I walked into the shop on Dec 21... just before the snow and blizzard warning without an appt. I had a replacement bed cover for my Ram 1500 to be installed under warranty. I went to help a coworker of mine hitch his 5th wheel he purchased, and was approached by the owner John, who was very hostile and seemed like he was looking for excuses to not adjust the trailer/hitch like he was supposed to. John was very rude and started insulting my dad and I from the second he walked outside, told me to move my vehicle because it was "blocking the road" and after I moved it he continued to insult and throw slurs at us, at one point even saying he almost shot me. Needed to put a hitch on my new SUV. My "go​ to" mechanic helped me find the correct hitch & electrical harness but then injured his back & couldn't complete the job. ​So now scrambling to find someone to install this hitch, I desperately called Master Truck & Trailer to see​ if they could help me out, for which I'm happy to pay installation fees. ​The owner very sarcastically told me that he stocks over 4,000 hitches on site and installing someone else's product is not worth the $100 he might make. A few days ago I had the opportunity to go to Master Truck and Trailer in Beach Park IL for a few things for our truck. I had the pleasure of dealing with the Owners son Jake. After talking over what I was looking for we went out to look at our truck. Jake took one look at my 5th Wheel Hitch a Reese Elite 16k. Jake asked me when I got the hitch. I told him that I bought the hitch from RA Adams in McHenry the end of February 2021. Jake said did you know the hitch was discontinued 2yrs ago and I said no. Jake started looking at the hitch and found that not only was it installed backwards, but most of the hardware wasn't also even tighten down. Jake fixed all the issues and didn't even charge me. Johns son did install on my 40k NEW truck...I was a 25+ year loyal customer up until now! His kid dented my front fender,made another dent (from inside to outside,see pic) on rear bumper,he did nasty install with used tow bar (I did not authorize this) and lost factory tab for rear bumper. We were in town with our Prevost motorhome, towing our F150. Signal lights on the F150 were not working from the bus connection. A friend pointed us to MTT, and called John to see if he had time to look at it. Owner John cam out and tackled it himself, found the problem (burned up twilight converter on the bus). He then located a suitable replacement part in his inventory, installed it and had us back on the road in under 3 hours! His charge was most reasonable, too! The owner John and his sons were a life saver. Literally! I went in here to figure out how to attach my tow hitch and John said I needed a separate braking system for my car so that it wouldn't collide into my RV when I need to brake suddenly or going downhill (which I'll be doing since I'll be crossing the Rocky Mountain range.) He was in disbelief when I told him I wasn't aware of that and had gotten my tow hitch installed at Hanna Trailer in Milwaukee. They got me set up with a Patriot Blue Ox and worked on my car for an hour (this was all last minute too!) His sons were VERY professional and showed me how to set up and use my new braking system. They also hooked up my car to the RV as well. I am grateful that I ended up stopping at this place for something totally unrelated because it saved my life and my RV's life. I don't know what would've happened if I went all the way cross country without John intervening and getting me set up with a braking system. As full-time RVers we don't usually have the 2-3 weeks that other places in the area required before they could service our 5th wheel. After explaining the situation to MTT I was asked what day I wanted to bring it in. 2 days later I dropped the 5th wheel off at 8 A.M. went and ran a few errands and by 10:30 A.M. I had the wheel bearings re-lubed, new brakes, and an inspection of the axles and lights. OUTSTANDING service, OUTSTANDING customer service.
