I had been wanting to try this place for a while, so I was excited when my husband surprised me with a massage and facial appointment as part of my birthday gift. I visited on a Sunday and was greeted with a smile and a warm welcome as soon as I walked in. The location is convenient and situated in a shopping strip with shared parking. Since I was a first-time guest and not a member, I completed some intake paperwork before my appointment. Afterward, my massage therapist, Laurie, came to greet me and took me back to the treatment room. The room had a calm, relaxing atmosphere, and the massage table was wonderfully warm and comfortable. I especially loved the soft sheets and blanket. Laurie was incredibly kind, professional, and skilled. She mentioned that she has been doing massage therapy for many years, and it showed. Throughout the session, she checked in with me to make sure I was comfortable and feeling okay. By the end of the massage, I felt so relaxed that I could have easily gone home and taken a long nap. I had about 30 minutes between my massage and facial, so I spent some time relaxing in the quiet waiting area. They had a water station available, and Laurie emphasized the importance of staying hydrated after a massage, so I made sure to drink plenty of water. The peaceful atmosphere was so relaxing that I actually dozed off for a little while. When it was time for my facial, Carmenique came to get me. She was energetic, friendly, and immediately made me feel comfortable. I really enjoyed talking with her. The facial itself felt amazing, and she did a fantastic job. Carmenique was extremely knowledgeable about the products she used and clearly passionate about skincare and helping her clients achieve their goals. After my services were complete, I stopped by the front desk where they explained the membership options. I was definitely tempted to sign up on the spot, but I decided to take some time to think about it. Honestly, after this experience, I can see the value in regular massages and self care treatments. I had gone a few times and had a nice massage. I went to someone I didn't know named Elijah Rose. She manipulated my knees by pressing them in the flexed position which caused hyperflexion and then twisted them back and forth. I told the overall manager and she consulted the massage therapist, Elijah Rose who lied and said that she never manipulates knees. I now have chronic knee pain and have to see a specialist. I also spoke to the overall manager that oversees all of the Massage Envy's around Indy and he suggested that I hurt my knee walking. Really?! Just know if you get a massage there and they hurt you, they will take zero responsibility. I didn't want anything from it except for them to take care of my medical bills and treatment. read more

I did schedule for a hot stone treatment as well but it wasn't prepared so I didn't get the service and that was disappointing. This location rarely has availability, although they'll gladly take your monthly membership fee. It can take 2-4 months to get an appointment, then they can cancel and still expect you to pay the monthly fees. The owner has figured out a way to make big time money at his five locations but cares little about customer service. read more

On more than one occasion I've scheduled a couples massage weeks in advance and have gotten cancelled on the day before because "one of the massage therapists was no longer able to come to work that day/time." Is it just the norm for massage envy employees to not show up for work or something? If it had only happened once I would consider it a fluke, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Giving 3 stars because the one time I was able to reschedule my massage, it was a pretty good massage - but with the scheduling challenges I will just be taking my business elsewhere moving forward. read more

I've been getting massages at this location for a couple of years now. However on a very consistent basis I get a last-minute cancellation.... While I understand people get sick and things happen, in the case of today, they advised that the massage therapist decided to take Saturday off which is when my massage was scheduled for. There is no offer of upgraded service, offer to reschedule, or offer to find an opening at a different location. Overall I feel like this is a very poorly managed location. Yesterday morning we had two appointments booked for 9 and 10am at the location "Southport 6815 S. Emerson Ave Indianapolis Indiana". We were told at 915 that our provider "didn't show up and they have never had this happen before". They didn't offer anything other than an "enhancement". A little background that they were aware of. It was a surprise for my daughter. We were in out of town and left our luxury hotel at 815 am to be there. If we knew there was no provider, we would have relaxed in our hotel for the morning. I got confirmation from emails of our appt and the Covid email. Then at 1130 I got an email cancelling our appts?! What?! They were cancelled at 915 when there, "in the tranquility room" was no provider at the location just the front desk person telling us about it. She also said she would talk to her director and call us back yesterday. She did not. When I emailed the location, I received an email telling me that I "was not willing to work with them?" I have no idea what they are talking about. I am beyond angry. I have had a membership for 2 years. I have several credits. If you miss an appt the day of then you still have to pay for the service so it only seems right that they compensate me for two massages or credit my account an additional two 60 min services as that is what I was there for. I've yet to hear back from them when requesting a call and email. I will be cancelling my membership I've had for two years as I won't continue to PAY $80/MO TO BE TREATED THIS WAY. I should mention I have never been treated this way at any other massage envy location. This one was horrific. read more

