I came here over a year ago to bring my Tundra in to get the catalytic converter replaced because someone stole mine. They sent brownies over with our name on it thanking us for our business. That was such a heartwarming feeling getting sent that from an auto repair shop. You don't hear about business doing things like that anymore. What I really came to leave a review about was the selfless service I received the other day. I came in with my 2 kids to see if they could screw on a cover of some sort that was hanging from the undercarriage of my truck. This nice employee walked across the street to the auto parts store to get a replacement screw and took care of it free of charge. I tried to tip him and he wouldn't accept it either. To start off, Brent is a joke. I took my vehicle to Service King in Midvale due to a collision caused by Allstate's client, and Service King is on Allstate's approved list, and since Service King is a body shop, they sent my vehicle to Master Muffler's. The vehicle's issue is a shaking steering column, a.k.a. death wobble for jeep wranglers. The collision happened in Denver and caused damage to my right front passenger tire, in which the first time Brent checked it over, he performed an alignment and wheel balance, when I had two previous alignment done already and knew it wasn't an alignment issue. Brent, having his 33 years of experience (oh boy, was he proud to tell me that), did what he called a 'collision damage check', not sure what good stuff he's doing over there, but this is the first time that I've heard an auto shop not doing a complete check for a vehicle after a car incident. Anyways, I picked up the car, and the issue still existed. My second time going to Service King, and I'm not happy that I have to go back, SK sent the car to MM, and Brent said, and I quote 'yeah we found issue on your right front tire due to wear and tear', in which I asked 'so wear and tear only occurs on the tire and wheel that was hit during a collision and not on any of the other wheels'? In which Brent replied 'well in my 33 years of experience, that's what I can tell you'. Wow, I worked at Discount tire back in college and I told him that my time at DT is worth more than his 33 years of giving false advice. TL;DR: Brent is a joke, don't trust these guys. Wouldn't trust them to walk my dog. Editing due to google reply from the owner accusing me of trying to have them to commit insurance fraud, bunch of clowns. Edit, reply to the owner's reply: You didn't even do a full inspection for the vehicle, so don't tell me that you know it's from wear and tear. Also, nobody asked you to lie to the insurance company, so don't twist my words. Your shop failed to do a proper inspection the first time, then found more issues the second time, due to wear and tear? If you did a full inspection, why didn't find any wear and tear issues on the other front tire and wheel? I don't trust your shop to do any more work/ potentially further damage my vehicle. I also attached pictures of the work that you've done. Nowhere does it say that a full vehicle inspection was done to find any collision damage, and blaming 'out of spec' because it's a lifted jeep is the dumbest reason I've heard as I've had no problems with the lift kit up until the incident. I don't think your shop is qualified to even do jobs like this. But thank for tightening my rear shock, I'm sure that would have fixed my steering. brought my car there to get the tampered cat fixed a long with 02 sensor. when i got my car back my clutch was TOAST. While my family also brought our other car there to get the check engine light turned off they disconnected the gas hose and did not put it back in and gave it back to us. If I could leave A rating lower than one star I would, I had my muffler done on my car with terrible welds, after a few miles it started leaking out of the welds, I scheduled an appointment for a Tuesday and when I went in for my appointment they stated that their muffler person was not working and we had to reschedule after being told that the muffler person was going to be there on that Tuesday, absolute terrible management, terrible time management and terrible customer service with terrible work done! Until April of 2021, I would wholeheartedly agree with the reviews of Von's Master Muffler shop in West Jordan. In fact, I have been a customer for fifteen years, because of the integrity of Von and his assistant manager, Bob. Everything changed when Von retired. Bob, who was the reason why so many people came to this shop, was pushed into the back. The new owners have managed, in less than one month, to desiccate every tenet of professionalism that Master Muffler represents. Specifically, on I brought in my Pathfinder because of some power loss problems. The new owners/managers at first said they couldn't find a problem, and then recommended a transmission fluid service. One of the new owners called it "transmission oil" (no such thing) rather than fluid, so I should have known at that point perhaps this was no longer the place for car repairs. However, because of past experiences, I agreed to the service. When I picked up the vehicle, I was charged for the service and then told that I needed to bring it back in 200 to 1,000 miles for a second transmission service, for which I would again be charged. They had replaced five quarts of transmission fluid, leaving seven quarts of the old transmission fluid. When I asked why, I was told the transmission "would go into shock if they had done the complete service." You do not have to be a mechanic to know how absurd is this one. So much for Master Muffler's promise of "Done right the first time." When I contested the charge for the partial service, I was told by Gordon he did not know how to reverse a credit card charge. I am still fighting the battle on this one. Fifteen years of great service dissipated by the new owners. read more

Being a mechanic I understand the industry yet there is one job I cannot do in my shop and that emissions testing or smog as others call it. So I always go to bob at master muffler for my vehicles and my wife's and both of my mothers for simple emission check I call ahead to make sure they aren't busy and come in. Gordon answered the phone and was at the desk when I walked in he took my keys and had the technician come take the vehicle than ten minutes later it's finished and passed with zero issues as my 267k Toyota should proceed to check out and he's on the phone so I wait till he can help me tells me he will be with me in a second no problem sit back down with my wife and child. Couple minutes later he's ready everything was fine till I notice this OTS charge for $10 which stands for on the spot ???? This is why I called ahead of time so for this little charge I will never return to this establishment ps I've never paid this before and have done the same thing every time. Long time coming. My check engine light came on last fall and my tags were almost due. I called and they got me in the morning. YAY!! They did a check found out what was wrong explained it and the cost. After Fixing it they had me go back to make sure it would pass for my tags. It sure did. They made my day and month by telling me they could do the emissions and tags right there. Woohoo!!!! Fixing it was great. They did a fantastic job. I would and will happily go back for any services. went in for a cat replacement and had an exhaust leak a couple days later, gasket was not sealed properly.

I was happy to find some honest mechanics. I looked under our car and I knew we had a leak. I figured might as well just get the piping and muffler replaced even possibly the catalytic converter. It is a 2006 Subaru Forester that has been a daily driver up the canyons everyday. It has taken a beating from the snow over the years. They called me up after dropping it off that I just need to put in a new section where the leak is at and that is the only thing needed to be done. Everything else is good. There is no need to replace anything else. The muffler, piping & catalytic converter is still good. I was shocked !! HONESTY!! The day before I had taken our Forester to Big O Tires for an alignment and was told I needed to replace my front brakes. I did the brakes myself earlier this year, new rotors and brakes... the guy at Big O Tires didn't even know what to say. So thanks for being honest and not selling me something I didn't even need!!! read more

I have been coming to Master Muffler and Brake in West Jordan Utah for over 2 years since moving here from Maryland. Bob and Von do a excellent job but they also are very honest and to me in the mechanic business that is very important, they tell you what you need done immediately and what can wait a bit until next time. Great experience. He saved my car. I thought my car would be trash soon because it had limited power for the last three years. Bob was able to figure out the problem. I took my car to Bob to get the brake pads replaced and Bob noticed the problem, ran a test, then suggested I replace one of the catalytic converters. Sure enough my car has power again! It was a great experience because he went above and beyond by trying to figure out the limited power issue. I had even been to multiple mechanics and dealerships that couldn't figure it out. I had only some basic work done at Master Muffler but they did it quick and the charge was very reasonable. I went in and asked if they could remove and "straight pipe" my mid-muffler which they were happy to do. They charged me $30 and had it done in about 20 minutes. Although it was a simply job, I'd go back if I had something more complex due to their promptness and good pricing. read more
