I remember 12/24/21, my husband got haircut on this terrible salon. I will never forget this day and promise to make review so everybody will be aware of. So, the lady didn't greet when I entered and check out my husband who happened his haircut almost done. He asked if his haircut was good enough and I suggested to trim more some part of it. Surprisingly, the lady told me with irritated voice, "you just came and you want me to trim again!" I got pissed but remained calm and told her just do whatever she likes and left. I understand that people gets tired maybe because she was busy all day but we are customers and we don't deserve to be treated that way. I may understand more if she spoke to me in a nice way but her tone of voice was really rude. We will definitely not coming back!!! read more

Came here on Sunday late afternoon around 4:30 because my husband was in need of a haircut and this is our usual go to salon. Upon entering we were greeted, but, not very welcoming. My husband didn't have an appointment so we asked if there was any opening available. The answer we got was "we're closing in 30 minutes"!!! There were 2 other stylists on the floor which they had customers already in their chairs, so, this lady decided to help my husband. Don't know her name, she is a slender older lady with short black and white hair with glasses! Not friendly at all!!! Usually when I bring my family here the stylist is friendly and makes conversation with them. I'm assuming that's how you build your clientele! FYI!!! There was a stylist there by the name Mary that had finished up her last customer and came up to the register. She started stretching and bending over facing her butt to me! I was like really!? No professionalism whatsoever. I noticed that whenever we visit here they always have new hair stylist and they keep getting worse and worse! Hopefully they'll work on their customer service skills and not being so worried about when they're going to close. Definitely won't be coming back! read more

This was absolutely the worst experience I've ever had. Even though we made an appointment, we had to wait while one employee looked up from her phone to acknowledge our existence and then wait for the hairstylist that "went outside." There was absolutely no customers in the salon. After waiting a considerable amount of time, we asked the receptionist when we could expect the hairstylist to return from being "outside." She looked up from her phone again and said I don't know, I'm only a receptionist. After stating that we had an appointment and were waiting a long time, she said oh I can go get him. Upon his return from his vaping break, we were met with attitude and absolute rudeness by a male employee. He looked annoyed that he had to actually work. I'm sorry to interrupt your break, but appointments are made for a reason. If you're not happy with your job, please look for something that is not customer oriented. Reviews are always different for male and female services. Here are my reviews for both. Note: decided to do it today based off similar experiences in the past...fed up. Male haircut: I went there today, and I asked for a fade for my son and I. At first, I wasn't sure given my bad experiences with fades here and at Supercuts, but I needed one so I let the barber do it. Needless to say, the fade turned out good. Only problem was, she was answering the phones the entire time she was cutting, while a gentleman, who wasn't doing anything, was just sitting down - really? Words of advice here, cross train, it just gets pretty annoying when only one person can do everything! Female highlights: My wife went there shortly after to get a partial done (highlights). When all was about said and done, the stylist (Asian woman) did not attempt to blow dry her hair! Yet alone style it...Now, ok, maybe a small argument there, possible damage, but when you factor in that she cut her hair shorter, in all honesty, how can you tell if the job was effective until you dry it out, and flatten t a bit? Because it wasn't dry, she had to do this at the house instead. This is the first salon, ever, not to do this, from across the US, Europe, and Asia, this is the first. If I had to guess, it was because there were people waiting to get hair services done, so they were rushing. This is what happens when non-business managers/workers don't understand the meaning of Customer Lifetime Value (CLV). Bottom line on customer service, some are good, most are horrible. If they don't like their jobs, why take it in the first place? I will definitely be posting this on my blog with about 230k plus followers to see responses. read more

How terribly sad for MasterCuts. This "guy" a young man does not have a clue about customer service. Everyone has an off day from time to time, yet each time I've been there he seems to be "put out" that he's having to cut your hair. I took my granddaughter there a few months back and she kept looking at me as if she had done something wrong because this "guy" never said a word, she moved once and he got really upset with her that she could have been badly cut and it went from bad to worse. I had to spend about ten minutes explaining to her after the hair cut that it was not about her, yet all about this "guy" as this is how he treats his paying customers. I'm not sure who the manager is of this establishment, yet they would be wise to be reading what is going on in their store. I have no doubt they are losing business as they have certainly lost mine. Do not waste your time going there if that "guy" is the only one in there cutting hair. You will be disappointed! read more