Massage envy did me dirty! They are able to cancel whenever they feel like but we get penalized when we cancel. On September 27, I had a 5 o'clock hot stone massage, my first one!!! I had this with Miss Bunny, and during so the electricity went out, Miss Bunny tried to continue to massage me but kept talking and it wasn't relaxing and then we heard people laughing and making noise outside so she went and then told me to get dressed. At this time, I still had 30 minutes and Miss Bunny even said that's not right will try to fix it. Well, fast forward, I talked to a manager named Josie, who was very sweet and helpful and then the next time that I called I talk to the other manager which I forgot her name but she was like you got your services and there's nothing else for us to do! I told her to even talk to Miss Bunny because she even said I didn't get my full massage finished. I would not recommend them. They are not professional and I'm still disputing this. read more

I do not really have any complaints however some disappointments with respect to my hard earned money and a small level cheating. both of my appointments were good and some of my massage needs were satisfied. they have very good trained therapists and will work on the areas you want them to focus. Disappointments: Both of the times I have been there I made sure I arrive location 20 minutes prior to appointment due to their disclosure policy. so each time I have expected the appointment to start exact time of appointment but both times they have started 15 minutes late (so far 30 minutes of paid loss time) but when it comes to leaving I leave not even a minute late that scheduled hour time. again I would like to remind that I had good experience with therapists but overall management and small amounts of time cheating. read more

I went to this business because I threw my back out and couldn't get into my massage therapist ... my massage wasn't the greatest but they also charged my credit card twice and they keep saying it didn't process on there end. I had a great experience UNTIL I tried to cancel my membership. I called 8 times, emailed, got a hold of corporate, and am still not getting reimbursed for charges that I did NOT authorize after I sent and made multiple cancellation requests. I disputed the charges with my card company and they finally got Massage Envy to stop charging me in September but when I called last night, my membership was still not cancelled officially! The assistant manager was helpful but nothing is being resolved. Their policies are awful and impossible to navigate and you will not get any follow up. Do NOT start services with Massage Envy - you'll never be able to stop them on your own! read more

I had 12 massages built up. Yes 12. I had tried calling since April 2019 to have my account frozen for the $10/mo like I was promised I could easily do when I agreed to start the monthly program. This was even suggested to me when I hit 8 massages. Apparently their policies "changed" and it had to go through a manager but good luck getting a hold of one. I finally spoke with a manager towards the end of August who told me my account is frozen. My $780 worth of massages were there's to keep since nobody would freeze my account for several months. The ONLY way I could get them back is to purchase another 12 massages! I had probably called 20 times and even went in to speak with someone. They called the manager from the location and were put on hold for such a long time I had to leave. Basically, they called me back twice from random numbers and since I wasn't available, I sacrificed my almost $800 to them. Not to mention whenever I called to get a massage, they had none available at any location. I understand it was same day or next day but with a very busy schedule, I needed this kind of availability and was told I could make same day appointments. I would call several different locations on the days I tried. All booked. So in my opinion, they have sold way too many of their packages and are ripping off alot of people bcuz we don't have time to use them, then when we do have time, you are already booked and you REFUSE to put people's accounts on a freeze then ROB them of their HARD EARNED MONEY because of your own faulty "message system". This should've been handled in APRIL. May by the Latest. I'm surprised this is even legal and looking further into this. read more

