The team of Ryan, Kyla, and Yvonne provide exceptional service. There is something tangible about this when it comes to protecting your home, auto, life, etc. I primarily work with Kayla (but the whole team has been interactive & supportive; including Ryan the owner agent) Kayla is responsive, attentive, insightful, and caring. These can be rare attributes; especially in the insurance segment. I trust the team at Ryan Torres State Farm. I'm confident in my coverage and protection, and know I can rely on them when needed. Finally, Transactional dealings...price shouldn't be the only factor when selecting insurance (see above), but is a key component to purchase behaviors . Ryan Torres State Farm was the lowest rate. I bundled my home & auto. I shopped the big five players in the space and State Farm beat everyone. I defined the coverage to assure an equal playing field. I had Germania for my insurance for my homeowners policy for my home in Round Rock. I recall switching to them because they were the cheapest policy I could find...well, you get what you pay for! I have been SCREWED twice by this company. 1. We received significant hail damage to our roof from hail storms. The adjuster came out and said we just needed to patch the roof. This was the 2nd time we had a leak and we were told by 3 contractors that our roof was borderline from numerous Central Texas Hail Storms and it should be replaced. When the adjuster met with a contractor he learned that the shingles had been recalled and therefor said the hail damage didn't matter and denied our claim. The shingle recall had to do with installation. Our roof was leaking from hail damage and the contractor said our roof issues did not stem from the installation but from hail. 2. My BIGGEST problem is with Dennis Schmidt. He runs a "one man show" with no one else in the office. His lack of support staff left me blind sided with a cancellation of my policy: We moved out of our home and into a new construction build in April 2011. We opted to have State Farm insure our new home since I was not pleased with the service we received from Germania. I called Dennis in July to inform him that the Round Rock home was vacant, on the market, and would likely close in August, just at my renew time. I wanted to make sure that when the policy renewed I wouldn't have to pay for the insurance on the property since that was being insured at the new house. Dennis sent me the appropriate information and he said "he'd take care of it." Underwriting came back and said that we had to keep our house coverage at $167K even though the house was on the market for $135 and the tax appraisal was $127. Dennis told me that was the way it was b/c rebuilding the home in case of loss was $167K--which didn't make since to me since the tax appraisal also included the lot. Okay, I figured it was no biggie b/c I only had to insure it for a few more months. Fast forward to today. I called to tell Dennis that our closing had been pushed back a few days and not to cancel the policy until then. He said "oh, that policy was cancelled on the 7th." WHAT?!?!?! I had no idea the policy was cancelled, not to mention I called TWO weeks ago to tell him to cancel the policy on 8/31 b/c we were closing. I asked for him to call and confirm and let me know if there was anything I needed to sign. He claims they mailed me a cancellation notice at the end of July. Here it is 8/30 and I had no idea that my house has been uninsured for 3 weeks!!! I was livid. I asked Dennis why he didn't call. He said he had surgery and wasn't in the office. That's right, his company was not managed at all while he was out! No call, no follow up, NO COMMUNICATION! Now I'm praying that my house doesn't burn down in the next few days b/c if it does I loose everything! Bad business folks! I have a network of people I can call on to step in if I have an emergency so that my clients aren't left hanging. Not Dennis. Don't trust Germania because in the end you will pay money only to be screwed time and time again!

However, after the amount of taxes due spiked in 2024, I decided to take a look at the numbers, and discovered an egregious error. They had utterly failed to account for the money I put into an IRA, which added about $1,800 to my taxes. I had submitted to them the form to report this. They failed. Period. The following is the text exchange I initiated after Ms. Boynton failed to return my phone calls. Note that she couldn't even be bothered to proofread herself. Quite the professional, eh? ME: Maryjo, I can't access the portal to pay my bill. I've left phone messages for 3 days, but haven't heard back. Please respond. Thanks. MS. BOYNTON: Mr. Haeuser, your portal has been closed. You were very definite in your last message to me that my service was not making you happy. I sent you back a message the next day- "if you are not happy with my services, which you have been receiving for the last few years you at a very discounted rate, then I suggest you find a new preparer that is what you consider affordable. I have deleted the return out of the portal. I will close you portal at the end of the week. Sincerely, Maryjo Boynton" ME: Ms. Boynton, I did not receive that message. If I had, why would I repeatedly call you to report an issue with the portal? That makes no sense, does it? At any time you could have simply returned my call, which your answering machine claimed would happen within 48 hours, but did not. As for being happy with your services, didn't someone else actually prepare my returns? The oversight on my IRA contribution could have cost me almost $1,800. Should I be happy about that, and the fact that I just realized it happened last year as well, and I'll need to file an amended return, which should be your responsibility? Check your records - I submitted all of the required forms. Prior to this, have I complained about anything, ever? No. And yet you immediately drop me as a customer, leaving me high and dry less than 2 weeks before the IRS filing deadline, while deleting all of my records, including prior years and all prior communications, including my willingness to delay a re-file for last year until you had more time available. You're seriously misreading this situation. The mistakes were not mine, and yet you're acting as though they were. To be clear, and for the record, these mistakes were made by employees of rbce, and should be rectified by employees of rbce. MS. BOYNTON: I can decide who my clients are and how to run my business. We scheduled an in-person meeting to discuss more. - Feb 13: Had in-person meeting. I was very impressed with Frank and I wanted to move forward with using his service for my personal filing. Frank told me that he, or his staff, will email me a share drive link. In this link, I would have to upload all related tax documents (W-2, income, housing, etc.) - Feb 18: I sent Frank an email asking for the share drive link. It's possible that I needed to explicitly tell Frank that I'd like to move forward with his services, but this was not clear to me. - Feb 21: I called Frank's office asking for the Share drive link. I was told that Frank was in a meeting with another client, but the share drive link would be sent that day. - Feb 25: I sent Frank a 2nd email asking for the share drive link. There has been no response update from my previous call or email (Feb 18 + Feb 21). Frank replied to my 2nd email with the share drive link. I replied to Frank's share drive link email stating that I would upload all files / documents in the coming days, and I would would send another email to Frank confirming that all files have been uploaded. - Feb 26: I sent Frank an email stating that all files have been uploaded to the provided share drive. - Mar 19: I sent an email to Frank asking about the status of my tax return. It's been 21 days since I sent Frank an email confirming that all my Tax return files have been uploaded, and no response. - Mar 24: No response to my previous email asking for an update on my filing status. I called the office, and was told that Frank didn't have my files. I stated that all my files were updated in the provided share drive. I was told Frank would take a look at my files. - Mar 27: No response from Frank via email or call. I sent another email asking for an update on my filing status. This is the timeline and details of my experience working with Frank. While I believe Frank is very knowledgeable person, his lack of response and follow-through is unacceptable. I do understand that this is a busy time for CPAs. As a new client, I would have preferred if Frank told me his bandwidth is too thin, and I should look elsewhere. I do believe if you work with Frank 100% in-person, that your experience would be better. Based on my experience, I wouldn't recommend Frank to file your personal tax returns.
