When pulling up, I noticed this is a strip mall with shared parking. No issue finding a parking spot on a Sunday afternoon. I frequent a location in Arizona by my house, but wanted to book a session while in Jacksonville for a work trip. I used the convenient Massage Envy app, and booked a session. My therapist for a 90-minute session was Kristina where I did the Enhanced Muscle Therapy. Upon entering, I was checked in immediately and advised the relaxation room is all the way down the hallway and to the right. A first for me as usually it is right by the entrance from the lobby at other locations. I like that it was a bit more secluded, and conveniently located by the bathrooms. My tip is to arrive 10-15 minutes early, and make sure to go before your session. My reason for my visits are usually my upper back, shoulders, and neck; but this time, I had edema in my feet and calves since making the cross country flight. Kristina did a spectacular job helping me find relief, and I feel like a whole new person! If you are reading this and local to Jax, RUN DO NOT WALK TO BOOK A SESSION WITH HER. Absolutely unacceptable experience with Massage Envy (4375 Southside Blvd #10, Jacksonville, FL 32216). I canceled twice within the allowed timeframe and I'm STILL being charged. Their contract feels like a complete scam designed to keep billing you no matter what. Customer service has been useless--no accountability, no resolution, just continued charges. And to make it worse, the massages aren't even good enough to justify any of this. I will be filing formal complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the Florida Attorney General for deceptive business practices, and disputing every charge. I have been at member at ME for over 10 years and I am very disappointed by my visit. Recently moved to the area and tried this establishment. Well I booked online with a person that had medium, firm and deep as their pressures. Well, the massage I was given was not deep and he worn a glove during session. I asked the front desk if he is a deep therapist she stated no more medium. I showed her the app where it stated he is medium, firm and deep and she stated that needs to be changed. I've gone here twice, now. Started with a gift card that I finally used like 8 months later and I ended up getting a membership. My first visit was with Jessica (I think) and she was great for a relaxing massage. Just really placed and more of a lighter touch. My next visit was with Cynthia with a bit more focus on some knots I had from poor sleep. Well, apparently I had lots more to work out than I thought!! She spent most of the hour on my back as I tried to breathe through the knots she was taking care of. Wow!! I was sore just hours later but in the best way. She gave me some tips on how to relieve some stress and sleep better. I'll be back!! I also added on aromatherapy which included a specially mixed bottle of lotion and I was able to take the rest! And I got a sample of another oiled lotion to try. They have some new oil products I also tried out because I wanted to test something that was easy to travel with. The girls at the front have been sweet on the phone when I had life drama and had to move my appointments. And really great in person helping me to pick things and not feel overwhelmed. My experience was not good so from the start my aunt scheduled me, my mom and her massages weeks ago for 11/11/24 so I got a call last week saying that I wouldn't be about able to get a massage done this day 11/11 due to being short staffed so the young lady told me she would call someone name Elizabeth so I was told Elizabeth agreed to do my massage without a problem on 11/11 so everything was set. Then I get a call from Marcus on the day of our appts 11/11 saying that Elizabeth wouldn't be able to do my massage because of personal reasons, well that's not my issue so then Marcus said he would make some calls to see who else could accommodate me so he called me back same day saying that someone name JD could do it but at this time, it was an inconvenience so I cancelled all of our appts for that day 11/11 so 2 mins after I cancelled they charged my aunts card so I called Marcus back and to make sure we wouldn't be charged and he stated its the store policy...Unprofessional and I will be speaking with store manager and corporate office as well read more

