First off, this place is open on Sundays! I feel like very few salons are open on Sundays so I definitely appreciate that :) AND tons of parking which is always a plus on this island. Oh! And did I mention you can schedule online?! Such an awesome perk! Though she did say that if you want a coloring service and haircut done at the same time to call in and schedule to make sure there's enough time allotted. (The online scheduling only allows you to book one service at a time and will ask you to change stylists for each service if they aren't available which would be odd to switch mid hair makeover ) I had a haircut and blow dry with Carly, the owner, and she was amazing. She seemed to know exactly what to do with my hair even though I didn't lol ‍ She had great tips and she knew exactly what I wanted. She was super personable and we chit chatted during the entire cut. She was super professional and I really enjoyed my experience. My hair came out awesome and she made the haircut experience top notch. She even suggested a product and provided me a small sample to try on my hair wavy which I thought was definitely going above and beyond! Okay ladies listen up! All the stylists here are absolutely amazing and have such talent bringing out the natural beauty and shape of your hair. I have very long and thick fine hair and was looking for a good butterfly blow out cut with a fringe to shape around my face. I have a longer face and this cut truly helped bring out the natural flow and features of my hair and face. I had Courtney as my hairdresser and she knocked it out of the park. A true wizard! She does a dry cut, which allows you to see how your hair naturally will layer and fall. I truly recommend this procedure too. I will continue to go back to her. I was on vacation when a very large section of my NBR hand tied extensions slipped. In a panic and not knowing where to go, I googled extensions on Maui and crossed my fingers! After reading review's I connected with 808 Salon. From the first moment on the phone I felt comfortable. Megan was able to get me in immediately. I was highly impressed that she knew of, and had been trained in the NBR method used for my extensions. She had me in and out in no time at all. Megan really was my hair savior that day! Pleasant staff, very clean salon, easy booking service with the Vagaro app. There appeared to be new staff members to me, but everyone was so friendly and professional, I was still confident when I sat down for my semi-annual "hair clean up". I should go more often, but I am not in the habit like when I was young, feeling wild and debt-free. Blue was very sweet and accommodating and held a charming conversation. I usually don't talk when I get my haircut, but his personality was so gentle and sociable, I was simply drawn into the conversation. He gave a brief scalp massage while he shampooed my hair. Once we arrived, the staff were very welcoming, and the atmosphere was mellow with a cute setup. Rowena out hair dresser treated the girls amazing. This was my first time visiting 808 salon and overall I had a really good experience. First the place is very stylist and hip in the inside, love how the flow is and is set up in such a way that social distancing is possible. It's pretty clean as well. They take your temperature and require masks. One thing that caught me off guard is a dog was in the salon jumping and furniture and licking my toes. My thought well that's different. Assuming it was the owners. I had Jennifer as my hair stylist and let just say she is AMAZING!!!! I have very thick and fluffy hair and she is the first hair stylist in all my years to be able to actually blow dry my hair without it frizzing. She was amazing. I can't recommend her enough. I've never felt more welcomed by everyone at this salon, I'm making my first visit due to a last-minute change in my schedule. I had an appointment at 12 p.m., so it was fortunate that I didn't have anything else to do that day. However, when I called to let them know I would be running ten to fifteen minutes late, they offered to see me at 2 p.m., which surprised me because some other salons would have demanded a "rescheduling fee" and neglected to provide same-day service. It was a pleasure to have Moya as my stylist; we clicked immediately away. I don't trust many people to cut my hair, so she knew what I wanted--a mid-to-short cut. Today I got a TRIM. Nothing more Nothing less. I got internal layers done and nearly cut anything off BUT I was charged $55 for it!!! I seen the price for a women's hair cut was $40ish and that included and wash, cut, style which all I wanted was a trim but when I called they said it would still cost $40ish for just the trim... my only issue really is how overpriced my cut was because otherwise I really do think they did a good job. ALSO back in early March I came in for TRIM ( same thing I did today) and a wedding hair consultation (I was considering getting my hair done here). She did the wash, cut, and the style I wanted was "beachy waves" so she did a demo and said "I won't charge you for the demo".. she told me for me wedding day it would be $100 for a wash and style and that day I was charged $50 for initially the wash and cut ( demo aka style wouldn't be charged) So after reviewing why I just wrote out, I was OVERCHARGED... I was charged less back in March than what I was charged today and LITERALLY all she did was trim my hair!!!!!! It's so ridiculous how overpriced this was and it's unfortunate. thought it would be worth it but I'm wrong, it's not worth it!!! I initially went in for a grey blend. Moya seemed like she understood but I left very blond. a beige blonde. after a few shampoos and toner wore off a bit, I really didn't like it at all. it was 10 days and I reached out to see if could put in a few low lights. she agreed. my first visit I paid $540 which included a $100 tip. after she put a few low lights in she charged me another 200. I feel this was unfair because i paid almost $800 in 2 weeks and still hate y hair. it's so damaged the ends look like I have a mullet now. I will need to cut my hair now so that it will hopefully grow in better. I will not go back to Moya. ever. read more

I have been to 808 Hair salon 4 or 5 times to have my hair trimmed. Always been happy with the results. I went today and saw Maddy for a trim. I told her 2 inches only. I have been growing my hair for over 10 years. Well...She took off at least 5". When I saw how much she took off and was freaking out she told me it's not really that much. Totally dismissed me. My hair is totally uneven. This is the WORST hair cut I have ever. I had to catch a flight to the mainland for a wedding and did not get a chance to get my hair fixed. read more

