unacceptable and that I wanted to speak to the manager. The manager then called me, and repeated the same pathetic excuses. She made no apology for cancelling my original appointment. I told her that she should at least honor the gift certificate at the October 8 appointment I had made because I could not come in in the next seven days. She said that because the credits were from another Massage Envy that she couldn't honor them and she couldn't do anything about it. I told her that it was was her fault for cancelling the original appointment at which point she screamed at me that her employee has a health crisis during the time of my original appointment. Utterly frustrated at the piss poor customer service I had received, I told her that that her massage therapists health wasn't my problem and then proceeded to open up a bag of expletives on her and then said I was through talking with her and hung up the phone. Massage Envy is a horrible business staffed with horrible people (especially the manager) and I will be reporting them to the Better Business bureau. In the meantime, I would hesitate to give them your credit card, they may charge you for a year's worth of massages and not tell you. read more

Massage Envy gives me a few hours of quiet every month. When I moved and switched locations, I thought I'd never find a great masseuse again, but this location has surprised me. My experience ranges from being a hit to a mess when I arrive and when I'm paying; but once I'm in the quiet room I've always had a great experience from here on out. You definitely need to be ready to commit to the membership if you make a visit here and you need to be sure to book your visits in advance. My favorite are the new scented oils that you can add as an aromatherapy option to your massage. I hope this location keeps up the good work! read more

Had a face and back facial with Jenny and it was amazing. My skin looked great but I was mostly impressed by how relaxed she made me feel! Wasn't going in for a massage but I left feeling rejuvenated and had the best night of my sleep in months. Her facials were thorough and she gave me thoughtful feedback on my skin (similar notes I've heard from my past esthetician who had a private practice). In comparison, I've had facials from other massage envy locations and they weren't as satisfying as Jenny's service. read more

I have no idea how well they are at massage. Couldn't even make an appointment. Tried to book a massage and was funneled to a profile page and then told that I was emailed a confirmation code. Just for a massage?! And to top it off, the confirmation email was never sent. I Tried two different email addresses, had the entail resent multiple times and made sure that it wasn't sent to spam. Then I try to find customer service on their app and website. Other than a CS form about a massage that has already taken place, there is no way to contact the company for help. So rather than allowing me to simply schedule a massage, they would rather lose a potential customer by trying to capture data. For years I've avoided Massage Envy or any "chain" massage place. However, being in Seattle for the summer with no car requires that I find a convenient location. Being an MBA intern requires an affordable one. The service at this location did not feel as transactional as I expected, although I did get the hard sell to become a member at the end. I decided on a month to month option because I'm not big on contractual commitments, but recognize the value in regular massage and spa-like treatments. I am in no way saying this is a spa, but they do offer services like facials and for the price it seems worth it compared to what I've paid in the past for these treatments. I can also cancel at any time which is cool. My massage therapist was a guy. I forget his name, but he applied the right amount of pressure. I left feeling relaxed and tension in my legs (from a spin class) and neck (from work and life) were relieved. read more

AVOID THIS LOCATION I've been a loyal customer at this location for years with many issues pertaining to membership (the pricing and "membership" concept is a scam), incompetent practitioners (e.g., "Wayne" in particular is awful) and ever-changing "revolving door," incompetent and unprofessional (appearance/grooming, communication, customer service, and organizational skills) front desk staff & management that, I've chalked it up to the "chop shop" franchise type service that is the Massage Envy business model. On many occasions my appointments have been scheduled incorrectly or not at all which, as a working mother of two, it doesn't "fly" to have my time repeatedly wasted and treated poorly. However, the location was simply too convenient and, once I found the only therapist (James) to be of high quality, I was able to suck up the rest of the nonsense. The last straw with this location was when I was recently sick the morning of my appointment but knew (from previous "sick days") that if I called to cancel I would be charged, according to their policy and what I've been told in the past by front desk staff. I arrived at the appointment, notified my therapist through the course of conversation prior to the session and, surprisingly but understandably, the therapist said he can't provide me a massage and that I would have to reschedule. So, I wasted 1.5hrs of my day and the therapist's because of the Massage Envy policy (general or this location, I'm not sure). The appointment was rescheduled for the same day and time the following week by a front desk staff person who was clearly having difficulty understanding how to use the software to schedule an appointment. I arrived for my rescheduled appointment and the appointment had been scheduled incorrectly by the front desk staff the week prior; which resulted in me arriving "late," being charged, and wasting my time and the time of the therapist, again. Needless to say, I was upset. I expressed my concern to the front desk staff, as I have many times over the years. I was patronized and met with condescension, insincere "apologies," false "facts" from the owner about how well her business is run...zero accommodations or acknowledgement of their fault in the matter. As an unfortunate result, I've decided to cancel all of my future appointments, cancel my membership, and will be looking elsewhere for a consistently high quality and professional experience where I can receive quality care & customer service at all levels from a wholly competent staff. read more

