My makeup and hair looks terrible, I went there for prom and showed them pictures of what I wanted and they didn't come anywhere close to it. I told the lady I wanted hot pink eyeliner and she put a purple. she also put contour on my forehead and nothing around my mouth at all, so they ended up being two different colors. they were both in a rush, choosing quantity over quality. The picture I showed the hairstylist looks nothing at all like what she did. And it was just a simple pontail curled. read more

the facilities at BJ grand are amazing, from the color choices to products you can take home. the atmosphere is bustling for a reason, but it's always relaxing and light hearted! but the star of the show is definitely the stylists. i have been seeing Jenna since i was in the fifth grade and i am now a freshman in college! she's maintained my hair from long to short, naturally brown to blonde, and tons of fun fashion colors- not once have i ever been disappointed. she's extremely talented at her craft and is basically my therapist at this point. i look forward to my appointments every six weeks and sometimes move them up just so i can see her haha! a personal relationship with a stylist like this really makes bj grand feel like family. again, cannot recommend jenna enough for both cut and color- she seriously deserves to be famous for it. i'll attach some of her work on me here! go book an appointment!!! read more

I have had multiple different services done by multiple different technicians and to say that I am overjoyed would be an understatement! I am constantly blown away by not only the environment of the salon itself, but also by the skills of each different tech. It is very apparent that they take pride in their work and they enjoy what they're doing and that makes all the difference. I've tried 4 different stylist in the past two years with disastrous results. Today I was fortunate enough to meet the stylist of my dreams. Her name is Kirsta, friendly, knowledgeable, professional only begin to describe how AMAZING she is. I have curly hair which is difficult to cut and style to meet my high standards. Kirsta tamed my out of control mane into the perfect sleek and sophisticated bob. I am in love with my hair again, thank you Kirsta. This place is way overpriced for what it is. Basically the stylists are fresh out of beauty school. I made an appointment with a "master stylist" and I don't think the woman had been doing hair for more then 6 months. She was in a hurry, did almost no consultation and didn't ask any questions. My hair is streaky, uneven and aweful. I can't believe I was charges 120$ for a beauty school haircut. I have had my hair done at some pretty nice salons and for about 30$ more you can actually get someone with some professionalism and pride in their work. read more

This is a nice place to go to feel pampered...if you can afford it. The atmosphere is nice and chock full of women. I didn't see one male in the joint. I went on a "prom" saturday so there were prom goers everywhere. HECTIC. My first visit was for a masage. My masage therapist was Jennifer Miller. She did an amazing job. I don't like a lot of chit chat when I'm getting my rub on and she kept it to a minimum. It was relaxing. My 2nd visit I got my haircut and colored by a highly recomended stylist named Whitney Roy. She did the BEST color I had ever gotten. I liked the cut too but it the color was great. She was nice too. SO if you have the cash to lay down go for it. read more

I've been seeing Whitney for more than a decade now. Before that, I tried so many stylists and never found one who worked for me. But Whitney is fantastic. I can bring in photos of color or cuts, and Whitney will figure out how to make them work for my hair. I can also tell her to make my color look good, and she will. Why I will never go back to BJ Grand Salon: I was having a tough time finding a salon that was good for men's haircuts in Springfield. I tried BJ salon and my first haircut was ok, so I decided to go back but try a different person. I did 3 haircuts with Kelly and gave her a $20 tip every time. However, today I showed up to my appointment 3 minutes late and they canceled my appointment. No call, no reschedule nothing. 3 minutes... This is someone who I gave an extremely good tip $20 every single time for a mediocre at best haircut. Front desk said that she has an event after me and needs "the entire session" even though my haircuts have varied from 20minutes -30 minutes . I walked out the door and I will never go back. She probably makes $15 per haircut. Insanity. read more

I've gotten multiple haircuts & leg waxings from this BJ Grand location. They always do a good job, and never seem too rushed even though it's always crowded. While the prices are higher than other places, I think it is worth the price to know I'm getting a quality service that I will be satisfied with each time I come! I recommend Stacy for haircuts. I've been a customer of BJs off and on for a number of years. They do employ top notch people but they seem to have a high turn over. Every time I find the right stylist, she leaves. It's so frustrating. I had the haircut of my life in January only to have to start all over the next time I went in. I've had all services done there from waxing to color. I don't get my nails done there because they never stay on. I got tired of paying twice as much for half as much. I think the south 6th salon is a lot nicer and quieter than the west side location. The west side carries sound so if you are getting your hair done on a Saturday it is not relaxing at all. Once you get behind the closed doors, it is wonderfully quiet. They also carry Bare Escentuals (yay!) although it is quite limited. Everyone complains that the prices are high but it's what I have paid at other places. I don't think it's out of line for what you get. I have noticed that the stylists are now doing more than cutting hair. They seem to be consulting and demonstrating more when you get a service. read more

