    Demo and grading
    Tommy D.

Awesome service, professional and trustworthy. Removed lots of dirt l, graded land to plans and demoed cement. Fast and did quality work. Did a great job with new cement work as well. Fairly priced and a great value for the work done. I highly recommend!!! And will call for my next project. Thank you!!!

    Full pool Demolition is complete

After getting quotes from five different demolition companies, I chose Master Demolition because they are properly registered with the California Contractors State License Board and have valid bonding information. Be cautious--some companies use fake or borrowed license numbers. For us, hiring a fully licensed contractor for a complete swimming pool demolition was essential. This was a major project involving permits, city inspections, a soil engineer, and a compaction report. It was also important to us to support a smaller business. Felipe, the owner, personally came to my home to take measurements. He was incredibly patient and visited three separate times because I kept changing my plans for the backyard. He was very knowledgeable and offered helpful suggestions since it was going to be an expensive project. After weeks of discussion, I decided to proceed with a full pool demolition and to remove all the concrete in my backyard. Master Demolition's pricing was reasonable, and they were the only company that provided a detailed breakdown of the entire scope of work and all associated costs. Permit approval in Monterey Park took about two weeks. Once approved, the Master Demolition crew started the following Monday. They arrived a little before 8 a.m., worked hard, cleaned up, and left around 5 p.m. every day for seven days straight (except Sunday). The crew worked so hard that the least I could do was set up chairs and a table, and keep a cooler stocked with snacks and drinks, which I refilled daily. They really appreciated it. The crew removed my side gate to bring in heavy machinery and reinstalled it once the job was complete. They also power-washed my driveway and swept the street before leaving. Felipe handled everything--scheduling city and soil engineer inspections and attending every one of them. He quickly addressed all corrections from the city inspector, such as removing the old pool electrical box, capping electrical components, and removing the pool label from my breaker. Once the project was finished, Felipe provided all the paperwork: permits, the soil compaction report, and the final city sign-off. Working with Master Demolition was an excellent experience, and I highly recommend them to anyone needing a full pool demolition.

Felipe and his team did a fantastic job demolishing and filling in my pool. From start to finish, the entire process went smoothly--Felipe provided a clear quote, handled the permit application, managed the demolition, coordinated inspections, and completed the backfill and compaction with proper documentation. Although we mostly communicated over the phone and didn't meet in person until the final day, I always felt the project was in good hands. His replies were sometimes a bit slow, likely because he's often out on job sites, and there were a few delays due to city inspections--but everything was done properly and professionally. Overall, a great experience with a hardworking and reliable team. I highly recommend Felipe for any demolition or pool removal work.

The master demolition team did a complete pool removal at my house on a 40 year old pool. It is a noisy dirty process but the team took care and cleaned up very well. The timing and cost was just as promised up front. Communication is a little light but I was provided notification at each major milestone / inspection. Overall I would definitely recommend master demolition to family and friends

I called them up and Felipe came out the same day and quoted me a great price. They came and dug up the area and hauled away the dirt within an hour. They did an amazing job!!! I definitely recommend them and will be using them for future projects.

Day 3 - first truck load of dirt arrives

It was time for me to demo the old girl - she's 45 years old, not up to code, and ultimately taking up too much space. Found Felipe right here on Yelp after considering a couple other contractors. He was the most responsive and most eager to earn the business - big plus compared to some others. Initial experience was very good. Felipe came out with his daughter, Daisy, to measure and provide an estimate. They helped put the permit through to the city. Fast forward 2.5 months later, and the permit was approved. I had wanted to do the project in either spring or the fall, as the project would have required me to disconnect and move my air conditioning's condenser to make room for their bobcat (skid-steer) to access the backyard. I checked in with the city and when they told me the permit was approved, I let Felipe know, and he picked it up two days later. Felipe's team and their work is SOLID! His guys work super hard and they like working for him. They enjoy what they do. They have this operation down to a T. A pool demo is basically clockwork to them. People showed up at the right time. Equipment showed up at the right time. Dirt showed up at the right time. Trash and rubbish left when it was supposed to. I didn't have to ask about any of it. The quality of the work is damn near perfect. My itinerary: Day 1: Drained the pool with a gas generator. Disconnected and removed pool equipment: pump, filter, water heater, jacuzzi blower, electrical. Day 2: Jackhammer bottom of the pool. Cut 4' wide channel down the middle of the pool per my city's requirements. Inspection day: City inspector checked for channel cut in bottom. Days 3-5: Backfill with gravel and certified dirt. Compact the dirt. Jackhammer sides of pool deck. Jackhammer surrounding area. Soil compaction inspection. Day 6: Smooth out dirt. Clean up job site. Put odds and ends back. Inspection day: Soil compaction report needs city signature. Felipe final walkthrough of job site. Improvement points to Felipe: 1. Be more proactive about communication. I would like to know what goes on on what day before it happens. If you need to block the driveway for 3 days with dirt, I would prefer to know before the day of. If the city inspector is coming, let me know beforehand so I can make sure you that you meet him. 2. All known costs need to be made upfront. Soil compaction report was the most expensive ($1000) clipboard chicken scratch I have ever paid for. You probably want to find a new soil person, or at least tell him he has to type it up. If there are surprise costs that could come up (like my thicker back pool wall), let me know in the original estimate how much it could be. My original estimate didn't even match the city's requirements (4' wide channel instead of 3x3 holes), so I would like to see that priced in to begin with. All in for me: $14,300. Includes partial pool demo, the permit fee, the bad soil compaction report. I hired a separate electrician, plumber, and HVAC guy to handle odds and ends specific to my backyard. Overall, very thankful for Felipe and his team for the amazing they work they did for me. I will still be recommending them to my neighbors. I wouldn't hesitate to use Felipe's team again, especially with the improvement points I have laid out.

Master demolition did a great job for us. They broke up and removed an area of bricks. They arrived on time and finished ahead of schedule.
