I purchased two of the $99.00/ 90 minute massages. I gave them as gifts to my daughter and son-in-law. He had been deployed for 11 months and I thought it would be a wonderful date night once he returned. My daughter called and made an appointment for a 90 minute massage for both. When they arrived, they were told they would only get 60 minutes and that she should've checked her email. They also said you could use the remainder of the cost to choose an optional service. They reluctantly chose hot stones. They were then told they don't do hot stones. Please beware of the of the specials. They change your appointment without proper notifications. They were more stressed leaving than when they arrived due to the very poor front desk Service. This was on June 11 at 4:30 PM. Terrible front desk customer service.. she completely ruined their date night due to the smug way they were treated. I was very embarrassed of this gift. Upon walking into this establishment(for the first time) there was absolutely no one to greet us on arrival(I'm very big on customer service sorry)! After finally getting assistance the owner came and introduced herself and showed us to the lounge area; in which hot tea or bottle water was offered complimentary to us. The establishment was very clean and therapeutic in multiple ways. I smelled essential aromas throughout. We didn't wait long at all in the lounge before we were escorted to the room where our couples massage would take place. Things begin to get a little interesting. I will apologize ahead of time and say I did not catch my masseuses' name(she was a short-Caucasian woman; a little on the heavier side(which ain't nothing wrong with it cuz babyyyyy I'm not a skinny Minnie myself)! Both therapists explained everything to my significant other and I and then left to let us undress. All good so far!!!My masseuse that I described above had the perfect pressure going overall, but I did not like the fact of rubbing a few seconds then switching to the next body part. I stay getting massages and I have never had someone who did what I experienced here. Rub rub rub, cover up, then move to the next section. Let me also say we started face up which rarely happens, but I went along with it. This is the kicker; she coughed the entire time we were being serviced! I mean constantly coughed(couldn't catch her breath LITERALLY) stopped to get water, cough and so forth. At this point she should've just stepped out and regrouped or went to the owner and saw about a fill-in or something. Yes we all cough I get it, but during a session is totally different. Another issue was she chew gum in my ear the entire time; mind you there's nothing therapeutic about SMACKING! Had I said anything I would've been the problem right? This was a nice gesture my guy surprised me with after just returning home from losing a family member and wasn't NOTHING relaxing or comfortable about my session. Right is right and wrong is wrong. I may give a lot of reviews but look no further for your message needs. Wow. Just wow. Chris was my message therapist and he is BY FAR the best message therapist I have ever had in my life. I asked for deep tissue and he delivered. Having several issues and the worst being my shoulder pain, he somehow worked his magic to make the pain almost disappear. I have always resigned to being with chronic pain but leaving there was the first time I felt good!! However, what made the overall visit wonderful is that when I walked in, the receptionist was very lovely and pleasant, they gave you water (not the tiny bottles), and the service was hands down fantastic. Hi All, I have booked an appointment in MassageLuxe Chesapeake on October 16th 2023 at 7:00 PM EST. At 6:00 PM EST someone called me from the MassageLuxe and informed that one of their massage therapist quit the job and I have to reschedule the appointment. They have reschedule my appointment to today which is October 24th, 2023. Due to busy day I missed to inform them to reschedule my appointment and based on their 2 hours policy they have deducted $120 from my credit card. I am not saying that its not my fault, yes I forgot to inform them to reschedule my appointment. I am writing this to those customers who are busy and booking their massage appointments with MassageLuxe Chesapeake make sure when they call and inform you to reschedule the appointment one hour before they don't have any policy to give that customer a free massage service in the next session because its their fault, but if the customer is busy or have any emergency at home and some how that person missed to reschedule/cancel the appointment they will charge your credit/debit card. No matter if someone is dying in your family make sure you call them first and cancel the appointment. They took my money without giving me any service because I forgot to cancel/reschedule my appointment, that clearly stated they don't care about their clients. First time here. Received a massage today for myself and my cousin as her birthday gift. I was a little nervous about the poor reviews this place received, however, I figured I would give them a try after seeing a special they were advertising on Facebook. The special offered a hour long massage or an hour long facial for $38. The moment we walked it we could tell that we were headed into a good direction. Jamel at the desk was extremely welcoming and professional. He provided us with tablets in order to take our spa surveys. When I went to retrieve water from the counter in the waiting room he quickly and kindly instructed me to just sit down and relax while he retrieved it for me. My cousin and I upgraded for the couple's massage which was perfect. Eve and Jarrett conducted our massages with great detail. They made sure we were comfortable. Jarrett (for whom I had) had great transitioning techniques and Eve was so great that my cousin continuously got caught snorring! I had the deep tissue massage and she had the swedish. I purchased a gift card for my 75 year old mother as a birthday present and they conned her into signing up for a monthly service using my credit card that they claim has to remain on file for some strange reason. Once my mother realized that none of the services she requested were either available of covered by this sham of a service she wanted to cancel, however, the employees and the manager claim they were powerless to do anything about it. This is not a luxury spa. If that's what you're looking for, I wouldn't recommend it. If you're looking for a place to get a relaxing massage or a facial, this is a great choice. Their extended hours make them extremely convenient and their prices are reasonable. Don't be afraid to ask for a suggestion. If you prefer a male or female or someone who uses firmer pressure, for example, just ask. They really want you to enjoy your experience. They also have memberships. If you miss one month, they roll it over to the next