I am formally disputing a charge of $99 on 6/28/18 for salon services that turned my hair purple when I went in for my routine foil highlights. The "fix" was to send me home with a small container of clarifying shampoo. This fixed NOTHING! I was told I would be refunded the money but had to wait until a manager authorized it the following day. Had Balayage done by Tareyn @the West location recently. She is nice and seemed to listen to me however the job was subpar. I felt like she listened but didn't really process what I was saying. I brought an inspiration picture and she looked at it and said "that's great but for less maintenance this is what we should do". I didn't care for the maintenance I just wanted the look on the picture I brought in. The ultimate color was just ok and I had to go back for a color correction. At the visit for the correction I again stated I was not happy with the color and again she didn't even offer to work with me for a long term plan. Im not a stubborn customer and I understand that going lighter can take time but it seemed as though she did not want was not interested in getting me where I wanted to be. On the flip side I had a facial with @Brittanie that was FANTASTIC and I consider this to be the redeeming quality of this place. read more

My color/highlights have not been right, I've had to go somewhere else while on vacation to get it right, my cut was so messed up last time that a stylist from somewhere else fixed it and she had to take almost an inch off in length to make the ends even - totally jagged. And last night I was there, showed them a picture of what I wanted and it looks NOTHING Like it. They changed the coloring system they use without ever mentioning it, so the guy "made up" what he thought would be close and it was nothing like it. So when he went back to make it redder, he got rid of all the highlights he put in. So NOTHING about this is correct! I'm done with this place. read more

Brides Beware. This place was very unorganized and unfriendly. We had an out of town wedding in Springfield and chose this salon because we thought they would have the resources to handle our wedding preparations. We planned ahead and worked with the salon to get specific stylists assigned to the bride and wedding party. Over a course of a few months, they called us back and switched the bride's stylist three times, including the morning of the hair and makeup trial. Nothing like driving a long way to find out you can't get the stylist they agreed to give you. They also changed other stylists for other members of the wedding party. With all the changes and lack of continuity, we feared it would make our wedding experience turn out bad. And our fears turned into a reality. The morning of the wedding, the stylist who worked on the bride's hair showed no emotion or energy. The hair style was not what the bride wanted and the stylist became upset, telling the bride he didn't know what else to do and that he had another client waiting. This obviously upset the bride who was in tears until another stylist offered to help out. The new stylist was able to correct some of the wrongs but it caused major delays with our wedding itinerary. Because of the original stylists shortcomings, we were late getting to the church, getting photographs taken at our hotel and it caused unnecessary stress on our wedding day. The saddest part is the bride never got to experience the joy she should have on the morning of her wedding, and that is something she'll never get back. Take caution with this place, especially for the price you pay and the attitude you get back. read more

I went to the BJ Grand Salon and Spa in Springfield on Robbins Rd for a haircut. Am extremely disappointed. They charged me so much and don't know how to cut hair. They left an entire chunk of my hair sticking out. I tried to fix it when I got home. Then I called them to see if they could fix it for me. At first they didn't want to do anything about it because it had been so long. I explained I travel for work, had gone home to visit family, and have a baby so that's why it took me while to call. Finally they said I could come in and acted as if they were doing me a favor, and after trying to get it fixed from a second stylist, it still isn't fixed. She said it won't be even. I am shocked they said this. Looking at the picture below, this just doesn't look right to me. Everyday I walk around with some hair sticking out. Also, this is the latest picture. Before this I had way more hair sticking out. The hair should not stick out and it should all be even. I cannot believe such an expensive salon doesn't know how to cut hair and then tells me it's supposed to look like this. read more

I had a manicure and pedicure here. 4 days later the polish peeled off of one of my nails. I contacted the spa and asked them what could be done and was told that really nothing. I could however book an appt to come in for another manicure. Not a chance. If you are paying top $$ already I feel it should last more than 4 days. read more

Very disappointed! My stylist started almost 15 min late, hardly cut any hair off, didn't cut the back of my hair like the picture I had shown her, and then let me know in an unprofessional, rude manner that she was already running 30 min behind and I needed to hurry up and make decision about the front. I chose to accept it the way it was. Who knows how screwed up it would have been if she had more to cut. She was rushing along so badly. She spent more time washing and drying my hair then cutting. When I'm paying that much money for a cut, I would prefer to leave with a good cut and a wet head. Will not be returning there. read more

Whitney gave my 14 year old daughter a cut and straightened her hair and charged $112. She charged an extra $38 for doing her hair before she left. Every other time we have been there the styling is included. A complete rip-off. We are Never going to BJs again. I complained at the counter and they did nothing. read more

The only reason I'm rating 2 stars is coz the cut turned ok..mind you not Fantabulous...ok. I showed up 10 min earlier to my appointment. The receptionist said she willleave let the stylist know abt my presence. That's the last piece of communication. I waited a few min, found myself a chair in a corner, plugged in my dying phone and had to entertain myself, as the stylist Jenna showed 20 min late to the appointment. I wonder if they will still wait for me if I show 20 min late to the appointment. Noone, not the stylist or the receptionist even attempt to even apologize. When I said I didn't know what was going on, she said, oh it has been crazy here today... After the cut Jenna the stylist decided that my curly hair needs to be flat ironed for a sleek look( I didn't ask for it). Then I was charged 71$ for a 45 $ haircut...I was told that she also did a full service flat iron. When I said that I was told that styling came with the service, some other lady interjected to mumble something...then the stylist came back and said that I should be charged as an add on. And they charge 55$. I didn't think a tip was necessary,as it was already a rip off. read more

