I walked into the lobby and that's where the confusion is because the doors are not labeled well. Plus, I was expecting to go into an office as opposed to a large waiting room. Now, once inside the waiting room, they have the big signs saying take the number. Another sign where you need to login. Then you take a seat and wait. Now I made the mistake of coming mid morning which was a little busy. My wait was about 30 minutes. So I walked over to the desk, set up for one of the people taking care of you. I handed them the letter from my doctor. She asked me a few questions. And then said my total was 50 Cent. I repeated you want 50 Cent, she said yes 50 Cent. I ask again it's only $.50 right like two quarters and she said yes, and she was laughing at this point. I have never been to a government building and paid this cheaply before. Once the money was exchanged, she handed me my new plates and asked if I was going to change them in the parking lot or at a later time. Since my neighbor was going to change them for me, I said a later time. So she explained where I can drop off my old plates. Handed me a packet of paper papers that have instructions on them. So, I reached out to my accountant friend who reached out to her bro who suggested this place! Of course I went to them -- they're Vietnamese and close! I called, made an appointment (they're open 7 days a week!) and it took me less than one hour to finish up my taxes. What a relief. The person who signs off on all the paperwork is Mr. Huynh. He has front-end staff that inputs the information and then he goes over it with you. Huynh gave me some tips regarding my retirement investments and after shuffling around some $$, I shaved off $1300 -- that's $80 well spent in my book! I normally do my own taxes, but if I have another year with more documents than usual, I am coming back here! I'm pretty sure their clientele is mainly Vietnamese but why would that stop you from coming here? LOL.

Our experience with Steadman Tax Services was extremely disappointing…read more We dealt with poor communication, multiple handoffs on our account, inaccurate bookkeeping, and a defensive response when we tried to get answers. We were told monthly bookkeeping emails and financial summaries were being sent, but we did not receive them on our end, including in spam. Their explanation was that the emails showed as sent or delivered on their side, but that does not change the fact that we did not receive them on ours   There was also no consistency in who was handling our account. Within about a year of working with Steadman Tax Services, the bookkeepers assigned to us changed multiple times. We started with Sam, who left abruptly and shortly after we became clients. After that, we were moved to Alyssa, then Daniella, and later Keri this January, with no communication about those transitions. That constant turnover made the process frustrating and made it hard to feel like anyone had a full understanding of our books or the history of our account. The bookkeeping issues were even more concerning. Our 2025 P&L showed many American Express charges categorized as Thumbtack advertising, even though we did not use Thumbtack at all in 2025. That significantly distorted our marketing expenses. We also found other miscategorized expenses, including business subscriptions being placed under office supplies instead of a more appropriate category. We had also already provided information about a cargo van purchase, yet it still was not properly recorded as an asset months after the purchase. When we reviewed the QB audit history, we also found long gaps with little to no bookkeeping activity, including stretches of roughly 29 days, 81 days, 49 days, 35 days, and 27 days with only minimal or administrative changes. That matters because this was supposed to be an ongoing monthly bookkeeping services that we pay for.  The audit log did not reflect the kind of steady monthly review, cleanup, and follow-through we were paying for. Instead, it looked like work was being done in batches with long periods of inactivity in between, which helps explain why issues sat unresolved and why so many things were only caught much later. To make matters worse, we had repeatedly clarified that my wife does not work and has no separate income, but that continued to resurface as if it had never been communicated. That showed a lack of attention to detail and poor account management. What was most frustrating was how the firm responded once we raised these concerns. We were not rude or hostile. We brought up specific issues, pointed to documentation, and tried to get clarity on what had gone wrong and how it would be fixed. Instead of taking accountability and working toward a solution, the response felt defensive, dismissive, and focused on shifting blame back onto us. Rather than treating our concerns as legitimate, it felt like we were being talked around and told, in effect, that the problems were ours for not catching them sooner. Then, after we followed up in writing to document those concerns and ask for a resolution, they chose to disengage immediately instead of addressing the issues professionally. That made the entire experience feel even more disappointing and unprofessional. We were not asking for anything unreasonable. We wanted accurate books, clear communication, consistency, and accountability. Based on our experience, we would not recommend this firm.

However, after the amount of taxes due spiked in 2024, I decided to take a look at the numbers, and discovered an egregious error. They had utterly failed to account for the money I put into an IRA, which added about $1,800 to my taxes. I had submitted to them the form to report this. They failed. Period. The following is the text exchange I initiated after Ms. Boynton failed to return my phone calls. Note that she couldn't even be bothered to proofread herself. Quite the professional, eh? ME: Maryjo, I can't access the portal to pay my bill. I've left phone messages for 3 days, but haven't heard back. Please respond. Thanks. MS. BOYNTON: Mr. Haeuser, your portal has been closed. You were very definite in your last message to me that my service was not making you happy. I sent you back a message the next day- "if you are not happy with my services, which you have been receiving for the last few years you at a very discounted rate, then I suggest you find a new preparer that is what you consider affordable. I have deleted the return out of the portal. I will close you portal at the end of the week. Sincerely, Maryjo Boynton" ME: Ms. Boynton, I did not receive that message. If I had, why would I repeatedly call you to report an issue with the portal? That makes no sense, does it? At any time you could have simply returned my call, which your answering machine claimed would happen within 48 hours, but did not. As for being happy with your services, didn't someone else actually prepare my returns? The oversight on my IRA contribution could have cost me almost $1,800. Should I be happy about that, and the fact that I just realized it happened last year as well, and I'll need to file an amended return, which should be your responsibility? Check your records - I submitted all of the required forms. Prior to this, have I complained about anything, ever? No. And yet you immediately drop me as a customer, leaving me high and dry less than 2 weeks before the IRS filing deadline, while deleting all of my records, including prior years and all prior communications, including my willingness to delay a re-file for last year until you had more time available. You're seriously misreading this situation. The mistakes were not mine, and yet you're acting as though they were. To be clear, and for the record, these mistakes were made by employees of rbce, and should be rectified by employees of rbce. MS. BOYNTON: I can decide who my clients are and how to run my business. Look else where. You are no longer my client. MS. BOYNTON: You have an extension. You have plenty of time before the October deadline. ______ end of messages ______ A real professional, eh?