I can always appreciate the little "I'll be right with you" gesture. Before I booked the appointment, I asked for recommendations on massage therapists who can provide firm pressure massages but also fluidity in their movements. I was offered two names and I went to Amanda purely due to our schedule matching up. Amanda was very friendly and pleasant and did deliver the firm but fluid massage I was looking for. After being a loyal client to Massage Envy Southside location for almost over 3 years, my lady and I had to close our membership accounts due to life changes and other high priorities, however we didn't want to leave without saying few excellent words. We have been with the Southside location as it went through its business evolution and growing pains with few mishaps that we had to dealt. They stepped it up and helped to smooth the process and kept it consistent session after session including the hours that we have caught up. Those of you who may be frustrated, you simply need to reach out to the franchise owner/manager(s), and they WILL diligently do their best to resolve your issue(s). We had a great overall experience with Massage Envy and the Southside location. Their staff has been courteous, friendly, and proficient. If our massage needs ever arisen in the future, we will be back at this location. It was an emotional goodbye with the entire staff of Southside location with their gratitude and an adorable and thoughtful thank you card from the entire staff. I can sum this place up in a few words- "Your experience will vary." This particular joint has 17 massage therapists(MTs) on staff and no staff bios online or in shop, so it's really the luck of the draw who you end up with and how it goes unless you know someone and can request them personally. My husband and I went for some much overdue work last night, his masseuse LuAnn was AMAZING, mine, a guy with a J name... (Justin?) not so much. Giving the dude the benefit of the doubt, I've researched the heck out of the company (couldn't sleep last night), and have found out the following. - Massage Envy(ME) is a franchised corporation with over 800 locations. - On average, their MTs earn $15 a massage, or minimum wage for hours they have no massages, whichever works to more over the month, and not both. (IE, you work 5 hours one day and get 5 massages, you earn 60 bux plus tip, next day you get nothing- but your 60 bux plus tip works out to making both days minimum... etc) I think that this is WAY too low for how much of a toll your body takes for this skilled craft. - The quality of manager/upper staff and treatment of employees ranges widley from location to location, but generally they're the ones raking in the dough (you pay $38-59+ for a massage, your therapist gets 15, no matter what- do the math) - If you enroll as a member and miss your three day cancellation window, you can only get out of the contract if you move more than 25 miles from a ME or have doctor's or military orders. - In Ohio state, the salary of massage therapists overall has dropped considerably since the first ME opened there. Taking these researched facts into consideration- ME is not a one size fits all kind of place. The therapists are booked back to back, so if you don't mind possibly getting a worn out therapist (like I did) and paying bottom dollar for it- example, you NEED a massage every other week and this is the only way you can afford it, or you luck out and know/find someone who works there who you love (like my husband did last night) go for it. If you are more concerned about the happiness of your therapist, willing to pay a little more if it means they get more, etc... I recommend going elsewhere. Where yet, I do not know- but here's the cost breakdown for a couple. $59/mo first person, $49 second. Additional massages $39. Gratuity not included. which works out to... $186/mo plus gratuity for 2 "1 hour massages" each. What they don't tell you is that your therapist has to take your prep time off of your massage, ours ended up being 48 minutes. For long term massage, not bad rates- but I can't relax in their environment when I know a massage therapist personally and have seen what it has done to her body. Ok... For starters, The massage was fine. My issue is with their craptacular gift card policy. So... A friend with a massage envy account gives my fiance and I gift cards. You would think since there's no expiration date, Said recipients would be able to get those massages. Oh wait, we did, but upon checkout discovered that since the gift cards were unused, they had been exchanged for product by the account holder(or possibly her daughter, the record was unclear). Wait up. So because I hadn't yet used a gift card, it can summarily be revoked without letting me know? And I have a feeling it was presented to her like "Hi! The receptionist are nice but they try hard to get you to commit to a year. The initial massage only costs $40 and the year commitment has you paying out $50/month. Any extra massage for that month is $40. If you didn't sign up then its $65 a pop each time you visit. I had Lanita for my massage therapist. She specializes on the back and neck. Highly recommended for those with back and neck problems. I have been a ME member for almost three years now. I received a gift card on Valentine's Day and decided to try a membership. I use my arms and shoulders often during my workday, and getting a massage can be very relaxing. I have watched this location evolve quite a bit, now offering a new stretching service, skincare products, essential oils, microdermabrasion, and more. I enjoy the new options available to me; I have purchased a few of the products myself. Today, their customer service was extremely impressive. The team has always been flexible with me, if I needed to change a time