I was incredibly disappointed in my experience with Jennie today at my 3:30pm appointment. I have never been to Massage Envy before. I booked a 90 minute massage online, answered all of the questions, came 15 minutes early and answered the same questions again with the host. I explained that I came for a massage because of terrible migraines and wanted the masseuse to focus on my head. I chose a "firm" massage. The host encouraged me to have open communication with Jennie, and I was waiting for her to ask me how I felt, but not once did she ask me. After an hour passed and it barely felt like I was being touched at all, then she just started patting my head - I figured that would be a good time to speak up. I asked if I could have more pressure on my head because I'm coming for migraines, to which Jennie snapped: "I don't do that. I do light massage." She rubbed my head for a few minutes and then told me "thank you" and walked out of the room. I looked at my watch and realized I paid for a 90 minute massage and was only in there for 70 minutes. Then I came out to hear some nonsense from the host about how the masseuse recommends I come back in four weeks - how would she even know; she never communicated with me once. The only pressure I got in that massage was to buy a membership. I cannot believe the cost I paid for a less-than-mediocre job. Never again. read more

Please BE CAREFUL of this location. Management at this location DOES NOT care about the HEALTH and SAFETY of their staff or customers. I had an appointment and called same day 3 hours before my appointment to let them know that I was feeling ill and was going to get tested for COVID. They cancelled my appointment and charged me half my service and a fee. (I guess they expected me to come in) I'm so glad I did not go in that day because I was tested positive for COVID. Management requested a copy of my test for a refund. Val who is the district manager declined my request and mentioned their 5 hour policy. I will no longer be coming to this location anymore. Although I understand their policy, we're going through times where someone can get sick which can affect others. Massage Envy should be ashamed. Terrible management and terrible customer service. I'm shocked at how awful this location treats their members. I allowed them to try and make it right and cooperated but all they seem to care about is their unethical policy which SHOULD be revised. I come to this location every time Im in ny. The staff is super friendly and if they remember me they ask how is florida and blah blah. I go to Fran who is excellent. She could do any pressure. She does a better job than the spas I go to and spend lots on my service. Fran is probably the best at this location. She focuses on what needs to be fixed but if you just want a relaxing massage she will do it. read more

The worst Massage Envy location. It's very unfortunate that this is the only location on Staten Island. Management is terrible and they could care less about your service. You would think spending over 100$ for a service the front desk personnel or manager would ask how your service was. They're more concerned about fully booking their services for the day. I originally got the subscription on the recommendation of a close friend of mine who had a membership years prior because my knees had been bothering me and he had had a good experience with his knee pain there. I spoke to manager and she agreed to speak to the massage therapist I requested and call me back, but that never happened. I kept up with my payment for four months with the hopes to make appointments at a later time. It wasn't until I reached out to them on Facebook that they called me, even though I missed their call because I was at work managing my staff. But, luckily, I did receive and email and was able to make an appointment for the same week. The girls at the front desk were very nice. I am very grateful to to Matt who was able to work out knots I didn't even know I had in my shoulder area. He did wonders on my lower back, which had been sore and in pain for 3 weeks to the day because of a work injury. My back hasn't felt this relieved in a long time. NEVER AGAIN! You would think that an outfit this big would be more accommodating, but I guess not. A family member had a 30 minute massage booked for 6:15 pm today and was running 15 minutes late due to the severe weather on Staten Island. When we called to tell them this and that he would be there at 6:30, they informed us that his session "already started" and that he would only get to use whatever time was left which would have been 15 minutes. When I explained it was due to the severe weather and asked if they could let him reschedule the session, they said they could. But don't be fooled, because there was a catch. I was basically told that he could reschedule the visit, but because there was a 5 hour cancellation window, he would be responsible to pay for today's visit. So they basically told me he could forfeit the remaining 15 minutes he had today and pay the $65 for the visit anyway. So it would end up costing $130 for a 30 minute massage in the end. You would think that in today's economy, they would do their best to accommodate. Instead they made $65 but lost the business of 3 people in my household, plus today's tip. Makes perfect sense to me. read more