The massage itself was 3+ stars - pretty good, skilled, kind, intuitive therapist who was genuinely concerned about helping me alleviate pain. However, the experience itself left a horrible impression on me - high-pressure sales! It seems antithetical to a business that exists for the purpose of easing stress and tension for its patrons, to have its sales people CAUSE extreme stress through their high-pressure sales tactics by pressuring patrons into buying a 12-month membership at the end of their massage - preying on people in a vulnerable state. It reminded me of the worst gym membership sales tactics. Really tacky. And the front desk person didn't even understand how FSA cards work (they acted like it was free, unlimited funds and didn't understand why I wouldn't just sign up and charge it to my card!). If what you're pushing is the 12 month membership (with no cancellations allowed), tell people that up front.Let them consider it while enjoying their massage. Don't wait until after their first massage in your establishment, and they are feeling relaxed, to dump that on them and pressure them into signing their next 12 months away. And clearly, that's all the front desk staff cared about. The front desk staff were completely impersonal and transactional. Not what I expect from a provider of massage, a therapeutic treatment. And to make it worse, they called me the next day to try to pressure me into buying the membership. Horrible, horrible experience. And I'm so disappointed, because the massage was good, and it's in my neighborhood, and I was very likely to become a member if I'd been treated more genuinely. I am your target demographic, and see the benefit in monthly massage (or more frequently). But due to your tacky, high-pressure sales tactics, you lost me. I do not enjoy writing such negative reviews concerning any local business, which is probably why it has taken me so long to begin... The reality is though, that this Massage Envy is in no way 'local' or, at all, in touch with the community people who might be so inclined to use their services! My partner tells me this is NO surprise, but I'm naive like that. I think it's their typography that lures you in, making the whole experience seem all so relaxing and rejuvenating... NOT the case. They're all just trained sales people who capitalize on your weakness, specifically, in the case of manipulating someone's hope for less stress and a healthy body. They use words like 'gift' and 'included with' to obfuscate the ways in which they take your money. Any massage here is a joke if you don't pay extra for the hour and half(or something, anything really, it doesn't matter what it is, you're being sold to at every step of the process...). There are at least 20 massage therapists(licensed and unlicensed) on staff whom are probably very talented and with potential yet it's unfortunate that this company brand is overlooking the importance of the individual by turning them into a commodity or an excuse to charge an exorbitant amount of fees. I would appreciate if this business were to close and leave Queen Anne! There are more personal and supportive ways to relax around here!! read more

I had the best facial today with Renee at Massage Envy. I was a little hesitate to book on Queen Anne as I thought parking would be an issue, it was not. I found plenty of free street parking a half a block away. I was greeted by a friendly staff before I headed back for my facial. I am 60 years old, and take very good care of my skin. I found Renee knowledgeable and willing to talk to me about my skin concerns. She suggested the Silkpeel Dermal Infusion Treatment. I learned she has just moved from California where she worked in a medical spa. Massage Envy is lucky to have someone with her expertise working for them. She recommended a couple of skincare products but did not push them. I was extremely happy with the appearance of my skin/service and booked a future appointment when I left. read more

I cannot say enough wonderful things about the staff and Hadji, my massage therapist that day. Hadji is an AMAZING person and massage therapist. He has a calming friendly presence and he asks great questions and made sure I got what I hoped for. A massage is something we all look forward to and often really need to treat ourselves for pain or stress. They understand that here and they make sure you get the relief you are there for! After my massage with Hadji... I felt sooo amazing and relaxed. When I got home I napped for 2 hours and thoroughly enjoyed my rest and the post massage jello body and mind haze ;-) Thanks for the much needed respite! Overall, I had a great experience at Massage Envy. Also, I live in the apartments above and the staff is all super friendly. They are very conscientious and they are building a nice sense of community here in Queen Anne. Even when I just walk by with my puppy they come give her a treat! read more

