I have moved 5 times since 2019 so I have had a LOT of experience with movers. When looking to move a 1 bedroom from Madera to Merced I shopped around and was quoted anywhere between $700 to $4000. I went with Master Movers because they are one of the few movers in Fresno with proper insurance and licensing, offered the lowest quote, and had great customer service when booking (thanks Terry!). Honestly, the rate was so competitive that I was skeptical anyone would show up. Thankfully they did and they were AWESOME. Abi and Armando loaded the truck, drove ~1 hour to Merced, and unloaded all within 4 hours. They were punctual, efficient, careful, and professional. My items all arrived in one piece and no damage was done to my home. When it came to payment, I was charged the low end of my quote with no hidden fees. A walk-through visit and then nothing.. Thought it odd that "our" local agent for Mayflower was located in Fresno and we are on the central coast. Anyway .... the guy came out and did the walk through, promising a quote within a few days; never happened and no follow-up whatsoever. So the way it works I guess (and this happened with one other interstate local agent also), is that they fulfill their requirement with Mayflower (of coming out to your house) but then cherry pick the jobs based on size (our quote from two other long distance movers was 9-10K) and location(s). Anyway, guess they don't want to tell you that they don't want your business. The good news is that we've found a way to move more cheaply (50% less) and with a higher level of confidence. This is a 2300 mile interstate move and we'll be using a combination of a Upack 28 foot trailer and local movers with excellent reviews to load up the trailer. The trailer is then moved by ABF freight to your destination and yours is the only residential load on that trailer (with your own locks on the enclosing partition) - check it out. We only had them move the large items like furniture, washer/dryer, refrigerator, desk and bed. They arrived on time and were very professional and personable. If you were to read the review I left another moving company - you should see how I would be skeptical of hiring a moving company. However, I would hire these guys again in a heartbeat. From the initial phone call when I asked 21 questions, I figured out they were giving me the best rate given that they were: 1: Moving stuff from an apartment upstairs 2: Driving the stuff from Fresno to Merced 3: Unloading the truck and then driving back to Fresno Marc and Daniel were the two crew members who moved all my stuff. They were polite right off the bat - both of them greeted me and shook my hand. They were also respectful of my stuff and took orders well from their crew leader (who was on his phone the whole time because it was Black Friday and he was trying to get the best deals on laptops *eye rolls*). I had four hours with them - including driving to Merced - before I was charged anything additional of the initial charge of four hours. They got everything moved from upstairs to their truck, drove to Merced and unloaded the truck with an hour to spare. Given, I didn't have a lot of heavy furniture, I still had a lot of stuff they had to move. If I have to move again, I hope to use them again. read more

Wow.... After being totally stressed out about hiring a mover to move me out of state, Master Movers did an awesome job!! I had read many horror stories from others and this group was the exact opposite. Their salesman Steve was really professional and new his business. Got back to me promptly with all my questions. Lynda from their office was delightful and also very prompt. The local packers were great and the driver that handled the load Zack, was as nice as could be and very easy to work with. Poor experience with Mayflower. It all started well and then went downhill. While Linda was pleasant to deal with on the phone, I was told that my move price would be adjusted for needing fewer containers and having less weight than initially estimated - which was significant - the actual weight was a third less. However, Mayflower corporate then told me was not true because I had signed a bound estimate (I wasn't given another option). On the day of the move, the packers arrived without calling first (I have a pet take care of) and without the containers for a container move. When I called the office, I was initially told I didn't have a container move, then told they'd transfer my items at the warehouse (which is how items get lost and/or stolen), then finally they agreed one of the crew could get the containers and bring them back. While that was happening, not everything could get wrapped or packed because the remaining crew did not have enough materials - mind you I had a 1 bedroom apartment and had packed everything except the breakables and artwork myself. Once the containers arrived, they were not what was described on the Mayflower website. The moving crew began to wrap my furniture and it became apparent 2 of the three crew members had no idea what they were doing or how to wrap items. My possessions were carried out of my apartment and left in the July Fresno sun where they could have been stolen while the container was very slowly packed by the crew chief who seemed determined to shove every large piece of furniture into the container. There was no respect for my belongings -heavy book boxes were piled on top of boxes marked fragile. Several items of furniture were not disassembled because the crew did not have tools - and even borrowed mine. One bookcase was broken during loading and the movers just laughed. Upon receipt the movers unloading the containers were amazed at how poorly my furniture was wrapped. I am currently pursuing claims with Mayflower because a bookcase, my couch, and mattress were destroyed by the movers not caring and simply shoving items. TLDR: Lied to about price, overestimation by a third of load weight, no respect from movers and multiple items damaged that I now have to fight Mayflower on to get fixed or replaced. read more

$300 minimum with a $35 flat rate for gas for a small 1 bedroom apt going 1 mile is far too much to pay especially if the workers can control how much more i would have to pay based on how much time they say it would take them. Ridiculous. read more

This was my second out of state move (first was from Southwest VA to outside Philly, PA) and this move I from Fresno to Wichita, KS. So I've been through the entire quote to delivery process before. The guys who picked my items up were fantastic - and if I were just rating them, I'd give them a 5 star, however I did not have great a experience with the moving coordinator's follow up and communication. 90% of the things I was told I would be communicated on and updated/checked in on - never happened. So the lack of "customer service" is causing a lower star rating. I had further issues upon delivery, including damaged items and horrible service from the Wichita office that I wanted to chat with coordinator about. I left her a voice mail and stated in that voicemail I'd also send an e-mail. It took a week before she e-mailed me a claim form ONLY and never once addressed my voicemail or the issues I wanted to discuss in my e-mail. I would not recommend them for cross country, but rather local, as again - those guys picking up were awesome and there's probably less interaction needed with a moving coordinator. read more