Absolutely DO NOT visit or try out Massage Envy on Staten Island (if you can even get an appointment). Worst customer service I've ever experienced and you can never get an appointment after your initial buy in. There are better ways to waste your money. Note* I have been a member of multiple Massage Envy's across the US and have always enjoyed my experience and membership. This establishment however, is no where near the quality or customer care as my previous experiences. Staff is rude, massages are nothing to write home about and the management follows suit. Even after I was finished, walking out the door, one of the sales people sat me down and said "your therapist said you need to come once a week so let's set that up". This is the worst spa I have been to. I had been going there for 2 years. They don't follow the rules as set by massage envy's website. They say when you sign up with them, they can change the rules. They charged me for sessions I cancelled within the time frame for cancelling without penalty. Also, they called me up numerous times to tell me my therapist would not be available and tried to get me to come in to see someone else. Even though I told the girl I would wait, she scheduled me, then charged me for a missed session. When I complained to corporate to get my sessions back, I got a call back from them and was told they would be refunding me for all my unused sessions and they were cancelling my membership as I was no longer welcome there. Very nasty people there, and they get nastier after you get nasty back. My advice: spend a little more and go someplace else. No sense in getting all relaxed, to get stressed out afterwards. I was given a gift certificate by a friend, that included a free 1/2 hour, but could only be used at this specific location where they purchased the card. I am a member at a Massage Envy in NJ, and enjoy my location very much. But I wanted to take advantage of the gift, so I booked an hour massage with the 30 minute upgrade. I arrived about 15 minutes early, knowing I would have to fill out paperwork, as it is not my regular location. I have visited many Massage Envy spas, and once that paper work was finished I was always shown to the quiet waiting area to start to relax before. I was not here. My massage therapist reviewed my areas that I would like to focus on, and off we went. I was lying in the table, and felt that it was a disjointed massage. He was going from neck/shoulders, the feet then back, then feet, some hamstring. No calm rhythmic feeling, that I have received in 40 + plus massages I have received in my lifetime. The therapist spent a LARGE portion of my time doing this, then told me to turn over for a very brief once over on my arms and lower legs. The room was extremely chilly, and having my arms be exposed made me even colder. I have never jumped up off a table so quickly after a therapist left the room after a massage. The front desk, did not ask how I would like to take care of paying and immediately used my membership credits, rather than the gift card I indicated when I checked in, that I would be using. Just feel that the aura, of the location is not calming. I am not trying to be hyper critical, but really feel some changes really could be made that would benefit customers, with a more peaceful visit. read more

STAY THE HELL AWAY! My therapist sandy didn't seem too happy with her job (maybe she should find employment elsewhere) her Massage was OK at best. My massage was suppose to start at 6:15 and it was for an hour. I got there a few minutes early because they are known for cutting it short and I wanted to get the full hour. HOWEVER, I received a 35 minute massage and was charged for a FULL HOUR. What a rip off. The women in the front was nice enough to offer a free enhancement next time ( there won't be a next time) but that's only worth $15. Guys don't waste your hard earned money at this location. If anything it's worth going over to Bayonne and going to the massage envy over there. I've had better experiences at that location. Another thing: I transferred one of my sessions to a friend and they charged a $25 transfer fee. They want you to pay all this money but they don't give you what you pay for. read more

I joined in April of 2018 and I am very happy with the services here. The front desk staff are professional and have a great attitude. The Massages are excellent here and the facials. I highly recommend this place if you want quality work And a warm and professional attitude. More places should follow their work ethic because they are an example of how and what a good business is supposed to be. read more

I like their manicure and facial treatments. I got a packages for everything and feel it certanly worth of spent money. don't understand why I hear so many bad reviews about this place. Anyway I glad I got found them. it wasn't too difficult cause they are located right next to my house )) but however for good quality treatments I am ready to go even to Sought Bronx ))) I've already made appointment for hair removal for tomorrow. This was my first time getting a massage and he made it a wonderful experience with his professionalism and hands of gold. I felt so much better and he focused on the areas I requested. I called and got a same day appointment. The staff was incredibly professional from the phone call to call the front desk to the massage therapist. 2 young men helped me at check in and my therapist was Clarissa who was amazing! I wasn't pressured to buy anything or to join their membership. I did join for the discount and due to my great first experience. I hope my experiences remain wonderful. I will update if I have any issues like the previous reviewers but I must say based on initial visit, they were wonderful! read more