Jessica Richards at the south salon is the best colorist and stylist I have ever had. She has great ideas to improve or change my look and devotes as much time as needed to each and every client. She always makes me feel beautiful too! Andrea Bradley at the west salon does my brows and I frequently get microdermabrasion treatments from her. She is also excellent and makes sure I am always satisfied with the results. Both of these ladies are top notch and I don't know what I would do without either of them!! read more

Bj's on 6th steet - My wedding day appt was 8:30 (the earliest time they would give me). 2 days before my wedding I was told that I was the 1st appt. On the day of my wedding my hair stylist was blow drying someone's hair so I didn't get started until 9:15. It took a couple of hours to do my hair & after I got my makeup done, I had to go back to have my hair finalized. I was supposed to be done at 10:30 but wasn't until around 12:15. I ended up missing out on photography & was late for the ceremony. I called the following Monday & was told by the manager that I should have told her I was on a schedule. I thought with a wedding, a schedule was a given. I didn't want to get all worked up but I repeatedly told the hair stylist I needed to hurry. She kept apologizing and my photographer called many times trying to get me out sooner. The manager said I wasn't late bc I got started late but bc the hair sylist had trouble with my hair. My wedding party except for one (some started 1.5 hours after me and the one left was waiting on me to get her makeup done) were done before me. I was told my makeup couldn't be done while I was waiting bc the makeup artist wasn't there yet. The airbrush makeup didn't blend well so I had to address that myself and some parts of my hair fell out. That happened during the trial run so I warned her & she assured me that wouldn't be an issue. I was able to easily address that with more pins. Cost: Trial run-makeup, fake lashes, & tip: $70 Trial run-hair & tip: $75 I was told I needed to buy another set of fake lashes for the wedding, lip liner, lip gloss & hair spray so I did - $75 plus Blow out engagement pics & tip - $40 Blow out reheasal dinner pics & tip - $40 Wedding day makeup with eyelashes & tip-$70 Wedding day hair-$75 When I went to the salon, I was never started on time. If given the opportunity to redo somethimg about my wedding, I would pick another salon. I recommend you pick another place. read more

I'm very picky about my hair and have been to some pretty nice salons in my time, so if she has my approval, she must be pretty good! She's also consistent with her quality. My last salon was bad about the same person giving you a good cut one month and a bad one the next. I always look and feel awesome when I leave an appt with her. read more

I think she is new there but let me tell you-- she is good!! a week later I still feel so rejuvenated. I will definately go back. So unfortunately, I am going to have to write probably my very first negative review (in my life... and I'm 30 yrs old). I have been going to BJ's in Springfield about 6 years for my skin care after having grown up in CA and lived in cities such as New York and Chicago I had found an esthetician that I love love love! Shelley Edminston. She is amazing... to be honest she should be working in a high end spa or owning her own business. Today I had to say goodbye to her... I had a horrible experience where the General Manager Pat Moody made it a point to humiliate me in front of staff. I bounced a check over the holidays after forgetting to transfer funds. Already super embarrassing, I sent payment to the corporate office and booked an appointment to have my eyebrows waxed (I'm sure is proof I wasn't trying to elude payment). Upon arrival the GM Pat Moody approached me and asked me to step into her office... with the door open and staff coming and going she proceeded to speak to me in a condescending tone as if I were a child. When I told her I sent payment she drilled me for details in what form of payment and when I sent it etc. All the while I am thinking to myself "I have always paid by check... hundreds upon hundreds of dollars over the course of 6 years and have never once bounced a check." After I asked her to speak to me like an adult and further insisted I sent payment I finally had enough of her harassment and told her that although I loved Shelley I would not be coming back to the salon, she just smirked and replied, "Fine with me". The two worse things than being humiliated in front of staff and the general public is that I now have to find a new esthetician (probably go to Appearances since I get my hair done there and they are phenomenal) also Shelley loses tons of business. I have referred clients to them and will be disclosing this info to them immediately. There was way more mature and humble ways to handle this matter Pat! Maybe woman to woman... or GM to respected client. I reached out to Gail whom is a business affiliate(maybe part owner) and some of her comments left me to be a little bewildered (for example I'm not certain but changing your policies to deducting the payment made by a bounced check from your technicians is probably illegal but I have contacts at Dept of Labor... I can look into it for you. I will be posting this review everywhere and anywhere. Beware!!!! A spa is suppose to be an experience that's relaxing and private not a cattle herd with an anything goes policy in regards to the way we mistreat delicate situations and paying clientele. read more