Very disappointed in the Salon's customer service I received. I got there early and texted to let them know I had arrived. My appointment was at 3:00. I waited outside for someone to get me. I waited and waited. After 15 minutes, I poked my head in and they said we'll be right with you. I waited again outside. I waited another 15 minutes. Another lady poked her head out and said Pam will be with you in a few moments. I asked what was a few moments. She said a couple minutes. I waited an additional 15 minutes. So, I went in and said I'm out of here. I think what bothered me the most was that I was never greeted and acknowledged. I just sat there. Perhaps a bottle of water should have been offered or at least an explanation why she was running so late. Very poor service. Would not recommend. read more

I've been here twice now. The first one was years ago, I wanted a short bob and the lady cut the hair on the back uneven. I didn't notice it after a day because she curled it before I left. Maybe I talked to her too much and she got distracted? The second one was just yesterday. I wanted to do a balayage and a trim. This time, I barely talked stories just so the stylist wont be distracted. I showed him the picture of what I wanted, I asked for dimensions. I paid $180 and tipped $30 because, although I loved it he curled it so I can see the colors. I washed my hair after 24 hours and my hair have barely any color :( Not one of my coworkers or friends and family even noticed. I thought it'll get lighter once im outside. Im heartbroken :( He did say he'll try to get it as light as he can, the lightness wasn't a problem, I know i cant achieve lightness in one sitting, I just thought there'd be more color spread out in my hair.. :'( I really thought if I go outside in the sun the colors would pop out. Everyone was very nice though and the owner Jeremy I think, he's really good at checking up on everyone. I'll be going somewhere else. read more

Value: 4 stars Service: 4 stars I got my first cut here post-COVID, and it was good. I was a little underwhelmed given how long it had been since my last cut. I have long, fine, straight hair, but a lot of it. I wanted to repair my split ends and give my hair more life, and I was fine cutting off a decent amount. I walked out with a perfectly nice haircut, but I did end up with some split ends remaining which was disappointing. I would return, but I've had better cuts elsewhere. read more

I would like to update my review: I received a refund for the tip I left the stylist. Unfortunately it wasn't the stylists fault that she wasn't given the opportunity to fix my hair. They should've refunded the $200 that went to the salon and let the stylist keep her tip. Very bad business practice in my opinion. Staff should be a priority. They cancelled my husbands appointment because he's associated with me. But anyway, I was referred to April at Lenas salon, she did a great job! Its nice that facebook has so many Maui groups and she came highly recommended! The response by the "owner" is disgusting, insulting, and very unprofessional for a business owner. First, I think it's VERY important to let each client know that each session only runs an hour long. I came in with a lot of questions, wanting to do a dramatic cut (from super long to super short for the first time) ~ our consultation and hair wash alone took 20-25 minutes. I definitely felt like I needed more than an hour~ During the booking, the receptionist can make it clear that we essentially pay by the hour and perhaps have given me the opportunity to book two hours with Kat from the beginning, (I ended up tipping her almost another hour anyways) She had another appointment right after me so I don't feel as though she put in the care or attention I would have hoped for especially with such a dramatic change. Although I liked the cut, I felt extremely rushed and I felt like she wasn't very thorough so I booked a follow up appointment with her this past Monday. I was her last client~ and to be honest, now that I've had time to process the experience, I feel extremely upset. The hair cut I left the salon with was disgusting. I feel as though Kat didn't actually care what I left the salon looking like. I literally ended up shaving my head bald because of how much I hated it. I was not going to walk around for months looking like that. A part of me has wanted to shave my head so the terrible haircut made it easier to make that decision although, I think I did it prematurely in my life~ can't turn back time now though. But honestly, I just left feeling like the way your salon operates is primarily focused on booking as many people as you can without taking into regard that some people may need more time. So in the future, tell people that the price for a haircut isn't actually for a haircut, it's for an hour. THAT IS IMPORTANT. Thank you. & I'd like a refund read more

Super shocked and disappointed. Not my first time here, used to love it so much that a friend bought me a gift card. Took me about a year to redeem, walked inside and they said since they got a new owner they cannot accept? Receptionist then offered for owner to call me, waited over 2 weeks, no call. Went back to be told they can't do anything, previous owner got money so they don't have any options and anything to provide me. Wow. Not a way to keep a client. Be aware, they won't contact you with new ownership but will have a ton of excuses if they change. They could have given me an option, but instead let me walk out. Not my fault they got new owners. Maybe they should have contacted those people who now wasted their hard earn money. They don't know what customer care is. Shame. read more

I came to the salon after moving to Kihei & reading reviews. I'm attaching photos of what this stylist did to my hair. I won't name the stylists name here but he shouldn't be proud of his work. I ended up having to go back to this place three times so he could fix what damage he'd done. I had a photo of what I expected & asked for. He confidently states he can easily give me the balayage I wanted. His assistant (who was training under him) was very nice & I actually liked her. But, he was pretty rude to her with comments he'd make the times I was there. I also have to mention that I asked his assistant "This isn't going to be too light is it? I don't want any blonde." When I was under the dryer... I guess he thought I couldn't hear him... But he came over to check my hair & said as he walked away, "She asked if it was going to be too blonde. That's why I'm the stylist. Not her." HOW UNPROFESSIONAL! & then look at my hair photos... His work was the shittiest coloring I've ever seen. The ONLY reason I'm giving this salon 2 stars & not 1 is bc they gave me free products to take home for the multi inconveniences. I actually liked the products they gave me. read more
