I had a good experience last week. I finally got around to scheduling my Christmas massage (it's almost Oct of the following year) and I was able to book online according to my schedule which I liked. It was a 10 min conversation about what hurt and did I have a sensitivity and what did I use for pain? Over the next 50 mins she did a deep tissue massage which I feel like is what I received. I even explained my feet are ticklish and she avoided them. They did try and sell me their massage club thing which I declined (took me 9 months to schedule a Christmas gift for crying out loud) no way I could commit to the club. I've been to MassageLuxe several times for massages and facials. I felt compelled to write a review about the massage I received this last visit because I thought about it for days, and not in a good way. The massage was borderline violent. Every move was done so quickly. In previous massages, it's slow and steady repetition. This one felt rushed and was not in the LEAST bit relaxing. Normally I feel as if I can fall asleep, but I was alert and tense the whole time. I purchase the massage voucher every Black Friday because they're such a good deal, and unfortunately I used it on this massage that I speak of...and it was a complete waste. The female masseuse I had was truly terrible, and again, it was borderline violent how she massaged me. It's making me reconsider continuing purchasing the Black Friday special every year because of how bad the massage was. Was never able to schedule an appointment when needed. Asked for cancellation of my auto bill in May. Still being charged in August. They said they never received my signed form. They had done their "due diligence" by sending the form so they charged my account for 3 months and did not return anything because of their due diligence. She did not apply much pressure, even after I asked for a firmer pressure. She did not spend any extra time on the areas that I explained were bothering me. I was not relaxed at all. I recently signed up for their massage club. They didn't tell me that it would be hard to get an appointment due to Covid problems. When I called in I was told I could get an appointment late on a Sunday night or a month out. The person I talk to at MassageLuXe told me that they would email me with my next appointment and that never happened. When I came in to cancel my membership as I was sitting there waiting for the manager I heard appointments being given out in the next few days to people. I called the home office to talk to somebody left several messages messages and no one ever called me back- I have paid for three massages and I was told I have to have the massages within a two-week time frame. All three massages which is very inconvenient for me. I would not do business with these people. After my massage they're done I'm gone. Not satisfied. read more

I have been a member of Massage Envy before so in comparison to that, Massage Luxe is much more reasonable. My first 60 min massage was at a discounted rate (online special) plus they offered the waterjet massage bed for 15 mins afterwards. Their contract is very reasonable and you don't feel locked in at all. I was planning to use the bed everyday (walk-ins!) until Covid-19. I work for a hospital and my shifts were changing. Kyla helped me tremendously via phone/email to meet my changing needs. I never received that much help from Massage Envy. My sister and I went for massages for the first time at Massageluxe. I requested the deep tissue massage for myself and the hot stone massage for my sister. My massage with Jessica was amazing! She honed in on my bad spots, which was just what I needed. My sister was not impressed with the hot stone massage. She said there was hardly any pressure, but was relaxing. Next time she wants a deep tissue massage. We both got to try the hydroluxe bed after our massages....that was fabulous too! The price for my massage was $48 and the hot stone was $62! Well kept, very clean place with a nice staff. Incredibly relaxing atmosphere and a good massage if you only need to relax. Unfortunately my massage therapist did not seem very well trained. She wasn't bad, but not what is to be expected from a spa-like experience when you go for specific needs/services. They charge extra for any kind of specialty massage. I was supposed to be getting what they call a "trigger point" massage for specific areas and pains in my back. The massage I received was nothing more than a formulaic standard massage that can be gotten at any Asian walk-in massage spot for much less. When I informed the nice woman at the front that what I received wasn't what I asked/paid for, she did offer an "introductory rate" with a "better therapist" for my next one, all while she charged for the specialty massage that I was saying I didn't receive. A place this nice should have all staff well trained and should all know what they offer and what you are paying for. If any staff are new or at a point where you are told afterward that they suggest someone "better" next time, then they shouldn't be offering the same services from that person. If you have specific needs I'd recommend going to a massage therapist at a chiropractors office 100% of the time. If all you want is nice atmosphere and a place to relax then enjoy Massage Luxe. I would not recommend it for anyone with back pain or in any type of injury recovery like myself. read more

Amazing massage for the value. I've gone to several places in town and many are over priced for the quality and some are too pricy even for a great massage. This is a perfect balance of affordable and a legit awesome massage. Mike was my therapist and he did a great job checking the pressure and giving me what I need-deep tissue, lots of pressure. The facilities are beautiful, relaxing and clean. The membership packages are a great deal and come with daily trips to the hydro bed. While nothing could compare to Mike's work, the hydro bed was relaxing and I will be stopping in for visits between massages. read more