The guy with the pink shirt and red blonde do on 12/16 has got to be the most rude stylist (if that's what you want to call him). As I was waiting for my husband I observed him put a caller on speakerphone after having attitude the minute he picked up with two people at the counter listening along with anyone else in the store. The two at the counter appeared to be related to him. That still does not give him the right to invade that caller's privacy. I observed 6 different people walk out because they were greeted with such attitude. If I could post a pic here I would. No aloha! Go home! Went in and sat there like I was a ghost. Actually not a ghost because it seemed like I didn't exist. Not a hello. Not a I'll be with you. Not a our schedule is full. Just completely ignored. Then the stylist took a call from a client. After the call she spent the next few minutes whining about clients while she cut hair. Complaining about how people don't treat the stylists as professionals and how people bring in Walmart hair color in. Pot meet kettle. If you are a woman there are better salons in Maui. If you are a man O'Carneys. If you absolutely have no choice. Put earplugs on and try mastercuts. I was the latter as O'Carneys is booked a month solid. I had no choice but to give this a shot. When I walked into MasterCuts, my family and I were not greeted or acknowledged by any member of the staff. I wrote my son's name down on a clipboard that was haphazardly left on the counter and stood around waiting. While we waited, one of the stylists told someone in an unfriendly manner that they were not doing colors because they were too busy banging out the customers on the list, and they were also talking amongst each other about how they might not bother going through the whole list and cutting it off after the next two clients. When I went up to the clip board to check how far back we were on the list, one of the stylists came up to me and snatched it out of my hand. I ended up leaving and taking my son to Regis. The ladies who were working at MasterCuts tonight desperately need to work on their bedside manner and people skills. I won't be returning to MasterCuts at Kaahumanu ever agaian. read more

Horrible place, the stylist is super young and doesn't really know what he's doing ! Skip, skip, he schedules two people at once and you'll be left in chair for over 1 hr doesn't check the time of treatment, is scattered, unorganized and just a terrible "hair dresser" with zero clue or professionalism, there are way better hair dressers on the island, I had seen all the reviews, but thought I'd still give it a try, huge mistake! I walked out of the place after waiting 2 hrs and he never finished the work! Because he was doing 2 people which required a long process, very immature and lacks a lot of experience in wverThe worst experience ever! I visited Mastercuts on June 19th at approximately 8:35 PM to get a haircut. The moment I walked into the establishment, the lady at the register said, It's too late for a Haircut." And continued to do whatever she was doing at the register without any concern. The reason why I was so bothered was the fact that we had over 25 minutes until the place closed. Also, the fact she greeted with "you're too late" was a very unprofessional approach and a rude way to greet a customer. With the revolving gauntlet of hair stylist that seem to go through that place, their lack of "Aloha Spirit" and the fact that the hairstylist are chasing away business, it is a clear sign that the management should be replaced or proper training needs to be done. There is absolutely nothing masterful about Master Cuts like their name implies. read more

My husband had the worst experience ever with Mastercut. No one greeted us at all. They were basically on their phone sitting down and my husband just smiled and walked straight to a Stylist foreign guy. Everything was okay until the stylist started butchering his hair without spraying water and hell it was awful! My husband gave him instructions and want a fade with a fohawk, he even showed pictures. My husband kindly ask the stylist to fix it but damn the stylist has every reason to blame my husband hair is already messed. He told him " what am I supposed to do now that it's like this?" But luckily my husband calmly told the stylist to just spray some water and work with it but nooooo. The stylist walked away so my husband took off everything and told me let's get out with the most upset face I've ever seen. When we were out my husband told me he tried to be very patience because the stylist is making a living too. But he just left my husband hanging! This place is a disgrace to any professional organization, especially to a large chain like MasterCuts. I took my 9 year old son here to get a haircut. The staff was rude and unfriendly. Even to my 9 year old who the stylist didn't even speak to while he was cutting his hair. For a $20 kids cut they could've done a better job. So I've been in here many times and had great experiences, but today I went in and got a guy that just seemed to go with whatever he wanted. He looked unsure and a bit annoyed while doing my hair. I got the feeling he was new. I usually get a little bit of layers and a trim just so the cut doesn't look too boxy, but the layers I got were awkward and stick out everywhere. It looks like I tried to do it myself and botched it a bit....The guy was very sweet and was accommodating but just didn't really hit the mark. It really just depends on who you get when you go in whether you get the haircut you want or not, but hey, for 20 bucks you can't complain (and its hair...it'll grow!). read more