I am very disappointed with how this location is ran. I purchased a membership this past year and because of Covid-19 wasn't able to use 5 out of my 12 sessions that I paid the $65/month for. So when things starting opening back up and I was able to get in for an appointment I started going again. I reached my 1 year mark and since I had only planned to be a member for 1 year I cancelled and was told that I had 5 unused sessions. I was not informed there was a time limit on these sessions so I assumed I was good. I tried again to make an appointment and it was a month to get into the therapist I wanted. I had tried 3 other therapists and there wasn't any comparasion. If I was paying $65/month I wanted a good therapist. So I call today to make an appointment and was told my 5 unused sessions are now expired and that the policy was I had 60 days to use them. Here's the problem: your staff needs to be trained better because I wasn't aware of the 60 day expiration. I tried to talk with the manager and he wasn't going to do right by the customer; he just wanted to argue about it. I will not be recommending this business to anyone and encourage anyone to read the fine print on everything-not take the employees word. read more

When my Mom paid for her massage on 11/15/2016, she was charged $95. Upon calling to question the pricing, we discovered that because she had received a massage within 6 months of 11/15, she was charged a "non-member" rate. Made an appt for my daughter for another 90 min massage. She's been before and last time I had to sign a waiver for her to get a massage. No one mentioned this time that now a parent has to remain in the room during the massage. It's kind of creepy for a dad to sit in the room for 90 min while his 17 year old daughter gets a massage. Let me start off by saying do NOT work for massage envy nor waste your money on their memberships. I am a former employee and FDA. I was hired back on 10/6/2020. During my interview with Jeanette I let her know that I have a medical condition before even being considered being hired. She told me this was not an issue and proceeded to hire me. About 3 weeks later, the Director of Ops, Jennifer Boone, came into the store. She pulled me into the office and proceeded to tell me I was NOT ALLOWED to work my regular closing shifts any longer due to my medical condition. My medical condition is not affected or triggered by simply sitting at a counter on a computer. I was initially HIRED as a store closer. She then told me "take some time to think about what you want to do". Implying that I should go work else where because I'm a liability or "too much of a risk". I had to beg my doctor for a note stating that I was capable of working the closing shift. Even after giving them said doctor's note, I was still treated poorly and my hours were minimal. I was given bullshit reasons why I wasnt getting hours. It is against the law to reduce hours or threaten an employees job due to a medical condition. I was discriminated against because of my medical condition. oh then! When I was initially hired on, I was told starting training pay was $8 an hour for 2 weeks ONLY. My pay didn't get fixed until about 4 weeks ago and they will not back pay me for their mistake. I took a big loss of money working for them.. I worked an 10 hour shift with Jennifer (the director of ops) and she only worked a 6hr shift that day. She took 6 smoke breaks and even a lunch break before I even had ONE SINGLE BREAK. It was 4pm before I got to eat and my shift was 8am to 6pm. They do not care about their employees. Especially front desk associates. Not to mention they expect the world from us and only want to pay us dirt. Jennifer, Sherry, and Bruce should be ashamed of themselves. Do better! read more

During my facial, which I was under the assumption was going to be relaxing... she managed to rip my nose ring out while wiping my face with a towel causing it to bleed. I came in this past weekend with my mom for a hour massage with Todd. I'm from Chicago and have been a Massage Envy member for over a year. I would like to say up front I was in a serious car accident about 7 years ago and broke my back and have had hundreds of not bad, not great massages since then. When we came in Jen, the manager, greeted us and is very personable. Todd is in my top 3 massages of all time. He is strong, knows the body extremely weel, and is perfect for deep pressure. I literally sobbed when I got to my car because I had no pain in my back. The only other time this happened was at super high end spas on vacation in LA and Miami. Great massage, great service. I wish it was in Chicago. This is truly a cost-effective relaxation escape! read more