I do not recommend this place at all. I have made 2 facials appointments, weeks apart and they cancled on me. And my massage that I got talked into to replace my cancled facial was not great at all. Now today I called to make an appointment for a facial but due to covid they are no longer doing them. Which i totally understand but they will not cancel my account with out losing $65 I have already paid. If your not offering the service in your contracted I signed then you should refund my money I paid for that service. But they will not refund it. When you cancel make sure you save your cancellation copy or they keep charging you monthly if you don't check your card and they will tell you that they don't have anything on their file of any cancellation. I've had multiple massages at this place and I didn't feel any better when I walked out of any of them. Every time I have visited I've given different therapists a chance, but none of them have done a very good job. Therapists here do not listen to your requests and do not understand how to customize the massage for your needs. The last one I purchased, a few weeks ago, was the worst one I've had out of the 3-4 total that I've tried. The "massage" I got was hardly anything more than a back rub...definitely not a massage. The first time I visited, I was also tricked into purchasing a membership, and by tricked I mean the employee wrongly explained the terms of the membership to me and I ended up paying double the amount that I was told I would have to pay, despite me asking clear questions before agreeing to the membership. One of the massages that I got here, I was also cut significantly short on my time. The employees also generally lack any kind of warm welcoming/friendly nature, on top of everything else! This place was definitely a waste of my money and time--I'm not sure why I gave it so many chances! read more

I have gone here for a deep tissue massage every other week for the last two years. Is every therapist deserving of a rave review? No, and I would like to find the business in any city that has all outstanding employees. I found Jontae in Springfield and I book one month ahead each visit to be certain that I get her. She is amazing and I am happy as a lark! Not every therapist gives deep tissue massage, so be sure to ask for one. If you aren't sure who is the best for your problem, ask them and they can make recommendations. I have a monthly membership, and have never had problems. If you are unable to get there to use the sessions you have bought, they save them for you. If you cancel your membership, you have 60 days to use what you have accumulated. You can also freeze your account for a whopping $5/month. When you resume your membership, you can use all the massages that you had in your account. I have gift cards. Some I have straight out purchased and there is no expiration date. Some I have gotten as a perk for buying gift cards during one of their promotions. They do expire and you haven't spent a penny on them. It is a gift from the business for purchasing the non-expiring gift cards. This is explained in detail upon purchase. It would help customers if they printed a brief explanation when the promotions are going on. Obviously people are confused and are bashing them for not honoring their gift cards. It is true that there aren't always openings available for the same day. It's because they are good. You can almost always get one for the next day. If you are in that much pain, you should consider going to the prompt care. The facility itself is always spotless and very relaxing and each employee has always been kind. When calling, you can be put on hold for quite some time and this can get frustrating. They alway serve the people at the counter first, and that can entail payment and rescheduling. The service that you pay for is a bit confusing. A one hour massage is really one hour of room usage and probably a 50 minute massage. During that hour, you are given time to undress and get on the table, get your massage, get off the table and get dressed and they have about two minutes to change sheets. It's a bit dishonest and disappointing. I believe it is a corporate business and the local businesses have to schedule accordingly. All in all, it is a wonderful experience. I think the confusion with clients would be alleviated by giving them a single description with exactly what they have purchased and what to expect. Pamphlets can get overwhelming or ignored by some people. They could give a paper explanation to take home and have the customer sign on the computer, saying that they received it and understand. read more

Beware of the contracts that Massage Lux attempts you to sign up for!!!!!!! You are charged monthly and can accrue hrs if you don't use ur monthly massage! However.....try to cancel your monthly charge!!! I used up my hrs before Aug 16, and told them I was through and was canceling! Lo and behold I was charged AGAIN in Sept!!!! I called early and was told a supervisor would call me back! Around 8 in the evening I received a call from the supervisor stating that they couldn't give me my money back!! I explained that I assumed no more charges should appear since I had cancelled in Aug... she said that I had to SIGN a paper to cancel! When I told her that no staff had given me a piece of paper to sign, she said that it was in my contract, and I should have known that....she said to come in the next day and cancel for the next month! I went the day after, and told the girl that I wanted to sign the paper to release me from the contract, and she said I couldn't!!!!! Since I still had an hr to use up for Sept, I'd lose that massage if I cancelled!! I told her in no uncertain terms that I wanted to cancel, and I'd better not lose the already charged hr of massage. I really wanted to like this place. Upon arrival I was impressed with the facility, very "zen" and relaxing music, complimentary beverages and quiet relaxation room. This was my first time at the location and I booked a 90-minute deep tissue massage on a Saturday afternoon. I was promptly called back at my appointment time, was led by my therapist to a room that still had the dirty sheets from a previous guest. The therapist was very apologetic and quickly changed the sheets. So okay, not ideal but not a deal breaker. I was given time to change and lay on the table. The therapist did not come back for what felt like forever. Finally she returns and begins the "massage." I am sorry, I can more aggressive apply lotion to my own back. The massage lacked structure and there was no technique during any part of this. After what felt like short while I was asked to flip to my back, which I thought was quick for a 90 minute service but it was possible I had lost track of time. Then I am massaged while on my back in the same non-focused poor manner as on my stomach. All of a sudden I am informed that our time is up and the therapist leaves the room. I look at the clock and only an hour had passed!? At this point I was over this experience and just got dressed. I did inform the front desk of my experience and was offered a discount for my service. Which is appreciated but at this point of my experience necessary. The lack of attention to the detail and the poor quality of service left me so disappointed I will never return. They market themselves as a cost conscience choice but given my experience I would say the marginal savings is in no way worth it. Bottom line: Stay away. read more

