I was nervous because I wanted to make sure before I ordered the wheels that they would fit. So I drove over from Lahaina and I talked to the owner Tommy. He made me feel comfortable and told me what to order exactly !!! He said there's no need to make an appointment just come by when you have your wheels and we'll put them on for you. I asked him for a price before he put it on and he gave me a fair price!!! They have a nice cool air condition room where you can wait. There were a lot of locals coming by and having work done. I brought my car to Master Auto Shop. The service was terrible. They work on my car. Every time I left there shop another icon light would go on my dash board that was never there before I never had a problem with others shops. They did give me some of my money back. But the aggravation I went threw was unbelievable. I finally took my car to the new car dealer where I bought it. I also told the service Manger at the new car dealer what was going on with them. The service manger at the new car dealer told me in round about way that Master auto center did not know what they where doing. I decided never to bring car back to Master Auto Center. Tommy Lee the owner of Master auto Center has explained that he and his team are sometimes careless and forgetful and that's why my truck was stolen. That's rite folks my truck was stolen while parts were on the way. Tommy explained that they forget to bring in my truck and left it parked in front of shop and after speaking with the police I found out that my truck had been stored on the street in front of Master auto center for a number of days. To me the carelessness and forgetfulness that the owner explained he and his crew deal with is what caused my truck to be stolen. Total inside job if you ask me. Now my truck of 18 years is gone. Please if you read this do not take your car here! After speaking with a number of people in the community it's apparent that Master Auto Center is very unreliable and will probably try to steal your money by how they overcharge for labor and forget to work on your car because they just don't care. I've never had an experience at an auto shop like I had at Master Auto Center in Wailuku. I had to call in a few times as I was getting my truck towed in, and each person that answered said their name and was noticeably friendly. The tow truck ran late and they had no problem staying open to wait for me. I was shocked and grateful for that alone. They did a full diagnostic which is standard for them (awesome) and made sure I got the best deal on new tires and were able to give me a single parent discount which I had no idea even existed. The staff was even friendlier in person and it truly felt like a local family business with real people who really care. Car issues can be stressful and having an entire staff who is able to convey kindness let's me know that the staff themselves are well cared for by the owners and management. I am impressed and I ENJOYED the experience even though it was an expensive fix I ended up needing. I would recommend this place to everyone especially those who have had unpleasant auto shop experiences in the past. My impression and opinion of mechanics and shop office staff is 100% different for the better since my visit to Master Auto Center, and they did great work and had it fixed in just one day! Do not come here for tires: they don't have them on site and they will try to rip you off - Maui is a small place and word does get around. This is exactly what happened to me: on a Friday afternoon, my daughter got a flat so I called them to see if they have a tire in stock and could repair it . The guy checks, says his warehouse somewhere on island (not on site) does have one and quotes me at $115 for tire and install - I had him repeat it because that seems really cheap and the tires for this car are usually expensive, even at Costco (who didn't have it in stock). Yup, he said to call in the morning and and they would install next day (Saturday). I bring it in, the lady that helped me had no clue who took my call, but their warehouse is closed on Saturday but they have a more expensive tire on site. I said no thanks, then they say to come back Monday and they can install the original quoted tire as their warehouse would be open. I drop the car off first thing Monday morning and said I'll come back at 1:00 to pick it up. Then I get a call around 11 telling me they actually don't have that originally quoted $115 tire but can sell me two tires for $205 each! I said no thanks, put the spare back on and I'll be picking up my car where I then took directly to United Tire where they have my tire for $205 and can install it right away. As I'm sitting there waiting, the lady from Master Auto comes in to pick up a tire for a customer - THIS is their warehouse where they get their tires...and had I come to United in the first place I wouldn't have gotten the runaround - lesson learned! Great Customer service. Staff was very friendly. Purchased 4 new tires and was a very good price. I paid $600 out the door. Service was quick, I was out of there in less than an hour. The technician was very knowledgeable. I