You gotta really be big jerks to get one star from me, and Master Mechanic earned their one star today. Dropped off my car about six weeks ago with an oil leak, asked them if they could fix it. $3,000.00 later they said, "all better!" Got the car home and after a couple weeks of driving it around, sure enough, another big oil slick on my garage floor. Take the car back in to have them take another look, and was greeted with all kinds of negativity, obviously trying to make it known that they weren't going to warranty their work, they did take the car and three days later I got a call that said they couldn't find anything wrong. Okay fine, I'll drive the car with purple die to see where the leak is coming from. The ars hole at the front desk who only uses a paragraph when a sentence will do continued pontificating at me for ten minutes trying to explain that he couldn't help me and couldn't remember ever working on my car. I finally talked to another gentleman who explained there was no leak in the car and to drive it around and bring it back at a later date. Yeah, I've never been treated with less respect at any establishment than this ever before. Obviously they have plenty of business and don't need any more. Take a look at the picture of my car, this is how they returned it to me, covered in bird sh1t. Don't worry guys, I promise, I'll never ask you to work on one of my vehicles ever again! We were traveling in Logan from another area of the state and had two of our belts break suddenly. It was 17 degrees outside and we thought we were going to be stuck. We were able to get the car to Master Mechanic and these guys were terrific! They fit us into their schedule and made the repairs in a timely manner and were very professional and helpful. This is by far the best place in town. They have been honest and fair every time I come. They work around my crazy schedule and are great at communicating. Sometimes as a girl who doesn't know a lot about cars other places talked over my head or made me wonder if I was being taken advantage of. But here Kevin is really good at explaining things and I have always felt they were honest with me. They are true to their word if they tell you they will be done by a certain time they are. They've done excellent analysis of issues on my car even with the complications of it being a Prius, which means you have to hook it up to a computer to figure out the problems. I took my truck to 2 places last weekend before Master Mechanic. I wanted to see if they all could find the same things and if so, how different the quotes would be. Grants found some of the issues but price was high. Discount Tire didn't find anything and didn't seem to care after I called them out. Masters found everything and even made other suggestions. Pricing was great. They do a very thorough check and explain it well. Also, easy to setup appointments online and their invoice has fantastic notes and an inspection report checklist. Would highly recommend. In the valley I've been to Big O, Jiffy, Schwab, Discount, Grants, Jacks, Carsmart and these guys officially have won my future business. read more

In my personal experience at this location I have been treated fairly, and with respect. Chase at the front desk was great to work with, and Jeremy even offered me a donut! The waiting room is clean, and there is a small child's playroom that is fun and keeps the kids busy while you wait. I had the opportunity to chat with the Technicians, as well. They were all very knowledgeable and very friendly, too. I never felt like anyone was trying to take advantage of me, and I trust this shop. In 2009 I took my car there for a state inspection. They damaged the front bumper on their lift, called me to arrange to fix it, however they would not let me chose my own place to have the body work done. They wanted to have their mechanics work on it. They don't specialize in body work, and wouldn't have done but a mediocre job on it. They refused to do anything besides the cheapest bid they could get, meaning low quality work. I had to instead just take the cash amount for the lowest bid they got themselves, and then fork out the cash difference to get the work done. This place is no good, and the Owner is very arrogant. I will never go back there, and will never recommend anyone go there either. read more

These guys are my favorite place to take my car in Cache Valley. They are very trustworthy and the place is clean. I've never had an issue with my car after a repair. They are always willing to work with me on prices and were happy to pick me up or drop me off at home when I was having my car worked on. read more

I will never again take any of my vehicles to Master Mechanic. I have had several repairs done over the last couple years and chose them because of their close proximity to my house. There were a few problems with a couple of their repairs but overall they were ok until I had them replace my engine. When I got my car back it was smoking and leaking oil. When they looked at it they said it was the distributor so I paid them to replace that too. They then found that gas lines hadn't been hooked up properly and the distributor was way out even after replacement. I got the car back again and the car still leaked oil, smoked and stunk and would die regularly. I complained for a couple months before they had the engine supplier try to fix the problem. They claimed to have rebuilt the engine but when I got the car back it still smoked. It took many times of complaining before the owner took a ride with me to see for himself. It was obvious the car had problems and the owner set it up with their supplier to replace the engine. I kept a log of all the times I called and I complained almost 40 times before they tried to fix the problem. The supplier supposedly replaced the engine but it looks like they just worked on it again and did not do what they promised to do. My car still burns oil and stinks. Master mechanic has told me this is normal and they are not going to fix the problem. The owner avoids conversations with me and lets his front deck people help me even though they are new and have no idea what I have been through with this company. I paid over $3000 for an engine replacement just to pay for rental cars when it had to be fixed again, lost time at work trying to get my car there during their hours, and countless dollars on added oil to keep the car going. I will forever have to add oil regularly to my car because they refuse to honor their warranty and back their work and their suppliers work. NEVER, NEVER use Master Mechanic!!!! Never! read more

This is the best mechanics shop in Cache Valley. Everyone there was so helpful and considerate. Chase at the front desk was understanding and explained everything so I could understand it. They had to replace my exhaust manifold (which is a HUGE job), my lower ball joint, alignment, state inspections, and replace my entire rear tail light assembly (they didn't charge me for labor on my tail light). After they told me what they had to do and gave me the quote I almost passed out, so I did some shopping for other mechanics in town, and the other shops told me that either they couldn't do it because they weren't qualified or their quote was outrageous! I highly recommend Master Mechanic for any job large or small, they made me feel most cared about and at home! read more

I have been going to Master Mechanic for years and have had great service always. However, these past few months I took in my car to get my ac fixed. Found out it was the blower motor. They called and told me the price and I agreed and they fixed it. Along the way they called and said that the cabin air filter was bad and told me a price on that as well. I picked up the car the next day and drove it 2 miles when the check engine light went on and the transmission light went on as well. I took it back in that day and they looked at it and said that it wasn't there fault. A car doesn't just have that happen the day I get it out of the shop unless they did something to it. I took it elsewhere to get fixed. Low and behold a week later the ac stopped working. It wouldn't blow cold air any more. They advertise a 3 month warranty so I took it back in giving them a second chance. They looked at it and told me that is was the controller was loose and they needed to fix it and it would cost me another 100 dollars. Some warranty. Again they said it wasn't there fault. I am never going back to them again. I am done reffering anyone over there. They not only lost my business but I have sent over ten people to them in the last 2 years. I apologize for sending anyone there way. I hope you never have to deal with these people. When I find a new mechanic that is good I'll let you know. I would avoid Master mechanic at all costs. read more

I believe that this shop is either incompetent or dishonest or both. I went there after failing an emissions test for vehicle registration. They looked at the codes, did some diagnostics (charged me $96 for the diagnostics!) and said that I needed to have work done on my evap system ($439) also, that I needed a transmission flush ($254) to get the codes cleared and pass emissions. I declined their suggested "repairs" and took my vehicle to Young Toyota Honda. They told me that I did not need work on my evap system - a simple gas cap ($30) fixed that emissions problem. They also told me that a transmission flush would do nothing to help clear the transmission code and in fact might blow the seals on an older transmission like mine. So, if I had listened to the technicians at Master Mechanic, I would have spent a total of $789 and been no closer to getting my emissions issues taken care of. The moral - take your vehicle to a reputable dealer for service! read more
