I frequent Matador cigars in my neck of the woods of Hauppauge, when I heard about a cigar event in Roslyn, I decided to hit up the Roslyn location and smoke a stogie. All Matador cigar locations are the same, great cigars choices as well various cigar /smoking items for your perusal. So why the 4 star review? I went to the event, talked the Ashton rep and purchased cigars based on his suggestion. I went in the back, lit up and smoked a cigar. I'm in the zone relaxing a fine Ashton recommended cigar. My only beef was the place was packed out. There was a few seats in the back and there was no parking. Matador in Hauppauge is a little larger as well as a lot. If you live in the area and enjoy this place, add a star. read more

Such a beautiful cigar lounge. You have the high end feel, with very reasonable pricing on cigars. They have two main sitting areas, both are big, comfortable and well ventilated. I come from Queens specifically to this location because of how enjoyable it is. Plenty of TVs that are playing Sports / News pretty much anything you want on, you can ask. The biggest thing to me is how well ventilated it is. I've been to cigar lounges that clouds of smoke sit in their air, making it very uncomfortable and stuffy. Matador has very high ceilings, and a great vent system that even in a room full of customers, smoke is gone. The staff is also very helpful and accommodating. Matt is super knowledgeable about cigars. If you describe what you like, he can give you plenty of options to choose from. Ashely is super on top of things, asking if you need another drink / making coffee and expresses. She's the perfect person to be helping customers to enjoy their time there. read more

Can't believe I haven't put a review for Matador yet. I've been going here for years off and on. The environment is pleasant people are friendly and the cigars are excellent. Large selection of cigars ranging from affordable decent to super high end. That's all good but the staff is also great. Frank is a wealth of knowledge about all things tobacco (pipes and cigars) and accessories, Boris excellent owner friendly and runs it well, and glad to see Wes on the team also extremely knowledgable and passionate about cigars you introduced me to the line of La Aroma de Cuba. Logistics: large space, comfy leather sofas, TV 's everywhere, cute hostesses, lots of lighters and accessories for sale. I always smell smoke there though :P Keep up the good job guys. I have a very hard time finding any pipe tobacco here on long island. I'm new to pipe smoking so I'm also interested in a bit of advice from an expert. I came into the location and spoke with Sam, who I was referred to from the Facebook page. he had a ton of work in front of him and stopped everything he was doing to not only listen to my experience as a beginner but to also make recommendations based on that experience. I was offered a few different types of tobacco to sample while given a tutorial on how to pack, smoke, and clean a bowl. he even smoked a bowl with me. The entire time he was helping me and making sure I received the best customer service possible, he still managed to help numerous customers as well. Bottom line: I was provided with the best customer service one can expect and made to feel more than welcome in this place. I recommend this place to anyone interested in, and new to, pipe tobacco. I left with a few different kinds and am very satisfied with my purchase! I'll definitely return! read more

Matador is by far the best cigar lounge in NY. I typically travel from Queens to one of their Long Island locations because of how top notch they are. In regards to service, they are at the top of the game. Matt and Ashley are always going above and beyond to make sure your experience is enjoyable. Any questions in regards to a stick you'd like to smoke, Matt is very wise and helpful. Ashley is always making sure you're comfortable. The premises itself is the best. The ceilings are high and the ventilation is perfect so the room rarely even smells like smoke. Best part is: there's never any clouds of smoke around. There are two main seating areas which are large enough to fit a crowd and the seats are extremely comfortable. They recently made some renovations to the establishment to help make customers experience that much better. Thank you to the team at Matador for making my visits enjoyable. read more

First time going to this cigar lounge with a few of my friends. As soon as I walked in I wanted to love this place. There were many comfortable chairs at the front area as well as some couches and a pool table in the back section. They have a walk in humidor with a very helpful gentleman working the register who also can help you with your cigar selections. He was very knowledgeable as well as polite. Cigar pricing was a little on the higher side with my selection being about $2 more then my local cigar shop. There is also no bar but free coffee is available and you can buy soda from the fridge that is located at the back. After making our purchases my friends and I proceeded to the back area of the lounge because the front was packed with no seating room and from there it went down hill. The lounge has many regulars who insist on playing game after game of pool. The problem with this is that the area is way too small for the pool table. You are constantly poked, prodded and forced to get up from your seat so that the regulars can take their shots. If the place wasn't so busy maybe my experience would have been better. I would definitely not suggest this location on weekends. Also the pool table really needs to go. If there was room for it then it wouldn't be an issue but when you have to sacrifice the comfort of your customers to keep it then I don't feel that it is worth it. read more