busted a lug stud over tightening it a while ago and he replaced it while doing my tire change. Of course he got my ok first. The service girl was very friendly and cordial. They even have a customer waiting room with free wifi and coffee. Helps on a rainy day like today. The tires feels awesome. I drove it home to Lahaina with no issues. Pushing my runner to 65mph with no issues. The price and service was A+. I was quoted $800 plus at Costco. Quoted $1400 at tire warehouse, Lahaina. I had an extremely confusing experience there. Spoke w 3 different people in a matter of 10min, one saying my car wasn't there at all, another saying they hadn't started working on it to give me a time estimate and the third had a complete diagnostic and recommendation for services (?!). They did apologize for the confusion but then when I picked up the car my bill was over $135 more than quoted due to parts which was never clarified to me over the phone. The bill even stated the authorized price that was lower than their final total. Wow, I was really impressed with the quality service here. Lani and the staff took great care of us. We came in to patch a flat. But what we found out was our rim was chipped causing the tire to leak. Had we bought a new tire, the same problem would happen again. Thankfully the staff showed us the problem and gave us several options with prices. We felt like we were in good hands. Lani even took the time to educate us about tires, showing us several options. After 2 hours in the waiting room (for a scheduled appointment), I was told that the $120 tire alignment I came in for could not be done unless I got new tie rods & struts first (to the tune of over $2000). I drove down the road 5 minutes to get a second opinion & another shop did the job in less than half the time I had waited for the expensive & bogus diagnosis, assuring me that both my tie rods & struts were fine. While I was waiting, I met 2 other people in the waiting room - one who had been there for 7 hours insisting on a redo after this shop had installed a faulty caliper that tore up his rotor and the other one getting a flat fixed on a used tire that this shop did not stand behind. Went in to get two tires changed and realized they had fantastic prices that could not be beat! Not only that but the second tire I wanted to change was a good tire and the front tire was the one that was desperate for changing! They called me and told me the deal and gave me two options and did exactly what was asked! Awesome customer service! The female receptionist was friendly and informative regarding prices and services provided. Being a female and someone who knows nothing about cars I didn't feel rushed like I normally feel in other auto shops. The receptionist took the time to thoroughly review what the mechanic did and explain what recommendations they had for my car (change of air filter and some kind of leak). She knows her stuff! Another plus is their affordable prices. Honda dealership charges $50+ just for an oil change. I paid $89 for an oil change and multi point inspection. WARNING!! TERRIBLE PEOPLE, WILL RIP YOU OFF! I went here to get my gasket cover replaced on my Subaru Forester because it was leaking oil. It had no other problems when I brought it in, and by the time they were finished with it it would hardly start, and broke down in an intersection as soon as I drove away. The owner was very rude and didn't apologize once, insisted that it was not their fault despite the fact that they obviously did bad work and caused it to break down, and would not offer to even look at it and see what what wrong without charging me. I had to sell if after this incident because it would no longer start, and the auto shop teacher I sold it to said it was obvious that the work that Master Auto Center did was bad and was the reason it would no longer start. I went in there for a new tire. Once I got there all the staff (including the owner) was super friendly. The price of the tire was lower than what I had been quoted over the phone. For the price I expected them to only replace my tire. Well, they ended up replacing my tire, taking my spare tire off my car, installing the new tire, and then placing the spare back under my car, all at no extra service charge. Wow - what a wonderful place to do business! I am so impressed!! I am a single mom, on a painfully tight budget, and desperately needed new tires for my car. Discount Tire and Automotive had the least expensive tires - they even beat Costco's prices. I took my car in and they had them on in no time. All the people there were super friendly and personable. The fellas checked my brakes, at my request, and told me the front brake pads would need to be replaced in a few months, but the back pads were fine. These folks could easily have taken advantage of me and said I needed new pads/brakes, etc, but they didn't!! They were just as honest as could be. It was SO refreshing to do business with these kind folks!! I recently had an issue with a slow leak in my tire, so when I took my car in for the free tire rotation (for getting my tires there) they found a nail in the tire and fixed it at no charge!
