My girlfriend took her car here to get it inspected. They quoted her around $5,000 to fix a bunch of stuff. They said it all needed to be fixed. Car is only worth 8 grand. Car runs fine, no check engine light. Just needed to check an oil leak and maybe replace back brake pads. Super shady that they told her all this other stuff needed to be replaced. For example they told her the timing belt needed to be replaced. I just checked it and the timing belt is only a year old and it works just fine. I bet that if I bring the car in and they have a different diagnosis for me. But of course we still had to pay the $300 for their time to inspect the car. read more

Brit was fantastic. She gave me a quote with itemized prices. After our diagnostic, she sent us pictures of the problem with an itemized list of what work would need to be done and the actual cost. When my husband went to pick up the car, which they were able to finish hours before their quoted time, they answered all of his additional questions and showed him the part they replaced. My Honda needed the AC worked on and I found that M1 Auto Repair could take a look at it on Monday and diagnose what was wrong. Of course an expensive fix was required but I wanted my car to be cooled so I agreed. The woman behind the counter said they'd let me know what was going on when they knew about the work getting done. I didn't hear from them so I called. They told me the part was in the valley but wouldn't be delivered 'til afternoon and they'd get the work started (take apart the section needed to finish with the expected part) so they could finish it the next day. I needed to retrieve something from my car later that afternoon. when I arrived around 4:00 pm the car was parked in a corner of the back parking area, unlocked. it wasn't being prepped for the next day at all. I called again around 1:00 pm the next day (Tues) and was told the part wasn't there after all and was going to come in that day. I hoped the shop could get it done that day then. I needed it to get errands & appointments fulfilled before leaving town in a few days.They said they'd let me know. I received a phone message from Elizabeth around 4:00 pm that informed the delivery truck hadn't been allowed through highway traffic due to a fire in CO. She apologized saying they looked for alternatives but were unsuccessful. That made me wonder why there would be only one of the parts my car needed in the entire valley or even Ogden or Provo. Had I known the part # I'd have done a deep search to find one! Day three-Wednesday-I called and was told by the other woman working behind the desk that the part was to be delivered and they'd let me know between 11-12:00 what was going on as far as repairing my AC. At 1:36 I called and was told they were working on my car & hoped to complete it before the end of their day. Was contacted by Elizabeth via text that my car was ready. Was informed if we paid cash we could receive their discount for not using a credit card. On arriving I asked whether a debit card would count as cash. No that wouldn't work, so I pulled out my checkbook and was told by Elizabeth that she never takes personal checks, she wanted cash or a cashier's check from the bank. The glued down placard on the counter stated their terms but nowhere did it say anything about a cashier's check. When I inquired she told me that she just can't maKe it clear for everyone. She was rude, unapologetic and cold. The other female employee who worked behind the desk had treated me with compassion and was friendly and efficient while interacting with me. They are lucky to have her there, and I'm sure she deserves a substantial raise having to listen to the rude Elizabeth day after day. Yes, my AC was repaired after three days and a huge lack of communication where I had to call to find out my car's status, but I have read other negative reviews about Elizabeth and M1 auto repair on this site and see a trend. She and Mike seem to have distrustful, defensive, cold manner that makes me not recommend this business to others. it was a sketchy experience. read more

My wife and I just moved to Utah from Honolulu 10 days ago. My son & his family just arrived 3 weeks ago. He bought a 2007 Honda Pilot for my daughter in law to run around in. We been using this vehicle to look at homes for our family to settle in. Today, I let out some gas and rolled down the windows so my wife wouldn't pass out. Alas, the rear passenger window wouldn't roll up. Big problem. Noise, the elements, no security etc. Needed a fix ASAP! Called a bunch places. Went to Ken Garff Honda and was told next week would be the earliest. Anyway, found and called M1 Auto off the web and was told by a nice lady to come in, they would help us! Got there, she checked on workflow and got us in! The repair was done and off we went after a short while! Very satisfied and impressed with this business. Will use them again for sure! read more

I had to leave on short notice to California and my car was making an awful noise. They took it in and assessed the problem that same day and offered me a fair estimate. After using their simple web service to agree to the repairs, I was able to pick up my car by noon the next day. It's unfortunate I'm limited to 5 stars, they deserve 10. read more