or day they were usually able to get it done. Employees are always able to advise me on the correct therapist for my needs. The massage itself has always been excellent. Today I had planned on getting my oil changed at a shop nearby before my massage appointment. Unfortunately, the shop took entirely too long and was pushing me close to my appointment time, which would overlap when the auto shop closed. The auto shop would need me to pick up my car before closing time, thus interrupting my massage time. I walked over to Massage Envy Southside and explained the situation. Even though it was out of my control, they would have to charge me for cancelling last minute. This was completely understandable, as now the massage therapist is missing work. They said they would try and give the appointment out to another person, but they would call and let me know if someone could take the appointment in my place. After ten minutes they called me and told me they would absorb the fee because it was out of my control. I greatly appreciated this, because this is true customer service. Thanks again Massage Envy! Massage Envy is an excellently priced place for a massage. My wife and I enjoyed a couples massage today - hers was all about relaxing, and mine was a deep muscle therapy massage. We were very pleased with both of our therapists, they were incredibly professional and accommodating. We went for a one hour massage and added a sugar scrub on the feet (wife) and the deep muscle therapy (me). We've had massages in a lot of different places for a much higher cost and this ranks among the best. The downside to Massage Envy is their sales pitch. They offer a massage membership, hoping you come back every few weeks, but my guess is that most people don't have the time or money to invest in bi-weekly massage therapy. It's nice - we love it! However, I wish they would just tell us about it, ask if we are interested, and then leave it alone. It's not awesome to leave a relaxing massage and then be hammered with a sales pitch afterwards - I just want to pay, go home, and relax on my bed! Desiree was great but that's about it... the front desk lady was not so friendly and seemed very frantic trying to multi task checking me out and answering the phone. Lobby was dirty, bug crawling on the floor. She tried to be secretive about it talking to the other guy up front but should've just been straight forward. Guy walked over with a paper towel and pretended to check inventory on the shelf while trying to kill the bug. Give me a break lol. Insulation is terrible, could hear everyone yelling up and down the hallway. Rooms are very outdated, air conditioning went on and off and was very loud. I was a member was a bit over a year. The service was fine. Recently, I discontinued my membership after poor experience with front desk person, Myla. The situation was worsened by Brittany, the manager in charge, who tried to characterize Myla's mistake as a "miscommunication". I don't recommend this location at all, based on that experience. Also, I do not like their policy of charging $10 for gifting a service to someone else. IMHO, that's a nickel-and-dime policy. Caveat Emptor! To be fair, the General Manager, Jeff, did call me back. We had a good discussion and Jeff gave me a free massage. However, the experience with the store management left very bad taste in my mouth and I decided not to continue my membership there. IMHO, the way the store manager handled the situation was poor customer service and not very ethical. She made very little effort to correct the situation. IMHO, neither Myla nor Brittany appeared to care that an existing customer was going to cancel the membership and was planning to write a review on social media. Also, if you look at their Facebook page, there are several "5*" reviews that are actually from employees who work there. However, they do not disclose that fact at all. I like going to massage envy when I don't need a really relaxing, deep tissue, full spa, and heeling type of experience. At massage envy going in expecting to get that kind of service is just not realistic and will kill your whole experience as I found out the first time I went after our cruise to the caribbean. I went in and filled out all their paperwork and releases, signed all the waiver's, which to me seemed rather odd as I have been to several spas and massage places before and never had to fill out so many papers or sign my "life away" to get a massage, anyways after I handed back the forms I first discussed with one of the lady's who worked up at the front as to what kind of massage I wanted and what areas I wanted my masseuse to focus on the most, then I was taken back to the room where my I would be getting my massage and met my masseuse and he again went over what type of massage I wanted and what areas I wanted him to focus on the most. I had my 1st visit today. I had to work out a bad muscle spasm. I went in thinking this will be soothing to the pain. But when going through with it, the massage was extremely painful! And it was not due to the masseuse who knew