There is only one experienced massager, most of them seem like they just graduated with no experience. 2 of my massages were by people who had no idea what they were doing and I wonder if they even graduated. They had a great beautician but she left and was replaced with someone that feels like she has no experience in facials. I joined MassageLuXe in February in the hopes of establishing with a good massage therapist for monthly deep tissue massages. My first experience was a very good one, nice atmosphere, good massage, fairly reasonable (although you are expected to tip the massage therapist on checkout and their suggested gratuities are pretty steep -- 20% or more). I rescheduled with the same therapist, only to be called 1/2 hour before my second massage and was told she was not there that day. Rescheduled for the next week, they called again and scheduled me for later that same day with a different massage therapist. Long story short, in 6 months, they reassigned me to 4 different therapists. Different excuses every time, car trouble, pregnancy issues, flu, poison ivy, just "sick" or "not here today". The place is fine if you only need an occasional relaxation massage, but if you truly need massage therapy for chronic back/extremity pain, forget it. The manager is suffering from terminal perkiness, and does not seem to be a good people manager. Staff changes constantly. read more

So, I will say that my bad experience was my fault, in that I should have listened to the reviews both on Yelp and Google... But, since my friend likes this place and because I am a teacher who can't afford a $80+ at a higher rated salon, I decided to take my chances with their $48 new-customer massage price. I called to get a deep tissue massage since I have been struggling with severe lower back and thigh pain due to Piriformis Syndrome, SI Joint dysfunction, and instability. The receptionist said that for $10 extra, I can get the aromatherapy or hot stone add on (so, $58). I said sure lets do aromatherapy with the deep tissue. I get to the salon and confirm that I am getting a deep tissue massage. The receptionist goes back and discusses this with the masseuse, and the receptionist says yes. I go and the massage was alright, but didn't seem very "deep tissue." I told the masseuse my pain issues at the beginning and I was surprised at how little attention she was giving to my problem areas. So finally, I asked, "So, whats the difference between this and the Swedish Massage?" and she says "The aromatherapy." And I said, "Wait, I asked to get a deep tissue massage... So am I getting a Swedish massage?" and she said "No, we are just focusing on relaxation......." I was pretty upset, to say the least... I have only had one Swedish massage before, but that was in the Philippines. I didn't know what to expect, but I had a weird feeling that this was not what I planned on paying for. But by the time I asked, it was too late, the massage was almost over. After the massage, I talked to the receptionist and she agreed that I did say that I wanted a deep tissue and here I have the masseuse admitting that that is NOT what she gave me. The receptionist apologizes and tells me to wait a couple minutes for the assistant manager to return. I kept being told "she should be back any minute now." 40 minutes goes by, and when she finally returned, the assistant manager said that all she could do was take $10 off and offer me a $30 dollar massage for next time. I told her that there wouldn't be a next time because I just wasted $48 dollars on what I thought was going to be deep tissue massage. To fix their mistake, she wants ME to pay $30 MORE to get a do-over? Absolutely not. So, even though she admitted that there was a mistake on their end and some miscommunication issues, she said that I should've communicated to my masseuse earlier in the massage. Which, I understand, but I told her that since I have only gotten one massage in my life, I didn't know that I would need to reconfirm with the masseuse that I was getting a deep tissue massage, ESPECIALLY after the receptionist JUST confirmed it while I was in the lobby waiting for my appointment to begin. The conversation I had with the masseuse at the beginning of the session was about where my pain is.... If I am paying for a deep tissue massage and that is what I made the appointment for, why would I confirm ONCE AGAIN that I am getting a deep tissue massage? I am really disappointed and I feel very foolish for not only going to a place that had bad reviews, but also giving them another hour of my time to "fix" the situation, only to leave feeling more tense and aggravated than when I arrived. Do yourself a favor and pay the extra $30 for a massage somewhere else. If you are disappointed by your service at Massage Luxe, they will expect you to pay another $30 to make you happy, anyway. I started going to Massage Luxe when my favorite massage therapist started working there. Right off the bat I felt the receptionist who I later found out was the manager was super fake and rude. I was surprised at the cost and I said, "oh I wish they would've explained it would be that much when I called and asked about being a first time customer..." She smiled a huge fake sarcastic smile and said, "oh, but did you ask?" My massage therapist ended up leaving (can't say I blame him) and I still had credits on my account to use. I got 2 more massages from two different therapists and although Alex's massage was pretty good, the other therapist basically rubbed lotion aggressively on me. After my credits were used up, I told manager I wished to cancel my account. She asked why and I said I was going to