Do not go to the Foreign Male hairdresser there, he is absolutely rude and horrible at following directions. Took my 10 y/o daughter there for a hair cut, and unfortunately I was feeding my baby when he did the first snips on my other daughters hair so by the time I turned and looked it was too late. He cut her hair about 5 inches shorter than where we showed him we wanted it to be and he ignored the fact that I asked him to do a facial frame. When I asked to speak to his supervisor once he was done he got really defensive and told me that my daughter likes her hair like that. I know my daughter and know that she doesn't like her hair that short and that she would feel shame to tell him that she didn't like it when he asked. I told him that I'm the mother and that's not what I asked for him to do, and he had the nerve to tell me that if I'm the mother I should have cut it myself. I told him I refused to pay him because he messed her hair up and luckily the other hairdresser that was there agreed to help fix it. He then had started talking under his breath with me standing right by him, and he went on calling me a stupid customer. I will never go back here again because of the way he treated us and how badly he messed her hair up. She has naturally curly hair and he didn't even wet her hair before he started cutting so I can only imagine how crooked it would've been if we were to straighten it before the other hairdresser helped to fix it. When I spoke to the manager on the phone she didn't even offer to give us a discount or anything and said I would need to pay in full for the service. I insisted that since I needed to pay, none of the money would go to the guy that messed up her hair and that only the other lady (I believe her name is Kim) would get paid for the cut. Kim did her best to make my daughter's haircut look a little more descent but ultimately it's no where near the length we wanted and unfortunately it'll take us a while before we get those inches back. read more

I came here before Christmas because I was tired of my old stylist, she never listened to me and sort of just experimented on me which I did not appreciate. I made an appointment and when I came in Brittany helped me, I wanted to try something new so I decided to bleach my hair, I had highlights already so I was worried about damage but she did a great job, my hair is still very healthy. She did a great job on the cut, she made it very clean and nice and did it swiftly, she was a great conversationalist, which was great because bleaching your hair can be so boring, when I waited for my appointment other times I can tell the other stylists share the same care of quality and care of the costumers, I recommend this to everyone, it isn't super expensive but the stylists know exactly what they are doing! read more

After reading people's reviews I still stupidly decided to come here. Walked in and there were two girls not doing anything. One was doing her own hair in the mirror and one just standing at the register looking at everyone and staring at the wall. The one gay guy doing Hair was very rude talking in the background to the lady in the front instead of talking to me directly. They said I could wait to see if next appointment showed up and if not then they would take me. Well apparently the next appointment showed up but they didn't say anything for at least ten minutes and again instead of saying anything to me directly the guy whispers to the lady standing there doing nothing and she finally says she can't take me. read more