what she was doing-- that's just how bad the spasm was! I ended up getting what I would classify as a deep tissue massage. However, I am not sure that was truly one of those massages. The masseuse has me laughing and crying all at the same time! Laughing because there were some motions that actually tickled. And crying simply because of the pain I was in and then she was trying to work that pain out. I did like my experience. I will be heading back next weekend. But this time I am trying a different massage technique to see if perhaps I chose the wrong option for my needs. I never get massages, so for me this is trial and error. The only big bummer to me is the cost of the massages. After your 1st massage at an intro. Rate of $50, the next one jumps to $90, unless you become a member and pay monthly $60. For the monthly $60 you obviously have a better deal. But you have to commit 1yr. For folks like me who are looking for only a few sessions, this is not worth it. My son and I were going to Red Wing Shoes next door and I wanted to also check out Massage Envy as I have had back surgery and still having problems that my physical therapist told me I would benefit from a deep tissue massage. Since we were going to both, we parked in a space that said Massage Envy customers. We were not in Red Wing Shoes but a few moments when someone from Massage Envy put a leaflet with services on the car and didn't leave anything on any other car. They could see us as we left the car, me walking with a cane...note there were no handicapped parking spaces either. I went in and told them they didn't even give me a chance to come inside and that wasn't a nice thing to do. The girls up front were not nice and there was no manager available on a Saturday morning. When the front staff is not nice, you can bet I'm not going to get a massage. I am looking elsewhere especially after the news having all the stories about them across the country and the 2 girls behavior you can bet I will go elsewhere. Later that week I was called by them and told that they had reviewed the tapes and found that they booked me under the wrong name. Appointment re-booked for following Saturday. Friday evening at 8:30 pm, I get a call from Daniel saying that he is cancelling my appointment because they apparently made a mistake when booking. I have been a member for over a year and its well worth it! I have herniated disks in my neck so in order to stay loose and out of pain I need to get a massage every 2 weeks. For people who need massage like that...its a great deal! Normally u can't get a GOOD hour massage ANYWHERE for less $60 bucks plus at least a $10 tip! so for that first massage there's just a $10 savings. The deal comes if u get massages more than once a month....then its $40 for the massage and $10 tip. So in addition to about a $30 a month saving...u also accumulate points for every massage u get. Those points = money toward your massages. It seems like I'm getting something half price every month ot every other month at least. For u people who don't have health issues....massage is just a way to decrease stress and do something for yourself. Members have a "special" waiting area in the back and there's always cold water, hot tea, apples, granola bars and mints free of charge. I've found that Mike and Shannon are the best at the atlantic blvd location but really NONE of the therapists are bad! MEMBERSHIP ALERT!!!!!! I had a membership with massage envy for a few months. The massage Therapists were great! My experience with them was overall great until my medical condition worsen and I had to cancel my membership because I was told by my Doctor I couldn't continue any massage services or even Physical therapies. I called and spoke to various staff personnel Cara, Emily, Tracey. After having to explain my medical situation to everyone in the office. I submitted my cancellation request. Later I noticed they had charged my account after the cancellation was submitted. I went to find Emily sitting at the front desk and after I identified myself and explained the situation. Emily went about blaming her co workers for not processing the cancellation (which should have been immediate given the severity of my situation and the terms of the contract) she said she had been on vacation for several days and that she had just recently come back and saw my paperwork sitting on top of her manager's desk. She went on to explain that her manager Tracey was out of town that she would have to ask "someone" to see what we could do about the two charges in my account. Needless to say that out of the $120.00 that they charged my account only half was credited because all of the other choices were to either use the remaining credit in my account within three week period (which wasn't a choice because it goes against Doctor's orders) or transfer the credit to another member but then they would charge more $$ to transfer. Long story short. IT COST ME $60.00 to cancel my membership due to medical conditions plus the hassle of having to deal with the ENDLESS BLAMING AND POINTING FINGERS AT OTHERS.