In addition, I've been to multiple Massage Envy locations and this one seems to be a notch above the rest. I paid for a for a 60-minute massage and ended up getting a 45-minute massage because they had me waiting in their waiting room for almost 30 minutes, for Gods knows what reason. The sad part is that I filled out my paperwork prior to coming in, just to avoid wait time. Well, that didn't work out. I was looking forward to some much needed relaxation, but it was a poor experience overall. I left feeling achy and with no intention on going back. I'm still trying to figure out what I'm going to do about my membership. I want to give them another try, but I hate wasting my money and in this case, my time. read more

I went in and paid for a for a 60-minute massage, but I got a 47-minute massage after sitting in the waiting room for 25 minutes. At the end, he told me that the reason he spent the first 15 minutes digging his elbows into my upper back was that my back was tight and he needed to loosen things up, and that next time he would use a warm pad to loosen me up first. Every other masseuse I've seen has known to do this and didn't waste a third of my time loosening up my back manually. The 30 or so minutes he did give were alright, but worse than any other massage I've gotten in Seattle. His finger nails weren't trimmed so he scratched me several times. He applied the same pressure to all muscles, so the deep spots didn't get enough and the soft spots were painful. He didn't explain what he was doing and didn't seem concerned if he was hurting me or not, just went through the motions he knew. At the end, he and the receptionist both tried to sell me on their monthly membership plan. Uncomfortable and unfriendly. Massage Sanctuary in Capitol Hill was the exact opposite (went longer than I paid for, always the right amount of pressure with verbal verification, helpful explanations, no sales pitch). I was hoping Massage Envy would work out since it's closer to home, but at this point it's certainly not worth it. read more

I was very disappointed in my massage tonight. First it is strange to talk to the receptionist instead of the therapist about your concerns but I can get over that. What bothers me is when I book an hour and a half massage so that I can have a full body massage with a focus area. Unfortunately my massage therapist simply did the massage he wanted to do instead. I said most of the massage should focus on my legs and feet which received maybe 20min total. Then one of my other concerns was my right arm and he didn't do my arms at all!! Now I will go and get an hour massage on my arms and legs only since then I won't have to worry about the therapist spending too much time on my back and shoulders. Also the massage ended 10min early which would have been enough time to do my arms. If you chose to come here make sure you point to the areas you want massaged and hope for the best. If I am ever desperate for a massage I might come back but my expectations for a good focused massage will be accurately low. read more

Okay, I was wary of this chain business initially, expecting sub par results for masseuses looking to make a quick buck. BUT, I was pleasantly surprised and treated well! I really love that they thoroughly go through a questionnaire with you regarding the aches n' pains as well as personal preferences. The back room was ambient and chill and I felt like I was able to communicate with my masseuse as well as just zone out. The massage was one of the best one's I've had in years! Downside is right after you get out of the massage you get hit with all the normal promos in order to sign up for a standing contract with them. I get it, it's a chain and they thrive on keeping people on a subscription but it really did feel like it got forced down my throat. Not exactly nice coming out to after a massage. Last weekend I went in for a massage and facial and it was the best decision! The staff I encountered were extremely friendly and welcoming, the building is well kept and maintained, and the environment was very relaxing. I wanted a massage for relaxation, not to work out an knots or kinks, and my masseuse, Katie listened and delivered! I felt comfortable and relaxed :) The main reason for my visit was the facial- I love Murad products and took advantage of the $10 off promotion they have going on until August 2. Leanne, as other reviews mentioned was fabulous! I had several questions that she answered and talked me through what she'd be doing. She understood my skin 'issues' and was really easy to carry on a conversation with. I hadn't been in for a facial in years (I know :/ ) and I felt great once the appointment was over. As far as a membership goes, I had decided before I went to sign up for one- I'd wanted to incorporate a monthly facial in to my beauty routine, especially these summer months since I have oily skin! I can't wait to use it - I'd 100% recommend going for their summer facial event if you haven't yet - $10 off, a free sample of a Murad product (a vitamin C mask I think is what I got) and when you schedule a follow up apt, you get another gift when you come back! AMAZING Facial! ONE WORD: LEANN! I moved to Seattle last January and was not regularly getting facials, but knew that I wanted to incorporate it into my beauty routine at some point. I am SO glad that I found Leann. I first met her last summer at another spa in the Seattle area and was so happy when she started working at Massage Envy. Their location is great and they treat their employees so well, you can totally tell. Now onto my heavenly facial :) The room was calm and serene and Leann did a great job at describing what she was doing, but was able to hold a conversation for the full hour! She was able to tend to all of my needs and addressed any skincare concerns I had. I really loved the mask that we used, so I decided to purchase it afterwards and it was moderately priced - only $37 when other places will charge well over $100. Murad is a great brand - it's natural, but has science to back it up. I had been warned about Massage Envy pushing a membership hard on you, but since my service was so superb it was a no brainer to join! I can't wait to come back every month to see my favorite aesthetician - Leann. I can't wait to be back! read more

