Throughout much of the session, she appeared to rest her hand on my head or neck without any meaningful movement or massage technique. Instead of feeling relaxed, I felt increasingly stressed and uncomfortable. I considered ending the session early, but I felt awkward about getting up and leaving. Immediately after the massage, I informed the front desk that I was unhappy with the service. The experience affected me so much that I had difficulty sleeping that night because I was so upset. I called the front desk the following day to further explain my concerns. I was told that everyone has a different experience with a massage therapist, which I understand. However, I have received many professional massages over the years, and this experience felt very different. It seemed as though the therapist was either disengaged, exhausted, or lacked the experience necessary to provide an effective massage. My wife has had a subscription with this Massage Envy location for several years and, over time, has accumulated multiple transferable credits. She typically transfers a credit to me every six months. Although her membership is month-to-month, she usually only comes in with me, and we're told the session is covered by her credits. On this occasion, we booked a couples massage only because we were explicitly told over the phone that her credit had been successfully transferred to my account. Based on that confirmation, we reasonably expected we would not be charged. Despite this, we were charged the full service price when we arrived. We explained the situation to the employee, and while she was apologetic, she advised that a credit was never transferred and she couldn't transfer one now so we were still charged for the service. I wish I could say that the service was great at least but unfortunately, the service itself was also disappointing. I requested a full-body massage with no specific areas of focus, yet approximately 70% of the session was spent on my back. I was never turned over so the therapist could work on the rest of my body. After the couples massage, my wife also mentioned that her therapist completely missed one of her legs. Tends to be 50/50 with this location on the type of service you get. I've had perfect days there with super friendly staff at reception, and amazing services on top. I've had other days where they are borderline rude, and the service felt like it was someone who never even had schooling or training. It sits steady at a coin flip to what type of experience I would have. I have been a member off and on over the past decade. I was also a regular member at diamond bar and La Verne locations. I was also an employee in Pasadena - so I've been a ME member for about 20 years. One thing that I find most disheartening as a member experience is that they don't always answer the phones. And don't tend to have as much openings for massages as previously. I guess that's a good thing for them, business must be booming. They just raised prices - which makes sense I guess; gotta do it every now and then - but, I just can't spend $100/ month (after gratuity) when services aren't 100% or close to it. First of all, let's not start a session with, "Shit, I'll be back." Secondly, you are about to put your hands on me; therefore, don't shove me in a corner as if I'm a sick child. During the interrogation of where I needed attention, she wasn't even listening to me and was getting angsty. Now, let's begin the session. I understand the allotted time for me to change in and out of my clothes, but I was lying there for over 5 minutes! I know this was probably not the first thing Nanci wanted to do in the morning: her job! I, too, do not enjoy working in the early morning, but guess what? It's an obligation to service! I've experienced subpar massages, but this one doesn't just take the cake; it throws it back at you. This was the most rushed and uncomfortable deep-tissue experience I have ever had during my time with Massage Envy. I empathize with you, Nanci. I work in hospitality and deal with other humans, but I do it with a smile, which you should try occasionally. You just might earn your tip, which I regretfully did nonetheless. Everyone is allowed a bad day, but keep that turd to yourself. The person I feel the worst for is the lovely lady at the front desk who had to listen to this complaint and report it to her manager to call me back. They have a policy to stop medication and topical retinol a week before a facial, so I called to see which actives the esthetician would be using in case it would be harmful with the medication I use topically and orally for hormonal acne, which isn't an active or a retinol. Front desk couldn't tell me which actives the esthetician uses but assured me it would interfere with my medication and basically just shut me down and said I can't come in for my facial. Spoke with my derm, turns out there's no active that would interfere with my medication. I went the first week they opened and took advantage of the introduction special. The massage was nice and the staff was really friendly. There's a girl at the front desk that always greats me by name - its a really nice touch. I have since become a member and have been going back monthly. I skipped a month so that I can split it for 90 min massages. I find that 60 minutes just isn't enough. The staff is nice, and the massage is as good (if not better than the big fancy places). Granted you don't get all the extras, but I never use that stuff anyways. It took me 3 visits to find someone that had the perfect pressure and technique, so make sure you try a few people to find that perfect massage, you can then book with that person in the future. Here's how this place works you set up an hour appointment for "let's say 1 o'clock" they bring you back 10 minutes early to wait and you sit there and you sit there and you sit there they come to get you either at exactly 1 o'clock or most of the time five minutes after 1, then they take you to the room and then spend 3 to 4 minutes asking questions then they say "well get undressed and I will be right back", five minutes later they come back. I am now at 45 mins for my massage if your counting.. massage stops 5 mins before the hour is up, that way you can get dressed so I paid $80 for a one hour massage and get 45 minutes, and this was a regular ongoing occurrence I mentioned it a few times to the front desk they just said "huh", or just asked me how I was going to pay today, I canceled my membership yesterday.. read more

Insinuating that customers are lying about being informed about a cancelation fee "because there are detailed notes from my employee stating that they informed you" is not a good look.