My son and I had an appointment in March and my phone is ringing as I'm walking into the place to let us know that my sons therapist had a family emergency so he couldn't get his massage that day because they had no one else available. I had asked the manager that due to the inconvenience if there was something she could do for us and with her hands to the side by her hips and waving them, her words were "what do you want me to do about it, i have no control of her mother being sick", which was never the problem. The problem was the managers attitude about it so I canceled my membership right there and then and could kick myself because I really liked the place and got my sisters whole family to join and the manager had no customer service skills whatsoever Always appreciative of me bringing family members in and locking them into a years membership. They advised me I still had a session and a half left so today I transferred it to my son and the receptionist Britney went above and be on to make sure that there would be no problems with my son using my last massage because after the way the manager spoke to me in front of other customers, I just didn't want to walk back in there, so Britney made sure that my son could use it and I can't express enough how wonderful her customer service was to me. If everyone had the customer service of Brittany, I would still have my membership active. read more

I really enjoy my membership and have never gotten a bad massage. Different therapists have different specializations, it's important to be clear about your needs and expectations up-front. The way massage envy is set up they not only encourage this kind of dialogue, they require it. So if you're not used to asking for what you need in terms of pressure or areas you want the therapist to focus on, you're not gonna benefit as much. Before your appointment, think about where you need help the most. Also keep in mind that 60 minutes is a short period of time to cover the entire body. When I need both my hands and feet worked on, I book a 90 minute session to allow the therapist to dedicate enough time to these areas. read more

Inept front desk. Booked a massage and facial for my daughter and I at the same time weeks ago. Called to confirm and some how we were scheduled in different time slots. No apology for the mix up, just the comment "well I wasn't the one that booked your appointments". Also, when they can not answer the phone, you are welcomed with a message that tells you to leave a message and someone will promptly return your call...don't hold your breath because they NEVER call you back! I was a member here some years ago and did not renew. My issue was that I usually wanted to book 90 minute sessions and it was becoming increasingly difficult to get an appointment. On the occasions when I did get an appointment, the therapist would leave after 55 minutes. Twice this happened and management tried to tell me I had only booked 60 minutes. Since they obviously didn't want to provide 90 minute services and were totally OK suggesting that it was my error and not theirs, I stopped giving them my money. From the looks of most other reviews here, it seems they have not really learned anything about retaining a loyal clientele, nor do they care to. read more

To Whom It May Concern: I recently purchased a gift certificate for my sister. The gift was for a one-hour massage and included tax and a tip. It was $75.00. My sister has a severe case of neuropathy and I thought that she would probably use it for a reflexology massage. I just spoke with her and got a very upsetting report about her visit on Tuesday, June 5th. She said that the first thing that happened was that the people working at the front reception were incredibly rude to her. Then, she was told that her gift certificate entitled her to a massage and 1/2 hour reflexology treatment. I have no idea why she was told that. The massage itself was upsetting. She told the massage therapist (I think her name is Saskia or something that sounds like that) certain areas that should not be massaged. Felice has a great many physical challenges. The therapist chose to ignore her request and she was forced to physically move her hands away from areas that were in pain. Then the therapist began lecturing her on her diet. My sister is overweight and this is connected to her physical problems. Her body mass was not something that the massage therapist should have addressed without being asked to. The upshot was that Felice left your spa feeling emotionally and physically worse than when she came in. To top all of this off, she was charged $25.00! She is living on disability and this was money that was to go towards her living expenses. I will make every effort to spread the word about the terrible experience that this "spa" provided. read more