I have no idea what some of these reviewers are complaining about. Both my girlfriend and I have had nothing but very pleasant experiences every visit! We go at least once a month. The Front Desk staff are all very welcoming, and always greet me with my name (which is nice, and I'm sorry ladies I don't know your names)! Even with the stupid masks on, I can tell they're smiling at me! We always book with either Kristina M or Kristina C, they are both awesome! Perfect pressure, they always ask if there's a particular part of my body that needs extra attention, and if the pressure is too light or too deep, just tell them! They will adjust accordingly! I just received an amazing 90 minute facial from Queen Anne with LeAnne. It was more customized than I have had with them. It came with 3 different masks and there were multiple options I could choose from and she walked me through each one that would benefit me most. The mask that peeled off in one piece may have been my favorite addition to the facials! She educated me enough to understand everything that was happening and I still felt relaxed. My face felt better instantly and plan on keeping up with a weekly mask! I also want to commend Desiree the manager she was very pleasant and welcoming and I did notice how attentive the front desk was. I highly recommend the new 90 minute facials!! read more

This place is magic! I went in today feeling awful. I was in a funk, my shoulders were completely knotted up and I was stressed to the max. I spent an hour and a half with Ally. She gave me a full body massage with lavender aromatherapy. During the massage I could feel the tension leaving my body. I was melting into the table. She was AWESOME! Super friendly, knew exactly what my muscles needed, spent time working on particularly troublesome areas and was helpful in explaining ways to preserve and heal my body after I left. I ended up buying a membership because I can't imagine my life without a once-a-month massage now. Everyone at the front desk was welcoming and very nice as I paid, purchased my membership and scheduled my next appointment. I left in such a good mood! I was singing in the car on my way home! I loved Jacoba! She was really attentive. Asked me what I was looking for and all that good stuff. I got deep tissue and she was tough! Got all into my tense spots on my back and quads. She checked in with me every so often. 2 things I particularly appreciated. 1. When I asked about stuff, she was very helpful in explaining. I don't know much about muscles and I like to learn so that was great. 2. When I said certain parts hurt but I was ok to continue, she did. I've been to places where the therapist will lighten up. I've tried a few different massage therapists here but my favorite and who I would highly recommend is Erin. i had a really great experience with this massage envy! it was my first time there. The staff was very inviting, they offered me water while i wait. They really seemed to care about what i was coming in for and what my needs were for a massage. I have a lot of issues with my upper back an neck, this is more than relaxation for me and it was clear to me they wanted to be aware of that. My therapist was very comforting! i am always hesitant to let someone work on such a sensitive area. He was very reassuring that he would take care of me. i was very pleased with the pressure and technique used. I also felt the clinic was very clean, which is important to me! My experience with Spa Envy Queen Anne has been delightful. I want to give them 4 stars for many reasons but I think the staff there also wants to be better which in my book is 5 stars. It also conveniently located in my neighborhood up on Queen Anne Ave. I've had many amazing massages and others that were OK. Tell them what type and pressure of massage you want because they care about matching you with the correct therapist. I'm now working with Hillary and every deep tissue massage is amazingly therapeutic. I'm recovering from many surgeries so I need adjustments and relaxation to heal. My posture is better and I feel good. Yes, I'll share her name...HILLARY. The staff is awesome - welcoming and helpful both on the phone for scheduling and at the salon. It's a new salon and the staff is gaining experience and to me - their business is running smoother. I'm telling you - the staff's attitude is infectious with kindness. I love it! The membership plan has been positive for me due to cost savings and monthly reminders to come in and take time for myself with a massage. When I missed a month massage, my time was added to the next month and so on. So for the next month I scheduled a 2-hr massage and I just melted. You don't need a membership and the regular costs are reasonable. They also work with Health Saving Plans which is very helpful! read more
