After opening the door, without any greeting, we were told "you're looking for the salon down the street not here." We responded we have an appointment here. The lady continued to insist that it wasn't there it was down the street. We insisted we had an appointment card for this location but she insisted it wasn't here nor do they take walk ins. I insisted it wasn't a walking in as we tried to look for the appointment card. But the lady left her client came to the door, opened it and pointed us out towards the direction of the salon she was referring to. I became furious because it automatically hit me, it didn't matter if we had an appointment or not they didn't want us there. I let them know it's called being racist, found the appointment card and left it with them. Apparently without the friend our business wasn't welcomed and neither were we.

If you make a 5 o'clock appointment, your massage doesn't start till 515 and it ends at 6:15 because they allow you 15 minutes to wind down and enjoy some tea They have monthly memberships and their prices are extremely fair I was supposed to have one girl give me a massage, but she had to leave early with an emergency and they gave me somebody else. The vibe, feel, idea, decor and staff friendliness would all be a five star rating. My husband says his massage was five stars. However, my massage was a one star. She pulled on my toes and my fingers and that was not pleasant, she massaged my scalp so hard that I got an Indian burn on my head from my hair and her fingers. She forgot my name, and I really just did not enjoy my massage. I really wanted to love this place as we were looking for a new place to do memberships. Unfortunately, we are doing our memberships for the next six months at another spa. Perhaps we might come back and give this place another try after our six month membership is up at the other place and I would request a different therapist.

I'm disappointed that the spa's policies and management get in the way of real relaxation. When I visited on Aug 15, I asked the assistant manager Zoe to help me freeze my membership. Zoe explained that I could freeze the membership for up to 3 months, and that I'd be charged a $10/month maintenance fee. She then promised to waive the $10 fee since I was such a frequent customer. She explained that I'd receive an email with a form to sign about freezing my account. I was due to be billed on Aug 20, so Zoe explained that I would not be billed since the freeze had been initiated. I never received the form, and on Aug 20, Hand & Stone tried to bill me. I immediately called and re-explained the situation to be told that Zoe had left no record of freezing my account. The receptionist promised to place me on the manager's call list. On the 21st (today), the spa tried to bill me again. I called and was placed on a 15-minute hold. Finally the phone was answered by Brooke, the spa manager. I explained the situation, and she did have notes from the Aug 20 conversation with the desk attendant. However, Brooke explained that since the billing date had passed, I either had to a) pay the bill, or b) cancel the membership and forfeit my 4600 rewards points (which would've remained intact if I had been allowed to freeze). Though I've never missed a payment and have been a loyal customer for the past year, she could not do anything else for me. I decided to cancel. I should not be penalized for a staff member's negligence when I attempted to follow the proper procedure. I do not want to return.

They took a especially good care of my niece, as this was her very first time getting salon nails. And though we had a small hiccup with the gel builder application by the first technician, the owner quickly took over and resolved it before I even had to say a word! THAT is stellar service! Facials aren't exactly something most men rush to book. But honestly, it felt like the complete opposite of shaving -- instead of scraping and roughing up the skin, the masks and gentle scrubs smoothed everything out. My skin felt clean, soft, and refreshed in a way I didn't even realize I needed. The head spa was a whole experience on its own. They started with a slow, relaxing head massage, then shampooed and washed my hair with such care it almost put me to sleep. They applied a scrub mask afterward to clear out any dead skin -- it felt incredibly refreshing. One of the coolest parts was the halo ring they use -- it gently sprays water over your scalp in a way that's so calming it's hard to describe until you've felt it.