BEWARE! Once they have your credit card/bank info on file, it is almost impossible to get them to stop charging your account. AFTER the 3rd time they charge your card they call you to let you know. They make sure to call you after so you cannot put any hold on your account before they charge. You will never get a credit either, I can assure you. Couple this with constant rule changes, and this exprience continues to be a nightmare. They are still calling me telling me I never cancelled my account (which I did) and my account is going to be delinquent. Meanwhile they have 3 massages on my account I never used. I even told them to keep them when I cancelled! This is a massage parlor! You are supposed to be able to relax. I will be contacting my lawyer immediately following any deliquency on my credit from massage envy. You are much better off finding a different spa. read more

I came here with my girlfriend a few months ago for a couples massage. I got the deep tissue treatment, while she received a normal massage. I paid for an hour massage for each of us, and the massages only lasted 45 minutes. My next complaint is regarding my masseuse (I wish I could remember her name). I filled out a pre massage form, which states what body parts you want to be massaged and not touched, etc.. and she completely disregarded everything I included on that form. I was very skeptical that this was a deep tissue massage.. I even questioned it afterwards and the masseuse confirmed it was indeed deep tissue. This was my first massage so I didn't really have anything to compare it with.. until last week while I was on vacation in Jamaica and received a massage that blew this so called massage out of the water. In addition to my poor massage, my girlfriend had neck pain for months after getting her massage. This is not normal! I sent an email to management of my complaints and they responded by telling me I didn't pay for deep tissue. How can they say that when I clearly told them my masseuse confirmed it with me and my card statement says so. Horrible service and management. Wouldn't recommend to anyone. I wouldn't go back even if you gave me a free massage. I'm currently searching for a new place. read more

I've been a member for about a year now and I love having my monthly massage. I would say I've had a rotation of about 8 or 9 therapists and there is not one person that I was disappointed with. Staff are always very friendly, I can usually get an appointment when I want. I only had one instance where the therapist I scheduled was unavailable for my appointment after I booked it, but the staff quickly alerted me and set me up with someone else (same time and date). Even the extra add on enhancements are a treat, therapist today let me keep the extra lotion with the concentrated energizing boost serum I had added to my massage. read more

I am a current member and have been for several years. Over the years I've experienced several types of massages/facials with a variety of therapists and have narrowed it down to two favorites, one of which is leaving now. Overall I am very happy with my membership and staff is very friendly. The monthly membership is approx. $60 plus tax (tip excluded) and is a good value for people who will continue to get massages on a regular basis, otherwise your money may be better spent elsewhere if you only need a massage every few months, as nonmember prices tend to be on par with other high end massage places. Nonmembers can try is out for the member price for their first time and will be asked if they'd like to join after their session. Compared to other places, the member price is worth the benefits. Suggested tip is based on nonmember prices which is higher. You'll see signs posted for recommended amounts based on the % age you'd like to leave. Membership: I like having this membership and enjoy having a monthly massage. A good thing about the membership is that if you fall on hard times or cannot use the membership, the club will put a temporary hold (i think up to 3 months) on your account where you don't lose member status, but will not pay or earn massages until the hold has ended. You also earn a $1 per appointment that you make in advance after your session, that you keep. This can be used towards add-ons and products. The actual massage credits can be "banked" for future use, which is great of you can't make it one month, then you can have a longer massage later on. They don't expire. You can also transfer a massage to a nonmember for a $10 fee. Massage: Geri and Beth always do a great swedish massage. They have different techniques and always assess what is needed for each session. They do a great job of providing the best massage to suit my needs. It usually lasts a total of 50-55 minutes which I've experienced at other local businesses that offer similar services. Ive also had a hot stone massage by another therapist that was nice, but not worth the extra charge. The prenatal massage was nice and a good perk to have while pregnant. That did not cost extra. Facial: the facials I've experienced have been good, but I rarely pay the up charge because a massage is usually more important. I've had some great facials at other places, so this is not my first pick unless money is short and I can use one of my massage credits (already paid for). They use Murad products and are not pushy about purchasing them at the end. Add-ons/upcharge: you can add certain extras like aromatherapy, a foot scrub etc. They usually cost around $10. I tried the foot scrub and it was nice, but not so different from what you get from a pedicure. I have not tried any other add-ons. read more