follow my original therapist. She then began bashing him and talking about how unprofessional he was for leaving in the way he did and she hoped he didn't do that to me...! All the while keeping her fake smile of course. I told her it was unprofessional of her to even be TELLING me of her personnel issues! This whole business is run terribly by a horrible manager with some therapists who need some work. Had a massage & facial and both were fine - nothing against the massage therapists. My complaint was regarding when I checked out and how the assistant manager on duty that day (July 2) handled the situation. I had signed up for a package when I went into the salon (this was my first visit). The $100 package I chose included a certain type of massage and then certain types of facials. When I got into the room for the facial, I was asked what my goals were as far as the facial and I mentioned that I had some aging so would like something that would deal with that. The package I purchased had certain facials I was eligible for, and the girl doing the facial said I could do one of those, or I could upgrade to something that would deal with the aging & that it would cost me an extra $30....she said normally it would be $40.00 extra, but because I was doing the package that day, it would only be an extra $30.00. After some discussion, I decided to upgrade and specifically said "so my total instead of being $100 today, will be $130?" I was told "yes" & based on that, I said "go ahead". When I was finished and went to pay, the girl at the checkout did not know how to change things in the computer to adjust for the upgrade and so ended up calling the assistant manager who wasn't in the salon at the time. She asked me to wait until the assistant manager came back to the store & said it would be about 5 minutes or so, so I sat down to wait - at this point I was still feeling pretty good from the massage(s) and didn't mind just relaxing a bit in the waiting room. After about 10 minutes a women came into the store and went behind the counter and immediately started indicating that they could not accommodate the $130 I was told I would be charged - she started showing me the pricing lists and going on and on about the different costs and that what I had cost much more then the $130.00. She said the best she could do was charge me $156.00. I explained to her what I'd been told by the girl who did the facial and she said it didn't matter - that girl wasn't working up at the front desk and shouldn't have told me that. I said I was prepared to pay $130 and had made a conscious decision based on information I was given to spend the extra $30.00, but I wasn't prepared to spend anymore then that. I fully expected this to be honored as I believe any other "upstanding" establishment would have done even if the info given to me was the wrong info & then they could have dealt with the employee instead of making me stand there to first wait for the assistant manager to come back to the store and then for her to over and over tell me that I wasn't going to get the services at the cost I'd been told. I was so upset at this point I told her to just take my charge card and charge me the $156.00 - I just wanted to get out of there at that point. They ended up charging me and at the very end I thought maybe I could talk to the Manager to see if the Manager could do something so I asked for the Manager's name. The Assistant Manager then told me to call Corporate Headquarters because the Manager wasn't there at the moment. I said, could I just have the Manager's name so I can call the Manger tomorrow? The Assistant Manager refused to give me the Manager's name and told me "just call Corporate". I was so frustrated at that point at the way I was treated that I just left store verbally saying "wow" over and over....I just couldn't get over the treatment from this lady....3 weeks later I'm still shaking my head....just a really lousy way to treat a customer!!! And....needless to say, the "relaxation" I had experienced from the massages was null and void by the time I walked out of the place. read more

I was in agreement with the employees on this, but I called to schedule an appointment, and one of the employees told me that I would not be charged unless I came in for a massage. This was relieving because I wanted to spread out the massages that I was going to be using. This employee LIED to me (a college student with big expenses). Come to find out I was charged all summer long once a month, and the employees told me that the best they could do to fix the confusion (their employees mistake!) was to re-gift my last charge and allow me to use the 150.00 dollars worth of hours on my account. Although I was displeased with this conclusion because of their employees lack of communication skills, I agreed to their terms. The employee told me I would receive a call on By the end of the week about a final conclusion. After a week and a half I called back to figure things out and corporate never answered phones to speak to me on the issue. I then received a voicemail from the local massage luxe letting me know that they would not even refund me my previous month payment. So again the employees LIED!!! I called back and for he first time in this process I showed my frustration, hopefully they will fix the mistakes their business made. I don't want the massages that are on the account! I just want my money back. But this business is very UNPROFESSIONAL in how they deal with matters such as this. Other than that the massage was descent other than the masseuse didn't read my file and if he had he would know I asked for specific areas to not be touched.
