I found Doug here on Yelp and was looking for someone nearby. I found his bio interesting and figured it would be worth a shot. I filled out the requisite form with health information, etc and we then proceeded with the massage. The massage room was neat, clean and the music was relaxing. I indicated some tension in my upper back and shoulders as well as a desire for some work on my face as I'm recuperating from Bell's Palsy. I don't know the technical terms for specific techniques that may have been used - what I do know is that the massage was wonderful and relaxing; that Doug paid attention to my spoken and unspoken reactions and gave particular attention to the areas that I mentioned. By observing my breathing and working on my body he correctly deduced some specific exercises i do and that I meditate regularly. In conversation, we learned that we have some friends and interests in common. I'm looking forward to my next visit which is already scheduled. read more

Doug was a very nice guy but the approach wasn't for me. First off, He was 25 minutes late to our appointment. He sent a text saying he was running 5 minutes late but then it was way beyond that. I would have cancelled just based on timing., It made me so rushed! His office was cluttered therefore not giving me the calm massage vibe. He style of massage is to apply deep constant pressure without the rubbing or kneading. It was not painful but I think I am more of a traditionalist. read more

Doug Turet does very gentle, but very effective massage. I have gone to massage at various places for years, and have learned that gentle is much more effective than hard for what I need, including arthritis and fibromyalgia. I first met Doug when he was a student at the late lamented Teoma Center Massage Center. He immediately stood out from other students as being gentle and patient, yet achieving much better results. He is very professional and correct. This is massage the way it should always be. I love Massage Horizons and will continue as a regular patron. He can do various types of massage and will vary it according to a patient's needs, but it is rare to find a masseur who can consistently be patient over knotted muscles and gently un-ravel the knots into wellness. The place is clean and carefully sanitized, and Doug practices careful masking and Covid -related hygiene. The ambience is very pleasant, with calm music and dim light. Very relaxing, and healing. I am not really sure what happened with Paul and his experience because I have known doug for over a year and I have never had that experience with him. He is nothing but loving , caring and thoughtful with everyone he interacts with. He truly can heal anything you have going on. The possibility of being free from pain is what Doug give you. I have been working with him for over a year and he has been truly amazing! I suffered from back and shoulder pain and from consistently going to him, I felt much better!! Not only is he amazing with his touch but also his mind is so powerful and it is great to have conversations with him and feel relief from my pain !!! I am also a nurse at Brigham and Women's Hospital and always refer him to my patients who come in with pain and medication or surgery cannot resolve and before surgery is done I always tell them to go see Doug!! I really enjoyed my massage. Doug's approach is very different, incorporating breathing techniques and stretching into a deep tissue massage. If you are in pain, or have just general tightness, I would definitely visit here rather than another massage place that doesn't customize the massage to your needs. I received a massage for Doug two weeks ago today and I still am at a loss for words for how to describe how wonderful an experience it was! This was my first massage ever - EVER - but the Boston Marathon had injured my IT band and I needed help asap. Doug was BEYOND wonderful. He made me feel extremely comfortable and treated me with the utmost respect. He not only gave me an incredible massage - seriously, there are no words - but he took the time to explain everything he was doing to me, what muscles did what, and why I was having pain. The earlier reviews do not lie - his massage is completely gentle but it is a deep tissue massage. Zero pain!! I cannot stress that enough. He is incredible, he has a real gift. I sincerely recommend him and cannot wait for my next appointment. Five stars!! (One note in regards to price: he accepts my insurance so I do not know what his regular hourly rate is. This Guy is a whack job. I called him to get a massage, he said he was in Middleboro at " jam session" practicing his drums with "his band" and could be in Norwood in an hr, that was at 12:30 pm. I let him know that I would get back to him after his "jam session" was over, knowing that he would not get back to Norwood in an hr. I called him back in an hr, he didn't answer, then called me back, said that he had another apt down the street in Norwood and could see me at 7:30. I called him back, he didn't answer, I left message to let message that I would see him at 7:30. I took a nap, set my alarm, and had 4 nasty messages when I turned my phone on, saying he was waiting and didn't appreciate being stood up, and he wanted an ETA of my arrival. I texted him that I wasn't interested in coming in and to please not contact me. He texted back and left 2 messages that he was driving back from Middleboro, I guess it was the same "jam session", he didn't know if the office was even open, and his time was precious, but that he'd meet me there. "I'm right on this and couldn't wait to go see if he was there", maybe the office is "open". This guy has definite issues and should seek help. Very odd individual, he looks odd in his picture, I thought I'd give him the benefit of the doubt, what another write said about him being 30 min late definitely runs true and he definitely is a whack job, stay clear. read more