month. Some spas are use it or lose it. They also have a massage bed called aqua massage (or something like that) that members can use as often as they want. Sometimes I run in after a tough day at work for the 10-15 minute refresher. Make sure that they don't unknowingly talk you into signing up for a monthly consultation like they did my wife and I. They will take $65 out of your account every month until you realize it and then if you ask for a refund (for multiple massages that were unknowingly paid for and never used) you will not get one. I'm not even sure where to start here. So I have an appointment starting at 1:30, I am inside waiting at 1:34 give or take. I am few minutes behind, stuff happens, and I'd already filled out my forms they emailed me several hours earlier which cover skin conditions, sensitivities, medical status, I.e. pregnancy/breastfeeding. Now the day prior I was called by a nice young lady to confirm my appointment and at this time I asked if I would be able to bring my baby, who I knew would sleep through the appointment in his car seat because surprise surprise, my husband ended up having to work. Otherwise, I'd have to reschedule. Which I didn't mind doing whatsoever. The woman confirming my appointment told me it wouldn't be a problem, so I'm thinking great. I really need this. I've been beyond stressed and exhausted. I have 2 other children and an 8 1/2 week old so I'd been looking forward to using my membership. This isn't my first time here, it isn't my first time getting a massage with massage luxe or facial and it certainly isn't my first time having a membership here. It was however, my first time being asked in the lobby of this location or anywhere for that matter and in front of another customer and another employee who'd just walked in and the therapist who'd be working on me if I'd had a vaginal birth/c-section and how old my baby was and had I been cleared by my doctor. Now I'm aware of the implications in receiving a massage in the immediate postpartum weeks after birth. Increased circulation, blood clots blah blah blah. I know this. And let me just preface this by stating, I am a brown woman. I was NOT dressed professionally. I am covered in tattoos, have piercings and my hair is violet right now. I am, however, a professional. In every sense of the word. I have never been more insulted or humiliated. The gross violation of my privacy(hello PHI) in the lobby of this establishment was unfounded. I FELT the microaggressions. So it's 20 minutes into my massage time, this woman took her time calling her manager to "make sure" I can bring my sleeping baby in the service, then questions me in the lobby. So I say to her, " you know I was told this was okay, it's evidently not so I will go ahead and cancel this appointment and my membership as well." I'm not going to be spoken down to at a place where I am paying to be at peace, find some calm, and relax. Even more so than that, this *receptionist* who is NOT a medical professional wrote in her notes about this interaction, that I came in with an "attitude" and that my baby was very clearly a newborn to imply that I was lying about his age and justify her actions. Both assumptions were in fact false and the fact is, this individual took it upon herself to decide this without any knowledge of the policy in her place of business. Made me extremely uncomfortable. And wasted the few hours of time I finally set aside for myself. I've never received this line of questioning here, and I've never been spoken to like this. Had they(the receptionist/therapist) read the screening documents required for the service which I filled out within their timeline, all of their questions would've been answered. You know, which is the ultimate purpose of these documents. Now the therapist did say he didn't mind the baby coming in, and it was ultimately up to the therapist if the baby was allowed to come in, but get this. Yes there's more, before all of this, this woman checks me in! THEN she tells me, but the baby can't go back in the service with you. ??? Like what are you asking me to do here? Leave him somewhere? You checked me in, you stated you checked me in. ???? 0/10 Do not recommend. read more

Usually I wouldn't go to big corporate chains but I had a gift card. I requested a deep tissue because I'm sore and tight. Nope...I had some skinny kid who barely touched me. I am pretty sure he just graduated because he did not seem familiar with the anatomy of the body or comfortable in his craft. Was all very awkward and the opposite of relaxing. I almost walked out, kept thinking of what excuse I could use in order to end it then and there. I cringed at the touch of his thin, icy fingers lightly grazing my body. It was the pressure equivalent of putting on lotion. I am very dissatisfied. At check out, not only did they not try to make things okay, but they tried to sell me more stuff! There was loud, raucous laughter throughout. Even a knock on the door halfway through because the massage therapist accidentally pushed some emergency button neither of us seemed aware of. Really not happy with this location right now. I had scheduled an appointment at 5 and they called me the day of asking if I can come in at 4:30 instead because they are trying to schedule someone else after me. Because of where I work and traffic it's hard to tell if I could or not so I told them I could try but it wouldn't be a guarantee. The receptionist I spoke to, Jen, said that was no problem and to not worry about it. But my appointment was still changed to 4:30. I got a text and knew I wouldn't be able to make it earlier than my original appointment time at 5, and wanted to know if I would still get my full hour that I had scheduled because I would still be on time for the appointment that I, myself, scheduled. They told me no because someone else was booked after me. So they really expected me to pay the full price for a shortened massage even though I'm still on time for the time I wanted, because they decided all of a sudden they'd move me and book someone else? Not okay. Now I have to burn through whatever credits I have left just so I never go back to this place or spend more money, I'd rather just get refunded and not go back anymore. I usually don't get upset and leave reviews, but this whole situation was just messed up in my opinion. Not to mention the last time I was in, even though I was on time, the massage therapist was not, and I was given a shorter massage, even though I was not on time? I blew it off, it happens, whatever. Now in recent weeks a new manager has come in and is refusing to honor the gift cards that they sold. I was promptly escorted back to a waiting room to fill out some paperwork on an ipad and the ipad was absolutely worthless. It never loaded up. In any event, I waited in the waiting room for over 30 minutes without a single word from any one at the parlor and so I promptly left.