This review saddens me to write as our family and our extended family who referred us greatly enjoyed this place. But due to a misunderstanding from the owner who responded back to us with an unprofessional text message from a text message I sent trying to communicate to their team of why we couldn't leave the key so that incase if there was any late fees that we didn't know about or possibly could be charged as they have workers to pay for their time and out of respect to not cause any confusion to their team as of why this vehicle was there without a key and lastly that it was just an inconvenient situation for us but we will be back to drop off the key and I thanked them, we decided to end this business partnership. I was referred by my extended family as I mentioned and I made my first appointment back in April. I was hands down impressed and loved the people and the environment that they offered. I ended up coming back again in May because of it for more work. I ended up agreeing to my business transactions with them for labor parts etc for a total of a couple thousand. I was glad to do it and support their business. We made another appointment to get another vehicle in because we were so pleased with our new found mechanic shop and their services. Our appointment day came. Our family has to either drop off our vehicles after hours or before due to strict schedules with work, school etc. They have a key box that you can drop off your key in to make this accommodation. When we went to drop the key in it wouldn't open. We both tried to open it and it wouldn't budge. We thought is it broken? Is it jammed? Do they need to unlock it? We don't know how the key box works but it wasn't working as expected. We were confused and then had to discuss how we were going to accommodate dropping off the key. We left the vehicle behind and I sent the business some quick text messages to inform them what was going on: "Your keybox is broken so I have to come back when you guys are open to drop off the key" "This is a inconvenience for our family As we work and have strict time schedules but I will try to be there as soon as you open thank you" As I was driving back to drop off the key I received this text message from the owner: "Hey this is Mike, one of the owners of M1 Auto. You are more than welcome to come and get your truck and take it else where for service that can guarantee the lock box will not be jammed with someone elses keys. i do not live here just own the business from mon-fri 9-5 and can only guarantee my repairs not the functionality of my lock box during hours im not here." I was confused and I now was upset from this unprofessional text message. We were not upset or disrespectful with the situation at hand with the key box. I didn't blame them I was only explaining the inconvenience of the situation but I would try to be back as soon as I could and I thanked them. But now I was upset by this unprofessional message. I called the shop and expressed how unprofessional this was and I was told they sent it because of my text messages even after all they had done for me. I paid for their services. I didn't ask for anything free and I was coming back to give more business to their company. As a customer I wasn't given sympathy with the inconvenience. Nor recognized that we had a pervious business relationship and transactions that I paid my money to which means I also did things for them. It broke my heart to be completely honest because I really enjoyed this place and I told them that. We ended up reterving our vehicle to respect the owners wishes and for everyone to feel respected and comfortable moving forward. I informed my extended family and we all will be moving to another shop that our friends recommend to us after hearing about our experience. I hope others have a better experience with this business and the owner than we did but I feel this situation needs to be shared so that if others do business with them they can be aware of how to be very careful in communicating with the business owner. read more

My Subaru had nearly 150,000 miles on it and was knocking badly. I was able to get an appointment the next day at M1 to check out the problem. M1 was able to replace the crankshaft assembly and have the engine head assembly rebuilt. They also replaced the engine starter and clutch for me (two components I had not gotten around to replacing yet). They even fixed a leak in the exhaust system. Have driven my Subaru for nearly three months since then and everything is working fine. Thank you so much for helping my out M1! read more

Terrible Service!! Attempted to return my Uhaul a day early and asked the very rude lady at the front desk to check if I had returned the vehicle with enough gas to avoid the upcharge. If not I was willing to drive to nearby gas station a few blocks away and add a few extra gallons. There were dogs jumping on me as well as kids running around inside the office. I gave her the keys and rather than working with me she sat in the cab of my uhaul and up charged $67 then became very belligerent when I again explained my situation. She placed her hand on her hip and told me to read my contract that I had signed. This is simply unacceptable customer service on every level. read more

Apparently questions here are not allowed! I had questions about the cost of the parts they wanted to use for a major repair (without being given any written estimate). Although I asked as sweetly as I could, I was told they would not do the work (although I had already paid $107 for an estimate) because I was supposed to "trust" my auto mechanic and not have any questions, because if they were to find additional problems, then I, me, and myself, in their estimation, would be the bigger problem to deal with. I went to find help for my auto. Instead I was told that they personally would not work with me. I gave them money to diss my character. They believe in their honesty like a religion, and quite frankly I don't know them other than their online ads, and find this attitude cult like. I am an educator, and questions are the most important part of learning. They said I could take my ( newly written) estimate and go anywhere for the repairs, but fact is, no mechanic will do the work based on another shop's testimony. Funny thing is, I knew what the problem was before I asked for their help. They just took my money and said bye. Because of questions!!! read more

Very disrespectful! The lady at the front desk was no help at all. They have a full body auto shop and had about 3 kids and dogs running around the shop. Charged us a $53 cleaning fee for dog hair that was in the cab when I picked it up. With how many U-Hauls that are in the valley I wouldn't waste your time here. read more

Mike and his wife are very easy to talk to, and called me every step of the way to let me know how the job was going. I took my car in for a timing belt replacement, valve cover gasket, and valve adjustment. It was discovered that I needed new plugs and coils, but Mike was very friendly in telling me, and my car now runs like it did when I purchased it 10 years ago. There was an issue with my ignition lock cylinder which surely caused a headache, but he was more than friendly about it. I'll never take my car anywhere else while I live in Salt Lake City. read more

Just had my truck taken there to fix a simple exhaust leak issue and get some welds fixed! They added even more atrocious welds and I'm not sure it fixed the leak or not but now I'm taking my truck to ford and I'm going to get it fixed professionally, I highly dont recommend ever doing business with this shop ever again! read more