This place is a scam. If you sign up for a membership it's difficult to find a convenient appointment time and even then they may or may not cancel on you. About 1/3 of my appointments have been cancelled. It's also impossible to cancel. They conveniently lose your cancellation forms and continue to charge for sessions that can't be used. The manager is only concerned with making sure you can't cancel. The less sessions you use, the less employees they have to pay. read more

This Massage Envy is very professionally run and operated. When enrolling as a member, the benefits and costs were clearly explained to me. This location is very clean and well maintained, with a nice and relaxing room for members to sit and wait in before their appointment. Mints and candy are also scattered throughout the waiting areas. The rooms are clean, smell nice and are pleasantly lot during your massage. The massage beds are heated, and the masseuse will adjust the temp as you wish. As a man who prefers a female masseuse, I found the technique of the employees to have a decent range of variability. I guess this could be a good thing, but when trying to find my preferred masseuse, I had to try 3 different ones before settling on the masseuse I stuck with. Overall, I am glad I purchased a Massage Envy membership. It makes scheduling a massage easy, and you can go to any Massage Envy in the country. read more

If I could give this company zero stars I would. This establishment is a rip off and completely unprofessional. I would not sign anything with this company at any location. I went in for a facial and they did not tell me until I got there that the machine was broken. The woman tried to convince me to get a regular facial. In which I told her no because I saved two sessions for this facial, I want the micro facial. I rescheduled for the following weekend. I went in the next week and received a 20 minute facial. It was horrible the worst facial I've ever had. The woman then Had the audacity to ask me if I wanted to reschedule in four weeks. I spoke with the manager about my complaint which she said corporate would be giving me a call about it. I Never heard from corporate. On top of that when I looked at my bank account they charged me my $65 fee, and another $60 for the facial I'm assuming. That being said I spent $190 on a 20 minute facial that was only supposed to be $130. Which is a fraudulent $60 that I never authorized. I have been to many five star spas and had amazing facials for the same price. The only reason I signed up with them was because of the man who gave me a massage the very first time. He was great but, he left after my first session, after I already signed up . I am not someone who writes reviews. As a matter of fact I have never written a review about an establishment. This being my first one because of how this company operates and is fraudulent. Many more complaints with this establishment. I have been to several Massage Envy's because I travel so often for work. I had a massage today by Taylor (male). This was the best massage I have EVER had. I cannot recommend him enough! He took extra time to identify what was causing my pain and at the end demonstrated stretches that would prevent future pain. I won't be going to anyone else!!! I purchased gift cards for my daughters for Valentines Day. One of my daughters had hers stolen with her purse. When I called the store, they could clearly tell that the card had not been used but they refused to reissue another one or in ANY way help her out. In other words, they knew that there was still a $100 credit on her account but will not honor it even if she brings in her identification or proof of purchase. What a terrible policy!! The Southport location seems almost like the 'Walmart' of places to get a massage. I bought a package of three massages and had the first two at Southport, then switched to Center Grover for the third one. Both times at Southport, the massage started late (I'm not talking about the time allotted for getting undressed/consultation), but the massage therapist sure didn't extend the massage time to make up for that. The second massage I had was awful. Not because of the technique - that was actually good, but because of the massage therapist. She took a smoke break right before giving me a massage, and her hands reeked of smoke. And guess what happens when a massage therapist uses massage oil rubbed in by hands reeking of cigarettes? That transfers to your skin. Yep, I realized driving home that I now reeked of her cigarette smoke, which was unpleasant. This same massage therapist totally stressed me out during the massage, which definitely isn't supposed to happen. She told me about her boyfriend. And she was in the process of moving. And how sore she was from moving. And that she likes hot showers. And her ex boyfriend is a wuss because he didn't. And that's why he was her ex-boyfriend. Seriously? This was the worst massage experience I ever had. I was just there for a dang massage, not to be her therapist. I will not return to the Southport location. Ever. read more