I got my hair trimmed but the lady didn't take a lot off and there were a few spots where there was still a lot of damage, so I went back later in the day to have her try again. She didn't seem very happy to see me again and when I sat down she made a comment that suggested it was my fault it hadn't turned out well (I'd cut my own hair if I didn't want it to turn out well!). She rushed through the second try and totally half-assed it, she didn't even part it or spritz with water. I'm pretty disappointed but I guess you get what you pay for in this business. This time however as I sat there getting my haircut a certain employee gave me stink eye for most of the time i was there. I am very unhappy with the results of the perm, i ask for curly hair instead i got beachy cracked waves. I couldn't explain myself because my english is very poor. First of all the guy attending me in which i suppose his name is" JUSTIN" did not brush my hair and started right away with the curls, he took a big chunk of hair with only one roll in which my hair did not turn out as is suppose too. I had a perm while ago in this same mastercuts but it another person, and it turn out excellent, i was hoping this time it will be the same. My parents brought my son in and asked for a frohawk. My son came home with his whole head full of uneven lengths, didn't even look like he got a haircut. It literally looked like someone went scissor happy and made chop suey out of his hair and then wet it and gave him a comb over/ We ended up shaving his poor head and we will try again when his hair grows out. I've been to Mastercuts in Kahului several times. They are always friendly and give me a great hair cut. I've read reviews from people who say they got this "guy", he seems unfriendly. Of course people don't know his name because he hardly has anything to say. He acts put out that you are even there. He always seems unhappy, always is looking out the windows to the mall and hardly paying attention to his customer. Today I went hoping he would not be there because he cut my hair last time and didn't do a good job and had zero to say. I got there early about 9:20am. They open at 9:30. He showed up to open the shop at 10:00am, told me I'd have to give him five minutes in his typical attitude way. Then he goes in the back and makes a phone call and starts yelling and swearing at the person on the phone. I was sitting there with another person and we both decided, nah, not going to go with this guy. So for me, I'm done with MasterCuts because this guy has ruined their business. Will never go back. My mom went in for a haircut. She told the stylist she wanted a bob cut. I left to go to the restroom and when I came back I saw that she was getting her hair blow dried. I had always service in which I didnt complain and whatnot. I went to get a haircut, simple one, and the guy that cut my hair seemed like he wasn't happy or friendly. He asked me what I wanted and I told him. Now at this point, the stylist I went to before him would usually say, "we'll go section by section, clip by clip" just to make sure I like the cuts and would be happy to make th adjustment. This guy, he says something like, "shouldnt the front be a bit shorter?" I said, "yeah, just a bit shorter." Then he goes onto say, "You should tell me from the beginning." I was like, "Brah, I told you. If you wasnt sure, you could've told me that you'll cut certains parts to see if its ok." Of course I didn't tell him that but yeah. I'm also in customer service and we ain't psychics, thats why we ask questions to satisfy who we're helping. If you having a bad day, no take it out on who you helping, thats not professional. Well, Rochelle is gone. I have been coming here for over a year now and the staff has recently in the last few months turned over completely. I have had my hair colored and cut the last three times from the same person and I was basically satisfied with the service. Prices have been going up though. Apparently today, they don't know anything about my history (guess the computer system is down to look me up nor pull my card with my color history on it.) I waited over 35 minutes for my appointment that I showed up on time for. When I asked how much longer I had to wait for my appointment I was told there was an unexpected color correction that was eating into my appointment time. There was no apology and no courtesy from the counter person or my regular stylist during the previous 35 minutes to let me know that my appointment would be delayed. I had to leave as I have other appointments and this was just frustrating and unprofessional. Won't be coming back as there seems to be a lack of consistency and professionalism with this salon. read more

Over Promised and Under Delivered! Master Cuts- don't tell people it will be a "few minutes" for a haircut and then make them wait over an hour without even an acknowledgement. Then when you ask how much longer it's going to be your response is "well our reservations walked in early so we took them instead...." Really? At least offer an apology.... I have an important meeting coming up next week and wanted to look my best. I didn't want to go to Supercuts because they always cut my hair too short. I did some research online and Mastercuts sounded okay so I went in for a simple trim. I stood around for several minutes waiting for somebody to log me in but was ignored so finally just sat down. When my turn eventually came around I was specific with the woman about what I wanted done to my hair: trim the sides and get it out of my eyes but leave it long enough to cover my ears. Before I could react she grabbed an electric clipper and sheared a huge chunk off the side of my head and I had no choice but to let her finish cutting it all off. I hate this cut - it's the worst I've had since my father got an electric razor when we were kids. Now I get to go to my meeting looking like I just came out of boot camp. I should have just gone to Supercuts - even they don't cut it this short. Don't go to Mastercuts if you have a specific idea in mind, they're going to do whatever they feel like. I hate to even give them 1 star, they really ruined my day. read more