MMMMM, I love the smell of a good cigar. But more than a cigar shop, Matador Cigars is more of a social lounge. Lots of regulars and many call it the best lounge in Long Island. The employees are very knowledgeable and friendly. My husband is a cigar snob, so we spend lots of time here and find it to be very enjoyable. Ventilated rooms keep the experience refreshing, the 52 inch televisions are there for sports nuts, coffee bar, leather seating and ambiance galore. Matador has the best selection of high-end cigars in the area. Every time I return, the manager remembers what I bought the last time and offers recommendations. The chairs are comfortable, and the ventilation is excellent. While I'm not crazy about the clientele, I have no problem picking up cigars here when I'm in the area. Nice elegant place with two sections. I'm guessing the front section is sort of (not really) reserved for the big shot regulars who seem like doctors and lawyers. They're definitely not rude to the newcomer but keep to themselves mostly. I think the back section was more lively with a bit younger crowd. read more

I have gone back a few times since my first visit. Service has excellent, staff was helpful and friendly. Parking is not great but you go there for Matador Cigars not the parking! People there as always friendly and a over all enjoyable time. I live closer to Massapequa but do now enjoy the Roslyn Store. So glad Boris the owner replied and asked me to try again. If you are looking for a nice relaxing place to have a cigar it is one of the places to go. Prices are fair, Service is Great! I do recommend. Went to Matador Cigars Roslyn last night for the first time. I was driving by and it looked quite nice inside, so I decided to go inside and take a look around. I am very glad I did, not only is the place nicely done but the cigar selection is excellent. I met Mike, the manager and found him to be very knowledgable and helpful. Very comfortable and well annointed lounge with plenty of seating and TV's. They also have an extremely diverse selection of cigars and a staff that really knows there stuff. There is a fully stocked refrigerator with a good selection of soft drinks avaikablw for purchase. I was attending an event nearby and stopped by to enjoy a cigar. Wesley assisted me in choosing some cigars I hadn't tried yet and signed me up for their rewards card. Great lounge great location great all around. Best nights to attend are when they are hosting a Cigar Night, where different companies come to promote new cigars and to show customer appreciation there are giveaways and complimentary food spread usually provided by Bellagio's (Farmingdale), which is always great Italian food. read more

This, like the other Matadors, is a nice lounge. It is wide open with plenty of seating and TV's to relax with. The reason for the 2 stars is their prices, and I realize it is an expensive area to live in. That being said, their prices are 20-30% more than what I am used to paying for a cigar. I don't know if the other stores are priced the same, but this one is costly! Two cigars that would normally cost me $20.00 (including tax) were over $22.00. I thought they rang it up wrong when I was told what the total was. Again, nice lounge but I cannot say I will be back. read more

Awesome cigar lounge. As soon as you walk into the place the ambiance just hits you. It just says manly but in a Don Draper kinda way. Everyone there from staff to the clientele are really friendly. If you walk in and ask how everyone's doing you'll get the same back plus a few handshakes, some jokes, and maybe even a little good-natured ribbing. Whether you're a first time cigar smoker or a veteran whoever's manning the counter that night will great you with a warm pleasant attitude and a smile and will have no problem giving you a recommendation that you're sure to be happy with. The humidor has so many cigars on each wall and the shelves in the middle that you may have trouble on deciding on just one cigar. Whenever me and my friends go we always try to find a spot in the back room, which was recently renovated to make it more spacious, where the pool table and little convenience bar is set up. The whole place is nicely furnished and has pictures of its namesake scattered around the spaces on the walls that aren't occupied by huge tvs which are usually playing whatever big games/fights are on that day or CNN. Another great thing about this place is that you are allowed to bring your own alcohol, don't worry about cups or ice everything is provided. Last but not least are the events that are hosted by cigar companies. There's always plenty of tasty food and plenty of bottles of liquor and a raffle at the end to win some spectacular cigar paraphernalia (i.e. humidors, clippers, cases, or lighters). Next time you're craving a cigar or just looking for a place to watch the game/catch up with friends try The Matador, you'll be glad you did! read more
